• .htaccess add hidden php get variable for language selection

  I have a multiple language website, and I use a php get variable to set the cookie for the language setting. I have multiple subfolders (http://www.site.com/es and http://www.site.com/de) that each have a respective .htaccess file. When accessing these folders, the .htaccess file does this to "silently" redirect the user and add the appropriate php variable: ------- Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteEngine on RewriteOptions MaxRedirects=10 rewriterule ^http://www.site.com/es/$ http://www.site.com/?l=es [P,R=301] rewriterule ^(.*)$ http://www.site.com/$1?l=es [P,R=301] ------- When someone accesses the root directory: http://www.site.com, I want to add a ?l=en suffix "silently" to the url.   Hi, I can't get my generated classes to implements any interface. This is my xml schema file: xmlns:jxb="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jaxb/" xmlns:ai="http://jaxb.dev.java.net/plugin/if_insertion" jxb:extensionBindingPrefixes="ai" <xs:element name="header"> <xs:annotation> <xs:appinfo> <ai:interfaces check="1"> utility.RuleInterface </ai:interfaces> </xs:appinfo> </xs:annotation> <xs:complexType> bla bla bla </xs:complexType> I checked the "Extension" option in the JAXB options and I hav added the xjc-if-ins.jar to the "Libraries" section of my project Properties. • SOLRNET/SOLR Logging: Need to log specific information on whether a document is added or updated.

  Hi guys, I am having a big problem trying to find a logging option for our SOLR integration. Recently I have started using SOLRNET to add documents from the database in batches as previously we were just renewing the entire index every morning. So far this solution is working very well and is exactly what we wanted. However, I am in need of a solution that will log every document being added and can also differentiate between an "add" or an "update". It seems posting to solr handles it in a way where "if the document exists, overwrite it; If not then add" but in the catalina logfile this operations looks identical no matter what the scenario. My question is; Are there any logging solutions out there that can accomplish this, the current default logging options in solr that log to catalina are insufficient. Many thanks for any help.

• Grails and PermGen issue with g:link and g:render

  I've been running grails for sometime without any issues but recently after an upgrade to Grails 1.1.1, I've encountered the dreaded PermGen errors. Prior to the upgrade, no such issue. The error seems to be happening when the <g:link> and <g:render> tags are used in a GSP although I'm not sure it's indicative that this is the issue but more of the fact that it ran out of space when these tags were being rendered. Typically, everyone who encounters PermGen errors recommend increasing your java environment options -- but what maybe the source of the issue? Is it a Grails 1.1/hibernate/spring problem? • jQuery SlideDown Flickering in Firefox

  Hi, once more a jQuery, Firefox flickering issue. (no flickering in IE6/7/8, Safari) I uploaded an example page here: http://sithlord.bplaced.net/testing/jquery_flickering/flickering.html There are two div containers. The inner div is the one I'm hiding. The outer one is the wraping container with the style elements. I found the flicker only occur with the selectbox. Without the SelectBox there is no flickering. But thats not all: (I cant post a second hyperlink: its the same link as above; only change "flickering.html" to not_flickering.html) In this case I selected a lower "option" - as you can see, the flicker disappears in this case. The same is happending, when there are less options in total. (less then about 20) The only workaround I found is deleting the selectbox :) Any ideas, why this is happening and how to fix it? • Circular Dependency Solution

  Our current project has ran into a circular dependency issue. Our business logic assembly is using classes and static methods from our SharedLibrary assembly. The SharedLibrary contains a whole bunch of helper functions, such as a SQL Reader class, Enumerators, Global Variables, Error Handling, Logging and Validation. The SharedLibrary needs access to the Business objects, but the Business objects need access to SharedLibrary. The old developers solved this obvious code smell by replicating the functionality of the business objects in the shared library (very anti-DRY). I've spent a day now trying to read about my options to solve this but i'm hitting a dead end. I'm open to the idea of architecture redesign, but only as a last resort. So how can i have a Shared Helper Library which can access the business objects, with the business objects still accessing the Shared Helper Library?

• Application compiled by Flex Builder 3 does not trace

  I've built a simple application in Flex Builder 3 with some trace() calls. It's an "ActionScript Project", no MXML or AIR involved. I don't run the app from within Eclipse, I just open the generated html file with Firefox. I'm using the Flash Player 10 Debug version. I've correctly set mm.cnf to log trace output, following the official instructions. A flashlog.txt file is generate in the appropriate location. Despite all that, trace output is not shown in the log file. What am I doing wrong? (I suspect it's a compiler option, but I can find no such option in the project options in FlexBuilder) (If I do run the app from Eclipse, by pressing F11, I can see trace output but only inside Eclipse, not in the log file)

  I need to be able to check for a pattern with | in them. For example an expression like d*|*t should return true for a string like "dtest|test". • Does .NET Regex support global matching?

  I haven't been able to find anything online regarding this. There's RegexOptions, but it doesn't have Global as one of its options. The inline modifiers list also doesn't mention global matching. In a nutshell, I've got a regex to parse something like --arga= "arg1" --argb ="arg2" into separate argument name/value pairs using this regex: --(\\w+)\\s*=\\s*\"(\\w+)\"\\s* but the .NET Regex class doesn't do it globally (iteratively). So in order for me to get this to work, I'd have to do a match, then remove this from the argument string, and loop over and over again until I've exhausted all of the arguments. It would be nicer to run the regex once, and then loop over the match groups to get the name value pairs. Is this possible? What am I missing?

