  • iOS : is it possible to open previous viewController after crashing and re-launch app?

    - by Nitin Gohel
    How to achieve this stuff below? Please give me some guidance for it. I describe my issue below. When I tap home button and remove app from tray and while I am opening app I get the login screen. I know how to use NSUserDefaults well. But my issue is that when I navigate 3rd or 4th viewController and I press Home Button and remove app from tray, Then whenever I open app than I want to open with last open viewController. Also same when my app is Crashing and I am opening it again then I want to open app with last open viewController state. So I just want to know that is that possible or not? If yes, then please guide me how to achieve this stuff. Thank you

  • nsmutabledictionary is showing memory leak

    - by Narasimhaiah Kolli
    Why doing assigning nil to nsmutabledictioanry and allocating is crashing ans showing memory release at this point of place?? self.delegate.replenishAddedmaterials = nil; self.delegate.replenishAddedmaterials = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; MATERIAL_ITEM *materialItem = [[MATERIAL_ITEM alloc] init]; VENDOR_HEADER *vendor = [[VENDOR_HEADER alloc] init]; PURCHASING_ORG_HEADER *purOrg = [[PURCHASING_ORG_HEADER alloc] init]; [self.delegate.replenishAddedmaterials setObject:[NSMutableArray arrayWithObject:materialItem] forKey:materialItem]; [[self.delegate.replenishAddedmaterials objectForKey:materialItem] addObject:vendor]; [[self.delegate.replenishAddedmaterials objectForKey:materialItem] addObject:purOrg]; After executing allocation of nsmutabledictionary i am getting following message * -[MATERIAL_ITEM release]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x11e62810I have implemented my project in ARC

  • Open Maps app from Code : Where to find the "Current Location"?

    - by Simon
    I am opening Maps app to show directions from user's Current Location to a destination coordinate, from my code. I am using the following code to open the Maps app. I am calling this code when a button is pressed. - (void)showDirectionsToHere { CLLocationCoordinate2D currentLocation = [self getCurrentLocation]; // LINE 1 NSString* url = [NSString stringWithFormat: @"http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=%f,%f&daddr=%f,%f", destCoordinate.latitude + 0.1, destCoordinate.longitude, destCoordinate.latitude, destCoordinate.longitude];//8.3, 12.1 [[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString:url]]; } Here [self getCurrentLocation] in LINE 1 uses CLLocationManager to determine the Current Location and returns the value. Note: I have not yet implemented the LINE1. I've just planned to do in that way. My question is, Is this a good practice to calculate the Current Location, at the time the Maps app is called? [self getCurrentLocation] will retrun the Current Location before openURL gets called? I have to determine the Current Location well before opening the Maps app? I am little bit confused about these things. Kindly guide me. Thanks.

  • Need help with UISearchBar and NSString

    - by guydor
    Hi, I would like to make an if command that checks the value of my UISearchBar in that way if the value of the UISearchBar is equals to " " or multiple spaces without words and chars, an alert will popup. Well, I don't need help with the creation of the alert but I do need help with the if command and the spaces. I know how to do it with multiple "if" command but I want with only 1. Thanks!

  • How to check image during animation

    - by TomTom
    I have set up an animation in the following way (self is an UIImageView, myImages an Array of UIImages): self.animationImages = myImages; self.animationDuration = 50; self.animationRepeatCount = 0; [self startAnimating]; During the animation I'd like to check the current image. I tried it the following way if([self image]==[UIImage imageNamed:@"image1.png"]); but this does not work. Is there a straight forward way for this? Can I keep track of which image is shown during the animation?

  • want to go to next view from rightbarbutton item.

    - by uttam
    I am using this code to get the three button on the right side of the navigationbar ,button are visible but next to this I want to go to the next view from this three button image, text ,vedio. NSArray *segmentTextContent = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"Image",@"Text",@"Video",nil]; UISegmentedControl *segmentedControl = [[UISegmentedControl alloc] initWithItems:segmentTextContent]; segmentedControl.frame = CGRectMake(13, 20, 150, kCustomButtonHeight); segmentedControl.segmentedControlStyle = UISegmentedControlStyleBar; segmentedControl.momentary = YES; defaultTintColor = [segmentedControl.tintColor retain]; // keep track of this for later UIBarButtonItem *segmentBarItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:segmentedControl]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = segmentBarItem; if(segmentedControl.selectedSegmentIndex=0) { [segmentedControl addTarget:self action:@selector(segmentAction:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventValueChanged]; } else if(segmentedControl.selectedSegmentIndex==1) { [segmentedControl addTarget:self action:@selector(segmentAction1:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventValueChanged]; } else if(segmentedControl.selectedSegmentIndex==2) { [segmentedControl addTarget:self action:@selector(segmentAction2:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventValueChanged]; } [segmentBarItem release]; //[modalBarButtonItem release]; } return self; }

  • How to calculate a point with an given center, angle and radius?

