  • Best way to password protect a site? .htacess

    I created/edited a .htaccess file and I got my site password protected fine. Question though: Is there such thing as a URL key? Maybe I'm wording that incorrectly, but I would like to keep my site hidden, but be able to send out a specific URL that can view the site. What's the best way to accomplish this? Thanks in advance.

  • Help getting PHP sessions to persist after being taken off-site

    Hi, we're working on a payment gateway system with PHP. We use sessions to store the shopping cart data. The system takes you off-site to the payment processor's site, and then return you to your site. On most hosts, we have no issues when we arrive back at our site and having the session data still be there. On those with an issue, turning off the PHP session referer_check has worked in the past. We don't really want to have to include the PHPSESSID as a GET variable, and hope to avoid that. What I'm looking for is what other server configurations would cause the session to be killed, and any other workarounds there might be. Thanks for your help.

I want to move those documents to Site B when the document' status in external MSSQL DB is "approved". I want to do it in a timer job. Which way will be great to do so ?   • What CSS attribute stops my site squidging up?

    I am looking at a website on the internet with the standard centered box design (the entire site is centered in a box and has a border each side). As you shrink it, the border gets smaller but the content stays the same size. This is fine. However on their site, once you get smaller still, you simply get scrollbars. The content remains untouched. On my site if you do this, things like text and links start to scroll onto multiple lines and the whole site gets broken. How can I keep it the same even when the viewport is small?

  • nginx php-fpm empty site

    I am writing this as I was stuck trying to fix it whole night. We have recently migrated to a new server. Before migration we have been running our site on nginx + cgi (script). After migration we decided to try apache + mod_php. It was rather terrible, and I would like to migrate back to nginx, but this time I want it with php-fpm (as people say its a cool) So I did follow a number of guides and I think i done everything correctly. As well as that I have our old config files for "server" section, which i reviewed and places into new config. So I ended up having an empty site when I enter our URL. (By empty I mean blank page, no letter, errors or anything at all.) In the access log there are some weird errors like: 123.242.148.54 - - [22/Mar/2012:06:08:11 +0200] "-" 400 0 "-" "-" My guess is that php-fpm is not working, but not sure how to confirm it. Maybe some1 could give some help ?   • IIS6: Web Site presenting the wrong SSL certificate

    Consider an IIS6 installation with multiple Web Sites. Each is intended to be a different subdomain with its own cert (not a wildcard cert). Each has their host-header specified properly. foo.example.com - port 443. Require SSL w/128 bit. Working properly! It presents its SSL cert properly to the browser. Configured for a specific IP address. bar.example.com - port 443. Require SSL w/128 bit. Configured for all unassigned addresses. When inspecting the IIS property page, it fully shows the cert for bar.example.com on the View Certificate button. This is a NEW web site that is having cert problems. It's presenting the cert for foo.example.com. Ouch! Question: can you have more than one subdomains both running on separate websites with SSL certs on the same port (443)? How would you configure 2 web sites on the same range of 'all unassigned' for the same port (443) ? Update: ignoring the cert error, when browsing to https://bar, the content served is from https://foo site. When NOT using SSL, browsing to http://bar serves the correct content from bar. Just one address is assigned to this DMZ server.

  • Where do I find scripts generated by SharePoint MCMS Migration Profiles

    I am attempting to migrate data from an Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2002 instance into a new Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server (MOSS) 2007 installation using the Manage Microsoft Content Management Server Migration Profiles tool in the Operations space of MOSS Central Administration. When analyzing the profile, I receive 4 warnings, all of which may be safely ignored, but when I actually execute the migration profile, I get the same warnings and an additional error with a description of: Line 6: Incorrect syntax near ';'. I have seen this error numerous times when mucking about in SQL Server and recognize it as a Transact SQL error message, but can't find the actual SQL statement that is being executed so that I may determine the source of the error. EDIT: After enabling verbose logging on the MCMS 2002 Migration category, and poring through the Unified Logging Service (ULS) logs, I received a more complete stack trace at the point of the error, and a couple more anomalies listed below.   • Server configuration advice for new site that could get lots of traffic within 6m

    We're setting up a new web2.0 type site with elements of e-commerce. Budget is kind of tight. Due to the nature of the site and promotions, etc., we expect traffic could ramp up fairly quickly. Looking for advice for a good configuration to start with, we' looking to co-lo with CalPop in downtown LA. We've looked at Dell, ABMX.com, and got a quote from CalPop (they make their own servers as they also do managed hosting). Price range has been anywhere from about $1200-$3300 per server. We're thinking to start with a web server and db server, both with mirrored drives. It would be nice to stay under about 2k per server if possible. Min configuration for each would probably be a quad-core with 8GB Ram. Thinking to run Windows Server 2008 R2 (Web Edition?) and SQL Server 2008. Looking for advice on the best server configurations and/or brands that fit the budget, yet will allow us to smoothly scale as traffic increases. Reliability is also pretty important. Also wondering if a switch/router is necessary or useful to connect the two servers.

