  I've been playing around with Dojo over the last couple of days. • How do I change the style of an input box in IE7 on focus?

  I'm trying to be able to have a global exception capture where I can add extra information when an error happens. I have two classes, "crawler" and "amazon". What I want to do is be able to call "crawl", execute a function in amazon, and use the exception handling in the crawl function. • jQuery code works in Firebug, but not on its own

  I'm having quite the brainbuster of an issue right now. I am trying to change a link's hash tag at the end from "respond" to "comments" with jQuery. I have a simple script that should do this, however it does not work. The link does not change. However, Firebug shows no errors and when I run the code in Firebug's console, it works just as I intend. Why doesn't this work on its own? Does anybody have a solution, I'm at my wits edge with this one. • Cached Jquery selector behavior that I do not understand

  Given the following code why am I getting different values for a and b? I would have thought they would return the same thing: (function() { var a = $('#foo'); var Test = function(){ console.log(a); //outputs 'jQuery()' var b = $('#foo'); console.log(b); //outputs 'jQuery(select#foo)' which is what I want }; })(); This question stems from me trying to stick frequently used selectors into vars. Originally I was doing it in each method (like I did with var b in the above example) but then I found I needed to use the selectors in multiple methods so I moved the assignment out to be available (or so I thought) to all of the methods in that anonymous function. As you can see, it does not work. Why is this?

I have confirmed that the course li on which I am setting the data is the same as the one on which I am looking for it. (Unless I'm messing that up by calling appendTo() on it?)

• Why is url not registered?(Drupal 6.x)

  I'm using hook_menu to register new url so that accessing this url would return some data to ajax function. As title suggested, this url is not registered. How do I know that? I've tried typing this in address bar but, drupal, return main template only rather than the tests string that I created. I'm positive that my module is working for php issues error if I intentionally write wrong syntax. And, yes, I clear cache whenever I make changes. • Best way to code a webservice in weblogic?

  I am new to Weblogic and J2ee. I need to build a webservice that simply runs a query on the backend database (DB2 zOS) and returns the results. Being new to this I have a few questions. 1) What is the best way to build the webservice? 2) How do I connect to the database with weblogic. 3) Is there a way to cache the data returned so that the next request for the same data is pulled from cache? If googled for this but there seems to be many way to handle this. I am looking for the best way that can handle a high volume of requests. Any links to sample code would be helpful. - Thanks

• Jquery attach show event to select option

  Hi, I have a select form element with 5 options. If option 2 is selected I want to display another form input box (this has a style of display:none initially). How can I attach an event to option 2 so that whenever it is selected the input box is shown otherwise it is hidden. I have this currently but this does not handle is option 2 is already selected when the page loads $('#type').change(function(){ var typeSelected = $(this).val(); if (typeSelected == 2) { $('#extraInput').show(); } }); I know I could add another bit of code which checks what is selected on page load but wondered if there was a neater way of doing this. Also something that could handle the hiding of the input box if option 2 is not selected at the start as currently I have just hard-coded style="display:none" onto the input box but I would prefer this to be dynamic. • C++: How would I get unix time?

  I need a function or way to get the UNIX epoch in seconds, much like how I can in PHP using the time function. I can't find any method except the time() in ctime which seems to only output a formatted date, or the clock() function which has seconds but seems to always be a multiple of 1 million, nothing with any resolution. I wish to measure execution time in a program, I just wanted to calculate the diff between start and end; how would a C++ programmer do this? EDIT: time() and difftime only allow resolution by seconds, not ms or anything too btw.

• Application.Idle causes high CPU usage

  Hello, I use the Application.Idle event to handle toolbar status (enable/disable) etc. quite extensively. As I'm beta testing Norton AntiVirus 2011, it brought to my attention that my app that I'm developing triggered a high CPU usage warning on at least one CPU. Sure enough, I opened the task manager and watched one of the four CPU's (quad core system) go to near 100%. I thought Application.Idle was the way to handle things when the application wasn't performing CPU tasks. Why is Application.Idle spiking the CPU? Here is how I attach to the event: AddHandler Application.Idle, AddressOf OnAppIdle Been using Application.Idle for a long time, never knew it would have this issue. Using VS 2010 .NET 4 Thank you.

