  • Best tools to parse reports

    - by Andy Schaefer
    I have a report that I need to parse/scrape for loading into an alternate or query-able data store. The report looks like something akin to: this. My gut is that PERL would do a decent job, but I have several different permutations of the report and I don't really want to make a script around each form. This report is a pretty stock type report, and I have seen where Monarch Pro can parse these types of reports, but I have had a difficult time finding alternatives to how these could be parsed since I'm looking to do this working primarily in a Linux environment. Any suggestions?

  • parse more items

    - by user449891
    Currently I'm using zRSSFeed to parse a Menalto Gallery2 RSS feed, and only get about 5 details: link, description, title, etc. There are about 11 items within the tag. How can I get zRSSFeed to return all of them, including <media:thumbnail url="http..."> which includes a colon? Code from ZRSSFeed var html='';var row='odd';var xml=getXMLDocument(data.xmlString);var xmlEntries=xml.getElementsByTagName('item'); //if(options.header)html+='<div class="rssHeader">'+'<a href="'+feeds.link+'" title="'+feeds.description+'">'+feeds.title+'</a>'+'</div>'; //html+='<div class="rssBody">'+'<ul>';for(var i=0;i<feeds.entries.length;i++){ html+='<div class="rssBody">';for(var i=0;i<feeds.entries.length;i++){ var entry=feeds.entries[i];var entryDate=new Date(entry.publishedDate);var pubDate=entryDate.toLocaleDateString()+' '+entryDate.toLocaleTimeString(); //html+='<li class="rssRow '+row+'">' html+='<div>' //if(options.date)html+='<div>'+pubDate+'</div>' if(options.content){ //if(options.snippet&&entry.contentSnippet!=''){ //var content=entry.contentSnippet; //}else{ var content=entry.content; sq_arr = content.split('>'); sq_brr = sq_arr[0].split('?'); sq_crr = sq_arr[1].split(' width'); sq_drr = sq_crr[0].split('src'); sq_b = new RegExp(/\d+(?=\")/g).exec(sq_drr[1]); sq_c = sq_b*1-1; sq_rplc = sq_brr[1].replace(/\d+(?=\")/g, sq_c); sq_str = sq_brr[0] + '?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&' + sq_rplc + '>' + sq_crr[0] +'" height="75" width="75"></a>'; content = sq_str.r`enter code here`eplace(/&amp;/g, '&'); //} //html+='<p>'+content+'</p>' html+=content //html+='<'+options.titletag+'><a href="'+entry.link+'" title="View this feed at '+feeds.title+'" target="'+options.linktarget+'">'+entry.title+'</a></'+options.titletag+'>' } (A more human readable version -- cwallenpoole) var html=''; var row='odd'; var xml=getXMLDocument(data.xmlString); var xmlEntries=xml.getElementsByTagName('item'); html+='<div class="rssBody">'; for(var i=0;i<feeds.entries.length;i++){ var entry=feeds.entries[i]; var entryDate=new Date(entry.publishedDate); var pubDate=entryDate.toLocaleDateString()+' '+entryDate.toLocaleTimeString(); html+='<div>' if(options.content){ var content=entry.content; sq_arr = content.split('>'); sq_brr = sq_arr[0].split('?'); sq_crr = sq_arr[1].split(' width'); sq_drr = sq_crr[0].split('src'); sq_b = new RegExp(/\d+(?=\")/g).exec(sq_drr[1]); sq_c = sq_b-1; sq_rplc = sq_brr[1].replace(/\d+(?=\")/g, sq_c); sq_str = sq_brr[0] + '?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&' + sq_rplc + '>' + sq_crr[0] +'" height="75" width="75"></a>'; content = sq_str.r`enter code here`eplace(/&amp;/g, '&'); html+=content } // missing }???