Currently I am having two sites live and each is working fine, Now the problem is in the URL I have the following sites: http://mbas.co.in http://u-k.in mbas was the very first site on my VPS Now in URL if I type http://mbas.co.in or http://www.mbas.co.in both redirect to my mbas website But for the second website, If in URL I type http://u-k.in then it redirects to the u-k website correctly but if I type http://www.u-k.in then it redirects me to mbas website.   • Setup site folders on Apache and PHP

    I'm trying to set up my first Apache server on my Windows PC at home and I have real trouble finding out which configuration settings go where. I downloaded and installed XAMPP which seemed to get everything nicely set up and can see a working website on http://localhost. So far so good. The point of this is to develop a website of course, and to make my life easier (irony?), I wanted to let the web site root point to my Eclipse project folder. So I opened httpd-vhosts.conf, uncommented a VirtualHost block and changed its DocumentRoot to my local path. Now when I try to load http://localhost I get a 403 (Access denied) error. So where do I configure permissions for my folder? And is that all I need to let my site run from the folder specified or am I going to have to clear another hurdle? Update: I tried to simplify things a little, so I reinstalled XAMPP and got back to a working http://localhost. Then I confirmed that httpd-vhosts.conf is included in httpd.conf and made the following changes to httpd-vhosts.conf: Uncommented the line NameVirtualHost *:80 Added a virtual host shown below. Restarted Apache and saw the expected page on http://localhost <VirtualHost *:80> DocumentRoot "C:/xampp/htdocs/" ServerName localhost ErrorLog "logs/dummy-host2.localhost-error.log" CustomLog "logs/dummy-host2.localhost-access.log" combined </VirtualHost> I then created a new folder named C:\testweb, added an index.html file and changed the DocumentRoot line shown above. For all intents and purposes I would then expect the two configurations to be equivalent. But this setup gives me an error 403. Even though the C:\testweb folder already had the same permissions as the C:\xampp\htdocs folder, I then went further and gave the Everyone group full control of C:\testweb and got exactly the same problem. So what did I miss?

  • PHP + MYSQL site perfomance

    I have to manage a site which wasn't developed by me. It is in PHP using a mysql database, which is located in the web server. The site, sometimes (when the visitors increase too much) stops responding, or respond too slow. I have developed some sites in PHP but never took care of the management so really don't know where to start. The server (the hard) seems to be fine, when the web stops responding the cpu is being used at about 55% and has a lot of memory. I'm not asking someone to solve this issue. I only would really like if someone could give me a few tips about where can I find logs and how should I read and interpret them. So, that way I would be able to know if its the net traffic, the database (which queries), or what. Thanks! Update: Forgot to say: it is a Windows Server 2003. Note: I've recorded about a day with Jet Profiler. I don't really understand all the information it provides but there is one query which it marks as really slow. It makes sense because it is a select with a where clause which has three like condition. Initially I didn't include this in my question because when I run the query from MySQL Query Browser it doesn't take any long. It is under 0.01 seconds.

  • Phusion Passenger (Apache, Sinatra) suddenly not working for a single site on my server

    I've had Phusion Passenger working for a few of my sites for months. Then, today, it stopped working for a single site. I hadn't changed anything (I hadn't even SSH'ed into the server for a week), and everything is set up the way it should for it to work. Plus, it's working fine for other sites! I'm about to pull my hair out trying to find out what's wrong, so I was hoping y'all could help. Passenger is not working on kerricklong.com -- I only get the "It works!" Apache default page. If I look at the headers, it's not even serving the X-Powered-By: Phusion Passenger (mod_rails/mod_rack) header that I get on my other (currently working) Passenger-powered sites on the same server running Ubuntu Server 10.04. The following is in my /etc/apache2/sites-available/kerricklong.com file, but it's identical (with names and paths changed) to the configuration file for the site that is working. <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName kerricklong.com ServerAlias *.kerricklong.com DocumentRoot /redacted/path/to/kerricklong.com/public ErrorLog /redacted/path/to/kerricklong.com/logs/error.log <Directory /redacted/path/to/kerricklong.com/public> Allow from all Options -MultiViews Include /etc/apache2/h5bp.conf </Directory> php_flag engine off </VirtualHost> I've got the necessary tmp/, logs/, and public/ directories, along with config.ru.     I just installed Apache 2.4 today, and I'm having some issues getting vhost configuration to work correctly. Below is the vhost conf <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin [email protected] DocumentRoot /hosting/Client/site.com/www ServerName site.com ServerAlias www.site.com <Directory "/hosting/Client/site.com/www"> Options +Indexes +FollowSymLinks Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> DirectoryIndex index.html </VirtualHost> There is an index.html file in /hosting/Client/site.com/www. When I go to the site, I receive a 403 forbidden error. The www-data group is the group on the www folder, which I've already given all permissions (r/w/x). I'm really at a loss as to why this is happening. Any thoughts? If I remove the vhost and go straight to the IP address, I get the default, "It works!" page. So I know that it's working.   • Basic Apache setup is not seeing my site

