    As I understand it, and I may be wrong, but GAE's remote_api allows one application to access another application's datastore. I'll be blunt I don't understand how this works. I have read the article that everyone likes to point to, but I still don't understand how you can link two applications. Can someone explain it to me, perhaps with a small example or just point me to a tutorial that does this?

  • Why is .htaccess not allowed in a directory but is allowed in another?

    I have apache2 installed on ubuntu 10.4 inside my var/www/ directory [amung others] I have a cakephp and a dvdcatalog directories. Each of which have CakePHP 1.3 installed. I can access them both via localhost/cakephp and localhost/dvdcatalog But the dvdcatalog shows up with no css styling. They both have these files: /var/www/cakephp/app/webroot/css/cake.generic.css /var/www/dvdcatalog/app/webroot/css/cake.generic.css But when I go to http://localhost/cakephp/css/cake.generic.css it sees the file but it does not see the file when I go to http://localhost/dvdcatalog/css/cake.generic.css I think this means the cakephp folder is able to use .htaccess and the dvdcatalog is not. I setup the cakephp directory last month when I was following in the blog tutorial. I am setting up the dvdcatalog directory now for a different tutorial. So I am not sure if I am missing a step. in my /etc/apache2/apache2.conf file I have this: <Directory "/var/www/*"> Order allow,deny Allow from all AllowOverride All </Directory> Which I thought gave .htaccesss to all. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem is?

  • Getting Windows (VMware) to load from OSX's localhost without an Internet Connection

    I'm using MAMP to host my local sites, and VirtualHostX so that I can access sites during local development via a convenient URL like mysite.dev I'm also running Windows XP via VirtualBox, and it would be great to be able to load up any of my local sites within windows while offline as currently often working without access, on the move, unfortunately. I know that I can append my IP and a nice domain name to the host file in C:/WINDOWS/system32/drivers/etc ... and i can find my IP simply through terminal with "ifconfig" while I'm online. The problem is that when I'm not online, there's no IP. Even if there is an IP (when i have a connection), I still have grab it and update the windows hosts' file all the time, since I'm developing from a laptop and have a new IP at the drop of a dime. I found a tutorial where the author is able to get a permanent IP. He uses VMware Fusion as his VMachine, which is the only difference between his setup and mine. By running the terminal command "ifconfig vmnet1" he gets: a secret IP the virtual machine uses to talk to OSX And that doesn't change - which is awesome. I'm assuming it exists even if he's offline.   • Ubuntu 10.04 RGBA(Transparent theme) bug

    I tried to follow this tutorial frome ghacks.net. But I end up with a bug. Everytime I try to change the desktop background or the theme. It opens up lots of folders. And then close it back again. So I cannot do anything when I try to change the background or the theme to the default. Here is the tutorial And I can't even shutdown my machine now, please help. EDIT I tried executing these commands in the terminal sudo add-apt-repository ppa:erik-b-andersen/rgba-gtk sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade sudo apt-get install gnome-color-chooser gtk2-module-rgba sudo apt-get install murrine-themes And it installed gnome color changer. It works, and the windows became transparent, but I can't change to the default theme and I can't put a background Here's the screenshot, when I try to change something in the preferences: Its just okay if I can't change the theme, but it won't let me change the background either. Or maybe the background is changed but its transparent just like the other windows. You can see that in the taskbar(or whatever its called in Ubuntu). Its full. What can I do to atleast make the background visible.

  • Blending Background for Polar Distortion in GIMP

    I followed a tutorial to perform a polar distortion on a panoramic image. The instructions are geared for Photoshop but seem to mostly apply to GIMP as well. The only thing I couldn't really figure out was how they were able to automatically fill in the area around the circle by "extending" the border of the circle. e.g. In GIMP, performing the polar distortion leaves a black white canvas around the circle, not the attractive blended background shown in the tutorial. Is there an easy way to implement this? The only way I found was to reserve half of the "square" as blank canvas and then manually copy the image's top row of pixels over this empty portion. Then, after the polar distortion, I crop out the extra area. Although this achieves the effect, it seems a bit awkward. How do you stretch selections? Ideally, I just want to select the top row and stretch it vertically until it fills in half of the canvas. Instead I had to manaully copy, paste, translate, etc.

This matter is URGENT. We believe that individuals are being falsely directed to this page and may be persuaded into divulging personal information to a criminal, if the content is not immediately disabled. Trying to understand. Some hacker hacked VPS, placed some file (?) with content that redirects to www.connet-itunes.fr/iTunesConnect.woasp? Then questions 1) how can I find the file? Where it may be located? url is URL: hxxp://111.11.111.111/ IP address, not domain name 2) What to do to protect VPS (with CentOS)? Any tutorial? Where may be security problem? I mean may be someone faced something similar....

  • SVN checkout returns 400 error

    I'm trying to download the http://code.opencv.org/svn/opencv/trunk/ repository of all of the OpenCV source code - as specified in an OpenCV installation tutorial. In the tutorial, the repository https://code.ros.org/svn/opencv/trunk/ is used, but they moved it to http://code.opencv.org/svn/opencv/trunk/, and now you need a password to access the code.ros.org repository. Anyway, I'm using TortoiseSVN to download the SVN repository. (I get the same error with http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32svn/) I get this: Checkout from http://code.opencv.org/svn/opencv/trunk, revision HEAD, Fully recursive, Externals included Server sent unexpected return value (400 Bad request. Method Unknown) in response to REPORT request for '/svn/opencv/!svn/vcc/default' On the TortoiseSVN site I found something about this 400 error: You're behind a firewall which blocks DAV requests. Most firewalls do that. Either ask your Administrator to change the firewall, or access the repository with https:// instead of http:// like in https://svn.collab.net/repos/svn/ That way you connect to the repository with SSL encryption, which firewalls can't interfere with (if they don't block the SSL port completely). Also some virus scanners (i.e. Kapersky) are known to interfere and cause this error. The code.ros.org repository is https://, so I would be able to access it, but I need a password, so I can't. I made an account on ros.org, but it seems that I still need a password (which I don't know) to access the code repository. My username-password combination does not work. I unblocked all of the TortoiseSVN programs in my firewall settings. Nothing changed. I temporarily stopped my firewall to see if it was interfering with my request. I got the same error. How can I do an svn checkout http://code.opencv.org/svn/opencv/trunk/opencv/ so that I don't get this error? Is there any way to make it https://? Any help would be appreciated!

    I just got myself a slicehost basic slice to play around with so I can learn how to setup web-servers. I have Ubuntu 10.04.2 installed on the server. I was able to successfully get the server up and running from scratch, these were the things I did - following this tutorial. I know this is probably just a starters tutorial, so, I was wondering if you guys can tell me what you like to do while setting up production servers. These are the steps that were followed : Update and Upgrade Ubuntu sudo apt-get install apache2 php5-mysql libapache2-mod-php5 mysql-server Backup a copy of and edit apache2.conf Set : 'ServerTokens Full' to 'ServerTokens Prod''ServerSignature On' to 'ServerSignature Off' Backup php.ini and then Change “expose_php = On” to “expose_php = Off” Restart Apache Install Shorewall firewall Configure Shorewall to only accept HTTP and SSH connections(in the rules file) Enable shorewall on startup Add the website to the server : sudo usermod -g www-data root sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www sudo chmod -R 775 /var/www I want make this CommunityWiki but can't seem to find the option to do it.
