  • Best practice No1: inline search layout across browsers

    - by Sixfoot Studio
Ok, I have managed to fix my version of this example using a multitude of hacks and I would like to see how others would tackle this problem making this cross-browser compatible without too many hacks. <div class="searchDiv"> <img src="Images/left.gif" class="left" height="19" width="3" /> <input id="TextBox" type="text" class="searchField" /> <img src="Images/right.gif" height="19"width="3" class="right" /> <a href="" class="submit">Submit</a> <img src="Images/box-arrow.gif" class="linkArrow" width="8" height="14" /> </div> I am using a Transitional DTD in my example. Based on the everyone else's CSS examples, comments and answers I will make the final vote. I'd love to see more of these scenarios come up so that people have a library of "best practice" methods which they can find on SO. Good luck

  • converting Date object to TimeWithZone

    - by avaynshtok
I need to convert a Date object into a TimeWithZone object representing the beginning of that day in a given time zone. The following approach works, but seems too convoluted as it requires me to convert the date to a string: ?> date = Date.parse("2010-02-17") => Wed, 17 Feb 2010 >> ActiveSupport::TimeZone['Eastern Time (US & Canada)'].parse(date.to_s) => Wed, 17 Feb 2010 00:00:00 EST -05:00 >> ActiveSupport::TimeZone['UTC'].parse(date.to_s) => Wed, 17 Feb 2010 00:00:00 UTC 00:00 Is there a better way I'm missing?

    - by Murtaza RC
    I have a main page from where I am making a call to "load" and intermediate page's HTML and on the completion of the load I am massaging the returned HTML to add a few DIVs etc, when I try to bind an onclick event for the dynamic Divs (added by me after the HTML returned from the intermediate page) it does not seem to work at all !: LOAD : $j(".loader").load(myURLtoIntermediatePage, '', function() { var HTML= '<div id="abcd">test</div>'; ... $j(".pageDIV").append(HTML); } DOCUMENT READY Function $j(document).ready(function() { $j('#abcd').onclick(function() { alert($j(this)); }); });

  • Text box creates gap when floated left in IE7

    - by Sixfoot Studio
    Hi, I've got a left rounded corner box - textbox - right rounded corner box which all make up part of a search box. All's well in FF, Chrome, IE8 but not IE7. I've checked it using the debug tool and and I have tried a number of options, none of which want to work at the moment, so I am hoping someone might know what this issue (bug) might be please? Here's a snippet of my code: <div class="roundBox4"> <img src="../App_Themes/MyChoice2010/Images/reality-box-top.gif" width="228" height="8" /><img src="../App_Themes/MyChoice2010/Images/reality-box-locate.gif" width="228" height="49" /> <asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="Box4Content" runat="server"> </asp:ContentPlaceHolder> <div class="locateABroker"> <img src="../App_Themes/MyChoice2010/Images/locate-broker-left.gif" class="locateBrokerLeft" height="19" width="3" /><asp:TextBox ID="TextBox1" CssClass="locateBrokerCenter" runat="server"></asp:TextBox><img src="../App_Themes/MyChoice2010/Images/locate-broker-right.gif" height="19" width="3" class="locateBrokerRight" /> <a href="" class="locateBrokerSubmit">Submit</a><img src="../App_Themes/MyChoice2010/Images/box-arrow.gif" class="linkArrow" width="8" height="14" /> </div>

  • Text rendering blurred in Firefox and Internet Explorer using jQuery

    - by Sixfoot Studio
Not sure what causes this? If I user slideDown in Firefox the text rendering cuts off the top of the letters before the animation is complete. This is ok in IE. If I then change the animation to use fadeIn instead, the blur does not happen in Firefox but the text is very jagged in IE. From another question I have asked in the past pertaining to animation, the guy told me that I should wrap that which I want to animate in another DIV and animate that instead. This sorted out the jerkiness caused by the padding on the content inside the .animateDiv. Is there a trick to the text rendering as well in jQuery

