• How to put a newline into a column header in an xtable in R

• How to handle a C# console application terminating?

  If I have a console application, is there any way I can handle the following: Ctrl-C (I know the answer to this. Using Console.TreatControlCAsInput and Console.CancelKeyPress) Session termination, such as when someone logs off Process exit, such as when someone uses the task manager to close the application. I know that if I was writing a unix application, I would handle various signals to catch the request to close (SIGTERM from memory), but I also know I need to handle these messages pretty quickly and exit before the system does a kill -9 (SIGKILL). But for a C# console application, I'm not sure how to do this.

  As a means of simple security, I was previously checking the digital signature of a downloaded update package for my program against its public key to ensure that it originated from me. However, as I'm using cheap code signing certs (Tucows), I am unable to renew an existing cert and therefore the keys change every time I need to renew. Therefore, a more reliable means would be to verify the organization information embedded in the signed assembly (which is displayed in the UAC dialog) against my well-known organization string, as this will continue to be the same. Does anyone know how to obtain this information from a digitally-signed assembly?

To optimize resolving JPA's EntityManager I would like to create helper (JPAResourceBean) that implements lazy load of entity manager. For this purposes I'm going to use struts2's bean declaration: <bean name="myfactory" class="my.model.JPAResourceBean" scope="session" optional="false"/> Why bean is not instantiated neither in session? • Why does headless PDE Build omit directories I've specified in build.properties's bin.includes?

  One of my Eclipse plug-ins (OSGi bundles) is supposed to contain a directory (Database Elements) of .sql files. My build.properties shows: bin.includes = META-INF/,\ .,\ Database Elements/ (...which looks right to me.) When I build and run from within my interactive Eclipse IDE, everything works fine: calls to Bundle.getEntry(String) and Bundle.findEntries(String, String, bool) return valid URL objects; my tests are happy; my code is happy. When I build via headless ant script (using PDE Build), those same calls end up returning null. My tests break; my code breaks. I find that Database Elements is quietly but simply missing from my plug-in's JAR package. (META-INF and the built classes still make it in there fine.) I scoured the build log (even eventually invoking ant -verbose on the relevant portion of the build script) but saw no mention of anything helpful. What gives?

• Different url scheme for Zend Framework

  For our CMS we have a site manager that defines the site's tree structure (sitemap if you want to call it that). A possible url is www.example.com/our-team/developers/chris/ which would map in the tree structure to the node chris, child old developers which is in turn a child of out-team. All this is in place and working the the wonderfully implemented Nested Set behavior in doctrine. The only thing is that i'm struggling to get it working in the front end of our website. By default Zend framework's request object expects controller/action/key/value/key/value/... URI scheme but that isn't quite fitting my needs, i would like to skip the whole controller, action and key part and restrict to values. Something like value1/value2/value3/value4/... Anyone has an idea how to accomplish this?

• MKReverseGeocoder delegate location?

  I have a quick question regarding memory management that I am not quite sure about. I currently have a locationManager delegate that calls locationManager:didUpdateToLocation:fromLocation when it resolves the device location. My question is I am looking at adding ReverseGeoCoding after I have obtained the [newLocation coordinate] but am unsure about doing the alloc here, as each time locationManager:didUpdateToLocation:fromLocation gets called I will be alloc-ing a new MKReverseGeoCoder? // LOCATION -(void)locationManager:(CLLocationManager *)manager didUpdateToLocation:(CLLocation *)newLocation fromLocation:(CLLocation *)oldLocation { // GeoCoding: MKReverseGeocoder *geoCoder = [[MKReverseGeocoder alloc] initWithCoordinate:[newLocation coordinate]]; [geoCoder setDelegate:self]; [geoCoder start]; [self foundLocation]; } Can anyone point me in the right direction with regards to this? • UnitTest++ creates cmd windows, which can't be closed

  Hello, I have a setup for using UnitTest++ like this in VS2008. Sometimes the cmd window, which shows the console output of the unit tests just hangs. I can move the window, resize and stuff, but I'm unable to close it. I see the window in the App tab of the Task Manager, but not in the Process tab, "Switch to process" doesn't work either. Stop debugging or closing VS is also no help, it seems VS has lost control over this window. If this cmd window is lost, I'm unable to shutdown my computer, which is pretty annoying Any hints?

• Selecting the App Pool for a web custom folder in a Web Setup Project (Visual Studio)

  I've got a Web Setup Project in VS2008 that is taking the files for two web applications and turning them into a single setup package. This works and I have got it asking for the user to select the application pool but the application pool is only being applied to the project sat in the Web Application Folder and not the one in the Web Custom Folder that I added for the second project. How do I force it to set both applications to the same app pool? Thanks in advance for any help on this it seems like it should be simple but I've been mucking round with it for ages to no avail.

