  • Python named print?

    I know it's a really simple question, but I have no idea how to google it. how can I do print '<a href="%s">%s</a>' % (my_url) So that my_url is used twice? I assume I have to "name" the %s and then use a dict in the params, but I'm not sure of the proper syntax? just FYI, I'm aware I can just use my_url twice in the params, but that's not the point :)

  • Hide public method used to help test a .NET assembly

    I have a .NET assembly, to be released. Its release build includes: A public, documented API of methods which people are supposed to use A public but undocumented API of other methods, which exist only in order to help test the assembly, and which people are not supposed to use The assembly to be released is a custom control, not an application. To regression-test it, I run it in a testing framework/application, which uses (in addition to the public/documented API) some advanced/undocumented methods which are exported from the control. For the public methods which I don't want people to use, I excluded them from the documentation using the <exclude> tag (supported by the Sandcastle Help File Builder), and the [EditorBrowsable] attribute, for example like this: /// <summary> /// Gets a <see cref="IEditorTransaction"/> instance, which helps /// to combine several DOM edits into a single transaction, which /// can be undone and redone as if they were a single, atomic operation. /// </summary> /// <returns>A <see cref="IEditorTransaction"/> instance.</returns> IEditorTransaction createEditorTransaction(); /// <exclude/> [EditorBrowsable(EditorBrowsableState.Never)] void debugDumpBlocks(TextWriter output); This successfully removes the method from the API documentation, and from Intellisense. However, if in a sample application program I right-click on an instance of the interface to see its definition in the metadata, I can still see the method, and the [EditorBrowsable] attribute as well, for example: // Summary: // Gets a ModelText.ModelDom.Nodes.IEditorTransaction instance, which helps // to combine several DOM edits into a single transaction, which can be undone // and redone as if they were a single, atomic operation. // // Returns: // A ModelText.ModelDom.Nodes.IEditorTransaction instance. If not then instead, for this scenario, would you recommend making the methods internal and using the InternalsVisibleTo attribute? Or would you recommend some other way, and if so what and why?     I can't wrap my head around what they tried to say here in the docs for -beginUpdate: Call this method if you want subsequent insertions, deletion, and selection operations (for example, cellForRowAtIndexPath: and indexPathsForVisibleRows) to be animated simultaneously. Let's see... cellForRowAtIndexPath: and indexPathsForVisibleRows are both GETTER methods. They do not update anything and do not change anything. So why should I call -beginUpdates before calling these? And what's animated regarding these? Well, nothing, huh? Just want to make sure this is really an error in the docs and I didn't miss something.

    I have this error everywhere on eah method whereas xml comment has a summary. This has been discussed here in 2007 http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/devdocs/thread/1d0c4259-a1ec-44e7-8e37-ec936dfde854 the author said it would be solved but I downloaded the package a few days ago to try it and still get this error. Anybody uses Sandcastle Help File Builder ?

    Ugh, I can't believe I have to ask this, but where can I find previous versions of the ant manual (http://ant.apache.org/manual/index.html)? That page says, "Please use the documentation appropriate to your current version" but I can't find anything other than the current version (1.8.0) on the Web site - I had to resort to using archive.org to find the old version (which I would consider a hack, not a clean solution)...

  • Method of documentation for SQL Stored Procedures

    I work in a location where a single person is responsible for creating and maintaining all stored procedures for SQL servers, and is the conduit between software developers and the database. There are a lot of stored procedures in place, and with a database diagram it is simple enough 90% of the time to figure out what the stored procedure needs for arguments/returns as output. For the other 10% of the time, however, it would be helpful to have a reference. Since the DBA is a busy guy (aren't we all), it would be good to have some program which documents the stored procedures to a file so that the developers can see it without being able to access the SPs themselves. The question is, does anyone know of a good program to accomplish this? Basically what we need is something that gives the name of the SP, the argument list and the output, both with datatypes and a nullable flag.

    Hi, I have a txt file with columns separated by tabs and based on that file, I want to create a new file that only contains information from some of the columns. This is what I have now awk '{ print $1, $5 }' filename newfilename That works except that when column 5 contains spaces e.g 123 Street, only 123 shows up and the street is considered as another column.
