• How can I access and modify objects inside frames with AS3 in a permanent way?

  I have a MovieClip symbol created with flash in a fla file library. There is a textfield in frame one of this movieclip's timeline . There is another frame in the movieclip timeline. There is a custon class definition for this symbol. It is a flipping card in a memory game. I access the textfield by going to frame 2 (gotoAndStop(2)) and setting the textfield's text property ( this.field.text = "hello" ). However if I go to frame 1 and then return to frame 2, the text becomes the original one in the library's symbol. I have to modify the text propery again in a showFace method I've written. Besides, I cannot pass parameters in the constructor because it is a symbol in the library and that would give errors. I find this behaviour of flash extremely weird. Is there a way I can set properties inside frames permanently? Thank you

  I have managed to write several interpreters including Tokenizing Parsing, including more complicated expressions such as ((x+y)*z)/2 Building bytecode from syntax trees Actual bytecode execution What I didn't manage: Implementation of dictionaries/lists/arrays. I always got stuck with getting multiple values into one variable. My value structure (used for all values passed around, including variables) looks like this, for example: class Value { public: ValueType type; int integerValue; string stringValue; } Works fine with integers and strings, but how could I implement arrays? (From now on with array I mean arrays in my experimental language, not in C++) How can I fit the array concept into the Value class above? Is it possible? How should I make arrays able to be passed around just as you could pass around integers and strings in my language, using the class above? Accessing array elements or memory allocation wouldn't be the problem, I just don't know how to store them.

• How to synchronize threads in python?

  I have two threads in python (2.7). I start them at the beginning of my program. While they execute, my program reaches the end and exits, killing both of my threads before waiting for resolution. • Design issue with ATG CommercePipelineManager

  The definition of runProcess() method in PipelineManager is public PipelineResult runProcess(String pChainId, Object pParam) throws RunProcessException This gives me an impression that ANY object can be passed as the second param. However, ATG OOTB has PipelineManager component referring to CommercePipelineManager class which overrides the runProcess() method and downcast pParam to map and adds siteId to it. Basically, this enforces the client code to send only Map. Thus, if one needs to create a new pipeline chain, has to use map as data structure to pass on the data. Offcourse, one can always get around this by creating a new PipelineManager component, but I was just wondering the thought behind explicitly using map in CommercePipelineManager

• jQuery UI sortable issue

  When I try to use a sortable event . (For instance the stop() event) It only works when I bind it using : $('.selector').bind('sortstop', function(event, ui) { ... }); rather than $('.selector').sortable({ stop: function(event, ui) { ... } }); Is there a missing piece in this? The only reason I ask is because when I bind using the actual bind() method it's not giving me access to the event or ui parameters I pass in. I'm always returned undefined.

  Hello there, I'm learning lots of javascript these days, and one of the things I'm not quite understanding is passing functions as parameters to other functions. I get the concept of doing such things, but I myself can't come up with any situations where this would be ideal? My question is: When do you want to have your javascript functions take another function as a parameter? Why not just assign a variable to that functions return value and pass that variable to the function like so: // Why not do this var foo = doStuff(params); callerFunction(foo); //instead of this callerFunction(doStuff); I'm confused as to why I would ever choose to do things as in my second example. Why would you do this? What are the use cases? Thanks!!

• Scala downwards or decreasing for loop?

  In scala, you often use an iterator to do a for loop in an increasing order like: for(i <- 1 to 10){ code } How would you do it so it goes from 10 to 1? I guess 10 to 1 gives an empty iterator (like usual range mathematics)?   Hey guys, I want to use the argument I pass (this) in a JS function and treat it as an jQuery variable. Example: <script> function useMe(obj){ $(obj).val(); ... ... ... } </script> <select id="selectid" onChange="useMe(this)"> <option>......</option> </select> Is there a possibility to treat the passed argument as a jQuery element? Btw. I need to do it this way, because the select-element isn't created on load. The select element will be created later asynchronously. • Implicit declaration when using a function before it is defined in C, why can't the compiler figure this out?

  As the title says, I know what causes this error but I want to know why the compiler gives it in this circumstance. Eg : main.c void test(){ test1(); } void test1(){ ... } Would give an implicit declaration warning as the compiler would reach the call to test1() before it has read its declaration, I can see the obvious problems with this (not knowing return type etc), but why can't the compiler do a simple pass to get all function declarations, then compile the code removing these errors? It just seems so simple to do and I don't believe I've seen similar warnings in other languages. Does anyone know if there is a specific purpose for this warning in this situation that I am overlooking?

