  • How to secure connection between PHP and Android

    - by Elad Cohen
I am developing an application for the Android that requires a connection with PHP pages in order to add sensitive data to a database that will affect the application. Since it's very easy to reverse engineer an android app, one can simply find the url where the data is sent to and manipulate it. I thought about creating a registration based on IMEI, but one can still able to manipulate it for his malicious purposes. I have also checked OAuth but I didn't really understand how it works and if it can help in my condition. What can I do to fully secure my application? Thanks in advance! EDIT: By the way, what I am mostly trying to achieve here is to make sure the requests are being sent from an Android and not from any other device.

  • FreeBSD or NetBSD based commercial TCP/IP stack vendor?

    - by Vineet
Hi - Receiving recommendations for commercial TCP/IP stack implementation based on FreeBSD or NetBSD. Requirements are similar to a typical desktop PC running a browser, email and streaming voice/video. Which is to say a rich network functionality for a end-host type of device with mature implementation and reasonable performance. BSD derived network stacks are deployed in wide variety of situations for years and hence have mature implementation. It's supposed to run on a proprietary RTOS. Most vendors I found don't advertise if their stack is based on BSD. Any recommendations? -- Vineet

  • PHP gallery, thumbnail listing

    - by Benjamin
Hi everyone, I am planning a dynamic PHP photo gallery and having difficulty deciding on the best way to display the thumbnails after they have been retrieved via MySQL. I considered using an inline unordered list but this resulted in the thumbs being stacked one on top of the other (touching). Also tried a table but not sure how I would start the next row after x number of thumbnails. Any suggestions on page layout for this purpose? I will be using Lightbox to cycle through the photos themselves, that isn't the issue. Also, would a while() loop be best for fetching the list of thumbs and inserting the appropriate HTML? Thanks! -Ben

  • Sound not working in iPhone Simulator?

    - by pix0r
Somehow my iPhone Simulator is unable to play sounds. First an app I'm working on using AudioServicesPlaySystemSound() stopped working.. I spent a while debugging this but sound is still working on the iPhone when I run the app on the device. I get the same results with other iPhone apps such as the sample Crash Landing app. I can't find a sound setting anywhere in the simulator or Xcode preferences. I've tried resetting the simulator through "Reset Content and Settings" menu item to no avail.

  • Java: what are IOEXceptions in BufferedReader's readLine() for?

    - by HH
    I can "fix" the below exception with a try-catch loop but I cannot understand the reason. Why does the part "in.readLine()" continuosly ignite IOExceptions? What is really the purpose of throwing such exceptions, the goal probably not just more side effects? Code and IOExceptions $ javac ReadLineTest.java ReadLineTest.java:9: unreported exception java.io.IOException; must be caught or declared to be thrown while((s=in.readLine())!=null){ ^ 1 error $ cat ReadLineTest.java import java.io.*; import java.util.*; public class ReadLineTest { public static void main(String[] args) { String s; BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in)); // WHY IOException here? while((s=in.readLine())!=null){ System.out.println(s); } } }

  • What is the life cycle of the XNA GraphicsDevice on the Xbox 360?

    - by David Brown
I'm working on an XNA project that doesn't use the built-in Game class, mostly for learning purposes (so I can mess with different game loop types, etc). It's only designed for the Xbox 360, because the hardware is consistent and I don't have to worry about compatibility among different PC hardware configurations. So far, it's working well and I can clear the screen to a color, but I'd like to make sure I handle the GraphicsDevice correctly before moving on. What exactly is the life cycle for the GraphicsDevice on the Xbox 360? Is it ever lost or reset automatically? I know that on Windows, it's lost when the window loses focus, but the Xbox obviously doesn't manage focus. It appears to even keep the graphics device when the Guide pops up, which is the closest thing I can find to "losing focus" on the Xbox. I'd like to think it's simply a matter of "fire and forget," which would make a lot of other things much easier (only needing to load content once, for instance). But I want to make sure.

