  • Linq to SQL not inserting data onto the DB

    - by Jesus Rodriguez
Hello! I have a little / weird behaviour here and Im looking over internet and SO and I didn't find a response. I have to admit that this is my first time using databases, I know how to use them with SQL but never used it actually. Anyway, I have a problem with my app inserting data, I just created a very simple project for testing that and no solution yet. I have an example database with Sql Server Id - int (identity primary key) Name - nchar(10) (not null) The table is called "Person", simple as pie. I have this: static void Main(string[] args) { var db = new ExampleDBDataContext {Log = Console.Out}; var jesus = new Person {Name = "Jesus"}; db.Persons.InsertOnSubmit(jesus); db.SubmitChanges(); var query = from person in db.Persons select person; foreach (var p in query) { Console.WriteLine(p.Name); } } As you can see, nothing extrange. It show Jesus in the console. But if you see the table data, there is no data, just empty. I comment the object creation and insertion and the foreach doesn't print a thing (normal, there is no data in the database) The weird thing is that I created a row in the database manually and the Id was 2 and no 1 (Was the linq really playing with the database but it didn't create the row?) There is the log: INSERT INTO [dbo].Person VALUES (@p0) SELECT CONVERT(Int,SCOPE_IDENTITY()) AS [value] -- @p0: Input NChar (Size = 10; Prec = 0; Scale = 0) [Jesus] -- Context: SqlProvider(Sql2005) Model: AttributedMetaModel Build: 3.5.30729.4926 SELECT [t0].[Id], [t0].[Name] FROM [dbo].[Person] AS [t0] -- Context: SqlProvider(Sql2005) Model: AttributedMetaModel Build: 3.5.30729.4926 I am really confused, All the blogs / books use this kind of snippet to insert an element to a database. Thank you for helping.

So I want to be able to use jquery or similar to force all external links to be a. Opened in a new window (I think I have this covered From Here ) $(document).ready(function() { $('a[href^="http://"]').filter(function() { return this.hostname && this.hostname !== location.hostname; }).attr('target', '_blank'); }); b. Opened with a custom toolbar (iframe?) at the top (like the reddit toolbar imgur.com/76YCS.jpg )

  • How does IPrincipal gets its roles?

    - by abatishchev
I need to get know how SiteMapProvider.IsAccessibleToUser() works. Built-in XmlSiteMapProvider calls HttpContext.User.IsInRole() which uses System.Security.Principal.GenericPrincipal in case of forms authentication. Where does the current user gets its roles? Which provider loads this kind of information? I want to overload it and use custom logic.

  • Inline widget-like templates in MODx

    - by Christoffer
Hi, I'm developing my first ever MODx site and I need to have three blocks on the frontpage that contain headline, picture, image caption, long text and a short text. For these I would like to create a custom template that allows me to create sub-resources of "Home" with only these five fields (of which one will allow me to upload images). How can I set this up? Thanks!

  • Is it okay to programmatically create UITouch and UIEvent objects to emulate touch events?

    - by mystify
I want to simulate some touches on my UI, without using private API. So one simple way to do it is to simply call those -touchesBegan:withEvent:, -touchesMoved:withEvent:, -touchesEnded:WithEvent: and -touchesCancelled:withEvent: methods inside my custom controls. For that, I would have to create UITouch and UIEvent dummy objects with appropriate data inside. Is this fine with them? Or would they reject my app?

  • Modify code to change timestamp timezone in sitemap

    - by Aahan Krish
Below is the code from a plugin I use for sitemaps. I would like to know if there's a way to "enforce" a different timezone on all date variable and functions in it. If not, how do I modify the code to change the timestamp to reflect a different timezone? Say for example, to America/New_York timezone. Please look for date to quickly get to the appropriate code blocks. Code on Pastebin. <?php /** * @package XML_Sitemaps */ class WPSEO_Sitemaps { ..... /** * Build the root sitemap -- example.com/sitemap_index.xml -- which lists sub-sitemaps * for other content types. * * @todo lastmod for sitemaps? */ function build_root_map() { global $wpdb; $options = get_wpseo_options(); $this->sitemap = '<sitemapindex xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9">' . • When should one use the following: Amazon EC2, Google App Engine, Microsoft Azure and Salesforce.com