    Sorry that is a horrible thread subject, but I cannot think of a better more descriptive subject. We are running a Fedora 11 server that is currently hosting some CRM on it. I want to use a VirtualHost directive to add another site to the server. So I created this conf: /etc/httpd/conf.d/mysite.ourdomain.com.conf And here is the content: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName mysite.ourdomain.com DocumentRoot /www/mysite ServerAdmin [email protected] ErrorLog /var/log/mysite.ourdomain.com-error.log CustomLog /var/log/mysite.ourdomain.com-access.log common </VirtualHost> I restarted apache, getting the following warning: [warn] NameVirtualHost *:80 has no VirtualHosts From what I read, this warning is not related and I can ignore it and my site should still be up and running, correct? (I'll troubleshoot this error later if so) Well I have our DNS server setup to point mysite.ourdomain.com to goto this server. I can ping it and it points to the correct LAN IP, etc.. Now when I try to access it in the browswer I get nothing. It just says Connecting... and never gets there. If I try mysite.ourdomain.com or the IP address, neither one doesn't get there. It's a very simple and basic apache setup so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong... Like I said, the other thing that is running on this server is a crm and it's .conf looks something like this: Listen x.x.x.x:443 <VirtualHost x.x.x.x:443> ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName crm.ourdomain.com ErrorLog /var/log/httpd/ourdomain/crm-error.log CustomLog /var/log/httpd/ourdomain/crm-access.log common DocumentRoot /www/ourdomain/crm <IfModule mod_dir.c> DirectoryIndex /index.php </IfModule> </VirtualHost> There is also some LDAP authentication stuff in that config but I left it out cause I assumed it wasn't necessary to post. Anyone have any clue where I should start or what settings I can post from httpd.conf that would help?

  • CMS/Wiki to use for a HTML5 video site

    Greetings. I want to put up a website with instructive screencasts, and allow for people to add comments to them. I would like use the Video for Everybody technique, partly because I dislike Flash and because it helps in a small way to move the web forward [while being backwards compatable]. I recognize that HTML5 is still in draft, and that support for it varies. I do have some hosting space, and can run Perl, PHP, and Ruby on Rails applications, with a MySQL backend. I should mention that part of my working job involves running some web servers, and that I am a programmer by training (with only a limited familiarity with Perl and PHP, and none with Ruby). I should mention why I don't particularly want to go with a video hosting site (like YouTube or Vimeo): Flash Video Resolution and Quality [I'd like to put up 800x600 videos] Videos promote a club that is not stricly non-profit [ie. may fall afoul of Terms of Service] I'm already paying for web hosting, and free video hosting comes with time and bandwidth limits I don't want there to be two locations where you can comment on the video Now, having said all that, I'd be quite comfortable putting up my own HTML pages, except: that's so web 1.0! :) [ie. it does not allow for comments] I also want to do some blogging and possibly put up a wiki; the site will not be entirely screencasts So, can anyone recommend a CMS (or Wiki, or similar application) that I can customise for this purpose?

  • Configure IIS Web Site for alternate Port and receive Access Permission error

    When I configure IIS to run a Web site on Port 1414, I get the following error: --------------------------- Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager --------------------------- The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070020) However, as according to netstat the port is not in use. Completely aside from IIS, I wrote a test program (just to open the port and test it): TcpListener tcpListener; tcpListener = new TcpListener(IPAddress.Any, port); try { tcpListener.Start(); Console.WriteLine("Press \"q\" key to quit."); ConsoleKeyInfo key; do { key = Console.ReadKey(); } while (key.KeyChar != 'q'); } catch (Exception ex) { Console.WriteLine(ex.Message); } tcpListener.Stop(); The result was an exception and the following ex.Message: An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions The port was available but its "access permissions" are not allowing me access. This remains after several restarts. The port is not reserved or in use as far as I know and while IIS says it is in use, netstat and my test program say it is not and my test program receives the error that I am not allowed to access the port. The test program ran elevated. The IIS Site is running MQSeries, but the MQ listener also cannot start on port 1414 because of this issue. A quick search of my registry found nothing interesting for port 1414. What are socket access permissions and how can I correct mine to allow access?

  • Site hanging in iis7 - how do I troubleshoot?

    I am currently having a problem with a windows 2008 server running IIS 7. The server runs several sites but only seems to have the issue with one particular site. Every so often, the whole server slows to a crawl with nearly all requests timing out! Invariably, when we log in to take a look there is always an IIS process using up around 90% cpu. Looking into the worker processes in IIS there are usually one or two requests that have been running for a long time. They are always in the ExecuteRequestHandler state with ManagedPipeline as the module name and the current ones i'm looking at have been running for 7686248 (what units is this in, it doesn't say?). It is also not always the same page, in fact we have seen at least 3 different pages listed under url when this has happened. It seems that the only way to bring the server back to life is to kill the 90% process! The site is running under .Net 4.0 and the code on it is very similar to other sites on the server which do not have the problem! How do I start troubleshooting this?

This matter is URGENT. Trying to understand. Some hacker hacked VPS, placed some file (?) with content that redirects to www.connet-itunes.fr/iTunesConnect.woasp? Then questions 1) how can I find the file? Where it may be located? url is URL: hxxp://111.11.111.111/ IP address, not domain name 2) What to do to protect VPS (with CentOS)? Any tutorial? Where may be security problem? I mean may be someone faced something similar....