So, when I try to encode an image file into Base64 like this : InputStream fileInputStream = context.getContentResolver().openInputStream(uri); BufferedInputStream in = new BufferedInputStream(fileInputStream); StringWriter out = new StringWriter(); int b; while ((b = in.read()) != -1) out.write(b); out.flush(); out.close(); in.close(); String encoded = new String(android.util.Base64.encode(out.toString() .getBytes(), android.util.Base64.DEFAULT)); On server side, I make : $data=base64_decode(chunk_split($base64BinaryData)); The result is that my image file is corrupted! INFO : the image is made by an Intent to android.provider.MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE Activity in Emulator mode (avd 5554) I've already read lots of discussions about similar problem but nothing fix my bug. thanks for help Regards,

  • Does URL Shortening affect Page Ranking?

    - by rc
Recently there has been a lot of hype about URL Shortening. I guess some URL Shortening services even offer tracking stats. But, doesn't adding one more level of look-up to the original URL affect page ranking in any way? Just curious to know.

  • How to get date format in result set?

    - by Prasanna
I have a sql to get data form mysql their I used dateformat to convert date required format Here is the sql SELECT m.id, m.subject, m.body, m.read, m.hide, m.thread_id, DATE_FORMAT(m.sent_date, '%d-%b-%Y') sent_date, u.username to_name FROM messages m, users u WHERE u.school_id = m.school_id AND u.id = m.to_user_id AND m.school_id = 18 AND m.user_id = 53 AND m.status = 'sent' ORDER BY m.sent_date DESC When I run this sql directly in mysql it works fine, sent_date comes as (19-Apr-2010). When I excute this in ruby, in result set the sent_date is stores as (Tue Apr 20 00:00:00 UTC 2010) messages = Message.find_by_sql(sql) puts messages[0]['sent_date'] puts statement prints "Tue Apr 20 00:00:00 UTC 2010" how to get same date format in mysql result and ruby result set. • Infopath form publishing and root content type ?

    - by Steve B
Hi, I have several infopath 2010 form template that I want to publish to a form library in SharePoint 2010 Server with enterprise CaL. All of this forms have a common part (a template part actually). Is it possible to define a common "parent" content type of this forms ? In fact, I want : Form content type (SP OOB) My root form content type, with standard columns "requester", "process name", etc. Form 1 Form 2 etc. other unrelated form 1 other unrelated form 2 Instead of the standard behavior : Form content type (SP OOB) Form 1 Form 2 other unrelated form 1 other unrelated form 2 etc. Behind this question I want to be able to create a dashboard of all form request using a content query web, by simply specifying the content type ... One last word: the idea is to allow a customer (assuming its knowledge is limited to IP 2010 basic form design). So I can't accept answers like "extract files, use a text editor and hack the xsf file"... thx in advance

Does anyone know why this could be happening?

  • MySQL date query only returns one year, when multiple exist

    - by Bowman
I'm a part-time designer/developer with a part-time photography business. I've got a database of photos with various bits of metadata attached. I want to query the database and return a list of the years that photos were taken, and the quantity of photos that were taken in that year. In short, I want a list that looks like this: 2010 (35 photos) 2009 (67 photos) 2008 (48 photos) Here's the query I'm using: SELECT YEAR(date) AS year, COUNT(filename) as quantity FROM photos WHERE visible='1' GROUP BY 'year' ORDER BY 'year' DESC Instead of churning out all the possible years (the database includes photos from 2010-2008), this is the sole result: 2010 (35 photos) I've tried a lot of different syntax but at this point I'm giving in and asking for help!

  • How to model dependency injection in UML ?