  • python list mysteriously getting set to something within my django/piston handler

    - by Anverc
To start, I'm very new to python, let alone Django and Piston. Anyway, I've created a new BaseHandler class "class BaseApiHandler(BaseHandler)" so that I can extend some of the stff that BaseHandler does. This has been working fine until I added a new filter that could limit results to the first or last result. Now I can refresh the api page over and over and sometimes it will limit the result even if I don't include /limit/whatever in my URL... I've added some debug info into my return value to see what is happening, and that's when it gets more weird. this return value will make more sense after you see the code, but here they are for reference: When the results are correct: "statusmsg": "2 hours_detail found with query: {'empid':'22','datestamp':'2009-03-02',}", when the results are incorrect (once you read the code you'll notice two things wrong. First, it doesn't have 'limit':'None', secondly it shouldn't even get this far to begin with. "statusmsg": "1 hours_detail found with query: {'empid':'22','datestamp':'2009-03-02',with limit[0,1](limit,None),}", It may be important to note that I'm the only person with access to the server running this right now, so even if it was a cache issue, it doesn't make sense that I can just refresh and get different results by hitting F5 while viewing: http://localhost/api/hours_detail/datestamp/2009-03-02/empid/22 Here's the code broken into urls.py and handlers.py so that you can see what i'm doing: URLS.PY urlpatterns = patterns('', #hours_detail/id/{id}/empid/{empid}/projid/{projid}/datestamp/{datestamp}/daterange/{fromdate}to{todate}/limit/{first|last}/exact #empid is required # id, empid, projid, datestamp, daterange can be in any order url(r'^api/hours_detail/(?:' + \ r'(?:[/]?id/(?P<id>\d+))?' + \ r'(?:[/]?empid/(?P<empid>\d+))?' + \ r'(?:[/]?projid/(?P<projid>\d+))?' + \ r'(?:[/]?datestamp/(?P<datestamp>\d{4,}[-/\.]\d{2,}[-/\.]\d{2,}))?' + \ r'(?:[/]?daterange/(?P<daterange>(?:\d{4,}[-/\.]\d{2,}[-/\.]\d{2,})(?:to|/-)(?:\d{4,}[-/\.]\d{2,}[-/\.]\d{2,})))?' + \ r')+' + \ r'(?:/limit/(?P<limit>(?:first|last)))?' + \ r'(?:/(?P<exact>exact))?$', hours_detail_resource), HANDLERS.PY # inherit from BaseHandler to add the extra functionality i need to process the possibly null URL params class BaseApiHandler(BaseHandler): # keep track of the handler so the data is represented back to me correctly post_name = 'base' # THIS IS THE LIST IN QUESTION - SOMETIMES IT IS GETTING SET TO [0,1] MYSTERIOUSLY # this gets set to a list when the results are to be limited limit = None def has_limit(self): return (isinstance(self.limit, list) and len(self.limit) == 2) def process_kwarg_read(self, key, value, d_post, b_exact): """ this should be overridden in the derived classes to process kwargs """ pass # override 'read' so we can better handle our api's searching capabilities def read(self, request, *args, **kwargs): d_post = {'status':0,'statusmsg':'Nothing Happened'} try: # setup the named response object # select all employees then filter - querysets are lazy in django # the actual query is only done once data is needed, so this may # seem like some memory hog slow beast, but it's actually not. d_post[self.post_name] = self.queryset(request) # this is a string that holds debug information... it's the string I mentioned before pasting this code s_query = '' b_exact = False if 'exact' in kwargs and kwargs['exact'] <> None: b_exact = True s_query = '\'exact\':True,' for key, value in kwargs.iteritems(): # the regex url possibilities will push None into the kwargs dictionary # if not specified, so just continue looping through if that's the case if value == None or key == 'exact': continue # write to the s_query string so we have a nice error message s_query = '%s\'%s\':\'%s\',' % (s_query, key, value) # now process this key/value kwarg self.process_kwarg_read(key=key, value=value, d_post=d_post, b_exact=b_exact) # end of the kwargs for loop else: if self.has_limit(): # THIS SEEMS TO GET HIT SOMETIMES IF YOU CONSTANTLY REFRESH THE API PAGE, EVEN THOUGH # THE LINE IN THE FOR LOOP WHICH UPDATES s_query DOESN'T GET HIS AND THUS self.process_kwarg_read ALSO # DOESN'T GET HIT SO NEITHER DOES limit = [0,1] s_query = '%swith limit[%s,%s](limit,%s),' % (s_query, self.limit[0], self.limit[1], kwargs['limit']) d_post[self.post_name] = d_post[self.post_name][self.limit[0]:self.limit[1]] if d_post[self.post_name].count() == 0: d_post['status'] = 0 d_post['statusmsg'] = '%s not found with query: {%s}' % (self.post_name, s_query) else: d_post['status'] = 1 d_post['statusmsg'] = '%s %s found with query: {%s}' % (d_post[self.post_name].count(), self.post_name, s_query) except: e = sys.exc_info()[1] d_post['status'] = 0 d_post['statusmsg'] = 'error: %s' % e d_post[self.post_name] = [] return d_post class HoursDetailHandler(BaseApiHandler): #allowed_methods = ('GET',) model = HoursDetail exclude = () post_name = 'hours_detail' def process_kwarg_read(self, key, value, d_post, b_exact): if ... # I have several if/elif statements here that check for other things... # 'self.limit =' only shows up in the following elif: elif key == 'limit': order_by = 'clock_time' if value == 'last': order_by = '-clock_time' d_post[self.post_name] = d_post[self.post_name].order_by(order_by) # TO GET HERE, THE ONLY PLACE IN CODE WHERE self.limit IS SET, YOU MUST HAVE GONE THROUGH # THE value == None CHECK???? self.limit = [0, 1] else: raise NameError def read(self, request, *args, **kwargs): # empid is required, so make sure it exists before running BaseApiHandler's read method if not('empid' in kwargs and kwargs['empid'] <> None and kwargs['empid'] >= 0): return {'status':0,'statusmsg':'empid cannot be empty'} else: return BaseApiHandler.read(self, request, *args, **kwargs) Does anyone have a clue how else self.limit might be getting set to [0, 1] ? • no matching function for call to 'getline'

