  • how to strip namespaces with e4x?

    - by SorcyCat
I have an arbitrary XML document provided by a URL. I also have an xpath-like expressions. var xml = <doc><node1><node2><node3>some value</node3></node2></node1></doc>; var path = "node1.node2.node3"; I need to verify if the above path into the XML is valid. I tried to do this using eval and E4X. var value = eval("xml."+path); However, my actual xml document has namespaces which are getting in the way. I do not know the namespaces ahead of time or care what they are. Is there a way to strip all the namespaces out ahead of time? Is there a better way to do this? Thanks!

  • jQuery: Traversing AJAX response in Chrome/Safari

    - by jitzo
I'm trying to traverse an AJAX response, which contains a remote web page (an HTML output). My goal is to iterate through the 'script', 'link', and 'title' elements of the remote page - load them if necessary, and embed its contents to the current page. Its working great in FF/IE, but for some reason - Chrome & Safari behaves differently: When I run a .each() loop on the response, Chrome/Safari seems to omit everything that is under the section of the page. Here's my current code: $.ajax({ url: 'remoteFile.php', cache: false, dataFilter: function(data) { console.log(data); /* The output seems to contain the entire response, including the <head> section - on all browsers, including Chrome/Safari */ $(data).filter("link, script, title").each(function(i) { console.log($(this)); /* IE/FF outputs all of the link/script/title elements, Chrome will output only those that are not in the <head> section */ }); console.log($(data)); /* This also outputs the incomplete structure on Chrome/Safari */ return data; }, success: function(response) {} }); I've been struggling with this problem for quite a while now, i've found some other similar cases on google searches, but no real solution. This happens on both jQuery 1.4.2, and jQuery 1.3.2. I really don't want to parse the response with .indexOf() and .substring() - it seems to me that it will be an overkill for the client. Many thanks in advance!

  • adding to json property that may or may not exist yet

    - by mmcgrail
let say i want to do this var dasboard = {}; $('.check').click(function(){ $(this).toggleClass("active").siblings().slideToggle('slow', function() { dashboard['pages']['pagename'][$(this).closest('li').attr("id")]['show'] = $(this).is(":hidden") ? 'collapsed' : 'expanded'; }); } i get an error saying 'dashboard.pages is undefined' is there away to dynamically add 'pages' and the children that follow without having to do the work of checking to see if it is defined first then if its not doing dashboard['pages'] = {}; because sometimes they may already exist and I don't want to have to inspect the tree first i just want to build the branches as needed

  • How to control allowed HTML tags in WMD Editor?

    - by Toto
I am trying to some-how set the valid HTML tags and attributes users would be able to use in WMD Editor in my site. For example, I want to forbid the user to directly set the font size, color, typeface and so on, which is trivial to do with the default settings typing something like: <span style="font-size: 45px; color:#FF0000">Some intrusive text here</span>. I think the way to implement this is through the "wmd_options", but I have not found any documentation or reference regarding this, giving the fact that the 'Options demo' seems to be the only public documentation and it does not show how should I do what I have described above. I've send this same question to [email protected] but didn't get any reply. As stackoverflow uses this editor someone reading this or maybe Jeff knows the answer ;) Thanks in advance!

  • How can I duplicate the UI functionality of Google Fastflip?

    - by marcamillion
Trying to get the same functionality as Google FastFlip. Not just with the thumbnails, but even for the larger images too. Notice how when you click on a story, you see the main story front and center, and you see smaller half-screens of previous and next stories. How can I get that functionality? Is there a plugin for one of the JS frameworks that does this already? I also love the speed and feel of flipping through the images.

  • Best jQuery rounded corners script?

    - by jonhobbs
Hi, I've been looking at varios scripts for adding automatic rounded corners to a div using jQuery but there are loads of plugins available, none of which seem perfect. So, does anybody know of a script that is quick to render, supports IE6, anti-aliases and supports opacity? Any help would really be appreciated, Jon.

  • ExtJs: Tree: how download then select using AJAX calls ?

