  • Multidimensional Array with different types in java

    - by Christian
I want to store a data structure thats a table with one column Strings and another column of Ints. List<Entry<String, Integer>> li = new LinkedList<Entry<String, Integer>>(); would do the job for a list but I would rather have the performance of an array. I tried Entry<String, Integer>[] = new Entry<String, Integer>[10]; but that doesn't seem to work.

  • Kohonen SOM Maps in R Tutorial

    - by Btibert3
Hi Everyone, I am simply looking for a good tutorial that will walk me through how to create a SOM in R. I am reading Kohonen and Kaski's paper on using the maps to identify the structure of Welfare, and want to try the technique my self. I think many of the examples in R have a lot to be desired. I have looked on the web and didn't find anything that I thought made the process easy to understand. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

  • My Website was hacked using Statcounter! Does Statcounter keep a record of cookies?

    - by Cyril Gupta
I had a rather interesting case of hacking on my ASP.Net MVC website. For this website I had implemented a rather uncomplicated authentication system for my admin area -- an encrypted cookie which had an identifying signature for the member. Whenever the admin visits the website the cookie would be decrypted and signature verified. If matching he wouldn't have to sign in. Couple of days ago a visitor on my site told me that he was able to sign into my website simply by clicking no a referral link on his Statcounter console which pointed to my admin area (I had visited his site from a link inside my admin view). He just clicked on a link in statcounter and he was signed in as the admin! The only way this could have happened was if statcounter somehow recorded my cookies and used those when he clicked on the link pointing to my admin! Is that logical or fathomable? I don't understand what's going on. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can protect my website against things like this?

  • CakePHP: email validate action doesn't work when clicking on the email link

    - by bakerjr
Hi, We've created the email validation part of our site. We built the site using CakePHP BTW. The problem is that it doesn't work when we click on the link in the email. The email is sent as plain text. A weird thing is that when we paste the link on the address bar, it works. Also when clicking on the link using Gmail and desktop email clients, it works as well. Other email providers doesn't work. EDIT: Additional info: Example link for the validation: http://localhost/users/validate/validatecodeblah12c023 When it's working it should login the user and redirect to the user dashboard. It goes to the front page when it's not working (see description above). Additional info 2: I did compare the results using Live HTTP headers and I found out that the only time it doesn't push through (goes to the login page for some reason) is when there's a 'Referrer: h ttp://mail.yahooblahblah...' Gmail for some reason doesn't have a 'Referer' line in it's headers.

  • Very odd build problem

    - by user144182
When I build my solution, it complains about a missing referenced DLL. When I rebuild it, the problem goes away. Whenever I do a clean this returns, i.e. have to attempt a build twice before it succeeds. This is vague, but if warranted I can give a better explanation of solution structure.

  • Extract part of a git repository?

    - by Riobard
Assume my git repository has the following structure: /.git /Project /Project/SubProject-0 /Project/SubProject-1 /Project/SubProject-2 and the repository has quite some commits. Now one of the subprojects (SubProject-0) grows pretty big, and I want to take SubProject-0 out and set it up as a standalone project. Is it possible to extract all the commit history involving SubProject-0 from the parent git repository and move it to a new one?

  • How to avoid chaotic ASP.NET web application deployment?

    - by emzero
Ok, so here's the thing. I'm developing an existing (it started being an ASP classic app, so you can imagine :P) web application under ASP.NET 4.0 and SQLServer 2005. We are 4 developers using local instances of SQL Server 2005 Express, having the source-code and the Visual Studio database project This webapp has several "universes" (that's how we call it). Every universe has its own database (currently on the same server) but they all share the same schema (tables, sprocs, etc) and the same source/site code. So manually deploying is really annoying, because I have to deploy the source code and then run the sql scripts manually on each database. I know that manual deploying can cause problems, so I'm looking for a way of automating it. We've recently created a Visual Studio Database Project to manage the schema and generate the diff-schema scripts with different targets. I don't have idea how to put the pieces together I would like to: Have a way to make a "sync" deploy to a target server (thanksfully I have full RDC access to the servers so I can install things if required). With "sync" deploy I mean that I don't want to fully deploy the whole application, because it has lots of files and I just want to deploy those new or changed. Generate diff-sql update scripts for every database target and combine it to just 1 script. For this I should have some list of the databases names somewhere. Copy the site files and executing the generated sql script in an easy and automated way. I've read about MSBuild, MS WebDeploy, NAnt, etc. But I don't really know where to start and I really want to get rid of this manual deploy. If there is a better and easier way of doing it than what I enumerated, I'll be pleased to read your option. I know this is not a very specific question but I've googled a lot about it and it seems I cannot figure out how to do it. I've never used any automation tool to deploy. Any help will be really appreciated, Thank you all, Regards