    - by vicky21
I am asking this in very general sense. Both from cloud provider and cloud consumer's perspective. Also the question is not for any specific kind of application (in fact the intention is to know which type of applications/domains can fit into which of the cloud slab -SaaS PaaS IaaS). My understanding so far is: IaaS: Raw Hardware (Processors, Networks, Storage). PaaS: OS, System Softwares, Development Framework, Virtual Machines. SaaS: Software Applications. It would be great if Stackoverflower's can share their understanding and experiences of cloud computing concept. EDIT: Ok, I will put it in more specific way - Amazon EC2: You don't have control over hardware layer. But you can take your choice of OS image, Dev Framework (.NET, J2EE, LAMP) and Application and put it on EC2 hardware. Can you deploy an applications built with Google App Engine or Azure on EC2? Google App Engine: You don't have control over hardware and OS and you get a specific Dev Framework to build your application. Can you take any existing Java or Python application and port it to GAE? Or vice versa, can applications that were built on GAE be taken out of GAE and ported to any Application Server like Websphere or Weblogic? Azure: You don't have control over hardware and OS and you get a specific Dev Framework to build your application. Can you take any existing .NET application and port it to Azure? Or vice versa, can applications that were built on Azure be taken out of Azure and ported to any Application Server like Biztalk?

  • Connecting to a WSE 3.0 Web Service From a WCF Client

    - by Dave
I'm having difficulty connecting to a 3rd party WSE 3.0 web service from a WCF client. I have implemented the custom binding class as indicated in this KB article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms734745.aspx The problem seems to have to do with the security assertion used by the web service - UsernameOverTransport. When I attempt to call a method, I get the following exception: System.InvalidOperationException: The 'WseHttpBinding'.'[namespace]' binding for the 'MyWebServiceSoap'.'[namespace]' contract is configured with an authentication mode that requires transport level integrity and confidentiality. However the transport cannot provide integrity and confidentiality.. It is expecting a username, password, and CN number. In the example code supplied to us by the vendor, these credentials are bundled in a Microsoft.Web.Services3.Security.Tokens.UsernameToken. Here's the example supplied by the vendor: MyWebServiceWse proxy = new MyWebServiceWse(); UsernameToken token = new UsernameToken("Username", "password", PasswordOption.SendPlainText); token.Id = "<supplied CN Number>"; proxy.SetClientCredential(token); proxy.SetPolicy(new Policy(new UsernameOverTransportAssertion(), new RequireActionHeaderAssertion())); MyObject mo = proxy.MyMethod(); This works fine from a 2.0 app w/ WSE 3.0 installed. Here is a snippet of the code from my WCF client: EndpointAddress address = new EndpointAddress(new Uri("<web service uri here>")); WseHttpBinding binding = new WseHttpBinding(); // This is the custom binding I created per the MS KB article binding.SecurityAssertion = WseSecurityAssertion.UsernameOverTransport; binding.EstablishSecurityContext = false; // Not sure about the value of either of these next two binding.RequireDerivedKeys = true; binding.MessageProtectionOrder = MessageProtectionOrder.SignBeforeEncrypt; MembershipServiceSoapClient proxy = new MembershipServiceSoapClient(binding, address); // This is where I believe the problem lies – I can’t seem to properly setup the security credentials the web service is expecting proxy.ClientCredentials.UserName.UserName = "username"; proxy.ClientCredentials.UserName.Password = "pwd"; // How do I supply the CN number? MyObject mo = proxy.MyMethod(); // this throws the exception I've scoured the web looking for an answer to this question. Some sources get me close (like the MS KB article), but I can't seem to get over the hump. Can someone help me out?

  • Problem adding subviews (UIButtons) to subclass of UIImageView

    - by samfu_1
I'm adding a custom button/keypad to my application. Thus far, I have a UIImageView subclass that contains an animation that slides it from the bottom of the screen, and then back down when the user no longer needs it. I'm having trouble adding UIButtons to this UIImageView, however. Since this is a subclass of UIView, I'm attempting to add buttons to my view via the initWithFrame: method. (slideDown method is the added animation) in my UIImageView Subclass, I have a UIButton ivar object added: -(id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame { if (self = [super initWithFrame: frame]) { UIButton *button = [UIButton buttonWithType: UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; button.frame = CGRectMake(16.0, 20.0, 50.0, 50.0); [button setTitle: @"Go" forState: UIControlStateNormal]; [button addTarget: self action: @selector(slideDown) forControlEvents: UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; self.button1 = button; [self addSubview: button1]; NSLog(@"Button added"); } return self; } In my view controller, I instantiate my UIIMageView Subclass in the -(void)viewDidLoad: method as follows: -(void)viewDidLoad { //other objects init'ed ButtonPad *customPad = [[ButtonPad alloc] initWithImage: [UIImage imageNamed: @"ButtonPad.png"]]; customPad.frame = CGRectMake(0.0, 480.0, 320.0, 300.0); self.buttonPad = customPad; [self.view addSubview: buttonPad]; [customPad release]; [super viewDidLoad]; } My current app allows the view to slide up and down off of the screen without any problems. However, the button never appears. I have also tried adding the button to my buttonPad object by instantiating & adding it as a subView to the buttonPad in my view controller file. This worked... but it didn't allow the button to function. I am wondering: A.) Is it appropriate to add buttons or any subview for that matter to the UIView initWithFrame: method or should I be adding these subviews as a subview to my buttonPad in the view Controller file? B.) Since I am creating a custom button/keypad, am i following a valid approach by using a normal UIViewController or should I be using something like a modal view Controller? ( I have little knowledge about these.)

