  • No GUI, No internet connection, please help 12.04

    I am new to Ubuntu and I tried to install ubuntu server 12.04 on my laptop. now my problem is - I am unable to connect to the internet (I have wifi ONLY connection). ubuntu didn't recognize my built-in wifi on my Toshiba Satellite L505. There is no GUI. I have Terminal only, I tried Sudo apt-get update but i am getting errer msg because of no connection. 1. I need to know if there is any possible way that i can download and install driver for my wifi. 2. what other option do i have to be able to update ubuntu. Thanks KB

  • Wireless connects but can not connect to internet

    I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 and I'm having trouble connecting to internet via wifi. Ethernet cable works though. So when I log on it auto logs on to my wifi connection at home but after about a minute or so it gives me a popup: network disabled something about .local domain and something about Avahi network (sorry if you need more on what the popup says I will reboot and look at it again). I am using Atheros wireless card. My laptop is Asus G73SW and on the forum at notebookreview.com G73SW Owner's Lounge people said they had no problem with connecting via wifi from install. Please help me because I would love to keep using this beautiful OS.

    Am Having issues with My Wireless 1 My laptop had dual boot windows 7 and Ubuntu 13.04 I upgraded to windows 8 and after the first 2-3 reboots all was working well in windows and ubuntu then my wireless in ubuntu stoped working saying "wifi is disabled by hardware switch" the hardware switch has no effect I removed network manager installed new firmwares and still nothing the wifi was not working in a moment of testing I installed wifi radar and this can detect the wireless signals and at one point it connected but still Network manger still says disabled. My Laptop is a HP Pavilion dm4 2070us with Wireless Centrino N 1000 I have updated to 13.10 thinking it would fix it but still nothing

    I would like to use my laptop as an Access point, so that i can connect my phones through Wifi. I have done this my office laptop T410. I am having T61 with wifi module 4965. Connectify on windows does not support it. I am following these instructions to make achieve WAP capability on my T61 running ubuntu 10.10. The link says something about "master mode", how do i put my T61 wifi-inter4965 in master mode. Can I install madwifi or atheros drivers on it? I am using galaxy S froyo, and it does not support Ad-hoc network. Has anyone tried to achieve this?

  • Realtek 8188ce stops working after 2minutes

    I am using ubuntu 12.10 on an hp dm4-2191us via wubi with the Realtek 8188ce wifi adapter. Everything works very well with the exception of the wifi. I have used wicd and it didn't worked at all so i went back to Network Manager with variable success. It works for 30 min - 2 min before i have to reconnect to get it to work again. I would really like to use Ubuntu (it is a better platform in my opinion) but no wifi could really be a deal breaker.

    I am using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on an Asus Eee PC 1000HA. Since I upgraded to 12.04, I have had problems connecting to wifi. When I fly, I need to disable wifi. When I try to reconnect, the "enable networking" option is no longer available. If I type in the terminal "rfkill list", the following shows up: 0: eeepc-wlan: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: yes Hard blocked: no If I type "rfkill unblock all", "enable networking" will become available and I am able to connect to wifi. How can I permanently remove this annoying Soft Block? I don't want to be typing up two lines of code. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Let's say I have a class table. In the class table, there are many students with their pictures. In the first registration, I've registered the class and students with pictures. The pictures were put into a directory like classid_classname. Then, I change the class name. Now, I'm adding the student's picture. Now, the new picture can't be recognized because the class name has changed. The pic url will be set as classid_class(new)name. How can I match the first letter of the directory? If I look at the definition for the "wifi" key, it says: Include this key if your application requires access to the networking features of the device. So: does the "wifi" key indicate that I need WiFi, as the key name would suggest? Or does it mean that I simply need network access, as the key definition would suggest?

  • CentOS - Add additional hard drive raid arrays on Dell Perc 5/i card

    We have a Dell Poweredge 2900 system with Dell Perc 5/i card and 4 SAS hard drives attached, with NTFS partitions on them. We installed CentOS on one raid array on this controller with a different controller and it is working fine. We are now trying to access the drives shown above and they are not being shown in /dev as sdb, etc. sda is the drive that we installed centos on and it has sda1, sda2, sda3, etc. The CDROM has been picked up as well. If I scan for scsi devices then the perc and adaptec controllers are both found. sg0 is the CDROM and sg2 is the centos installed, however I think sg1 is the other drive but I cannot see anyway to mount the partitions, as only the drive is listed in /dev.     Hello, I am writing a program using rmi to connect server and clients together and got the following issue: My rmi server support both ethernet and wifi mode rmi clients can connect to the server either vi ethernet or wifi depending. That because s*ome clients can only run via ethernet* and some can only run via wifi. My question is: how can I make my rmi server connect to all clients in such situation? Thanks.

