  Gestern hat Oracle bekanntgegeben, dass die beiden Produkte Oracle Audit Vault und Oracle Database Firewall zu einem Produkt werden. Der neue Produktname wird "Oracle Audit Vault and Database Firewall" sein. Software und Dokumentation werden in den nächsten Tagen zum Download verfügbar sein. Das Zusammenlegen macht durchaus Sinn, denn die ursprünglichen Produkte wiesen im Bereich der Protokollierung und des Berichtswesens deutliche Überschneidungen auf. Damit lag es nahe, die Repositories für das Speichern des Protokolls zu vereinheitlichen. Endlich wird es im Bereich Auditing durch die Einführung eines Development Kits auch möglich sein, Systeme anzubinden, für die Oracle keine vorgefertigten Konnektoren / Kollektoren liefert. With this release comes another milestone on Oracle's Data Integration roadmap - OWB is no longer shipped with the database. You will notice that the OWB documentation is no longer included with the Oracle Database documentation, you can compare and contrast the 11.2 and 12.1 documentation below. OWB 11gR2 is still supported with Oracle Database 12c, you will need 11.2.0.3 plus at least CP2 which has been certified with Oracle Database 12c. The 11.2.0.4 release will wrapper this into one install.

The new user interface is built using Oracle’s Application Development Framework and is our first step towards providing a single online support portal for our customers and partners; one that all users will transition to in the coming months. • October 2013 FMW Proactive Patches Released

  The following Fusion Middleware (FMW) Proactive  patches were released on October 15, 2013. Bundle Patches : Bundle patches are collections of controlled, well tested critical bug fixes for a specific product  which may include security contents and occasionally minor enhancements. These are cumulative in nature meaning the latest bundle patch in a particular series includes the contents of the previous bundle patches released.  A suite bundle patch is an aggregation of multiple product  bundle patches that are part of a product suite. Oracle Identity Management Suite Bundle Patch 11.1.1.5.5 consisting of Oracle Identity Manager (OIM) 11.1.1.5.9 bundle patch Oracle Access Manager (OAM) 11.1.1.5.6 bundle patch. Oracle Adaptive Access Manager (OAAM) 11.1.1.5.2 bundle patch. Oracle Entitlement Server (OES) 11.1.1.5.4 bundle patch. Oracle Identity Management Suite Bundle Patch 11.1.2.0.4 consisting of Oracle Access Manager (OAM) 11.1.2.0.4 bundle patch. Oracle Adaptive Access Manager (OAAM) 11.1.2.0.2 bundle patch. • Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database Performance on SPARC T4-2

  The Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database is optimized to run on Oracle's SPARC T4 processor platforms running Oracle Solaris 11 providing unsurpassed scalability, performance, upgradability, protection of investment and return on investment. The following demonstrate the value of combining Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database with SPARC T4 servers and Oracle Solaris 11: On a Mobile Call Processing test, the 2-socket SPARC T4-2 server outperforms: Oracle's SPARC Enterprise M4000 server (4 x 2.66 GHz SPARC64 VII+) by 34%. Oracle's SPARC T3-4 (4 x 1.65 GHz SPARC T3) by 2.7x, or 5.4x per processor. Utilizing the TimesTen Performance Throughput Benchmark (TPTBM), the SPARC T4-2 server protects investments with: 2.1x the overall performance of a 4-socket SPARC Enterprise M4000 server in read-only mode and 1.5x the performance in update-only testing. This is 4.2x more performance per processor than the SPARC64 VII+ 2.66 GHz based system. 10x more performance per processor than the SPARC T2+ 1.4 GHz server. 1.6x better performance per processor than the SPARC T3 1.65 GHz based server. In replication testing, the two socket SPARC T4-2 server is over 3x faster than the performance of a four socket SPARC Enterprise T5440 server in both asynchronous replication environment and the highly available 2-Safe replication. This testing emphasizes parallel replication between systems. The workload can test read-only, update-only, delete and insert operations as required. Mobile Call Processing is a customer-based workload for processing calls made by mobile phone subscribers. The workload has a mixture of read-only, update, and insert-only transactions. The peak throughput performance is measured from multiple concurrent processes executing the transactions until a peak performance is reached via saturation of the available resources. Parallel Replication tests using both asynchronous and 2-Safe replication methods. For asynchronous replication, transactions are processed in batches to maximize the throughput capabilities of the replication server and network. In 2-Safe replication, also known as no data-loss or high availability, transactions are replicated between servers immediately emphasizing low latency. For both environments, performance is measured in the number of parallel replication servers and the maximum transactions-per-second for all concurrent processes. • Announcing Oracle Knowledge 8.5: Even Superheroes Need Upgrades

