• Eye of gnome image bug with ATI graphic driver

  I just installed the ATI driver for my Ubuntu 11.10. After some annoying bugs and errors it works for now. But there is one most stupid bug. Whenever I open a picture in the default image viewer (eye of gnome EOG) it shows me an overexposed picture. Update Driver I used was 8.911-111025a-128237C-ATI with Catalyst 11.11. I installed the driver via jockey and used the driver released with Ubuntu because the post-release driver fails everytime.

• Wordpress theme for user generated content website

  I'm looking for a wordpress theme that I can work from. I'm basically creating a website like the following two http://www.damnyouautocorrect.com/ and http://icanhas.cheezburger.com/ - both are wordpress based websites which I guess are custom made themes. I'm looking for a theme that will let users enter content without beign logged in. Basically the post type has a title and a description and the name of the author. The homepage will show one post with a "Next" button. Clicking that will load the next post. The user content input just needs a title, description, and a name of the author. I'd also like to add voting up/down. I'm just asking first before I start hacking away at a theme.

• How to stop gecko-mediaplayer from buffering endlessly?

  I'm using the gecko-mediaplayer plugin (formerly "mplayerplug-in"). The totem plugin was not always working correctly with Opera, and I'm actually depending on the [Copy URL] feature of gecko-mediaplayer. However that plugin does some inept buffering of videos. It seems to default to 20% caching regardless of what you set in the preferences window. This is quite annoying for big video files. But appearantly it's by design http://groups.google.com/group/gecko-mediaplayer/browse_thread/thread/b7f0f5a3cedc8979 The Gentoo forums listed some workaround http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-816690.html - but ~/.config/gecko-mediaplayer/gecko-mediaplayer.conf is not working in the Ubuntu version. Does anyone know the actual way to configure the cache= size. Which is the real configuration filename under Ubuntu?

• How to enable hard-blocked bluetooth in Thinkpad Edge 320

  I'm trying to use the built-in bluetooth device of my Lenovo Thinkpad E320. It seems to be hard blocked, but i can't find any possibility to unblock it. rfkill list returns: 0: tpacpi_bluetooth_sw: Bluetooth Soft blocked: yes Hard blocked:yes cat /proc/acpi/ibm/bluetooth returns: status: disabled commands: enable, disable I tried to enable it by: Pressing Fn+F9 (Radio controll) echo enable | tee /proc/acpi/ibm/bluetooth rfkill unblock bluetooth Trough the BIOS. But it's not mentioned at all None of the actions influenced the ouputs above.

  Hey all, I’ve just installed SOA Suite 11.1.1.4 and noticed a few funnies which people might hit, thankfully each of them have an easy solution.   1. Some applications are installed but dont appear to work? If when you install SOASuite you may notice that the following applications dont appear to work, however they do appear as deployments in Weblogic Server Console e.g.  SOA Composer (composer), FMW Welcome Page Application (11.1.0.0.0) and some of the adaptors. If they appear in the deployments list state as “installed” and not Active, then its likely that they haven't been targeted to a specific server.   The solution is to target the application the desired managed server , e.g. AdminServer in a development environment. This is done by selecting the application, tab “Targets”, select all components, Button[change Targets] and select the appropriate server. This change can be done without restarting the Weblogic Server 2. You might find that when you try to log into the BPM Composer at http://machine:7001/bpm/composer , the login screen will appear but you cant log in. The error log might mention the following   The solution to this is two fold, a) When creating the domain, avoid using 127.0.0.1 as the Listener address, or “Any Addresses”, if this is a development machine create an alias in your /etc/hosts file and then use this alias in the domain creation wizard. e.g.   my host file contains an entry     mypc     127.0.0.1   And in the Fusion middleware Configuration wizard   Twill then work!   if it still doesnt you can try setting the ServerURL attribute to http://mypc in the SoaInfraMBean instead of blank. This is accomplished by using Enterprise Manager. Use the System MBean Browser to navigate to Application Defined MBeans->oracle.as.soainfra.config->[ server]->SoaInfraConfig->soa-infra. Then changing the value of 'ServerURL' to http://mypc   Failing that give support a call….

