    I want to upgrade my Mac Snow Leopard ruby from 1.8.7 to 1.9.1 version, anyone know the painless and best way to upgrade? because i read some forum/post/blog/discussion say that is it not good to override the ruby that ship by apple and what the best way to upgrade rails from version 2.2.2 to 2.3.8? because all the information that i find either is for leopard/tiger only & few complicate article for snow leopard. and they also say is it not good to override the rails that ship by apple. anyone can help me?     I am currently working on ClearCase and now migrating to GIT. But we need this migration in a way that all work will be done in GIT and the data will be synced backed to ClearCase stream. We will have the same branch names and stream names in both GIT and CC, so scripting shouldn't be a problem. The problem here is, Can someone suggest which is the best model to sync CC and GIT Have all the Vobs in CC as single repo in GIT, and have the major stream in CC as various branches in GIT. - Single GIT repo (VOBS) and many branches (CC streams). - This takes up less space as VOBs are kept as single repo with many branches. Have important CC branches as independent GIT repositories and each repository having all the CC VOBs. - Many GIT repo for many CC branch - This will take up lots of space as VOBs will be replicated across. Which do you think is the best way to keep it in sync with ClearCase

  • Run groovy script from within gradle

    What's the best way to create a gradle task, which runs a groovy script? I realize that gradle build files are groovy, so I would think it would be possible to do something like this: task run << { Script app = new GroovyShell().parse(new File("examples/foo.groovy")) // or replace .parse() w/ a .evalulate()? app.run() } I get all kinds of whacky errors when I try this if bar.groovy is using @Grab annotations or even doing simple imports. I want to create a gradle task to handle this, so that I can hopefully reuse the classpath definition. Would it be better to move the examples directory into the src directory somewhere? What's a best practice?

    I am developing a WCF service that receives the user's credentials in the SOAP header. These credentials are read on the server side using a MessageInspector. So far so good. I want to set the Thread.CurrentPrincipal to a custom principal (CustomPrincipal), but when I do this from the MessageInspector, it gets overridden by the time the service is invoked. When is the best time to set the principal? Also what is the best way to pass the principal, identity or credentials from the inspector to that location?

But in TD(1) I think update rule will be: Q(t-2) = (1-alpha) * Q(t-2) + (alpha) * (Reward(t-2) + gamma * Reward(t-1) + gamma * gamma * Max( Q(t) ) ) My question: The term gamma * Reward(t-1) means that I will always take my best action at t-1 .. which I think will prevent exploring..   • Maven: Unofficial artifact naming scheme?

    I'm creating some Maven artifacts for various dependencies for our projects, and while I'm taking my best guess at group / artifact IDs, I'd like to add something to flag them as "unofficial" and created by us for compilation, so that should we find official sources for the same thing in the future there's no confusion and we can simply change to point to the identifiers. Is there a best/common/reccomended practice for doing so? I was just thinking something like setting groupId="org.providername.unofficial", but since Maven's all about "doing it our way" I just want to see if there's a precedent for something different already...

    I have various classes which all contain address details, i.e. AddressLine1, AddressLine2, AddressLine3, Suburb, Town, etc. On the front end, I need to format the address in a particular way, i.e. AddressLine1<br /> AddressLine2<br /> Suburb State Postcode If AddressLine2 does not exist or empty, don't show it. Quite straight-forward. I am trying to determine the best way to show this info. At the moment, the Address property of each class calls a FormatAddress method which writes out the html string. This exists as a method of the class. My opinion is that any formatting should exist from the front-end control i.e. ascx etc. However, if these DetailClasses need to format the same address info, what would be the best option, also making it easier to maintain?

But when I read the answers to the question "Most useful free Java libraries?" I noticed that trove is hardly mentioned. So which Java Collections library is best now? UPDATE: To clarify, I mostly want to know what library to use when I have to store millions of entries in a hash table etc. (need a small runtime and memory footprint).

  • How to structure controller to sort multiple criteria asp.net mvc

    Hi, What's the best way to set up a controller to sort by many (possibly null) criteria? Say for example, I was building a site that sold cars. My CarController has a function Index() which returns an IList of cars to the view, and details on each car are rendered with a partial view. What's the best way to structure this? Especially if there are a lot of criteria: Car Type (aka SUV), Car Brand, Car Model, Car Year, Car Price, Car Color, bool IsNew, or if I want to sort by closest to me etc... I'm using NHibernate as my ORM. Should I have just a ton of possible NHibernate queries and figure out which one to choose based on if/then's in the controller? Or is there a simpler way.     I'm creating an iphone application. I have this UIView whose content is clipped with a path. I want to add shading and/or shadow to it. What's the best way to do this? For shadow, I tried CGContextSetShadow() but it doesn't seem to have an effect (perhaps it's drawing outside the shown region?) . How about shading? I want it to appear along the path. What's the best way to go about it? Is it to create another narrow clip strip along the original clipping path (if it's possible to have two clip path... ) Or does this need to be done in another CALayer? I am not even sure what that is yet.

    I've injected myself into a Qt application, and I'm attempting to figure out what signals a given slot is connected to, but can't find any information on doing this. Is there a mechanism for doing this out of the box? If so, is this exposed to QtScript? (If not, I can wrap it easily enough.) If there is no such mechanism, what would be the best way to add it? I cannot manipulate the existing application outside of simple hooking, but I could hook QObject::connect and store the connections myself, just not sure if that's the best way to go about it.

    I have an open source VSPackage that I would like to release with support for Visual Studio 2005, Visual Studio 2008, and Visual Studio 2010. I'm trying to figure out how to create the installer and how to perform the package registration with each edition of Visual Studio. The deployment research I've done indicates my best bet for an installer is a VSIX inside an MSI. The registration research I've done is a lot less clear. VSPackage registration seems to differ for every edition (VS2005 uses regpkg, VS2008 uses pkgdef, VS2010 uses VSIX). Can anyone share their experiences and/or point me towards any information about the best approach for targeting multiple versions of Visual Studio? I'm looking for the easiest implementation and preferably keeping it in a single installer if reasonably feasible. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    What's a simple and canonical way to read an entire file into memory in Scala? (Ideally, with control over character encoding.) The best I can come up with is: scala.io.Source.fromPath("file.txt").getLines.reduceLeft(_+_) or am I supposed to use one of Java's god-awful idioms, the best of which (without using an external library) seems to be: import java.util.Scanner import java.io.File new Scanner(new File("file.txt")).useDelimiter("\\Z").next() From reading mailing list discussions, it's not clear to me that scala.io.Source is even supposed to be the canonical I/O library. I don't understand what its intended purpose is, exactly. ... I'd like something dead-simple and easy to remember. For example, in these languages it's very hard to forget the idiom ...   • Testing complex entities

    I've got a C# form, with various controls on it. The form controls an ongoing process, and there are many, many aspects that need to be right for the program to run correctly. Each part can be unit tested (for instance, loading some coefficients, drawing some diagnostics) but I often run into problems that are best described with an example: "If I click here, then here, then change this, then re-open the form, then click here, it crashes or produces an error" I've tried my best to use common code organisational ideas (inheritance, DRY, separation of concerns) but there never seems to be a way to test every single path, and inevitably, a form with several controls will have a huge number of ways to execute. What can I read (preferably online) that addresses this kind of issue, and is there a (non-generic) term for it. This isn't a specific problem I'm having, but one that creeps up on me, especially with WinForms.