  • Java - Common Gotchas

    - by Alan
In the same spirit of other platforms, it seemed logical to follow up with this question: What are common non-obvious mistakes in Java? Things that seem like they ought to work, but don't. I won't give guidelines as to how to structure answers, or what's "too easy" to be considered a gotcha, since that's what the voting is for. See also: Perl - Common gotchas .NET - Common gotchas

  • Hash Map Usage and Idea

    - by Anand
Hi, I have been working in Java for the last 6 months and have been using Hash Maps What is the basic idea of a Hash Map ? I am using it as it easy for me to store so much data with direct key references rather than having to iterate through an arraylist ? Where is the power of Hash Map seen ? What is the scientific idea behind this data structure ?

  • Checking if subfolders exist linux

    - by laura
I'm trying to check if a folder has any subfolders without iterating through its children, in Linux. The closest I've found so far is using ftw and stopping at the first subfolder - or using scandir and filtering through the results. Both, are, however, an overkill for my purposes, I simply want a yes/no. On Windows, this is done by calling SHGetFileInfo and then testing dwAttributes & SFGAO_HASSUBFOLDER on the returned structure. Is there such an option on Linux?

  • Trouble with LINQ databind to GridView and RowDataBound

    - by Michael
Greetings all, I am working on redesigning my personal Web site using VS 2008 and have chosen to use LINQ to create by data-access layer. Part of my site will be a little app to help manage my budget better. My first LINQ query does successfully execute and display in a GridView, but when I try to use a RowDataBound event to work with the results and refine them a bit, I get the error: The type or namespace name 'var' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) This interesting part is, if I just try to put in a var s = "s"; anywhere else in the same file, I get the same error too. If I go to other files in the web project, var s = "s"; compiles fine. Here is the LINQ Query call: public static IQueryable pubGetRecentTransactions(int param_accountid) { clsDataContext db; db = new clsDataContext(); var query = from d in db.tblMoneyTransactions join p in db.tblMoneyTransactions on d.iParentTransID equals p.iTransID into dp from p in dp.DefaultIfEmpty() where d.iAccountID == param_accountid orderby d.dtTransDate descending, d.iTransID ascending select new { d.iTransID, d.dtTransDate, sTransDesc = p != null ? p.sTransDesc : d.sTransDesc, d.sTransMemo, d.mTransAmt, d.iCheckNum, d.iParentTransID, d.iReconciled, d.bIsTransfer }; return query; } protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (!this.IsPostBack) { this.prvLoadData(); } } internal void prvLoadData() { prvCtlGridTransactions.DataSource = clsMoneyTransactions.pubGetRecentTransactions(2); prvCtlGridTransactions.DataBind(); } protected void prvCtlGridTransactions_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e) { if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow) { var datarow = e.Row.DataItem; var s = "s"; e.Row.Cells[0].Text = datarow.dtTransDate.ToShortDateString(); e.Row.Cells[1].Text = datarow.sTransDesc; e.Row.Cells[2].Text = datarow.mTransAmt.ToString("c"); e.Row.Cells[3].Text = datarow.iReconciled.ToString(); }//end if }//end RowDataBound My googling to date hasn't found a good answer, so I turn it over to this trusted community. I appreciate your time in assisting me.

  • Parsing RSS2 In PHP

    - by mrduclaw
I'm trying to get content from an RSS2 feed from one of my sites and use it in another site. The feed is here. And the code I'm using is taken from this nice site and has been modified like the following: $doc = new DOMDocument(); $doc->load('http://tripleax.com/john/?feed=rss2'); $arrFeeds = array(); foreach ($doc->getElementsByTagName('item') as $node) { print('<div style="width:100%" class="option"><strong>'); $a = $node->getElementsByTagName('title')->item(0)->nodeValue; print("$a"); print('</strong><br /><span class="option">'); $a = $node->getElementsByTagName('description')->item(0)->nodeValue; print("$a");` } The problem I'm having is, I want to display the entire post's contents. And the description is a sort of the teaser. Changing $node->getElementsByTagName('description')->item(0)->nodeValue to $node->getElementsByTagName('content')->item(0)->nodeValue gives me nothing, and content:encoded is no better. Can someone please point me in the right direction to solving this? Thanks!

