• PHP on IIS7 not showing pages

  I have a PHP website on a Windows 7 machine I'm working with and it cannot be viewed by any browser - IE, Chrome, Firefox. When navigating to the root of the website (default index.php) the browser reports it cannot find the address. Not a 404 error from the webserver, just as if it cannot resolve the name. Other websites in the same default web application that are also PHP work perfectly. I've aligned all folder permissions and everything else but this has got me stumped. I even went as far to create a new folder and throw in a test phpinfo() page and it worked. Copied this website's content to the new folder and it cannot find the index.php page. I checked all setting I know and can't seem to find what I'm missing. Anyone else encounter this issue? Remember the fix for it?

  Hello, I did the yum install for apache, mysql, php, phpmyadmin. localhost/phpmyadmin displays correctly. I would assume PHP function correctly. • Owner of uploads directory is `www-data` but this prevents FTP access via PHP scripts

  To allow write access to Apache, I needed to chown www-data:www-data /var/www/mysite/uploads to my site's upload folder. This allows me to delete files from the folder via unlink() in a PHP script. Unfortunately, this prevents another PHP script, which uses FTP functions, from working. I think it is because the FTP user is mike and now that the uploads directory is owned by www-data, mike cannot access it. I added mike to the group www-data, but this does not fix the issue. Can somebody advise me on how to allow PHP FTP functions to work in addition to file deletion using PHP's unlink() function?

  Firstly, I must admit that I don't know much about setting up PHP beyond the basics. I have an Ubuntu 10.04 server system (hosted) running primarily as an FTP store for a commercial store software. The server that the commercial store is installed on is unfortunately not very reliable, and would like to move that to this Ubuntu 10.04 server. (We've already received permission from the store vendor to do this.) My problem is that they use Zend optimizer which is only compatible with PHP 5.2. I have tried a couple of "hacks" to downgrade PHP to 5.2, but it breaks so many other things that it doesn't seem worth it. My idea is to install some sort of container of Ubuntu 8.04 (like OpenVZ) on the server to house a native install of PHP 5.2 to meet the dependency of the store software. However, it appears that OpenVZ is no longer supported on Ubuntu. Is there another solution similar that I could run on a hosted server to installed a separate "container-like" 8.04 system?

  I need some help with an error I have not encountered before and can't seem to find anywhere. In a PHP mvc framework (just from a tutorial) I have the following: // Initiate the class $className = 'Controller_' . ucfirst($controller); if (class_exists($className)) { $controller = new $className($this->registry); } $className is showing the correct class name (case is also correct). But when I run it I get this in the apache error log (no php error) [Wed Mar 31 10:34:12 2010] [notice] child pid 987 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) Process id is different on every call. I am running PHP 5.3.0 on os x 10.6. This site seems to work on 5.2.11 on another Mac. Not really sure where to go next to debug it. I guess it could be an apache setting as much as a php bug or a problem with the code... any suggestions on where to look next?

  So the same code works on my ubuntu server but when I upload it to my dedicated hosting server running CentOS it seems to add an extra prefix of .:/usr/share/pear:/usr/share/php: I tried setting includepath to different things but it just doesn't work. the file is in a directory called language in the same folder as the file that is including it and I'm using : include dirname(FILE).DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR."language".DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR."storage.inc"; and include dirname(__FILE__)."/language/language.php"; and include "language/language.php"; and alot of other combinations but I can't get it to find the file. • HTML files browsable but PHP ones aren't

  Hello I'm checking the ftp settings a client has sent me. I can create, edit and upload/download .html files fine. However I'm finding that .php files aren't brows-able, unless I don't use php tags. I know very little about the clients server at this point, but I have checked for a .htaccess file and not found one. What else can I do to determine if php is supported? This seems to be resolved.

  I am using IIS as a webserver on my development machine for PHP webdevelopment. Or at least, I am trying to. When there is a syntax error in a PHP script and I open that file in my webbrowser, I just get an 503 "internal server error" and the default IIS error page for this error. Some browsers dont open that file at all, possibly because of the 503 HTTP Response Header. I would like IIS to act in that case just like the apache webserver: display the PHP file with the error anyway, so that the error message gets printed out. How can this be done? EDIT: PHP settings: display_errors is on and error_reporting is set to E_ALL

• Nginx + PHP-FPM Too Many Resources

  My Server has the following Specs CPU: 6 Cores Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2650 v2 @ 2.60GHz RAM: 32 GB I have a problem with nginx+php-fpm. They are taking too many resources for an unknown reason. Even if i restart the nginx + php-fpm the start up processes will use many resources. • How to get uncaught PHP errors from fcgi server

  My web hosting company recently replaced suPHP with fcgi on my dedicated server because I needed opcode functionality. Since then I see loads of 500 errors in apache error and php error log is empty. I have no way to figure out whats the root cause. One reason I found out was time out so my hosting company changed FcgidConnectTimeout and FcgidIOTimeout to a value of 200. I believe there are no more timeout errors in my php script. My question is how do I capture PHP error before 500 internal server error page display to user? I am using Centos 5.8 server, WHM 11.34.0 (build 9), PHP 5.3.18 and Apache/2.2.23 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.23 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 mod_fcgid/2.3.6

