  • UISplitViewController Cannot Change the Master View Controller?

    I am trying to change the master view controller (that appears in the popover in portrait, and on the left side in landscape) in a UISplitViewController. I'd like to switch between the master view controller being one of two different UIViewControllers (depending on an action taken elsewhere in my application). I am using the following: mySplitViewController.viewControllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:newMasterController, detailController, nil]; This correctly changes the master viewcontroller as you would expect in landscape mode. However it does not seem to change the viewcontroller used for the popover in portrait mode. I notice that the barbuttonitem to show this master view controller is just calling showMasterInPopover: on the splitviewcontroller, and so would expect it to work in portrait mode as well, but it does not. In fact, I can set the master view controller, see the new viewController correctly in landscape mode, rotate back to portrait, and the viewcontroller used in the popover is still the old one. Is this a bug?

  • Email as a view.

    I've been in some discussion recently about where email (notifications, etc...) should be sent in an ASP.NET MVC application. My nemesis grin argues that it only makes sense that the email should be sent from the controller. I argue that an email is simply an alternate or augmented view through a different channel. Much like I would download a file as the payload of an ActionResult, the email is simply delivered through a different protocol. I've worked an extension method that allows me to do the following: <% Html.RenderEmail(model.FromAddress, model.ToAddress, model.Subject); %> which I actually include within my the view that is displayed on the screen. The beauty is that, based on convention, if I call RenderEmail from a parent view named MyView.ascx, I attempt to render the contents of a view named MyViewEmail.ascx, unless it is not found, in which case I simply email a copy of parent view. It certainly does make it testable (I still have an ISMTPService injected for testing), I wondered if anyone had any thoughts on whether or not this breaks from good practice. In use it has been extremely handy when we needed to easily send an email or modify the contents of the emailed results vs the browser rendered results. Thanks, Hal

  • A view "transparent" to touches in some areas

    I have this transparent view that covers the whole screen. I using this view to group objects because I need to run them together around a specific anchor point. Lets call this view transparentView. At some point, transparentView contains two subviews. Two vertical bars full of icons, one on the left and one on the right of the screen. I need these bars and their icons to respond to touches, so I have to set transparentView setUserInteraction to YES. The area between the two vertical bars are totally transparent. transparentView is on top of other views and I need these other views to respond to taps but, the transparent area of transparentView are intercepting the taps and not letting them go thru to the view below. This transparent view is a UIImageView based class. I have tried to forward taps on that class, using - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { [self.nextResponder touchesBegan: touches withEvent:event]; } - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { [self.nextResponder touchesMoved: touches withEvent:event]; } - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { [self.nextResponder touchesEnded: touches withEvent:event]; } - (void)touchesCancelled:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { [self touchesEnded:touches withEvent:event]; } but this is not working.     We're using MapKit on an iPhone app to display a Google Map with terrain view. However, the terrain view only shows when the user has an active Internet connection, the moment the user's Internet is off, the terrain on the map disappears and it appears flat. Is there any way to keep the terrain view on even when the user isn't on an active internet connection? Thanks! Adam

  • Change table view ( style grouped ) background color ?

    Hi all, I am developing an iPad application in which I need a table view ( style grouped ) having background color as clearColor. My problem is [self.tableView setBackgroundColor:[UIColor clearColor]]; works well if the table view style is plain but when I switch to group table view the background color does not changes it stays gray in color. FYI: the contentview background color of tableviewcell also does not change. Is this a bug in iPhone-sdk or I am doing something wrong. Thanks, Madhup

    i have a partial view with a dropdown in it. the code looks like this: <%=Html.DropDownListFor(x => Model.Exercises, new SelectList(Model.Exercises, "Id", "Name", Model.SelectedExercise), new { @id = "exerciseDropdown", @class = "autoComplete" })%> the issue is that i want to reuse this partial view in multiple places but i want to have a different id assigned to the control (instead of exerciseDropdown always) but on the outside i only have this . . <% Html.RenderPartial("ExerciseList", Model); %> is there anyway to pass in an id into a partial view. should i stick this into my view model as a seperate property "Model.ExerciseDropdown2" for example. is there a better way ?