    - by Olivier Pons
Hi, Here's my goal : - open a tree - download the root nodes - expand automatically one specific node using AJAX (and loop n times here) until i find a leaf then select the leaf Here's the function that works when I declare the Tree : listeners: { load: function(n) { console.log('load(n)'); n.eachChild( function(n) { if ((n.id=='lys/2007') || (n.id=='lys/2007/08') || (n.id=='lys/2007/08/29')) { n.expand(false, false); } }); } } But if I don't know how to make it more "generic" (almost exactly like the ExtJs documentation). But they don't jump automatically to a specific node (i.e. I want no user interaction). Any idea / advice how to do this? Don't hesitate to edit my post to make it proper English :)

  • Hiding flash component scrollbars using object/param syntax

    - by Kieran Benton
Hi all, I'm not sure if this is possible (complete non-flash developer speaking), but we have a 3rd party component that we want to only show a certain topleft hand portion of. I've tried limiting the size of the HTML object container as: <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="600" height="415" data="<url>"> <param name="movie" value="<url>" /> <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="flashvars" value="<vars>" /> </object> So limiting it to 600x415, but this causes horizontal and vertical scrollbars as part of the flash component to appear. Is there any standard way to override this behaviour? Thanks.

  • Problems with animateAlong in IE7

    - by Andrei
Hi there, I'm having trouble making a simple shape move along a path in IE7 (the only version of IE I tried, actually). The following code works fine in chrome and firefox, but not IE. I couldn't find an obvious reason, has anybody seen something similar? canvas.path(rPath.path).attr("stroke", "blue"); var circle = canvas.circle(rPath.startX, rPath.startY, 5); circle.animateAlong(rPath.path, 3000, true); My rPath variable has the path and the starting point coordinates. Microsoft script debugger points to this line as the one where the code breaks: os.left != (t = x - left + "px") && (os.left = t); (line 2131 inside the uncompressed raphael.js script file, inside Element[proto].setBox = function (params, cx, cy) {...}) Any ideas? Any experience (good or bad) with raphael's animateAlong in IE7? TIA, Andrei

  • implementing twitter bootstrap carousel

    - by arboles
I am having trouble implementing the bootstrap carousel. Can anyone look at the following html and js and give me instructions on how to implement the slide. The .js has not been edited and the carousel is installed on the body hero unit. Do I implement the carousel api? How do I define the carousel I am using within the .js file? Thanks. <div class="carousel"> <!-- Carousel items --> <div class="carousel-inner"> <!-- Main hero unit for a primary marketing message or call to action --> <div class="hero-unit"> <h1>Hello, world!</h1> <p>This is a template for a simple marketing or informational website. It includes a large callout called the hero unit and three supporting pieces of content. Use it as a starting point to create something more unique.</p> <p><a class="btn btn-primary btn-large">Learn more &raquo;</a></p> </div> </div> <!-- Carousel nav --> <a class="carousel-control left" href="#myCarousel" data-slide="prev">&lsaquo;</a> <a class="carousel-control right" href="#myCarousel" data-slide="next">&rsaquo;</a> </div>

  • Need to set cursor position to the end of a contentEditable div, issue with selection and range obje