  • FileHelpers cannot map converted field into destination array

    - by jaffa
    I have the following record (reduced for brevity): [DelimitedRecord(",")] [IgnoreFirst] [IgnoreEmptyLines()] public class ImportRecord { [FieldQuoted] [FieldTrim(TrimMode.Both)] public string FirstName; [FieldQuoted] [FieldTrim(TrimMode.Both)] public string LastName; [FieldQuoted] [FieldTrim(TrimMode.Both)] [FieldOptional] [FieldConverter(typeof(TestPropertyConverter))] public int[] TestProperty; } Converter code: public class TestPropertyConverter : ConverterBase { public override object StringToField(string from) { var ret = from.Split('|').Select(x => Convert.ToInt32(x)).ToArray(); return ret; } } So an example record could be: John, Smith, 1|2|3|4 It would expect the values 1,2,3,4 to expand and fill the TestProperty array. However, I'm getting the following exception: At least one element in the source array could not be cast down to the destination array type. I've tried to debug into the code and it seems to blow-up in the ExtractFieldValue() function inside FieldBase.cs where it tries to return out of the function. The following line seems to be the culprit: res.ToArray(ArrayType); It seems to expect the 'res' variable to be the destination type array, but it contains 1 element of the array itself. Can anyone suggest if I'm doing this wrong or a possible fix?

  • Python/YACC Lexer: Token priority?

    - by Rosarch
    I'm trying to use reserved words in my grammar: reserved = { 'if' : 'IF', 'then' : 'THEN', 'else' : 'ELSE', 'while' : 'WHILE', } tokens = [ 'DEPT_CODE', 'COURSE_NUMBER', 'OR_CONJ', 'ID', ] + list(reserved.values()) t_DEPT_CODE = r'[A-Z]{2,}' t_COURSE_NUMBER = r'[0-9]{4}' t_OR_CONJ = r'or' t_ignore = ' \t' def t_ID(t): r'[a-zA-Z_][a-zA-Z_0-9]*' if t.value in reserved.values(): t.type = reserved[t.value] return t return None However, the t_ID rule somehow swallows up DEPT_CODE and OR_CONJ. How can I get around this? I'd like those two to take higher precedence than the reserved words.

  • Modifying text files and executing programs with command line parameters in c# or c++ on Linux

    - by Robert Harvey
    I have a need to create a utility in Suze Linux. The utility will make modifications to some text files, and then use the information in those text files to program a device in the computer using a different executable which accepts command line parameters. I am fluent in c#, but have never worked with Linux. Should I take the time to learn Gnu C++ to do this, or install Mono? How would I execute the programming utility and pass it command line parameters?

  • Little Regular Expression (against HTML) help

    - by Marcos Placona
    Hi, I have the following HTML <p>Some text <a title="link" href="http://link.com/" target="_blank">my link</a> more text <a title="link" href="http://link.com/" target="_blank">more link</a>.</p> <p>Another paragraph.</p> <p>[code:cf]</p> <p>&lt;cfset ArrFruits = ["Orange", "Apple", "Peach", "Blueberry", </p> <p>"Blackberry", "Strawberry", "Grape", "Mango", </p> <p>"Clementine", "Cherry", "Plum", "Guava", </p> <p>"Cranberry"]&gt;</p> <p>[/code]</p> <p>Another line</p> <p><img src="http://image.jpg" alt="Array" /> </p> <p>More text</p> <p>[code:cf]</p> <p>&lt;table border="1"&gt;</p> <p> &lt;cfoutput&gt;</p> <p> &lt;cfloop array="#GroupsOf(ArrFruits, 5)#" index="arrFruitsIX"&gt;</p> <p>  &lt;tr&gt;</p> <p> &lt;cfloop array="#arrFruitsIX#" index="arrFruit"&gt;</p> <p>     &lt;td&gt;#arrFruit#&lt;/td&gt;</p> <p> &lt;/cfloop&gt;</p> <p>  &lt;/tr&gt;</p> <p> &lt;/cfloop&gt;</p> <p> &lt;/cfoutput&gt;</p> <p>&lt;/table&gt;</p> <p>[/code]</p> <p>With an output that looks like:</p> <p><img src="another_image.jpg" alt="" width="342" height="85" /></p> What I'm trying to do, is write a regular expression that will remove all the or , and whenever it finds a , it will replace it with a line-break. So far, my pattern looks like this: /\<p\>(.*?)(<\/p>)/g And I'm replacing the matches with: $1\n It all looks good, but it's also replacing the contents inside the [code][/code] tags, which in this case should not replace the tags at all, so as a result, i would lkike to get rid of the tags, when the content isn't inside the [code] tags. I can't ever get negation right, I know it will be something along the lines of \<p\>^\[code*\](.*?)(<\/p>) But obviously this doesn't work :-) Could anyone please lend me a hand with this regex? BTW, I know I shouldn't be using regular expressions to parse HTML at all. I'm fully aware of that, but still, for this specific case, I'd like to use regex. Thanks in advance

