• How do I detect a connection break using MessageQueue

  My application written in C# makes use of the MessageQueue class in .NET for communicating messages with another remote application and the MessageQueue should always be "connected" (heartbeat present) with the remote messageQueue under all circumstances. If it is not "connected", then it signals that something is wrong and my application will need to perform some actions such as updating an event log. Is there a method in the MessageQueue class that can be used to detecting such breaks in connection?

  Hey, I've been building a silverlight application and a WCF service for a while now and recently tried to host them in IIS7. I installed IIS7 on Windows Server 2008 R2 and added these two application to my default website. I am having a number of problems so im hoping one of you can help out... 1) The silverlight and WCF service applications do not work with pass-through authentication. I need to "connect as" the administrator server account when setting up the application. I read online that you should only need to use the "connect as" field when you are connecting to another computer. If i dont supply the admin credentials i get this error. Do i have to set up permissions somewhere else? HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid.   I have a Item model that has embedded documents. Currently, the following comments_controller code will add a comment to the item successfully. For instance, on my local development machine there is no proxy. But in QA and Production the proxies are there and sometimes they provide more than one address. I don't need to know the groovy syntax. Just which methods get me the equivalent of the three different ways I ask for the ip above.

  Hi all, I have a very simple application with just 2 pages on WebLogic 10.3.2 (11g), Seam 2.2.0.GA. I have a command button in each, which makes a redirect-after-post to the other. This works well, as I see the URL of the current page I am seeing in the address bar. BUT, even though I have no long-running conversations defined, after a random number of clicks, and - I think - after a random number of seconds (~10s - 60s) I get the lovely exception at the end of this post. Now, if I have understood how temporary conversations work when redirecting this happens: When I first see my application, the url is http://localhost:7001/myapp When I click the button in pageA.xhtml, I end up in "pageB.xhtml?cid=26". This is normal because Seam extends the temporary conversation of the first request to last until the renderResponse phase of the redirect. So, it uses the cid (Conversation Id) of the extended temporary conversation to find any propagated parameters. When I click the button in pageB.xhtml, I end up in pageA.xhtml?cid=26 The same cid was given to the new extended temporary conversation. This is normal because the conversation ended at the end of the previous redirect-after-post, and not the number 26 is free to use as a cid. Is this all correct? If yes, why does this happen: If I re-type the applications home address (showing pageA) and re-click, I end up in pageB.xhtml?cid=29, which is a different number than 26. But 26 has ended after the previous RenderResponse phase, befire I re-types the url. Why is it not used instead of 29? So, to sup up, 2 questions: Why do I get the exception, even though I have not started any long-running conversations? What happens exactly with the cid? On what basis does it change? Cheers,

• Passing to service custom class instance in WCF

  Hi, I have my custom class Customer with its properties. I added DataContract mark above the class and DataMember to properties and it was working fine, but I'm calling a service class's function, passing customer instance as parameter and some of my properties get 0 values. While debugging I can see my properties values and after it gets to the function, some properties' values are 0. Why it can be so? There's no code between this two actions. DataContract mark workes fine, everything's ok. Any suggestions on this issue? I tried to change ByRef to ByVal, but it doesn't change anything. Why it would pass other values right and some of integer types just 0? Maybe the answer is simple, but I can't figure it out. • Loading an external SWF App in a new Air window with resize functionality

  Hello everyone, i'm trying to load a local SWF Application in my Air Application via the SWFLoader class. The SWFLoader class is displayed in a new Window. Therefore, i'm trying to resize the window automatically, when the Flash Application is resizing. But here's the problem. The SWFLoader does not get any events when the loader App has been resized. The Problem seems to be the Sandbox Restrictions. I'm able to call methods in the childSandboxBridge and parentSandboxBridge Objects that i've set in the LoaderInfo of the SWFLoaders content (the loaded SWF Application). But i cannot listen to any ResizeEvents or something like that when i'm resizing the loaded App. I'm aware of the workaround with the Loader Class and the codeExecution Property, but i don't want to bypass the Air Sandbox - if possible.   I am trying to share sessions between two web applications, both hosted on the same server. One is a .net 2.0 web forms application the other is as .net 3.5 MVC2 application. Both apps have their session set up like this: <sessionState mode="StateServer" stateConnectionString="tcpip=127.0.0.1:42424" /> In the webform application I am posting the the session key to the MVC app: protected void LinkButton1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { Session["myvariable"] = "dan"; string sessionKey = HttpContext.Current.Session.SessionID; //Followed by some code that posts sessionKey to the other application } I then recieve it in the MVC application and try use the same session like this: [HttpPost] public void Recieve(string sessionKey ) { var manager = new SessionIDManager(); bool redirected; bool IsAdded; manager.SaveSessionID(HttpContext.ApplicationInstance.Context, Id, out redirected, out IsAdded); var sessionKey = Session["myvariable"]; } The key is being posted but the session does not seem to get loaded in the MVC app, i.e. sessionKey is null. Can what I am trying to do be done?