  It’s no secret that we like Iron Man here at Oracle. We've certainly got stuff in common: one of the world’s largest technology companies and one of the world’s strongest technology-driven superheroes. If you've seen the recent Iron Man movies, you might have even noticed some of our servers sitting in Tony Stark’s lab. Heck, our CEO made a cameo appearance in one of the movies. Yeah, we’re fans. Especially as Iron Man is a regular guy with some amazing technology – like us. But Like all great things even Superheroes need upgrades, whether it’s their suit, their car or their spacestation. Oracle certainly has its share of advanced technology.  For example, Oracle acquired InQuira in 2011 after years of watching the company advance the science of Knowledge Management.  And it was some extremely super technology.  At that time, Forrester’s Kate Leggett wrote about it in ‘Standalone Knowledge Management Is Dead With Oracle's Announcement To Acquire InQuira’ saying ‘Knowledge, accessible via web self-service or agent UIs, is a critical customer service component for industries fielding repetitive questions about policies, procedures, products, and solutions.’  One short sentence that amounts to a very tall order.  Since the acquisition our KM scientists have been hard at work in their labs. Today Oracle announced its first major knowledge management release since its acquisition of InQuira: Oracle Knowledge 8.5. We’ve put a massively-upgraded supersuit on our KM solution because we still have bad guys to fight. And we are very proud to say that we went way beyond our original plans. So what, exactly, did we do in Oracle Knowledge 8.5? We did what any high-tech super-scientist would do. We made Oracle Knowledge smarter, stronger and faster. First, we gave Oracle Knowledge a stronger heart: Certified on Oracle technologies, including Oracle WebLogic Server, Oracle Business Intelligence, Oracle Exadata Database Machine and Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud. Huge scaling and performance improvements. Then we gave it a better reach: Improved iConnect functionality that delivers contextualized knowledge directly into CRM applications. And finally we made Oracle Knowledge ridiculously smarter: Improved Natural Language Search and a new Contextual Answer Delivery that understands the true intent of each inquiry to deliver the best possible answers. AnswerFlow for Guided Navigation & Answer Delivery, a new application for guided troubleshooting and answer delivery. Knowledge Analytics standardized on Oracle’s Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition. Knowledge Analytics Dashboards optimized search and content creation through targeted, actionable insights. A new three-level language model "Global - Language - Locale" that provides an improved search experience for organizations with a global footprint. We believe that Oracle Knowledge 8.5 is the most sophisticated KM solution in existence today and we’ve worked very hard to help it fulfill the promise of KM: empowering customers and employees with deep insights wherever they need them. We hope you agree it’s a suit worth wearing. We are continuing to invest in Knowledge Management as it continues to be especially relevant today with the enterprise push for peer collaboration, crowd-sourced wisdom, agile innovation, social interaction channels, applied real-time analytics, and personalization.   