    - by WTP
I have a class called parser: class parser { const std::istream& stream; public: parser(const std::istream& stream_) : stream(stream_) {} ~parser() {} void parse(); }; In parser::parse I want to loop over each line, so I use std::getline: std::getline(stream, line) The compiler gives me this error, however: src/parser.cc:10:7: error: no matching function for call to 'getline' std::getline(stream, line); ^~~~~~~~~~~~ But the first argument to std::getline is of type std::istream&, right? What could I be doing wrong?

  • Out of Memory When Loading Java Entities

    - by Hugh Buchanan
I have a terrible problem that hopefully has a very simple answer. I am running out of memory when I perform a basic If I have code like this: MyEntity myEntity; for (Object id: someIdList) { myEntity = find(id); // do something basic with myEntity } And the find() method is a standard EntityManager related method: public MyEntity find(Object id) { return em.find(mycorp.ejb.entity.MyEntity.class, id); } This code worked a couple of weeks ago, and works fine if there are fewer items in the database. The resulting error I am facing is: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded The exception is coming from oracle toplink calling some oracle jdbc methods. The loop exists because an EJBQL such as "select object(o) from MyEntity as o" will overload the application server when there are lots of records.

  • More pythonic way to iterate

    - by fmark
I am using a module that is part of a commercial software API. The good news is there is a python module - the bad news is that its pretty unpythonic. To iterate over rows, the follwoing syntax is used: cursor = gp.getcursor(table) row = cursor.Next() while row: #do something with row row = cursor.next() What is the most pythonic way to deal with this situation? I have considered creating a first class function/generator and wrapping calls to a for loop in it: def cursor_iterator(cursor): row = cursor.Next() while row: yield row row = cursor.next() [...] cursor = gp.getcursor(table) for row in cursor_iterator(cursor): # do something with row This is an improvement, but feels a little clumsy. Is there a more pythonic approach? Should I create a wrapper class around the table type?

  • How to set the skin of a DotNetNuke page through code?