  Hi, I have taken ownership of an application which is a .net win forms application which hosts a System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser. When the application launches it makes a http request to load a xap file. I immediately see "install silverlight" icon and on clicking get: "Microsoft Silverlight cannot be used in browsers running in 64 bit mode". The app was written initially on a 32 bit machine although I have a 64 bit machine. Any ideas what I need to tweak to get this running? JD

• .NET OwnerDraw ComboBox: Vista/7 themed DropDownList

  I'm working on a custom ComboBox for a project, and have the basic painting working. One of the remaining things to do is make it look like the default ComboBox in Vista and 7, when the DropDownStyle is set to DropDownList (looks like a button instead of a regular ComboBox). I read much about VisualStyleRenderer, read ComboBox.cs and ComboBoxRenderer.cs, and tried to get it working. It works in the sense of, it does something. It just doesn't do what it's supposed to do. I also found an article about Vista themed Owner-Drawn Buttons, but it is in C++ (which would be a challenge on its own for me) and it seems like an awful lot of code. If anyone could supply either VB or C# code, that would be great. Below is my current code. • Internationalized strings in Eclipse plugin.xml file are not found when installed in Eclipse applica

  Hi, I have created 2 plugins, implementing an ODA driver plugin and its UI plugin for the BIRT extension to Eclipse. My plugins both work as expected when eclipse starts up another eclipse application where I can then test the plugins I am developing. However, when I install my plugins into an Eclipse application and then start it from a Windows shortcut, the plugins work but and language keys specified in the plugin.xml files are not found. For example, in my plugin.xml file for the ODA Driver plugin I set the attributes 'id' to '%oda.data.source.id' and the data source 'defaultDisplayName' to '%data.source.name'. I then, in a file 'language.properties', have defined the values for both of these keys (where the keys don't have the preceeding % character). When running the plugins that have been installed into the dropins/plugins directory of an Eclipse application, the wizard for creating my ODA data source names is as '%data.source.name' and saves the data source in the rptdesign (XML) file with an ID of '%oda.data.source.id'. Since 'language' is not the default name for the properties file I went into the manifest for both plugins and changed the 'Bundle-Localization' attribute to 'language'. The language file is located in the root directory of both of my plugins. The properties file is definitely found, since I use the two language files to store other strings used by the plugins, looked up using a java ResourceBundle. The strings are always found whether the plugins are run from Eclipse application loading another, or when properly installed in the dropins/plugins directory of an Eclipse application. Why are the installed plugins not finding language keys reference in the plugin.xml files? There are not errors in the logs and the language.properties files are clearly accessible...   I've got a cell array of empty cells and ones that I want to convert to a logical array, where the empty cells are zeros. When I use cell2mat, the empty cells are ignored, and I end up with a matrix of solely 1's, with no reference to the previous index they held. Is there a way to perform this operation without using loops? Example code: for n=1:5 %generate sample cell array mycellarray{n}=1; end mycellarray{2}=[] %remove one value for testing Things I've tried: mylogicalarray=logical(cell2mat(mycellarray)); which results in [1,1,1,1], not [1,0,1,1,1]. for n=1:length(mycellarray) if isempty(mycellarray{n}) mycellarray{n}=0; end end mylogicalarray=logical(cell2mat(mycellarray)); which works, but uses loops.

• Multiple ClickOnce applications associated with the same file type

  I have multiple .Net applications that read the same file type, but when deployed with ClickOnce, the file association in Windows is made to "ClickOnce Application Deployment Support Library", which is what actually launches the program. But once the first .Net application is installed on the workstation, subsequent applications can't be selected in the "Open With" menu, and "ClickOnce Application Deployment Support Library" won't give the user a choice, either. How can I associate multiple ClickOnce-published applications to the same file type so the user can pick between them?

• PHP to C/C++ through CGI script

  Hi guys! I realize it's probably something strange, but here is what I have. I have an application (handwriting recognition engine) written in C/C++. This application has Perl wrapper which was made by application's authors using SWIG. My website is written in PHP, so I'm looking for some ways to make PHP work with C/C++ application. The only way I can think of now is to create a CGI script (perl script) which accepts POST request from my website (AJAX request), sends it to the recognition engine through it's Perl wrapper, gets the required data and returns the required data as a response to AJAX request. Do you think it could be done this way? Are there any better solutions? Thank you!

• How do I handle nils in views?

  I have the following models set up: class Contact < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :band belongs_to :mode validates_presence_of :call, :mode validates_associated :mode, :band validates_presence_of :band, :if => :no_freq? validates_presence_of :freq, :if => :no_band? protected def no_freq? freq.nil? end def no_band? band.nil? end end class Band < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :logs end class Mode < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :logs end When I enter a frequency on my new view it allows for no band to be specified if a freq is entered. This creates a problem in my other views though because band is now nil. How do I allow for band not to be specified and just show up as empty on my index and show views, and then in the edit view allow one to be specified at a later point in time. I have been able to get my index to display a blank by doing: contact.band && contact.band.name But I'm not sure if this is a best approach, and I'm unsure of how to apply a similar solution to my other views. • [Cocoa] NSTableView bound to NSArrayController

  Within Interface Builder I've got an NSTableView with two columns bound to a vanilla NSArrayController. The NSArrayController has its Content Array bound to an NSMutableArray in my application delegate. I've used further bindings to setup the addition and removal of rows via bindings (magic!). The issue I'm running into now is that I'd like to grab the currently selected NSTableView row and use its index to look-up the object stored in my NSArrayControllers associated array. The problem I'm running into is trying to access the NSTableView. Within my application delegate, using the following code will cause my application to crash: NSLog(@"%@", [timersTableView selectedRow]); Similarly, this also causes my application to crash: NSLog(@"%@", [timersController selectionIndex]); Given the simplicity of the code above, I must be doing something fundamentally wrong?