• Using reshape + cast to aggregate over multiple columns

  In R, I have a data frame with columns for Seat (factor), Party (factor) and Votes (numeric). I want to create a summary data frame with columns for Seat, Winning party, and Vote share. For example, from the data frame df <- data.frame(party=rep(c('Lab','C','LD'),times=4), votes=c(1,12,2,11,3,10,4,9,5,8,6,15), seat=rep(c('A','B','C','D'),each=3)) I want to get the output seat winner voteshare 1 A C 0.8000000 2 B Lab 0.4583333 3 C C 0.5000000 4 D LD 0.5172414 I can figure out how to achieve this. But I'm sure there must be a better way, probably a cunning one-liner using Hadley Wickham's reshape package. Any suggestions? For what it's worth, my solution uses a function from my package djwutils_2.10.zip and is invoked as follows. But there are all sorts of special cases it doesn't deal with, so I'd rather rely on someone else's code. aggregateList(df, by=list(seat=seat), FUN=list(winner=function(x) x$party[which.max(x$votes)], voteshare=function(x) max(x$votes)/sum(x$votes)))

• Maven project dependecy against JDK version

  I have projects that need to be build with a specific version of the JDK. The problem isn't in the source and target parameters but in the jars of the runtime used during compilation. In some cases I get a compilation error if I try to compile with the wrong JDK, but sometimes the build is successful and I get runtime errors when using the jars. For example in eclipse I have the ability to establish the execution enviroment for the project in the .classpath file. Is there a way to handle such situation in maven? What I would like to have is the ability to handle JRE dependency like other dependencies of the project in the POM file.

• PHP readdir() not returning files in alphabetical order

  I am reading through a directory with some pictures and such using a pretty simple implementation of readdir() like the following: if ($handle = opendir($path)) { while (false !== ($szFilename = readdir($handle))) { if ($szFilename[0] !== '.') { if (is_file($path.$szFilename)) { // do stuff } } } } The problem that I am having is that the files are not being read in alphabetical order as the docs for readdir() state: Returns the filename of the next file from the directory. The filenames are returned in the order in which they are stored by the filesystem. Another weird thing is that, on the local testing server, the same code works great. This is running on a server using the LAMP stack in both cases. I know that I can build an array and just sort it, but I was wondering if I was missing something in what I was doing. • Sinatra Set Settings (Ruby)

  Using Sinatra in Ruby you can set the server's settings by doing: set :myvariable, "MyValue" and then access it anywhere in templates etc with settings.myvariable. In my script I need to be able to re-set these variables falling back to a bunch of defaults. I figured the easiest way to do this would be to have a function that performs all the sets calling it at the start of the Sinatra server and when I need to make the alterations: class MyApp < Sinatra::Application helpers do def set_settings s = settings_from_yaml() set :myvariable, s['MyVariable'] || "default" end end # Here I would expect to be able to do: set_settings() # But the function isn't found! get '/my_path' do if things_go_right set_settings end end # Etc end As explained in the code above, the set_settings function isn't found, am I going about this the wrong way?

  I want to detect an extended mousedown. The following code works in Firefox and Safari... var mousedownTimeout; $('#testButton').mousedown(function(){ mousedownTimeout = window.setTimeout(function(){ alert("Hey, let go."); }, 2000); }); $('#testButton').mouseup(function(){ window.clearTimeout(mousedownTimeout); }); ... but not on the iPhone because (quoting quirksmore.org)... The iPhone fires the mousedown, mouseup and click events in the correct order on a click (tap), but it either fires all three or none at all. Is there a way around this?