    hello, i have a UIView UIImageview UIButton and UISlider added as subview to UIView example: [view addsubview:uiImageview_obj]; [view addsubview:uiButtonview_obj]; [view addsubview:uiSliderview_obj]; When i zoom the uiimageview_obj, it covers uislider and uibutton also, hence i cannot use uislider and uibutton when i zoom the image.   • My 3D object (opengl es) is disappearing behind the iPhone camera view

    I have an augmented reality iPhone app that I am converting from Core Animation to OpenGL ES 1.1. I have added code that has been modified from the Apple OpenGL template. My problem is that my 3D object , when translating along the negative Z-axis (away from the user), appears to disappear into the camera view, until its completely gone. I have experimented with several solutions, but to no avail. What I have determined: Using the 3D icosahedron from Jeff Lamarche's blog here, the object starts it at 0,0,0 and then translates with decreasing z coordinates. By the time the z value reaches -2.0f, the object is gone. It appears as if it is disappearing behind the camera view. This is how I set my frustrum & viewport (unchanged from Apple's code) glMatrixMode(GL_PROJECTION); size = zNear * tanf(DEGREES_TO_RADIANS(fieldOfView) / 2.0); //Grab the size of the screen CGRect rect = self.bounds; glFrustumf(-size, size, -size / (rect.size.width / rect.size.height), size / (rect.size.width / rect.size.height), zNear, zFar); glViewport(0, 0, rect.size.width, rect.size.height); glMatrixMode(GL_MODELVIEW); glLoadIdentity(); What I have tried: The camera view is the main view and several other views are added to it as subviews, including the openGLView. I have commented those views out for test purposes. I have applied CATransforms to move the openGLView in the z direction -500 and +500, and done the same to the camera view. I have also changed the zFar in the above code to 1.0f, and it still disappears at z position of -2.0, which doesn't make sense (shouldn't it disappear at z=1.0?) My experimentation has got me more confused than when I started ( which usually means I am missing a key piece, but I can't figure out what). Thanks for your help.

    I have a text file and when users upload the file, the controller action method parses that file using state machine and uses a generic list to store some values. I pass this back to the view in the form of an IEnumerable. Within my main view, based on this ienumerable list I render a partail view to iterate items and display labels and a textarea. Users could add their input in the text area. CS0103: The name 'item' does not exist in the current context I can't see why it would be doing this as I'm passing item into the partial view?

    I've got a map with three bar buttons for different markers to show up in the map. If I click on a bar button, the specific markers are shown in the map, which already works great. Now I would like to show a transparent overlay (popup window) with the description of the markers after I clicked on a bar button with a button to close the overlay again and show the markers (which are set in the background). Add RouteDescriptionView as a subview RouteDescriptionViewController *routeDescriptionView = [[RouteDescriptionViewController alloc] init]; [self.view addSubview:routeDescriptionView.view]; [routeDescriptionView release]; Works great as well, but the problem here is: I can't configure a close button on the subview to close/remove the subview (RouteDescriptionView). 3. Using UIAlertView Would work as expected, but the UIAlert is not really customizable and therefore not suitable for my needs. Any ideas how to achieve this?

    I am using MVVM. I have a tab control. I will have a collection of items. I want to display each of this item in the collection as a tab item. The view in each tab item is different and may have its own viewmodel. How do I achieve this? E.g. I have 3 items in the collection. The Tab item template contains an ItemControl. I would like to now have 3 Tabs created and the ItemControls inside each tabitem may be showing different views. One way I could do is have a single view and viewmodel for each item. Now based on some condition the View will display different UI elements and behave differently. But I am afraide this will make the view quite complex over a period of time.