    - by hjo1620
I have a Contract class. The contract is valid 1 Jan 2010 - 31 Dec 2010. It can be in state Active or Passive, depending on which date I ask the instance for it's state. ex. if I ask 4 July 2010, it's in state Active, but if I ask 1 Jan 2011, it's in state Passive. Instances are created using constructor dependency injection, i.e. they are either Active or Passive already when created, null is not allowed as a parameter for the internal state member. One initial/created vertex is drawn in UML. I have two arrows, leading out from the initial vertex, one leading to state Active and the other to state Passive. Is this a correct representation of dependency injection in UML ? This is related to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2779922/how-model-statemachine-when-state-is-dependent-on-a-function which initiated the question on how to model DI in general, in UML.

  • Should I use C++0x Features Now?

    - by svu2g
With the official release of VS 2010, is it safe for me to start using the partially-implemented C++0x feature set in my new code? The features that are of interest to me right now are both implemented by VC++ 2010 and recent versions of GCC. These are the only two that I have to support. In terms of the "safety" mentioned in the first sentence: can I start using these features (e.g., lambda functions) and still be guaranteed that my code will compile in 10 years on a compiler that properly conforms to C++0x when it is officially released? I guess I'm asking if there is any chance that VC++ 2010 or GCC will end up like VC++ 6; it was released before the language was officially standardized and consequently allowed grossly ill-formed code to compile. After all, Microsoft does say that "10 is the new 6". ;)

  • How to detect identical part(s) inside string?

    - by Horace Ho
I try to break down the http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2711961/decoding-algorithm-wanted question into smaller questions. This is Part I. Question: two strings: s1 and s2 part of s1 is identical to part of s2 space is separator how to extract the identical part(s)? example 1: s1 = "12 November 2010 - 1 visitor" s2 = "6 July 2010 - 100 visitors" the identical parts are "2010", "-", "1" and "visitor" example 2: s1 = "Welcome, John!" s2 = "Welcome, Peter!" the identical parts are "Welcome," and "!" • Creating a PHP call home "time bomb" to protect my interests

    - by RC
Hi everyone, I produced a PHP web app for a client some months back that is hosted on their own server. I have still not been paid for this work, and they are giving me the runaround. It turns out that I still have remote admin access to their server, so I can make code changes. What I was thinking of doing was to move the core kernel off-site onto one of my own servers, and program in some kind of callback or include that gets the kernel (critical functions) from my server. Give it two weeks or so for their backups to catch this change, and then pull the plug and exercise leverage. If I do this, they will pay immediately, because the site is a critical one for a very large and influential client of theirs. What is the most effective and easiest way of doing this? What code do I use? Thanks for any pointers.

  • Iterating dictionary indexes in django templates

    - by unclaimedbaggage
Hi folks...I have a dictionary with embedded objects, which looks something like this: notes = { 2009: [<Note: Test note>, <Note: Another test note>], 2010: [<Note: Third test note>, <Note: Fourth test note>], } I'm trying to access each of the note objects inside a django template, and having a helluva time navigating to them. In short, I'm not sure how to extract by index in django templating. Current template code is: <h3>Notes</h3> {% for year in notes %} {{ year }} # Works fine {% for note in notes.year %} {{ note }} # Returns blank {% endfor %} {% endfor %} If I replace {% for note in notes.year %} with {% for note in notes.2010 %} things work fine, but I need that '2010' to be dynamic. Any suggestions much appreciated.

  • MySQL - Selecting rows with a minimum number of occurences

    - by RC
Hi all, I have this query: SELECT DISTINCT brand_name FROM masterdata WHERE in_stock = '1' ORDER BY brand_name It works well, except that I get far too many results. How do I limit this such that rather than just looking for distinct entries, it will only give me distinct entries that exist a minimum of 3 times (for example)? Basically, if the column had this data... brand_name ========== apple banana apple apple orange banana orange orange ...my current query would return "apple, banana, orange". How do I get it such that it only returns "apple, orange" (ignoring banana because it has less than three occurrences)? I'm using PHP to build the query, if it matters. Thanks!