  • Detecting network adapter changes on the iPhone

    Say that there are no WIFI networks currently available and my network-enabled app is connected over 3G. How can I detect if a user has roamed into a WIFI network? I would also like to detect the case when the user is connected over WIFI and suddenly received 3G signal. In other words, I would like to be asynchronously notified of network adapter changes. I tried using the SCNetworkReachability framework asynchronously but found that for some reason, I am not receiving Wifi-related events (i.e. adapter on/off) when connected over 3G.

  • Proxy auto-config dnsResolve doesn't seem to resolve subdomains

    We're running on a Windows domain, and have a DNS to control computer names on our intranet. The following PAC works great for basic hostnames on our intranet - but we're setting up some subdomain-like names (example, redesign.buildbox), and it isn't resolving these. These subdomains are resolvable through other means (such as nslookup). Other than checking to see if the host has ".buildbox" or other domain, is there a way to make it work?   • Using checkbox to enable eventlistener

    I have looked for a solution to this for days and days. The examples I found don't make sence to me, probably because I am both old and new (old to life and new to android/jave). I would like to add a checkbox to my preference activity that would either enable or disable receivers. This is for a service which will run in the background, at boot completed, and will depend on two things 1)is the preference true and 2) is wifi enabled. So it would work something like this; user turns on phone boot completed checks if receivers are enabled (set by checkboxpreference) if checkboxpreference is true - looks for wifi if wifi is true - registers receivers Also required would be if wifi or checkboxpreference goes "false", unregister receivers.     I have a Kingston 4-in-1 Multimedia reader. When my PC was formatted with Win7 it worked fine. I decided to change to Ubuntu 14.04 and now it doesn't work.     Welcome to the Oracle Big Data Connectors blog, which will focus on posts related to integrating data on a Hadoop cluster with Oracle Database. In particular the blog will focus on best practices, usage notes, and performance tips for using Oracle Loader for Hadoop and Oracle Direct Connector for HDFS, which are part of Oracle Big Data Connectors. Oracle Big Data Connectors 1.0 also includes Oracle R Connector for Hadoop and Oracle Data Integrator Application Adapters for Hadoop. Oracle Loader for Hadoop: Oracle Loader for Hadoop loads data from Hadoop to Oracle Database. It runs as a MapReduce job on Hadoop to partition, sort, and convert the data into an Oracle-ready format, offloading to Hadoop the processing that is typically done using database CPUs. The data is thenloaded to the database by the Oracle Loader for Hadoop job (online load) or written out as Oracle Data Pump files for load and access later (offline load) with Oracle Direct Connector for HDFS. Oracle Direct Connector for HDFS: Oracle Direct Connector for HDFS is a connector for high speed access of data on HDFS from Oracle Database. With this connector Oracle SQL can be used to directly query data on HDFS. The data can be Oracle Data Pump files generated by Oracle Loader for Hadoop or delimited text files. The connector can also be used to load data into the database using SQL.

  • W006.15 isp or T-mobile Network Error.

    I just bought a new T-Mobile G2.  I wanted to turn on Wifi calling but kept receiving "W006.15 isp or T-mobile Network Error" and asking me to register.  After doing some research I looked at my cable modem/router logs and config.  There were fragmented packets originating from the phone and the incoming fragmented packets were blocked.  I disabled the "Block fragmented packets" setting and the phone was able to connect for Wifi calling

  • Multiple site URLs now showing up in SERPs

    Recently when you search for me on Google several URLs from my blog have started showing up, instead of just the main URL. 1) https://scotthelme.co.uk/ 2) https://scotthelme.co.uk/category/wifi-pineapple-2/? 3) https://scotthelme.co.uk/wifi-pineapple-karma-sslstrip/ Is there a reason this starts happening? I have contemplated doing something to remove them but is it better to occupy the top 3 spots instead of just the top spot? Should I just leave them there?

  • Wireless keeps asking for password

    Hia I just installed 12.04 on my old ibook G3 (since i wiped the HDD) Now luckely i have a wifi-ethernet bridge on my pc to give the ibook intertnet but even when it is connected to eth0 (LAN) it keeps asking to connect to eth1(Wi-Fi) the router is using WPA2 Personal with AES I was just wondering, bescuse the router is upsatirs and the ibook is downstairs next to my PC. and the wifi connects upstairs, but I can't use it up there 'cos the batteiy is junk and i got no plugs that'll reach. Thanks in advance Lewis