  • NSTableView get rid blank space separating columns

    - by Matt S.
I have an NSTableView with 4 columns. I also have a custom background color for each row. The only problem is I have these ugly white spaces where the gridlines would go in both the horizontal and vertical axis. I have both unchecked in IB, but they still show up. How can I get rid of the vertical ones and change the color and size of the horizontal ones? Here's what I see:

  • Linking errors when building against Boost Unit Test Framework

    - by Rafid
I am trying to use Boost Unit Test Framework by building a stand alone library as detailed here: http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_35_0/libs/test/doc/components/utf/compilation.html So I created a VC library project containing the mentioned files and build it and it was successful. Then I created a test project and referenced the library project I just created, but when I tried to build it, I got the following linking errors: 1>Type.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "bool __cdecl boost::test_tools::tt_detail::check_impl(class boost::test_tools::predicate_result const &,class boost::unit_test::lazy_ostream const &,class boost::unit_test::basic_cstring<char const >,unsigned __int64,enum boost::test_tools::tt_detail::tool_level,enum boost::test_tools::tt_detail::check_type,unsigned __int64,...)" Any ideas?!

  • Android insertImage and the Gallery Application

    - by Steve Jones
I am adding a bmp file to the media store using the line below ContentResolver cr = getContentResolver(); Uri uri = Uri.parse(MediaStore.Images.Media.insertImage(cr, bmp, "name", "now")); I then go to the gallery application and it shows the image, but shows it under "Camera Pictures". Is there a way to change this to its own group, perhaps to its own group? Do I need a custom content provider for this? Thanks.

  • How do I debug a crash when I run my garbage-collected app in Rosetta?

    - by Rob Keniger
I have a Universal app which is targeting 10.5 and which uses garbage collection. I am building for ppc, i386 and x86_64. I don't have access to a physical PowerPC machine so I am trying to use Rosetta to confirm that the PowerPC portion of the app works correctly. However, as soon as the app is launched in Rosetta it immediately crashes with the following crash log: Process: FooApp [91567] Path: /Users/rob/Development/src/FooApp/build/Release 64-bit/FooApp.app/Contents/MacOS/FooApp Identifier: com.companyX.FooApp Version: 0.9 (build d540e05) (2) Code Type: PPC (Translated) Parent Process: launchd [708] Date/Time: 2010-04-09 18:32:23.962 +1000 OS Version: Mac OS X 10.6.3 (10D573) Report Version: 6 Exception Type: EXC_CRASH (SIGTRAP) Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000 Crashed Thread: 5 ...snip non-relevant threads... The app immediately breaks into the debugger upon launch: Program received signal SIGTRAP, Trace/breakpoint trap. [Switching to thread 15107] 0x9151fdd4 in auto_fatal () (gdb) bt #0 0x9151fdd4 in auto_fatal () #1 0x91536d84 in Auto::Thread::get_register_state () #2 0x915372f8 in Auto::Thread::scan_other_thread () #3 0x91529be4 in Auto::Zone::scan_registered_threads () #4 0x91539114 in Auto::MemoryScanner::scan_thread_ranges () #5 0x9153b000 in Auto::MemoryScanner::scan () #6 0x9153049c in Auto::Zone::collect () #7 0x915198f4 in auto_collect_internal () #8 0x9151a094 in auto_collection_work () #9 0x96687434 in _dispatch_call_block_and_release () #10 0x9668912c in _dispatch_queue_drain () #11 0x96689350 in _dispatch_queue_invoke () #12 0x966895c0 in _dispatch_worker_thread2 () #13 0x966896fc in _dispatch_worker_thread () #14 0x965a97e8 in _pthread_body () (gdb) I have no idea where to start with this. It looks like the Garbage Collector is failing very badly. Are garbage-collected PowerPC apps not supported in Rosetta? I can't see any mention of this limitation in the docs if so. Does anyone have any ideas?

  • Silverlight RichTextBox Disable Mouse Selection

    - by Fastidious
I am writing a custom control based on RichTextBox that needs the ability to process MouseLeftButtonDown events but must not allow user-initiated selection (I'm doing everything programmatically). I tried setting a flag in MouseLeftButtonDown to track dragging and then continuously setting the RichTextBox.Selection to nothing in the MouseMove event but the move event isn't fired until after I release the mouse button. Any ideas on how to solve this? Thanks.
