  Oracle Secure Global Desktop provides secure access to centralized applications—Microsoft Windows, UNIX, mainframe, and midrange—from a wide variety of popular client devices, including Windows PCs, Oracle Solaris workstations, Linux PCs, and thin clients. Secure Global Desktop is certified for use with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and 2008 virtualized environments acting as desktop clients connecting to Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 environments.  32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows Server are certified. These combinations may also be used in conjunction with Oracle VM, if required. How does this work? Dilbert Humor This was very first encounter with database humor and I started to love it. It does not matter how many time we read this cartoon it does not get old. Generate Script with Data from Database – Database Publishing Wizard Generating schema script with data is one of the most frequently performed tasks among SQL Server Data Professionals. There are many ways to do the same. In the above article I demonstrated that how we can use the Database Publishing Wizard to accomplish the same. This function accesses data from a subsequent row (for lead) and previous row (for lag) in the same result set without the use of a self-join .   If you are developing MS MPI applications with Visual Studio 2010, you are probably tired of following some tedious steps for every new C++ project that you create, similar to the following:1. In Solution Explorer, right-click YourProjectName, then click Properties to open the Property Pages dialog box.2. Expand Configuration Properties and then under VC++ Directories place the cursor at the beginning of the list that appears in the Include Directories text box and then specify the location of the MS MPI C header files, followed by a semicolon, e.g.C:\Program Files\Microsoft HPC Pack 2008 SDK\Include;3. Still under Configuration Properties and under VC++ Directories place the cursor at the beginning of the list that appears in the Library Directories text box and then specify the location of the Microsoft HPC Pack 2008 SDK library file, followed by a semicolon, e.g.if you want to build/debug 32bit application:C:\Program Files\Microsoft HPC Pack 2008 SDK\Lib\i386;if you want to build/debug 64bit application:C:\Program Files\Microsoft HPC Pack 2008 SDK\Lib\amd64;4.   Size of the database is growing every day. Many organizations now a days have more than TB of the Data in their system. Performance is always part of the issue. Microsoft is really paying attention to the same and also focusing on improving performance for Data Warehousing. Microsoft has recently released whitepaper on the performance tuning subject of Data Warehousing. Here is the abstract about the whitepaper from official site: In this white paper we discuss two of the new features introduced in SQL Server 2008, Star Join and Few-Outer-Row optimizations. These two features are in SQL Server 2008 R2 as well.  We test the performance of SQL Server 2008 on a set of complex data warehouse queries designed to highlight the effect of these two features and observed a significant performance gain over SQL Server 2005 (without these two features). The results observed also apply to SQL Server 2008 R2.  On average, about 75 percent of the query execution time has been reduced, compared to SQL Server 2005. We also include data that shows a reduction in the number of rows processed and improved balance in parallel queries, both of which highlight the important role the Star Join and Few Outer-Row features played. • MVVM Light V4.1 with support for Windows Phone 8

  Today is a very exciting day: After the official release of Windows 8 (and Microsoft Surface!) on Friday, and the official release of Windows Phone 8 on Monday, the Build conference is starting! This is the conference in which we will learn all about the developer experience for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. As a partner of Microsoft, I had the privilege of trying out some of the new things early, and this gave me the opportunity to port MVVM Light to Windows Phone 8 (it was already running for Windows 8), and today I am officially publishing this new version. Before you go and update, please not the following: V4.1 (4.1.24.0) only supports Visual Studio 2012 (and Express). If for some reason you are still using Visual Studio 2010, don’t despair! In the next few days I will publish an update supporting these versions as well. But for now, please only upgrade if you are on VS12! That being said, here we go: The download page is available on Codeplex and you can download the updated MSI and install it. Please make sure to read the Readme HTML page that automatically opens in your web browser after the MSI completes! • SignalR Server Error "The ConnectionId is in the incorrect format." with SignalR-ObjC Library