    - by mystify
    In this SO question, someone asked for calculating an angle from three points. I need to do the opposite thing. I want to draw a clock, and I have tiny tick images. An art dude made 60 of them, each with an individual and accurate shadow. So there are 60 distinct images at 10x10 points in size, already correctly rotated in the center of that square. So every 6 degrees one tick image has to be placed. I would just need to calculate the x/y coordinate based on a center point, an radius and an angle. So I have: an center point an radius an angle Is there an easy way to calculate the x/y coordinate with this? Maybe cocoa-touch already has a useful function or method for this?

  • CoreGraphics taking a while to show on a large view - can i get it to repeat pixels?

    - by Andrew
    This is my coregraphics code: void drawTopPaperBackground(CGContextRef context, CGRect rect) { CGRect paper3 = CGRectMake(10, 14, 300, rect.size.height - 14); CGRect paper2 = CGRectMake(13, 12, 294, rect.size.height - 12); CGRect paper1 = CGRectMake(16, 10, 288, rect.size.height - 10); //Shadow CGContextSetShadowWithColor(context, CGSizeMake(0,0), 10, [[UIColor colorWithWhite:0 alpha:0.5]CGColor]); CGPathRef path = createRoundedRectForRect(paper3, 0); CGContextSetFillColorWithColor(context, [[UIColor blackColor] CGColor]); CGContextAddPath(context, path); CGContextFillPath(context); //Layers of paper //CGContextSaveGState(context); drawPaper(context, paper3); drawPaper(context, paper2); drawPaper(context, paper1); //CGContextRestoreGState(context); } void drawPaper(CGContextRef context, CGRect rect) { //Shadow CGContextSaveGState(context); CGContextSetShadowWithColor(context, CGSizeMake(0,0), 1, [[UIColor colorWithWhite:0 alpha:0.5]CGColor]); CGPathRef path = createRoundedRectForRect(rect, 0); CGContextSetFillColorWithColor(context, [[UIColor blackColor] CGColor]); CGContextAddPath(context, path); CGContextFillPath(context); //CGContextRestoreGState(context); //Gradient //CGContextSaveGState(context); CGColorRef startColor = [UIColor colorWithWhite:0.92 alpha:1.0].CGColor; CGColorRef endColor = [UIColor colorWithWhite:0.94 alpha:1.0].CGColor; CGRect firstHalf = CGRectMake(rect.origin.x, rect.origin.y, rect.size.width / 2, rect.size.height); CGRect secondHalf = CGRectMake(rect.origin.x + (rect.size.width / 2), rect.origin.y, rect.size.width / 2, rect.size.height); drawVerticalGradient(context, firstHalf, startColor, endColor); drawVerticalGradient(context, secondHalf, endColor, startColor); //CGContextRestoreGState(context); //CGContextSaveGState(context); CGRect redRect = rectForRectWithInset(rect, -1); CGMutablePathRef redPath = createRoundedRectForRect(redRect, 0); //CGContextSaveGState(context); CGContextSetStrokeColorWithColor(context, [[UIColor blackColor] CGColor]); CGContextAddPath(context, path); CGContextClip(context); CGContextAddPath(context, redPath); CGContextSetShadowWithColor(context, CGSizeMake(0, 0), 15.0, [[UIColor colorWithWhite:0 alpha:0.1] CGColor]); CGContextStrokePath(context); CGContextRestoreGState(context); } The view is a UIScrollView, which contains a textview. Every time the user types something and goes onto a new line, I call [self setNeedsDisplay]; and it redraws the code. But when the view starts to get long - around 1000 height, it has very noticeable lag. How can i make this code more efficient? Can i take a line of pixels and make it just repeat that, or stretch it, all the way down?

  • Why does the last row of my tableview not align to the bottom of the screen

    - by Liam
    I have a view which consists of a tableview and a navigation bar. For my tableview I have implemented a 'Load more' row which will load current + pagesize every time it is clicked The way the loading works is very simple, every time it is clicked I just request the amount of rows I want to display e.g. 5, 10, 15 and so on. This request populates an array and I call [self.tableView reloadData] The issue I am experiencing is that when I go to the tableview the first time, it correctly loads and displays the tableview. However, if I 'Load more' it returns the correct amount and displays the correct number of cells but the last cell will not fit properly at the bottom of the screen, about 1/2 of it (or roughly the size of the navigation bar of the cell) appears below the bottom of the screen. I thought it was sufficient to just tell the tableview to reload itself. Do I need to use [self.tableView insertRowsAtIndexPaths ...] to do this.

  • How to tell a UITableView to preload all Rows?