  • Loop with a while

    - by ookla
Very basic question.. but I'm missing the point.. I have this data on my table: ID SITEID SECTION 1 1 posts 2 2 posts 3 1 aboutme 4 1 contact 5 2 questions The output is an array. I can't change it. I want to make this output on php with a single for loop with that array: <h1> sections for site 1 </h1> posts aboutme contact <h1>sections for site 2 </h1> posts questions I'm trying to do something like this, where $sectionsArray is my output. And I want to check if siteid is the same, then make a loop.. for ($j=0;$j<sizeof($sectionsArray);$j++) { while (siteid==1){ echo "<h1>'.$sectionsArray['siteid'].'</h1>'; } echo "<A href='section.php?id='.$sectionsArray['id'].' '">'.$sectionsArray['section'].'</a>; } But I don't get the logic of "grouping" the results with a while.. INSIDE a loop. Any light will be welcome. Thanks

  • LINQ: Create persistable Associations in Code, Without Foreign Key

    - by Alex
Hello, I know that I can create LINQ Associations without a Foreign Key. The problem is, I've been doing this by adding the [Association] attribute in the DBML file (same as through the designer), which will get erased again after I refresh my database (and reload the entire table structure). I know that there is the MyData.cs file (as part of the DBML) in which I can place my partial extensions etc. to domain objects (to persist even after I refresh the DBML), but I don't know how to create an association there?

  • Can Spotlight index a MacFUSE filesystem?

    - by tdavies
Spotlight indexes at the file level, so a file containing a complicated data structure may need to be split into a set of files for Spotlight to index it in a useful way. Can you use MacFUSE to achieve this more dynamically? Will Spotlight index a MacFUSE volume? Can MacFUSE handle the necessary per-file metadata? Can a MacFUSE process notify Spotlight when attributes of a file change?

  • What is a good software development plan?

    - by Totophil
Whilst browsing through answers on SO I came across something that is, in my view, one of the more frequent software development management misconceptions: "[software development] plan is a reasonably detailed description of all the activities you need to undertake". Hence the question: what is good software development plan? Can it be boiled down just to a work breakdown structure; is WBS the single most important thing for a software development plan anyway?

  • R plot- SGAM plot counts vs. time - how do I get dates on the x-axis?

    - by Nate
    I'd like to plot this vs. time, with the actual dates (years actually, 1997,1998...2010). The dates are in a raw format, ala SAS, days since 1960 (hence as.date conversion). If I convert the dates using as.date to variable x, and do the GAM plot, I get an error. It works fine with the raw day numbers. But I want the plot to display the years (data are not equally spaced). structure(list(site = c(928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L, 928L), date = c(13493L, 13534L, 13566L, 13611L, 13723L, 13752L, 13804L, 13837L, 13927L, 14028L, 14082L, 14122L, 14150L, 14182L, 14199L, 16198L, 16279L, 16607L, 16945L, 17545L, 17650L, 17743L, 17868L, 17941L, 18017L, 18092L), y = c(7L, 7L, 17L, 18L, 17L, 17L, 10L, 3L, 17L, 24L, 11L, 5L, 5L, 3L, 5L, 14L, 2L, 9L, 9L, 4L, 7L, 6L, 1L, 0L, 5L, 0L)), .Names = c("site", "date", "y"), class = "data.frame", row.names = c(NA, -26L)) sgam1 <- gam(sites$y ~ s(sites$date)) sgam <- predict(sgam1, se=TRUE) plot(sites$date,sites$y,xaxt="n", xlab='Time', ylab='Counts') x<-as.Date(sites$date, origin="1960-01-01") axis(1, at=1:26,labels=x) lines(sites$date,sgam$fit, lty = 1) lines(sites$date,sgam$fit + 1.96* sgam$se, lty = 2) lines(sites$date,sgam$fit - 1.96* sgam$se, lty = 2) ggplot2 has a solution (it doesn't mind the as.date thing) but it gives me other problems...