    - by ks78
I'm working on a DNN module that creates DNN pages (tabs) and places DNN modules on them through code. So, far that's working very well. However, I'd like it to also be able to programmatically set the page's skin and place the modules in the appropriate pane. Does anyone know how to do this using code? Solution: I set SkinSrc and ContainerSrc as mika suggested. Here's my source, if you're interested. This is where I set SkinSrc. ''' <summary>Create new DNN tab/page.</summary> Private Function CreatePage(ByVal ParentID As Integer, ByVal PageName As String, ByVal PageTitle As String, ByVal Description As String, ByVal Keywords As String, ByVal Permissions As TabPermissionCollection, Optional ByVal SkinSrc As String = "", Optional ByVal isVisible As Boolean = True, Optional ByVal LoadDefaultModules As Boolean = True) As Tabs.TabInfo Try Dim tabCtrlr As New TabController Dim newTab As New Tabs.TabInfo Dim newPermissions As TabPermissionCollection = newTab.TabPermissions Dim permissionProvider As PermissionProvider = permissionProvider.Instance Dim infPermission As TabPermissionInfo ' set new page properties newTab.PortalID = PortalId newTab.TabName = PageName newTab.Title = PageTitle newTab.Description = Description newTab.KeyWords = Keywords newTab.IsDeleted = False newTab.IsSuperTab = False newTab.IsVisible = isVisible newTab.DisableLink = False newTab.IconFile = "" newTab.Url = "" newTab.ParentId = ParentID 'add skinsrc if specified If (SkinSrc.Length > 0) Then newTab.SkinSrc = SkinSrc ' create new page tabCtrlr.AddTab(newTab, LoadDefaultModules) ' copy permissions selected in Permissions collection For index As Integer = 0 To (Permissions.Count - 1) infPermission = New TabPermissionInfo infPermission.AllowAccess = Permissions(index).AllowAccess infPermission.RoleID = Permissions(index).RoleID infPermission.RoleName = Permissions(index).RoleName infPermission.TabID = Permissions(index).TabID infPermission.PermissionID = Permissions(index).PermissionID 'save permission info newPermissions.Add(infPermission, True) permissionProvider.SaveTabPermissions(newTab) Next index 'return TabInfo of new page Return newTab Catch ex As Exception 'failure Return New Tabs.TabInfo End Try End Function These next two functions were taken from the DNN source and tweaked slightly, so I can't take credit for much of them. Also, if you use these in your own modules there could be issues when upgrading DNN. Although the upgrade from 5.05 to 5.06 went smoothly for me. • Is there a Novatel Wireless Modem Emulator or something similar?

    - by David Brown
Novatel Wireless provides their NovaCore SDK for developers wishing to interface with their line of modems. I'm currently developing an open source managed wrapper for it, but I'm having difficulties with testing. I own a Novatel MiFi and have mobile broadband service through Sprint, but that can only get me so far. The device is already activated, thus I can't test the network activation features of the NovaCore SDK. There are also certain features only available for HSPA modems, which I am not able to get in my area. Is there an emulator capable of emulating a Novatel Wireless modem so that I can test my library without physical hardware and an actual data connection? If not, do you have any other suggestions that might help in this situation? I've contacted Novatel Wireless via email and their developer forum, but have not received a response. Thanks!

  • Big O complexity of simple for not always linear?

    - by i30817
    I'm sure most of you know that a nested loop has O(n^2) complexity if the function input size is n for(int i = 0; i < n; i++){ for(int j = 0; j < n; j++){ ... } } I think that this is similar, by a analogous argument, but i'm not sure can anyone confirm? for(int i = 0, max = n*n; i < max; i++{ ... } If so i guess that there is some kinds of code whose big O mapping is not immediately obvious besides recursion and subroutines.

  • Reducing piracy of iPhone applications

    - by Alex Reynolds
What are accepted methods to reduce iPhone application piracy, which do not violate Apple's evaluation process? If my application "phones home" to provide the unique device ID on which it runs, what other information would I need to collect (e.g., the Apple ID used to purchase the application) to create a valid registration token that authorizes use of the application? Likewise, what code would I use to access that extra data? What seem to be the best available technical approaches to this problem, at the present time? (Please refrain from non-programming answers about how piracy is inevitable, etc.)

  • IE7 resize problems

    - by moshe_ravid
i have a page that contains content which need to be dynamically changed according to the current page size. in order to do that, during the onload event, i attach some JS function to the "onresize" window event. it looks like that: window.onresize = function() { //do something here... }; This is working fine in any browse, except IE7! These are the problems i'm having: It seems that in IE7, when i resize the window vertically only (i.e. clicking with the mouse on the bottom border, and drag it down), it does not fire the "onresize" event. sometimes, i get an infinite loop of "onresize" event, causing the browser to hang forever. I will appreciate any help with any of these issues. thanks, Moe

  • Wifi and 3G same time

    - by Skolleus
For my App I need Data from both, a local Network and the Internet. The local Network (Wifi) has no connection to the internet so I have to use the mobile connection (3G for Example). But whenever I connect to the local Network, 3G stopps. After asking the Samsung Service, there is no way to change that in the UI. But they couldn't tell me, if there is a programmable Interface for that. There is a mobile access point inside, so there is a way to connect a Wifi device to the Internet (which means that both, a wifi and a 3G connection is possible the same time in that way). But for my App the phone/tab has to connect to the existing Network and use the 3G for Internet. So this is my question here. Is there a way to connect to an existing Network and using 3G for Internet the same time?