• Android: Width and Height of View After Orientation Change

  I need to get the width and height of a WebView and pass them in the query string of the URL I am loading in the WebView. I have found a way to do this in onResume(). Since the width and height are not calculated at this point, I post a Runnable to the WebView to be queued for after the UI loads. Here's my problem: when the orientation changes, I am handling it in onConfigurationChanged. When I try to post a Runnable in onConfigurationChanged to the WebView, the WebView's width and height end up being the old orientation's width and height. At what point can I intercept the new width and height after orientation change?

  Is it considered a bad practice to pass around a large string or object (lets say from an ajax response) between functions? Would it be beneficial in any way save the response in a variable and keep reusing that variable? So in the code it would be something like this: var response; $.post(url, function(resp){ response = resp; }) function doSomething() { // do something with the response here } vs $.post(url, function(resp){ doSomething(resp); }) function doSomething(resp) { // do something with the resp here } Assume resp is a large object or string and it can be passed around between multiple functions.

• Flex DataGrid reads a field from lastResult.node as number

  Why Flex 3 DataGrid reads a string from XML lastResult.node as number? A field is saved as var_char in mysql, php reads it as string and pass it OK. If there are more then 16 charaters it gets rounded.... For example: this in database cell: 12345678901234567 gets read in DataGrid as nubmer as 12345678901234568 this is in database cell: 5555544444222223333377777 php reads it same and puts it in XML flex reads XML into arrayCollection and DataGrid reads it as: 5.55554444422222e+24 So it reads it as number, why? And how to make it read as String? I tried with labelFunction, no help.

• Using CreateFileMapping between two programs - C

  Hello, I have two window form applications written in C, one holds a struct consisting of two integers, another will receive it using the CreateFileMapping. Although not directly related I want to have three events in place so each of the processes can "speak" to each other, one saying that the first program has something to pass to the second, one saying the first one has closed and another saying the second one has closed. What would be the best way about doing this exactly? I've looked at the MSDN entry for the CreateFileMapping operation but I'm still not sure as to how it should be done. I didn't want to start implementing it without having some sort of clear idea as to what I need to do. Thanks for your time.

  I'm looking to create a Visual Studio 2008 template that will create a basic project and based on remove certain files/folders based on options the user enters. Right now, I have followed some tutorials online which have let me create the form to query the user and pass the data into an IWizard class, but I don't know what to do from there.   I am developing a time management tool for my personal use. I prefer using keyboard over mouse, and on the interface have a general purpose text box which will act like a command line. I have just started thinking about what commands I need, what to use for the command names, how to pass in switches and parameters, and so forth. I wonder if some of you have come across a good read along these lines; something that describes the choices you have for designing a cli, and how those affect the complexity of the interpreter, and extendability of the commands. It makes no difference if the descriptions are language-specific or in general terms. However, my implementation will be with javascript. Thank you.

• mysql_close(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource

  Here's what I'm trying to do: I've got a db.php file that does all the db manipulation. It has 2 static methods, connect and deconnect. In my other file i simply use db::connect() and db::deconnect(). The mysql_close($con) in the deconnect method just doesn't know who $con is. Since I don't want to instantiate my class static is the only way to go. Declaring 'private $con' in class db doesn't seem to have an effect.   Hi there, I'm refactoring a big piece of code atm where a long taking operation is executed in a servlet. Now sometimes I don't get a response after the operation has finished. (It has finished because it is printed into the logs) What I wish to achieve would some "fire and forget" behavior by the servlet. I would pass my params to the action and the servlet would immediately return a status (something like: the operation has started, check your logs for further info) Is this possible with servlet 2.5 spec? I think I could get such a behavior with JMS maybe any other solutions out there?

• PHP code cannot see query string param on return in Facebook oAuth flow

  I am doing some integration with Facebook Open Graph using their oAuth flow and having issues with parsing query string parameters they return. On my callback URL, they pass back an "access_token" parameter with a hash (#). so the callback would be: http://mydomain.com/callback.php#access_token=foobar123 where foobar123 is my access token I'm trying to parse out. However, no matter what I do, my PHP code cannot see if and I've done every debug trick I know (even using phpinfo() to go through everything). The URL is stated only as http://mydomain.com/callback.php. It's as if the rest of the URL isn't really there! This code returns nothing: $token = $_REQUEST['access_token']; Any help would be greatly appreciated... I'm obviously missing something simple.