  • Split string into smaller part with constrain [PHP RegEx HTML]

    - by Sadi
    Hello, I need to split long string into a array with following constrains: Each part will have a limited number of character (e.g. not more than 8000 character) Each part can contain multiple sentences (delimited by . [full stop]) but never a partial sentences. Except if the last part of the string (as last part may not have any full stop. The string may contain HTML tags. But the tag can not be divided as ( to ). That means HTML tag should be intact. But starting tag and ending tag can be stay on different segment/chunk. I think regular expression with preg_split can do it. Would please help me with the proper RegEx. Thank you Sadi

  • jQuery display text nested in paragraphs inside a div

    - by user961627
    I have HTML that looks something like this: <div class='textbox' data-title='Sometitle'> <div class='textareaedit'> <p><strong>Test sample text</strong></p> </div> </div> I'm sometimes going to have a few different <p> tags inside the textareaedit divs, and sometimes strong tags around the text inside the <p> (as in this example), and sometimes a span tag, and sometimes it's going to be without further tags inside the <p>. I want to iterate through each textbox on my page, grab its title and also the text nested inside <p> tags in textareaedit. I'm giving the output via console for testing. This is my jQuery code, but I get no output for the second console.log() line: $('.textbox').each(function() { $this = $(this); console.log($this.attr('data-title')+ ":\n"); $this.children('textareadit').children('p').each(function(){ console.log($(this).html()); // not giving any output, it's blank }); }); I tried $(this).text() as well, but no difference. You may think this example has the sample text inside <strong> tags within the <p>, but I've also tried the same example without the strong, where the text was the direct child of <p>, but it didn't make a difference. How can I capture the text?

  • Convert an XML object back into a string in ColdFusion

    - by jpmyob
    In ColdFusion, I can parse a string of XML formatted data into an XML Object using xmlParse(). How can I convert it back into a string? When I tried using toString() it throws an error that "it can't convert complex object to simple objects....", which is ironic because that's what it's supposed to do. I need to use XMLTransform() which requires the first argument to be an xml string. But I also need to use xmlSearch() to get a node to pass into my transform, and xmlSearch returns an xmlObject. So now I need to put that object back into xml string format to pass into xmlTransform.

  • building objects from xml file at runtime and intializing, in one pass?

    - by KaluSingh Gabbar
    I have to parse the XML file and build objects representation based on that, now once I get all these data I create entries in various database for these data objects. I have to do second pass over that for value as in the first pass all I could do is build the assets in various databases. and in second pass I get the values for all the data and put it in the database. I have a feeling that this can be done in a single pass but I just want to see what are your opinions. As I am just a student who started with professional work, experienced ppl please help. Can someone who have ideas or done similar work, please provide some light on the topic so that I can think over the possibility of the work and get the prototype going based on your suggestion. Thanks a lot for your precious time, I honestly appreciate it.

  • What sort of object is this and how to use it?

    - by Gary
    What would be the correct name for this type of array? There are 3 main sections and 4 sub-parts consisting of "issuedTime" "text" "url" and "validToTime", how do you start to convert this to an object? If there was only 1 main section, it would be fairly simple to do however with 3 main parts and no identification for each main section has me scratching my head as where to start. Any advise appreciated. [{ "issuedTime":"7:13pm Sunday 13 June 2010", "text":"\nAmended 7:10pm.\n\nText text and more text\n", "url":"\/folder\/fc\/name.png", "validToTime":"12:00am Monday 14 June 2010" },{ "issuedTime":"8:33pm Sunday 13 June 2010", "text":"\nText and more text.\n", "url":"\/folder\/fc\/name.png", "validToTime":"12:00pm Monday 14 June 2010" },{ "issuedTime":"10:40am Sunday 13 June 2010", "text":"\nAnd even more text.", "url":"\/folder\/fc\/name.png", "validToTime":"12:00am Tuesday 15 June 2010" } ]

  • Relative Dates with Datejs

    - by Prasanna
    I have a requirement where in, I have to parse the dates relative to a date object returned from the server side. But the datejs library always considers only the browsers date object. The situation is something like this: The server gives back the date in PST and the browser is in IST. And all the inputs are getting parsed with respect to the current date in IST instead of current date in PST. Is there any way I could resolve this. Or could you suggest any workarounds. Thanks in advance.