    - by Infinite
    Is there a way to tell a UITableView to preload all rows? The tableView is supposed to show several comments (up to 80 comments). So my CommentCell uses a Setter to adapt the cell to a specific comment. -(void)setComment:(Comment *)newComment { if (newComment != comment) { [comment release]; comment = [newComment retain]; /* * set the cells view variables here */ } } This specific setter takes quite a bunch of processing resources and scrolling gets kinda laggy. I am using a comment-specific reuseIdentifier instead of a static cellIdentifier when calling dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier: in order to assure, that "newComment" equals the old "comment". And in fact this does work great when scrolling over cells which have already been loaded. But when scrolling through the comments for the first time, it still lags like hell. Which leads me to my question: Is there a way to tell the tableview to preload all cells? (which I doubt) or Do I have to implement my own cache instead of relying on "dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:"?

  • release viewcontroller after presenting modally

    - by Jonathan
    I was watching CS193P Stanford course on Itunes, and in one of the lectures a demo was given and There it was said you could present the viewcontroller modally and then release it. Roughly like this (I know this isn't perfect but I'm on my PC atm) [self.view presentcontentmodally:myVC] [myVC release]; However this seems to produce problems. If I put a NSLog(@"%d", [myVC retainCount]) between those two lines then it returns 2 implying it is ok to release. However when I dismiss the myVC the app crashes. Nothing in the NSlog and the debugger won't show where it stopped. But I used malloc-history or something that some blog said would help. And found that it was the myVC. So should I be releasing myVC? (also when the modalVC has been dissmissed should the app's memory usuage go back to before the modalVC was presented?)

  • Creating UIButton using helper method

    - by ddawber
    I have a subclass of UITableView and in it I want to generate number of labels that share the same properties (font, textColor, backgroundColor, etc.). I decided the easiest way to achieve this would be to create a helper method which creates the label with some common properties set: - (UILabel *)defaultLabelWithFrame:(CGRect)frame { UILabel *label = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:frame]; label.font = [UIFont fontWithName:@"Helvetica" size:14]; label.textColor = [UIColor colorWithWhite:128.0/255.0 alpha:1.0]; label.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; return label; } I use the method like this: UILabel *someLabel = [self defaultLabelWithFrame:CGRectMake(0,0,100,100)]; [self addSubview:someLabel]; [someLabel release]; My concern here is that when creating the label in the method it is retained, but when I then assign it to someLabel, it is retained again and I have no way of releasing the memory when created in the method. What would be best the best approach here? I fee like I have two options: Create a subclass of UILabel for the default label type. Create an NSMutableArray called defaultLabels and store the labels in this: - (UILabel *)defaultLabelWithFrame:(CGRect)frame { UILabel *label = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:frame]; label.font = [UIFont fontWithName:@"Helvetica" size:14]; label.textColor = [UIColor colorWithWhite:128.0/255.0 alpha:1.0]; label.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; [defaultLabels addObject:label]; [labels release]; //I can release here return [defaultLabels lastObject]; //I can release defaultLabels when done } I appreciate your thoughts. Cheers.

  • iPad device orientation is null?

    - by Brodie4598
    ([UIDevice currentDevice].orientation); using the above code in my app, all i get is 0 (unknown) is there something thats going wrong here? Seems pretty straightforward edit: more research led me to the problem with using device orientation early in the app, which I am doing. However when I instead use interfaceOrientation, it always returns 1 (portrait)

  • Autorelease and properties

    - by ganuke
    I have few questions to ask about the following class #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h> @interface SomeObject { NSString *title; } @property (retain) NSString *title; @end implementation SomeObject @synthesize title; -(id)init { if (self=[super init]) { self.title=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"allyouneed"]; } return self; } -(void)testMethod{ self.title=[[NSString alloc] init] ; } -(void)dealloc { self.title=nil; [super dealloc]; } In the .h file do we need to declare the title and sub when we add the property. is it not enough to add the @property (retain) NSString *title; line. 2.Do i need to autorelease both assignment to title in the init and testMethod. if So why? Can some one explain these things to me.

  • UIEvent timestamp

    - by skajam66
    When handling a UIButton touch, you are given a UIEvent object. The UIEvent object has a timestamp which the Apple documentation states as being "the time that the event was created" (UIEvent Class Reference). In the documentation on the Main Event Loop, it states that: "The application object obtains the topmost object in the event queue, converts it to an event object (UIEvent) ..." Does [UIEvent timestamp] refer to the time at which the UIEvent object is created (i.e. after processing the touch event off of the main run loop and hance not remotely real-time) or does it refer to the time that the underlying touch object was created (and hence as close as possible to representing the actual time of the user touch9?