• 403 error on index file

  When I try to access index.py in my server root through http://domain/, I get a 403 Forbidden error, but when I can access it through http://domain/index.py. In my server logs it says "Options ExecCGI is off in this directory: /var/www/index.py". However, my httpd.conf entry for that directory is the same as the ones for other directories, and getting to index.py works fine. My permissions are set to 755 for index.py. I also tried making a php file and naming it index.php, and it works from both domain/ and domain/index.php. • Set IP address to point to certain domain

  I have a Linux VPS, DirectAdmin as web panel and already set a domain to it. everything is OK and I can see my website in my browser using domain name. Now I need to have access to my site using its IP address. something like http://86.57.88.29, but when I try to load my site in a browser using its IP I get below message and I have to post-fix my IP with /~admin (http://86.57.88.29/~admin) to get it work. This IP is being shared among many domains. To view the domain you are looking for, simply enter the domain name in the location bar of your web browser. So how can I configure my IP to point to my public_html folder without and ~admin like phrase? Thanks.

I am guessing that this update has caused issues with Keyboard shortcuts, battery status icon disappearing as well as power management issues as speculated by others. Closing laptop lid no longer suspends laptop - It has to be manually done by licking 'suspend' before closing lid. Question: How do you restore the original/default graphics driver? In this all new version the support from Oracle has enabled a transformation of the editor underpinning Java framework and results in 3x performance improvement and 50% better memory utilization. So why is this a foundation version? Basically the new drag and drop designer tool allows you to tailor your own dictionary collection of components and then simply select and position those into your resulting exchange structure. This is true global reuse enabled from a canonical domain dictionary collection. So instead of grappling with XSD Schema syntax, or UML model nuances – this is straightforward direct WYSIWYG visual engineering – using familiar sets of business components. Then the toolkit writes the complex XSD Schema for you, along with test samples, documentation, XMI/UML models, Mindmaps and more. So how do you get a set of business components? The toolkit allows you to harvest these from existing schema collections or enterprise data models, or as in the case of NIEM, existing domain dictionary collections. I’ve been using this for the latest IEEE/OASIS/NIST initiative on a Common Data Format (CDF) for elections management systems.   In my apache2.conf I have an alias setup like this: Alias /cake/ /var/www-cake/repo <Directory /var/www-cake/repo> Order allow,deny Allow from all AllowOverride All Options +Indexes </Directory> inside the /var/www-cake/repo directory I just have 1 file that is index.php when I go to http://linux-server/cake/ I get a directory listing that shoes the index.php file. When I click on the file it takes me to http://linux-server/cake/index.php in which I get a 404 page not found error. What do I need to do to make the files accessible?

• Virtualized data centre&ndash;Part four: The design

  Welcome back to the fourth post in this series! Today we will have a look at what Microsoft recommends as a “private cloud design” and what I will make of it. Whilst my own solution is based of the reference architecture, it is quite different indeed! An important thing to know is that, whilst I am using the private cloud as a reference, I am skipping most of the steps in designing a private cloud. If that is why you are here, please read the links at the end of the article and skim through my own content. A private cloud is much more process driven than just building a virtual infrastructure… The architecture of it all… So imagine for a minute that you have unlimited funds to build this lab of yours… You’d want redundancy on all levels and separation of each network where possible! Unfortunately we don’t have that luxury and, as you saw me hinting at in the previous article, our own design will be more limited but still quite capable! Networking From the networking perspective I will not have a fully redundant network, after all, this is but a lab environment! Thanks to Server 2012 I will be able to use bonding on my NIC’s and use LACP to improve the performance on that part. Storage As I mentioned in the previous article a Synology DS1218+ will be used for iSCSI provisioning. This device has 2 NICs on-board which can be bonded in to one 2 Gbps interface giving me a decent throughput and making the disks the most limiting factor in the storage design. Domain controllers and extra infrastructure Server 2012 completely supports running domain controllers virtualized and has no need to actually have a reachable DC when booting… That being said I need a remote access machine to power on the hosts (I have no need for them running 24/7) and a possible System Center VMM 2012 box (although server 2012 is not supported until SP1 :( ).