  Before asking a separate question I've done lots of googling about it and added a comment in the already existing stackoverflow question. I have a SignalR Hub (tried both v. 1.1.3 and 2.0.0-rc) in my server with the below code: [HubName("TestHub")] public class TestHub : Hub { [Authorize] public void TestMethod(string test) { //some stuff here Clients.Caller.NotifyOnTestCompleted(); } } The problem persists if I remove the Authorize attribute. And in my iOS client I try to call it with the below code: SRHubConnection *hubConnection = [SRHubConnection connectionWithURL:_baseURL]; SRHubProxy *hubProxy = [hubConnection createHubProxy:@"TestHub"]; [hubProxy on:@"NotifyOnTestCompleted" perform:self selector:@selector(stopConnection)]; hubConnection.started = ^{ [hubProxy invoke:@"TestMethod" withArgs:@[@"test"]]; }; //received, error handling [hubConnection start]; When the app starts the user is not logged in and there is no open SignalR connection.   Deploying ASP.NET 3.5 Web Service to local IIS (on Windows 7) I get this error message... The account 'ASPNET' does not appear to be valid. The account was obtained from this location: 'AspNetWorkerProcessIdentityName'. Some or all identity references could not be translated. Publish failed to deploy. I've tried making the site use a specific Application Pool, and the Network Service user (which also has full rights to the deployment folder) but to no avail.

  I've just started experimenting with WPF templates vs. styles and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. The goal below is to alternate the colors of the options in the menu. The code works fine with just the , but when I copy and paste/rename it for the second segment of "MenuChoiceOdd" I get the following error: Provide value on 'System.Windows.Baml2006.TypeConverterMarkupExtension' threw an exception.   I have created a WCF service with one method which returns a System.Xml.XmlElement: using System.Xml; ... public XmlElement Execute(...) { XmlNode node = ...; return (XmlElement)node; } When I try to access the service deployed on my server WCFServiceClient service = new WCFServiceClient("WSHttpBinding_IWCFService"); XmlElement node = service.Execute(...); I get the error: Cannot implicitly convert type 'System.Xml.Linq.XElement' to 'System.Xml.XmlElement' Searching my service solution, I cannot see any reference to System.Xml.Linq.XElement. Is it wrong of me to expect a System.Xml.Xmlelement or is VS 2010 fooling around with me? Thanks in advance.

  Hey, I wanted to play around with using a MemoryMappedFile to access an existing binary file. If this even at all possible or am I a crazy person? The idea would be to map the existing binary file directly to memory for some preferably higher-speed operations. Or to atleast see how these things worked. using System.IO.MemoryMappedFiles; System.IO.FileInfo fi = new System.IO.FileInfo(@"C:\testparsercap.pcap"); MemoryMappedFileSecurity sec = new MemoryMappedFileSecurity(); System.IO.FileStream file = fi.Open(System.IO.FileMode.Open, System.IO.FileAccess.ReadWrite, System.IO.FileShare.ReadWrite); MemoryMappedFile mf = MemoryMappedFile.CreateFromFile(file, "testpcap", fi.Length, MemoryMappedFileAccess.Read, sec, System.IO.HandleInheritability.Inheritable, true); MemoryMappedViewAccessor FileMapView = mf.CreateViewAccessor(); PcapHeader head = new PcapHeader(); FileMapView.Read<PcapHeader>(0, out head); I get System.UnauthorizedAccessException was unhandled (Message=Access to the path is denied.) on the mf.CreateViewAccessor() line. I don't think it's file-permissions, since I'm running as a nice insecure administrator user, and there aren't any other programs open that might have a read-lock on the file.   ListView.ScrollIntoView(object) currently finds an object in the ListView and scrolls to it. If you are positioned beneath the object you are scrolling to, it scrolls the object to the top row. If you are positioned above, it scrolls it into view at the bottom row. I'd like to have the item be scrolled right into the center of my list view if it is currently not visible. Is there an easy way to accomplish this?

• Open source alternative for "Intellitrace"

  Microsoft has recently announced "Intellitrace", a killer feature for VS2010 IMHO. Basically it records all the instructions the program ran, and allows you to easily look through the execution log. Is there a similar feature for open source tools? Specifically such a feature for Java with Eclipse integration would be a nice thing to have.