    - by DavidR
I'm forgetting about cross-browser compatibility for the moment, I just want this to work. What I'm doing is trying to modify a script (and you probably don't need to know this) located at typegreek.com The basic script is found here. Basically what it does is when you type in characters, it converts the character your are typing into greek characters and prints it onto the screen. What I'm trying to do is to get it to work on contentEditable div's (It only works for Textareas) My issue is with this one function: The user types a key, it get's converted to a greek key, and goes to a function, it gets sorted through some if's, and where it ends up is where I can add div support. Here is what I have so far, myField is the div, myValue is the greek character. //Get selection object... var userSelection if (window.getSelection) {userSelection = window.getSelection();} else if (document.selection) {userSelection = document.selection.createRange();} //Now get the cursor position information... var startPos = userSelection.anchorOffset; var endPos = userSelection.focusOffset; var cursorPos = endPos; //Needed later when reinserting the cursor... var rangeObj = userSelection.getRangeAt(0) var container = rangeObj.startContainer //Now take the content from pos 0 -> cursor, add in myValue, then insert everything after myValue to the end of the line. myField.textContent = myField.textContent.substring(0, startPos) + myValue + myField.textContent.substring(endPos, myField.textContent.length); //Now the issue is, this updates the string, and returns the cursor to the beginning of the div. //so that at the next keypress, the character is inserted into the beginning of the div. //So we need to reinsert the cursor where it was. //Re-evaluate the cursor position, taking into account the added character. var cursorPos = endPos + myValue.length; //Set the caracter position. rangeObj.setStart(container, cursorPos) Now, this works only as long as I don't type more than the size of the original text. Say I had 30 characters in the div before hand. If I type more than that 30, it adds character 31, but places the cursor back at 30. I can type character 32 at pos.31, then character 33 at pos.32, but if I try to put character 34 in, it adds the character, and sets the cursor back at 32. The issue is that the function for adding the new character screws up if cursorPos is greater than what is defined in the range. Any ideas?

  • Clear default values using onsubmit

    - by Thomas
I need to clear the default values from input fields using js, but all of my attempts so far have failed to target and clear the fields. I was hoping to use onSubmit to excute a function to clear all default values (if the user has not changed them) before the form is submitted. <form method='get' class='custom_search widget custom_search_custom_fields__search' onSubmit='clearDefaults' action='http://www.example.com' > <input name='cs-Price-2' id='cs-Price-2' class='short_form' value='Min. • multiplayer / visitors interactions with Ruby on Rails?

    - by Jordi
I want to have interactions between visitors on my site. Imagine a chat room. It basically involves getting the data from everyone and sending it to everyone, this can be done by ajax and what not but I wonder if there is something already there in the wild that would do the heavy lifting for me. I have to say that I got very lost once I start programming Ajax, dont even know how to make tests for it... I have found the Q42multiplayer library that looks like what I want but they use C# as backend. There is something similar or any other multiplayer thingy I can get some idea or rip some code from (the whole thing will be opensource) for Ruby on Rails?

  • Automatically resize jQuery UI dialog to the width of the content loaded by ajax

    - by womp
I'm having a lot of trouble finding specific information and examples on this. I've got a number of jQuery UI dialogs in my application attached to divs that are loaded with .ajax() calls. They all use the same setup call: $(".mydialog").dialog({ autoOpen: false, resizable: false, modal: true }); I just want to have the dialog resize to the width of the content that gets loaded. Right now, the width just stays at 300px (the default) and I get a horizontal scrollbar. As far as I can tell, "autoResize" is no longer an option for dialogs, and nothing happens when I specify it. I'm trying to not write a separate function for each dialog, so .dialog("option", "width", "500") is not really an option, as each dialog is going to have a different width. Specifying width: 'auto' for the dialog options just makes the dialogs take up 100% of the width of the browser window. What are my options? I'm using jQuery 1.4.1 with jQuery UI 1.8rc1. It seems like this should be something that is really easy. EDIT: I've implemented a kludgy workaround for this, but I'm still looking for a better solution.

  • HTML Button's jQuery function is having trouble with MVC FileResult

    - by Aaron Salazar
I intended for this function to call my MVC action method that returns a CSV report. $(function() { $('#exportButton').click(function() { $.get('/curReport/GetCSVReport'); }); }); If I make a button like the code below then, when it is clicked, I'm given the "Open with/Save File" window. <input type="button" value="Export" onClick="location.href='CurReport/GetCSVReport'"> However, when I change my button to use my jQuery function then, although GetCSVReport() is called I'm not given the "Open with/Save File" window. Here is my GetCSVReport() public FileResult GetCSVReport() { ... return fileResult; } How can I get my jQuery function to work like the onClick? Thank you, Aaron
