  I'm using SWIG to wrap C++ objects for use in lua, and Im trying to pass data to a method in my lua script, but it always comes out as 'nil' void CTestAI::UnitCreated(IUnit* unit){ lua_getglobal(L, "ai"); lua_getfield(L, -1, "UnitCreated"); swig_module_info *module = SWIG_GetModule( L ); swig_type_info *type = SWIG_TypeQueryModule( module, module, "IUnit *" ); SWIG_NewPointerObj(L,unit,type,0); lua_epcall(L, 1, 0); } Here is the lua code: function AI:UnitCreated(unit) if(unit == nil) then game:SendToConsole("I CAN HAS nil ?") else game:SendToConsole("I CAN HAS UNITS!!!?") end end unit is always nil. I have checked and in the C++ code, the unit pointer is never invalid/null I've also tried: void CTestAI::UnitCreated(IUnit* unit){ lua_getglobal(L, "ai"); lua_getfield(L, -1, "UnitCreated"); SWIG_NewPointerObj(L,unit,SWIGTYPE_p_IUnit,0); lua_epcall(L, 1, 0); } with identical results.   The MSDN CreatMutex() documentation (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms682411%28VS.85%29.aspx) contains the following remark near the end: Two or more processes can call CreateMutex to create the same named mutex. The first process actually creates the mutex, and subsequent processes with sufficient access rights simply open a handle to the existing mutex. This enables multiple processes to get handles of the same mutex, while relieving the user of the responsibility of ensuring that the creating process is started first. When using this technique, you should set the bInitialOwner flag to FALSE; otherwise, it can be difficult to be certain which process has initial ownership. Can somebody explain the problem with using bInitialOwner = TRUE? Earlier in the same documentation it suggests a call to GetLastError() will allow you to determine whether a call to CreateMutext() created the mutex or just returned a new handle to an existing mutex: Return Value If the function succeeds, the return value is a handle to the newly created mutex object. If the function fails, the return value is NULL. To get extended error information, call GetLastError. If the mutex is a named mutex and the object existed before this function call, the return value is a handle to the existing object, GetLastError returns ERROR_ALREADY_EXISTS, bInitialOwner is ignored, and the calling thread is not granted ownership. However, if the caller has limited access rights, the function will fail with ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED and the caller should use the OpenMutex function.

• TCP 3 way handshake

  Hi, i'm just observing what NMAP is doing for the 3 ports it reports are open. I understand what a half-scan attack is, but what's happening doesnt make sense. NMAP is reporting ports 139 are 445 are open..... all fine. But when i look at the control bits, NMAP never sends RST once it has found out the port is open, It does this for port 135- but not 139 and 445. This is what happens: (I HAVE OMITTED THE victim's replies) Sends a 2 (SYN) Sends a 16 (ACK) Sends a 24 (ACK + PST) Sends a 16 (ACK) Sends a 17 (ACK + FIN) I dont get why NMAP doesnt 'RST' ports 139 and 445??

• How to develop an english .com domain value rating algorithm?