This is 'uname -a' : Linux xxxxxx.com 2.6.32-042stab061.2 #1 SMP Fri Aug 24 09:07:21 MSK 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux It's a VPS hosted in my main dedicated server (OpenVZ). • php crashes when I try to add extensions

  Hi all, I am trying to install phpmyadmin on my web server with Windows 2008 and iis 7. PHP is running fine and I have several sites that rely on it. When installing phpmyadmin - it has errors at the bottom that crypt and mbstring are not properly installed. When I try to add the php_mcrypt.dll and/or the php_mbstring.dll to the php.ini file (I verified the location and the right file through phpinfo) it crashes. I get a 500 error on all the websites, and I get an error on the server saying FastCGI has failed. Does anyone know how to fix this or why it is happening? Shouldn't I be able to add extenstions? I have the dll files in the extension folder, which is referenced in the php.ini and other extensions (installed previously) are working as expected. Other info: php version 5.2.8, pdo driver for mysql version 5.0.51a Thanks in advance!

  Just started working with CentOS 5 after wanting to leave Ubuntu server for something a bit more industry-standard, and while trying to configure php-cgi, I run into this: [root@~~~~~~~ run]# /etc/init.d/php_cgi start Starting php-cgi: spawn-fcgi: child exited with: 255 [FAILED] Not 100% sure what's happening here, but no Google result returns anything regarding error code 255. • Taking over and Moving a PHP site

  I have a internal use PHP site at my new position. It only runs a few days a year off site so we keep it on laptops. The hardware it has been on, a 8 year IBM Thinkpad running Fedora, is dying. I have new Lenovo Thinkpad's running latest and greatest Ubuntu. I have copied the contents of var to a shared drive, renamed the old www folder in var on the new machine and copied over the old www folder. I can get to the login page and into the site, but when I look something up it returns Cannot Open. I know I cannot get to the MySQL in the new machine because users and passwords dont match. The version of the PHP from the old machine is before the setup script was included. I know very little about PHP. I am looking for input on the proper way to link the old PHP files to my mysql instance. Any help, much appreciated.

  i've read some threads here in SO that someone managed to use gmail's smtp server to send out messages from php script. so if php sends a mail to [email protected] it looks like this: php tells sendmail (smtp server) to send the message sendmail sends the message to gmail's smtp server gmail's smtp server sends the message to hotmail's smtp server so now i wonder, why should one use gmail's smtp server to send a mail? isn't it better just to send the message from sendmail to hotmail's smtp server? correct me if im wrong, but isnt all that requires for a mail to be sent a communication between TWO smtp servers, the senders and the receivers (in this case, hotmail)? and another question, why can't php just send the message directly to hotmail's smtp server, why does it have to go through a local smtp server? and why do you call it a smtp server when sendmail is just acting like a client to send a message and does not receive anything? would be great if someone could shed a light on this topic!

• PHP application failed to connect after a network plugged back in

  My data-center appears to have had some issues with their network and thus my server has suffered from on an off network connectivity for about an hour. After the connection has been completely re-established my code still kept reporting the same issue over and over until I have restarted the service. The code is a simple PHP code that loops forever checking the Apple feed-back server and then sleeps for a few minutes and then it begins all over again. Now I understand the error being generated if the network is down but once it got back up why did it continue until I have restarted the code? Does PHP have something that needs to be re-initialized or something??   I've got a fresh CentOS 5.5 box and have installed Webmin+VirtualMin 3.79. I've enabled UserDir in apache and the sites are visible via http://ipaddress/~user/ but PHP does not work. • Apache Server with memcache, varnish and php slow request times

  My issue is that these servers are taking rather long for request about 2 seconds on average just to serve files. When we had just one server doing everything it was noticeably faster even with the same web app (Drupal 6 and Drupal 7). I want to get this number down to a reasonable level and so I need some help getting to the bottom of why the request times are so slow. This can cause the webapp to hang on post or put and generally leads to a bad user experience on my sites. PS: I am more of a server newbie so this has confounded me for quite some time. The domains: collabornation.net nptrainingworks.com (they run off the same two webservers using vhost configs) The Gear: Two Rackspace 4 Gig servers running CentOS 6.2 Final They have a mounted file system (gluster) that is used to keep files the same on both machines. They are behind a rackspace load balancer running round robin. Mysql is run using php-pdo and php-mysql as such mysql is run on another instance running memcache on that machine with phpMyAdmin located there as well.   Hi sorry for the newbie question, I am not a sys admin by any means. I recently set up a VPS with webmin/virtualmin. Our CMS of choice says that PHP needs to be run as an Apache module in order to run. It says: Recompile PHP with the flag --with-apxs I've googled but can't find how to do this particularly. I think I installed PHP using "yum install php" or thru webmin, but can't remember exactly. Appreciate if anyone can point me in the right direction.

• Find the php script thats sending mails

  Hi, Is there any way for me to find the php script that is sending emails. I have apache+php ( no mod_suphp neither suexec ) in a "standard" install, and i want to find out witch php script is sending emails, when i check the logs i just see the uid of the user that's sending the emails ( in my case apache ) but i want to find out the script that's originated the email. Is it possible or i must install suexec or mod_suphp to keep trac of that ? Thks for the help.
