  • How to get debugging of an App Engine application working?

    I've got 10+ years in C/C++, and it appears Visual Studio has spoilt me during that time. In Visual Studio, debbuging issimple: I just add a breakpoint to a line of code, and as soon as that code is executed, my breakpoint triggers, at which point I can view a callstack, local/member variables, etc. I'm trying to achieve this functionality under App Engine. I assume that is possible? All the searching I've done to this point has led me to using Pydev in Eclipse. As best I can tell, I am successfully launching my simple 'hello world' program in Debug mode. But the IDE doesn't even seem to have an option to set a breakpoint? I must be missing something. I've googled long and hard about this, but am having no luck. Most results trace back to the same old threads that don't deal directly with my issue. Can anyone shed some light on how you get basic debugging setup using Pydev/Eclipse with App Engine? Alternatively, if there's an easier way to debug App Engine than using Pydev/Eclipse, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks in advance.

  • Appengine not liking my .jspx files

    I have a little app that runs fine on local dev appengine, but appengine itself is not processing my .jspx files. The jspx files are in WEB-INF so they should not be excluded by appengine (as a static resource) I am using Apache Tiles to define my views. So the html produced looks like this: <html xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" xmlns:c="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" xmlns:tiles="http://tiles.apache.org/tags-tiles" > <jsp:output omit-xml-declaration="yes"/> <jsp:directive.page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8" /> <jsp:directive.page isELIgnored="false"/> (etc etc) How can I solve this problem?

  • Session expiry times?

    Hi, I've enabled sessions on my app: // appengine-web.xml <sessions-enabled>true</sessions-enabled> they seem to work when I load different pages under my domain. If I close the browser however, looks like the session is terminated. Restarting the browser shows the last session is no longer available. That could be fine, just wondering if this is documented anywhere, so I can rely on this fact? I tried the following just to test if we can tweak it: // in web.xml <session-config> <session-timeout>10</session-timeout> </session-config> also // in my servlet getThreadLocalRequest().getSession().setMaxInactiveInterval(60 * 5); but same behavior, session data is no longer available after browser restart. I looked at the stats for my project and I see data being used for something like "_ah_SESSION" objects. Are those the sessions from above? If so, shouldn't they be cleaned since they're no longer valid? (Hopefully gae takes care of that automatically?) Thanks

  • [Rails] Cross Browser Popup size woes

    I need to display certain content inside a popup window, and the body element must be 320px by 300px for styling purposes So I do the following: %p = link_to "Play in popup", popup_podcast_path(@podcast), :popup => ['new_window','height=300,width=320,toolbar=no,location=no,directories=no,status=no,menubar=no,scrollbars=no,resizable=yes'] Firefox does exactly what I ask it to do, it displays a popup window, with a page body that is 320px wide and 300px high, so my content fits perfectly inside. But Chrome includes the browser frame dimensions when sizing the popup, which means that the body element is less than the required size.... i.e. if the browser titlebar is 10px high, then this is subtracted from the space allocated to the body element How do I tell Chrome, that I want the body element to be 320 by 300, and that I dont want it to subtract the width and height of the browser frame from body element dimensions It's a bit like the old box-model problem where FF and IE added padding in different ways except firefox adds the browser frame outside the desired 320x300 size, and Chrome is adding it inside

  • Will an Nginx as reverse proxy for Apache help on dynamic content only

    I am planning to move all my static content to a CDN so on my server I only have dynamic content left. I now have Nginx set up as reverse proxy to Apache. The static request that came in where directly delivered by Nginx without having to go to Apache. In this case Nginx handled a large portion of the request and I can clearly see the necessity of Nginx. Now that I moved all the static content to another domain, is there still a need to have nginx in front of Apache. Because now all the request are by default dynamic requests and all go to Apache. Are there any other benefits of having Nginx and Apache running for only dynamic content. My dynamic content is PHP/MySQL Edit: To be clear: I now have Nginx as a reverse proxy. It delivers static and dynamic content. But I am moving my static files to a CDN. Do I then still need Nginx on my domain.

  • Removing input background colour for Chrome autocomplete?

    On a form I'm working on, Chrome is auto-filling the email and password fields. This is fine, however, Chrome changes the background colour to a pale yellow colour. The design I'm working on is using light text on a dark background, so this really messes up the look of the form - I have stark yellow boxes and near-invisible white text. Once the field is focused, the fields return to normal. Is it possible to stop Chrome changing the colour of these fields?

    I am experiencing a strange behaviour of my application in Chrome browser (No problem with other browsers). When I refresh a page, the cookie is being sent properly, but intermittently the browser doesn't seem to pass the cookie on some refreshes. Thank you for any suggestion. EDIT-01: It seems that the cookie is not being sent with some requests. This happens intermittently and I am seeing this behaviour for ALL the browsers now.     I am working on a custom interface for the JW Player which displays the current track title and has play/pause, next track, previous track and volume toggle buttons. It works for IE8/9 and FF but fails for Chrome and Safari.   • Whats wrong with this task queue setup?

    I've setup this task queue implementation on a site I host for a customer, it has a cron job which runs each morning at 2am "/admin/tasks/queue", this queues up emails to be sent out, "/admin/tasks/email", and uses cursors so as to do the queuing in small chunks. For some reason last night /admin/tasks/queue kept getting run by this code and so sent out my whole quota of emails :/.     Related question I am having similar problems to what that guy had in his. My upload server returns aredirect Specifically, I am not sure what FormPanel.SubmitCompleteEvent.getResults() returns. Sometimes, I get html of an img: <img style="cursor: -moz-zoom-in;" alt="http://<myapp>.appspot.com/servePic?blob-key=abcdef" src="http://<myapp>.appspot.com/servePic?blob-abcdef" height="1" width="1"> Sometimes I get the image data in bytes. Behavior varies on I dunno what. I get the first in development, and the second in production. Does anyone know anything about this?