  I've been thinking about an algorithm that should rougly be able to guess the value of an english .com domain in most cases. For this to work I want to perform tests that consider the strengths and weaknesses of an english .com domain. A simple point based system is what I had in mind, where each domain property can be given a certain weight to factor it's importance in. I had these properties in mind: domain character length Eg. initially 20 points are added. If the domain has 4 or less characters, no points are substracted. For each extra character, one or more points are substracted on an exponential basis (the more characters, the higher the penalty). domain characters Eg. initially 20 points are added. If the domain is only alphabetic, no points are substracted. For each non-alhabetic character, X points are substracted (exponential increase again). domain name words Scans through a big offline english database, including non-formal speech, eg. words like "tweet" should be recognized. Question 1 : where can I get a modern list of english words for use in such application? Are these lists available for free? Are there lists like these with non-formal words? The more words are found per character, the more points are added. So, a domain with a lot of characters will still not get a lot of points. words hype-level I believe this is a tricky one, but this should be the cause to differentiate perfect but boring domains from perfect and interesting domains. For example, the following domain is probably not that valueable: www.peanutgalaxy.com The algorithm should identify that peanuts and galaxies are not very popular topics on the web. This is just an example. On the other side, a domain like www.shopdeals.com should ring a bell to the hype test, as shops and deals are quite popular on the web. My initial thought would be to see how often these keywords are references to on the web, preferably with some database. Question 2: is this logic flawed, or does this hype level test have merit? Question 3: are such "hype databases" available? Or is there anything else that could work offline? The problem with eg. a query to google is that it requires a lot of requests due to the many domains to be tested. domain name spelling mistakes Domains like "freemoneyz.com" etc. are generally (notice I am making a lot of assumptions in this post but that's necessary I believe) not valueable due to the spelling mistakes. Question 4: are there any offline APIs available to check for spelling mistakes, preferably in javascript or some database that I can use interact with myself. Or should a word list help here as well? use of consonants, vowels etc. A domain that is easy to pronounce (eg. Google) is usually much more valueable than one that is not (eg. Gkyld). Question 5: how does one test for such pronuncability? Do you check for consonants, vowels, etc.? What does a valueable domain have? Has there been any work in this field, where should I look? That is what I came up with, which leads me to my final two questions. Question 6: can you think of any more english .com domain strengths or weaknesses? Which? How would you implement these? Question 7: do you believe this idea has any merit or all, or am I too naive? Anything I should know, read or hear about? Suggestions/comments? Thanks!

I have the image appear and the submit button disappear - but nothing happens when I click on the image.   Hello! I recently used git-svn to clone an SVN repository, for the purposes of maintaining my own branch of an open-source project. I'm also working with others on this branch, so we use a shared Git repository to help with the collaboration. A colleague wishes to fetch new revisions from the original SVN repository. How might he accomplish this? I can simply run "git svn fetch" on my local machine, but seeing that my colleague has cloned from the shared Git repository, his local branch lacks the necessary SVN metadata for fetching. Thanks!

• WYSIWYG-editor with "add custom html feature" and secure (validated) html output?

  I've been looking into some of the WYSIWYG editors (TinyMCE, FCKEditor, etc.) and they all seem to offer a lot of options. However, one vital feature that seems to lack is a simple "add custom html" option which would allow the user to input any of these embed-snippets you find all around the web these days, for example a youtube video. This is different than a "edit html/source" feature as that requires actual knowledge of html and there is the risk of the user writing invalid code. Another issue that I couldn't find much about is the output html. How would I make sure that this output causes no security invulnerabilities? Even when the user has the ability to add his own html? So, basically, is there an open source WYSIWYG editor which covers these 2 features?

• Django Aggregation Across Reverse Relationship

I can get a list of profile ids sorted by total views with: ProfileView.objects.values('profile').annotate(Count('profile')).order_by('-profile__count') But that's just a dictionary of profile ids, which means I then have to loop over it and put together a list of profile objects. Which is a number of additional queries and still doesn't result in a QuerySet. At that point, I might as well drop to raw SQL. Before I do, is there a way to do this from the Profile model? ProfileViews are related via a ForeignKey field, but it's not as though the Profile model knows that, so I'm not sure how to tie the two together. As an aside, I realize I could just store views as a property on the Profile model and that may turn out to be what I do here, but I'm still interested in learning how to better use the Aggregation functions.

• UIWebView doesn't scroll to the bottom of the webpage loaded/created

  I have a UIWebView inside a normal UIViewController. The content of the UIWebView is programming/dynamically created in my program, and it could be very long (multiple table rows). Somehow, after loading, the page won't scroll more then one and half screen of content when swipe on the screen. Because of that I can only see the beginning few rows of data, but not the many others after them. Why is that?