  I have a query that I'm trying to figure the "django" way of doing it: I want to take the last 100 calls from Call. Which is easy: calls = Call.objects.all().order_by('-call_time')[:100] However the next part I can't find the way to do it via django's ORM. I want to get a list of the call_types and the number of calls each one has WITHIN that previous queryset i just did. Normally i would do a query like this: "SELECT COUNT(id),calltype FROM call WHERE id IN ( SELECT id FROM call ORDER BY call_time DESC LIMIT 100 ) GROUP BY calltype;" I can't seem to find the django way of doing this particular query. • how to set the background image property of a div to a dynamically generated image

  I have some divs and each one has its own background image. The base images as stored is just a black silhouette. What I would like to do is use the PHP GD package to modify the color of those images somewhat randomly and have the modified randomly coloured images be the background images of the divs. One way to do it is just create GD images structures from the original files, modify them, save the results as a temp file, pass this filename into the client, and then use jquery to modify the css background image properties of the divs to be the new file. But this is going to leave a lot of files laying around to garbage collect. Is there some way to do it without creating a bunch of files?

• Localize node texts in treeview using resource files

  For a project I need a tree view that allows the user to select a module, which then is displayed in a content area. The project relies heavily on localization and this is provided by the resource files. Now I discovered today, that the text that are assigned to preset tree view nodes are not contained in the resource files. So the question is whether there is a way of doing this, short of mapping the elemenst in code. I.e. assigning a name to the node, running over all nodes and pulling the resources from the resouce manager based on the node name.   Yesterday I created a simple image servlet and attempted to deploy it. I am getting an error on JBoss startup, and then further errors on trying to invoke the servlet. I spent about 8 hours yesterday searching the web for answers and trying different scenarios. I ended up making my JBoss problems worse and then fixing them, but I never did get the servlet to work. As a matter of fact, I even added some code to one of my JSPs to attempt to instantiate the Servlet and call the doGet method. This actually works and outputs the correct debug sequences to the log indicating that the Servlet constructor and doGet methods were called. I also tried following some instructions for creating/deploying a very simple HelloWorld servlet, and that has exactly the same problem. Note that web.xml already contained a servlet put there by JBoss: org.jboss.web.tomcat.service.StatusServlet -- that Servlet does not give any errors in the log. As an experiment, I removed ".web" from that path and ended up getting exactly the same error as I'm getting on my Servlet. So it would appear that JBoss is not able to locate my Servlet given the specified path. Just for kicks, I've tried all sorts of other paths, like just plain MyImageServlet, controller.MyImageServlet, and more. Also, the servlet was originally named ImageServlet, but I attempted the name change thinking maybe there was some conflict with an existing ImageServlet. In all cases, the behavior is the same. After all of my research yesterday, I would say that this appears to be a problem with the JBoss servlet container, and I also learned that JBoss 5.1.0.GA should come bundled with a tomcat servlet container. I installed JBoss on my PC (Windows XP) myself less than 2 months ago (from jboss.org) and used it pretty much as is. Note that I am running on JDK 1.6, so I did use the jboss-jdk6 installation version. I am running on Windows, but I also deploy to a Linux virtual dedicated server. I deployed the current version of my program, including the servlet to the Linux box, but I get the exact same errors. I'm reluctant to just try reinstalling JBoss, since it's hard to place the blame on the JBoss installation when I get the same errors on two completely different installations. I am a bit suspicious of the bundled tomcat servlet container, because using eclipse, I haven't been able to locate any indication that there is a tomcat bundled into JBoss. I did locate servlet-api.jar in the JBoss common/lib directory. This is on the eclipse build path. One possibly useful note: I had previously used a standalone tomcat server for other projects using the same eclipse, so maybe it's some sort of eclipse issue? But, as I said, I do get the same errors when I deploy to the Linux server, and that deployment process just involves ftping files to the server and then putting them into the deployed war package and restarting JBoss.   How can I create a query for a full outer join across a M2M relationchip using the django QuerySet API? It that is not supported, some hint about creating my own manager to do this would be welcome. Edited to add: @S.Lott: Thanks for the enlightenment. The need for the OUTER JOIN comes from the application. It has to generate a report showing the data entered, even if it still incomplete. I was not aware of the fact that the result would be a new class/model. Your hints will help me quite a bit.

• NetBeans not finding JasperReports scriptlet

  I'm using JasperReports 3.7.6 with NetBeans 6.9.1 and iReport 3.7.6. I have a report that uses scriptlets. When I run it from iReport everything is fine because I can tell iReport where to find the .jar file with the scriptlets. When I run that same report from a JSF-2.0 application the fields that rely on the scriptlet are not being populated correctly - i.e. the scriptlet isn't being called. I've tried putting the scriptlet in the project's library folder and I've tried copying the package containing the scriptlet into the project. Neither has worked. I'm not sure how I can get the report to call the scriptlets when it is run from my JSF project. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

• Cross-Page communication in firefox extension

  I have two tabs that my extension uses and I wanted to pass events back and forth between them. I've already developed a Google Chrome extension that does this via the background page api, but there doesn't seem to be an equivalent in firefox. I thought message-manager in the firefox extension docs would do the trick, but the documentation on the object is quite poor. I'd be just as happy with using one of the tabs to control the other if I can't directly import the ideas of a background page from google chrome api. Any help/guidance would be great.

• NuGet: "Unable to load one or more of the requested types"

  I installed NuGet into Visual Web Developer 2010 Express, but when I go to Solution Explorer, right-click on a project's "References" folder, and select "Add Library Package Reference", I immediately get this error: Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information. There's just an OK button, and no way for me to retrieve the additional information it's telling me about. This is a fresh install of NuGet; I've never installed it on this computer before. How can I fix and/or diagnose this error so I can get NuGet to work?