• CS1685 Warning causes a CS0433 error when targeting 3.5 in VS2010

  I have a 2010 project that is targeting .NET v3.5. It was working fine until I started to mess with configurations a bit and now I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. The project doesn't have ANY references added. It won't even let me add a reference to System.Core as it is added by the 'build system'. warning CS1685: The predefined type 'System.Func' is defined in multiple assemblies in the global alias; using definition from 'c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\mscorlib.dll' IFilter.cs(82,49): error CS0433: The type 'System.Func' exists in both 'c:\Program Files (x86)\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\v3.5\System.Core.dll' and 'c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\mscorlib.dll' Looks like something is grabbing onto 4.0 but I'm not quite sure how to fix it. Any one else run into this?

  I just was playing with EF 4 in VS 2010 RC and just found that ApplyCurrentValues dont work when the Property is of type bool and the newly value is false !!!??? and it works when the newly value is true . • Getting an ASP.MVC2/VS2010 application to work in IIS 7.5

  I've recently downloaded beta 2 of VS2010 and started playing with ASP.NET MVC2. Initial development was done with Casini, but now I wanted to run the application from IIS 7.5 (I'm running Windows 7). I've installed the IIS6 metabase compatiblity and I run VS2010 as administrator so I can use the "Create Virtual Directory" button from the "Web" tab of the project settings. This created the web application entry in IIS, but it doesn't work. When I go to the main page (http://localhost/MyMvcApp/) I get a HTTP 403 error. When I go directly to one of the sub-pages (http://localhost/MyMvcApp/Home/) I get an HTTP 404. So I guess for some reason the URL routing isn't working. I've already added UrlRouting as a module and a handler to the web.config. In my searches this is offered as a solution for some similair problems. But for me this still doesn't work.   Everytime I try to set a debug point in Javascript, eietehr while in Design mode or while runniong, I get the error: trying to set a breakpoint in javascript: this is not a valid location for a breakpoint When I go to VS2010's Options screen under Debugging Just In Time, I see that Managed, Native & Script are selected, I also placed the line "debugger;" in the first line of a javascript function that is called but the break is never hit. In the Web.Config (although this is probably for compiled code:): <compilation debug="true I'm reliving this problem on a new machine...Can u help? Edit: I left out a huge detail: Google Chrome is my default browser. (I am trying to debug a Chrome-only error.) Must I resort to other debug tools other than VS2010? I am thinking that it should work. Too hopeful, eh?

  I am fairly new to unit testing and am using VS2010 to develop in and run my tests. I have a simple test, illustrated below, that simply compares 2 System.Data.DataTableReader objects. I know that they are equal as they are both created using the same object types, the same input file and I have verified that the objects "look" the same. I realize I may be dealing with a couple of issues, one being whether or not this is the proper use of Assert.AreEqual or even the proper way to test this scenario, and the other being the main issue I am dealing with which is why this test fails with this exception: Failed 00:00:00.1000660 0 Assert.AreEqual failed. Expected:<System.Data.DataTableReader>. Actual:<System.Data.DataTableReader>. Here is the unit test code that is failing: public void EntriesTest() { AuditLog target = new AuditLog(); target.Init(); DataSet ds = new DataSet(); ds.ReadXml(TestContext.DataRow["AuditLogPath"].ToString()); DataTableReader expected = ds.Tables[0].CreateDataReader(); DataTableReader actual = target.Entries.Tables[0].CreateDataReader(); Assert.AreEqual<DataTableReader>(expected, actual); } Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  I am trying to launch the emulator (Emulator 8.1 WVGA 4 inch 512 MB, or any other as a matter of fact) but it fails to launch.   I have a large vb.net web project that I am trying to updgrade to .net4/VS2010. During compile I get the following error: 'System.Web.Security.MembershipUser' in assembly 'System.Web, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' has been forwarded to assembly 'System.Web.ApplicationServices'. Either a reference to 'System.Web.ApplicationServices' is missing from your project or the type 'System.Web.Security.MembershipUser' is missing from assembly 'System.Web.ApplicationServices'. I researched the issue and the error is accurate. I added a reference to System.Web.ApplicationServices but I am still having problems. The project does not seem to recognize that the reference has been added. Intellisense will not pick it up, I can not use it in an Import statement, etc ... The assembly is listed in the compile section of my web.config: <assemblies> ... <add assembly="System.Web.ApplicationServices, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35"/> </assemblies> Any ideas?