  • How to extract the actual NSString from json object as NSArray

    - by Toran Billups
    I'm working with a large set of json and really just need the NSString representation of what's inside the NSArray -including all the { } My question is this - is their a better way than simply looping through each NSArray inside the main NSArray and outputting the description one by one? ie- the below is a start to this process but it's very brittle meaning I need to know each item inside the hat {} and this isn't something I actually care about. I just need the json string to move forward. The working code is below (thank you in advance!) NSString* responseString = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:responseData encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; [responseData release]; NSArray* json = [responseString JSONValue]; NSArray* item = [json valueForKeyPath:@"d.data"]; NSArray* hatjson = [item objectForKey:@"hat"]; NSMutableString * result = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; for (NSObject * obj in hatjson) { [result appendString:[obj description]]; } NSLog(@"the hat json is .. %@", result);

  • Set text equal to string and pass to receipt printer at a different size on iOS

    - by Max Roper
    I am using the StarIO SDK to print text to a receipt printer and I am trying to get a certain line of text larger than the rest. I have some help from their support but I can't really get it to go. -(void)print{ NSMutableString *final=[NSMutableString stringWithFormat:@"-----"]; [final appendFormat:@"\n\nLevel:%@ Section:%@ Row:%@ Seat:%@", [response_dict objectForKey:@"level"], [response_dict objectForKey:@"section"],[response_dict objectForKey:@"row"],[response_dict objectForKey:@"seat"]]; There is a bunch of other stuff that is printing, but that is the line that I would like to be a different size than the rest. The StarIO support said that I should try and pass that to this... -(IBAction)PrintText { NSString *portName = [IOS_SDKViewController getPortName]; NSString *portSettings = [IOS_SDKViewController getPortSettings]; [PrinterFunctions PrintTextWithPortname:portName portSettings:portSettings heightExpansion:heightExpansion widthExpansion:widthExpansion textData:textData textDataSize:[textNSData length]]; free(textData); } Would love some help if possible. :) Thanks so much. This is the main bit I think I would need from the StarIO Text formatting doc... - (id)initWithNibName:(NSString *)nibNameOrNil bundle:(NSBundle *)nibBundleOrNil { self = [super initWithNibName:nibNameOrNil bundle:nibBundleOrNil]; if (self) { array_hieghtExpansion = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; [array_hieghtExpansion addObject:@"1"]; [array_hieghtExpansion addObject:@"2"]; [array_hieghtExpansion addObject:@"3"]; [array_hieghtExpansion addObject:@"4"]; [array_hieghtExpansion addObject:@"5"]; [array_hieghtExpansion addObject:@"6"]; array_widthExpansion = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; [array_widthExpansion addObject:@"1"]; [array_widthExpansion addObject:@"2"]; [array_widthExpansion addObject:@"3"]; [array_widthExpansion addObject:@"4"]; [array_widthExpansion addObject:@"5"]; [array_widthExpansion addObject:@"6"]; array_alignment = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; [array_alignment addObject:@"Left"]; [array_alignment addObject:@"Center"]; [array_alignment addObject:@"Right"]; } return self; } and int heightExpansion = [pickerpopup_heightExpansion getSelectedIndex]; int widthExpansion = [pickerpopup_widthExpansion getSelectedIndex];

  • UIImageView and UIScrollView load lot of pictures

    - by Allan.Chen
    In my app, i use UIImageView and UIScrollView to show lot of pictures(Every time there are about 20 pictures and every pictures about 600px*500px and size is about 600KB ), i use for this code to do this function. Here is code: //Here is pictures Data; self.klpArry = self.pictureData; CGSize size = self.klpScrollView1.frame.size; for (int i=0; i < [klpArr count]; i++) { UIImageView *iv = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake((size.width * i)+300, 20, 546, 546)]; NSString *filePath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:[klpArr objectAtIndex:i] ofType:@"jpg"]; UIImage *imageData = [[UIImage alloc]initWithData:[NSData dataWithContentsOfFile:filePath]]; [iv setImage:imageData]; iv.backgroundColor = [UIColor grayColor]; [self.klpScrollView1 addSubview:iv]; imageData = nil; iv = nil; iv.image = nil; filePath = nil; [imageData release]; [filePath release]; [iv release]; } // show the picture in scrollview; [self.klpScrollView1 setContentSize:CGSizeMake(size.width * numImage, size.height)]; self.klpScrollView1.pagingEnabled = YES; self.klpScrollView1.showsHorizontalScrollIndicator = NO; self.klpScrollView1.backgroundColor = [UIColor grayColor]; But everytime i init this function, the memory will increase about 5MB, Actually i release UIImageView, UIimage and UIScrollView (vi.image=nil,[vi release]) but i doesn't work, it can't release the memory. BTW, i use my friend code first vi.image=nil then vi=nil; but the pictures not to show on scrollview. any one can help me ?? Thx ~~