• asp.net mvc script and style references

  I'm trying to include script and style references that will not break on deployment, however I can not even get the references to work locally. I have tried using Url.Content() and MVCContrib's <%=Html.ScriptInclude("")%>. My scripts are in a Scripts folder on the root of the site; my styles are in the usual Content/css/ folder. The scripts render like this: <script type="text/javascript" src="/Scripts/MicrosoftAjax.debug.js" ></script> This will not work in a view page in the Views folder. What am I doing wrong and what is the best way to handle this? I would have thought Url.Content() would at least work for styles but used in my master page, the link rendered <link href="/Content/css/Site.css rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> This does not work, because the Master Page is in a Shared folder, so what is really the way forward with this?

• Fixing "Lock wait timeout exceeded; try restarting transaction" for a 'stuck" Mysql table?

  From a script I sent a query like this thousands of times to my local database: update some_table set some_column = some_value I forgot to add the where part, so the same column was set to the same a value for all the rows in the table and this was done thousands of times and the column was indexed, so the corresponding index was probably updated too lots of times. I noticed something was wrong, because it took too long, so I killed the script. I even rebooted my computer since them, but something stuck in the table, because simple queries take a very long time to run and when I try dropping the relevant index it fails with this message: Lock wait timeout exceeded; try restarting transaction It's an innodb table, so stuck the transaction is probably implicit. How can I fix this table and remove the stuck transaction from it?

• Amazon S3 as secure backup without multiple invoices

  I'm storing copies of database backups on Amazon S3 using the Python Boto library. But I worry that if my web server was hacked, those backups could be deleted using the credentials I need to do the upload. Ok, so I know you can grant permissions to another Amazon email address, so I can imagine doing that after an upload then removing the original user's write access BUT in this scenario I now end up with 2 accounts and 2 sets of invoices to give to accounts every month. Is there a solution to this that doesn't require a new Amazon account for each web server I run?

• Manipulate Excel workbooks programmatically

  I have an Excel workbook that I want to use as a template. It has several worksheets setup, one that produces the pretty graphs and summarizes the numbers. Sheet 1 needs to be populated with data that is generated by another program. The data comes in a tab delimited file. Currently the user imports the tab delimited file into a new Workbook, selects all and copies. Then goes to the template and pastes the data into sheet1. This is a large amount of data, 269 columns and over 135,000 rows. It’s a cumbersome process and the users are not experienced Excel users. All they really want is the pretty graphs. I would like to add a step after the program that generates the data to programmatically automate the process the user currently must do manually. Can anyone suggest the best method/programming language that could accomplish this?

The method initialize(capture#10-of ? extends Annotation) in the type MyConstraintValidator<capture#10-of ? extends Annotation> is not applicable for the arguments (Annotation) If I remove the wild cards, then it compiles and works fine. What would be the propert way to declare the type parameter for the vairable validatorClass? Thanks.

• Glassfish: Storing Java classes in the docroot folder?

  I'm very new to using Glassfish or JSP. I have this working in NetBeans (which has Glassfish bundled) but when I try to put it on my server which is running Glassfish Server, I really don't know what I'm doing. I can place a JSP file in "domains/domain1/docroot/index.jsp" and it will work when I visit my site, but I can't, for some reason, get Java classes to work. I copied the files in "/build/web/" from the NetBeans project to the docroot folder on my server. The errors I get when I visit the site are: org.apache.jasper.JasperException: PWC6033: Error in Javac compilation for JSP PWC6199: Generated servlet error: string:///index_jsp.java:7: package test does not exist PWC6197: An error occurred at line: 5 in the jsp file: /index.jsp PWC6199: Generated servlet error: string:///index_jsp.java:52: cannot find symbol symbol : class TestClass location: class org.apache.jsp.index_jsp PWC6197: An error occurred at line: 5 in the jsp file: /index.jsp PWC6199: Generated servlet error: string:///index_jsp.java:52: cannot find symbol symbol : class TestClass location: class org.apache.jsp.index_jsp The actual Java class is in "WEB-INF/classes/test/TestClass.class" (it is pre-compiled).