Duplicate resource(s): [Error] Type 10 (RCDATA), ID TFMMAINTQUOTE: [Error] File P:\[PATH SNIPPED]\Manufacturing.RES resource kept; file FMaintQuote.DFM resource discarded. Manufacturing.res is the default resource file (application is called Manufacturing.exe), and FMainQuote is one of the forms. .dfm files are plain text files, so I'm not sure what resources is being duplicated, how to find it and fix it? If I tried to compile the project again, it works OK, but the exe's icon is different to the one I've set in Project Options using the "Load Icon" button. The icon on the app is some sort of bell image that I don't recognize.

  We have a large homegrown ERP system written in Informix 4GL. Currently we are running on old Sun hardware, Solaris 8, and a ten year old version of 4GL and Informix. We need to move on, and one option obviously is to get the latest versions of 4GL & Informix, installed on new hardware (probably Linux/Intel). However I believe there are options for migrating 4GL programmes to other development platforms. Does anyone have experience of that? If so, what platforms, how did it go, what are the pros and cons?

  I have a 3rd-party protocol module (SNMP) that is built on top of asyncore. The asyncore interface is used to process response messages. What is the proper technique to design a client that generate the request-side of the protocol, while the asyncore main loop is running. I can think of two options right now: Use the loop,timeout parameters of asyncore.loop() to allow my client program time to send the appropriate request. Create a client asyncore dispatcher that will be executed in the same asyncore processing loop as the receiver. What is the best option? I'm working on the 2nd solution, cause the protocol API does not give me direct access to the asyncore parameters. Please correct me if I've misunderstood the proper technique for utilizing asyncore.

  I have seen interesting posts explaining subtleties about git reset. Unfortunately, the more I read about it, the more it appear that I don't understand it fully. I come from a SVN background and git is a whole new paradigm. I got mercurial easily, but git is much more technical. I think git reset is close to hg revert, but it seems there are differences. So what exactly does git reset do? Please include detailed explanations about: the options --hard, --soft and --merge; the strange notation you use with HEAD such as HEAD^ and HEAD~1; concrete use cases and workflows; consequences on the working copy, the HEAD and your global stress level.   I have a domain object, where I created a method to return a text color based on the internal state of the domain object. I have defined the colors in a color.xml file as resources. The problem I have now, is that I would like to return a Color object instead of a resource ID from the domain object method. This way I can set the text color of a TextView by just calling textView.setTextColor(domainObj.getTextColor()) since it expects a Color object and not a resource ID. Currently, in an Activity, I can call getResources().getColor(domainObj.getTextColorResource()) to convert a resource ID to a color, but I would like this done in the domain object and I am not sure how I would do this when I do not have access to the getResources method. Are there any cleaner options than passing in a Resource object into the method, or domain object? Thanks

  I have a C# application running on a server, and it needs to copy files out to multiple Windows Mobile 5.0 devices. These devices are connected to the network directly via Ethernet-enabled cradles (so they are not connected to a PC via ActiveSync). What different options do I have for doing this? I know RAPI can do this, but I'm not sure if it can copy something directly over the network like this. Also, I know RAPI uses ActiveSync DLLs and thus requires ActiveSync to be installed, and we would prefer to avoid doing this if possible. Is WMI a possibility? Can we use ordinary File.IO if we can somehow get the IP address of each device? Code samples or general knowledge would be most welcome.

I tried to add the context menu to the list so as to display some options for an item in the list. registerForContextMenu(getListView()); I used a MenuInflater object to inflate the context menu xml file. But on clicking the items in the list nothing shows up or the usual highlighting of the item of list on click isn't shown. Is it that the context menu doesn't work for custom list views? • Is there a standard Java utility to parse XSD files at runtime?

  I've been looking around for a way to programmatically parse XSD files to generate an XML mapping so that I can take any XSD file and create a parser that will parse any XML file that conforms to it, and my google-fu has been coming up short. XSOM looks promising, as it will parse an XSD file and make all its attributes available in a straight forward way. Are there any other options or standard libraries available that will produce an XML file parser from an XSD file? [Conclusion] Thanks everyone for your responses, they were a real help. I was able to write implementations using JAXP, Eclipses EMF and in XSOM that all worked as desired. JAXP was very straight forward and easy to learn and do. EMF was actually a pain to get going properly, there were so many jars that had to be included for it to work standalone that I would not recommend it. XSOM was even simpler than the JAXP implementation, so I went with it in the end.

• How to prevent a globally overridden "new" operator from being linked in from external library

  In our iPhone XCode 3.2.1 project, we're linking in 2 external static C++ libraries, libBlue.a and libGreen.a. libBlue.a globally overrides the "new" operator for it's own memory management. However, when we build our project, libGreen.a winds up using libBlue's new operator, which results in a crash (presumably because libBlue.a is making assumptions about the kinds of structures being allocated). Both libBlue.a and libGreen.a are provided by 3rd parties, so we can't change any of their source code or build options. When we remove libBlue.a from the project, libGreen.a doesn't have any issues. However, no amount of shuffling the linking order of the libraries seems to fix the problem, nor does any experimentation with the various linking flags. Is there some way to tell XCode to tell the linker to "have libGreen's use of the new operator use the standard C++ new operator rather than the one redefined by libBlue"?