Externe Einflüsse wie Gesetze fordern die IT auf, (unsere) Daten zu schützen. Doch wie prüft man die eingestellte Sicherheit einer Oracle Datenbank überhaupt? Ist die geforderte Sicherheit ausreichend umgesetzt und zwar im Idealfall entsprechend dem notwendigen Schutzbedarf? Wann haben Sie eigentlich die Sicherheit Ihrer Oracle Datenbank das letzte Mal überprüft? Und noch besser gefragt, kennen Sie die Bedrohungen und die davon abgeleiteten Risiken? Alles Fragen deren Antworten ein verantwortlicher Anwendungsbesitzer sofort parat haben sollte oder sehen Sie das anders? Wie kann man sich am besten vor Bedrohungen schützen? Die einzige richtige Antwort auf diese Frage ist, durch Informationen und daraus abgeleitetes Wissen. Nun umfassen Informationen und das darin versteckte Wissen wahrscheinlich sehr viele Quellen. Diese Links eröffnen u.U. unkontrollierte Zugriffe auf entfernte Datenbanken. Tracken Sie den Zugriff und setzen Sie ein sicheres DB Link Konzept um. Oracle liefert hier die entsprechenden Vorgaben. Definieren Sie Schutz-Policies für Ihre Anwendungen.Hierunter fällt z.B. ein richtiges Anwendungs-Owner und Anwendungs-User Setup Implementieren Sie den notwendigen Datenschutz für wichtige DatenKennen Sie die Daten, die geschützt werden müssen und schützen Sie diese angemessen. Kontrollieren Sie den Ressourcenverbrauch in Ihrer Datenbank Implementieren Sie eine sinnvolle Zwecktrennung in der DatenbankAuch bei der Datenbank ist es sinnvoll eine Zwecktrennung zu implementieren. Schalten Sie eine sinnvolle und gesetzeskonforme Protokollierung ein.Gesetze erfordern das und Oracle gibt eine Mindestprotokollierung vor. Implementieren Sie Prozesse, die den guten Zustand der Datenbank erhalten Führen Sie regelmäßige Health- Checks durchOracle liefert z.B. mit dem Enterprise Manager eine vollständige Library. Definieren Sie ein funktionierendes Patch-ManagementKennen Sie die Critical Patch Updates und handeln Sie falls notwendig. Check Oracle DB Security oder wer den Sicherheitszustand nicht kennt, wird auch keine Maßnahmen ergreifen Den Sicherheitszustand einer Oracle Datenbank zu überprüfen, ist sehr wichtig. Hierfür kann man verschiedene Anwendungen nutzen, die im Markt erhältlich sind. Eine gute Entscheidung wäre z.B. den Oracle Enterprise Manager (Cloud Control) mit dem Lifecycle Management zu nutzen, der periodisch den Sicherheitszustand für Sie ermittelt. Eine manuelle Überprüfung ist auch möglich, erfordert aber tiefes Wissen. Doch auch trotz der hohen Wissensanforderung ist ein Verstehen, wie man eine Oracle Datenbank manuell auf Sicherheit überprüft, wichtig. Vertrauen Sie nicht mehr auf Vermutungen, sondern nehmen Sie die Sicherheit Ihrer Datenbank ernst und lernen Sie den realen Zustand Ihrer Datenbank kennen. Wissen über reale Zustände und Wissen über geeignete Konzepte schützen. Erst dann können Sie entscheiden, welche Maßnahmen tatsächlich notwendig sind. Here is a summary of our latest upgrade recommendations for E-Business Suite updates and technology stack components.  These quarterly recommendations are based upon the latest updates to Oracle's product strategies, support deadlines, and newly-certified releases.  Upgrade Recommendations for October 2012 EBS 11i users should upgrade to 12.1.3, or -- if staying on 11i -- should be on the minimum 11i patching baseline, EBS 12.0 users should upgrade to 12.1.3, or -- if staying on 12.0 -- should be on the minimum 12.0 patching baseline, EBS 12.1 users should upgrade to 12.1.3. • Oracle CRM On Demand R17 and Pharma's Future

  By Denis Pombriant, Beagle Research, March 30 "Oracle announced Release 17 of CRM On-Demand today along with an updated vertical market version for the pharmaceutical industry. Seventeen is a lot of releases even for a SaaS company and Oracle should be proud of the milestone. The same is true of the emphasis on the pharmaceutical industry vertical. Oracle comes to the pharma CRM market with an assist from Siebel, the one time independent leader in CRM that Oracle bought a few years back. Before the acquisition Siebel and its pharma package had managed to corner about nineteen of the top twenty pharmaceutical companies. For a time in the last decade you could go from job to job as a pharma rep taking your Siebel skills with you and feel right at home. The writing on the wall now though is that pharmaceutical sales is transitioning to a SaaS model and Oracle is managing the transition for its customers. Oracle's done a good job of keeping up with changes in the industry and you have to admit that pharma sales is a different kettle of fish than almost anything else in CRM."