  • Monotouch Binding to Linea Pro SDK

    - by jeffrapp
I'm trying to create a binding to the Linea Pro (it's the barcode scanner they use in the Apple Stores, Lowes) SDK. I'm using David Sandor's bindings as a reference, but the SDK has been updated a few times since January of 2011. I have most everything working, except for the playSound call, which is used to, well, play a sound on the Linea Pro device. The .h file from the SDK has the call as follows: -(BOOL)playSound:(int)volume beepData:(int *)data length:(int)length error:(NSError **)error; I've tried using int[], NSArray, and an IntPtr to the int[], but nothing seems to work. The last unsuccessful iteration of my binding looks like: [Export ("playSound:beepData:length:")] void PlaySound (int volume, NSArray data, int length); Now, this doesn't work at all. Also note that I have no idea what to do with the error:(NSError **)error part, either. I am lacking some serious familiarity with C, so any help would be extremely appreciated.

  • ASP.NET Gridview Checkbox value to DataTable

    - by Mark
Hey all, First off, im using a checkbox to highlight a true or false value from a dataset which I want to be able to change it. Unfortunately databinding the DataTable to the GridView checkboxes doesnt work (as you probably know) as it requires it to be in "edit" mode. The way I've gotten round this is having the checkbox reading the data table value seperately rather than being databound and locked: Checked='<%# Convert.ToBoolean(Eval("myValue")) %>' So that solves checkbox values from DataTable - GridView, now I need to do the opposite having the changed checkbox values go from GridView - DataTable as it is not ready to submit it to my data source (SQL) just yet. I figure I need to run a loop through the GridView rows, thats a give'un, what I can't figure out is how to replace/update just a single value in a row of a DataTable , only the ability to add or remove an entire row by the looks of things (something I don't want to do). So can anyone offer a workaround? Or is there a way to have a databound but always editable checkbox in a gridview?

Is there a way for the developer of an App Store application to tie a sale to an individual user/device ID/Apple account? In other words, a method for the developer to double-check that a specific user has legally purchased the software? I haven't been able to find a reliable answer to this yet. I'm not looking for specific code examples, just some sort of idea as to how possible (or difficult) this is. My intent isn't to penalize piracy; it's to be able to provide additional benefits to paid customers. As such, I'm not looking for a way to identify a cracked or pirated version, which I gather has already been solved. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

  • w3wp.exe in ASP.NET production app is using 100% CPU. How to find the problem ?

    - by Tucker
Hi, we have an asp.net app in production where w3wp.exe is taking 100% CPU ( 4 cores - 4 threads at 25% ) and cpu load never goes down until we recycle the application pool ( the app is alone in the application pool ). Our error log has nothing, there is no exceptions being emitted ( or at least we don't catch them ) so we suspect it's code problem ( infinite loop / deadlock ). The problem only arises after some hours running with high load ( several thousand users ). There is any way to profile one of the EXISTING threads that is causing cpu load ? After taking a look to JetBrains's DotTrace Profiler seems like it's not possible for limitations of Profiling API and man, we haven't get to reproduce the problem in our testing environment. The app uses SQL Server 2005, LINQ2SQL and System.Transactions API. Any suggestion to find the problem ?

  • Android getWifiState to String

    - by ahsteele
I am attempting to get the string representation of an Android device's current WiFi state. I am using the getWifiState() method of the WiFiManager and am getting an integer returned depending on the current state. This makes total sense as getWifiState() is supposed to return an integer. The method's documentation indicates that the possible return values translate to one of the following constant values 0 WIFI_STATE_DISABLING 1 WIFI_STATE_DISABLED 2 WIFI_STATE_ENABLING 3 WIFI_STATE_ENABLED 4 WIFI_STATE_UNKNOWN Is there an easy way to translate the integer returned from getWiFiState() to a string representation? I've looked at getIntExtra but am unsure of its use.

  • How do you interface with a USB to Parallel adapter?

    - by Hans
I'm currently doing a project where I have to interact with a circuit I made through the parallel port of a computer. However, my computer doesn't have a parallel port so I borrowed a Parallel to USB adapter cable. The cable didn't come with any drivers, but it's recognized by the device manager as a "USB Printing Support" controller, under the USB section. It seems that old parallel printers can be plugged in and work properly without any problems. So my question is, if I write a program in Java that tries to interact with a parallel port directly, will it work? And if not, can anyone give me some pointers as to what I need to do to interact with it? Thanks.
