• TFS 2008 Build Script

  In TFS 2008, I am trying to modify a build script (TFSBuild.proj). I get the following warning: The element 'PropertyGroup' in namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003' has invalid child element 'TeamProject' in namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003'. Which is correct, The element PropertyGroup does indeed have a child called TeamProject. I’m making an assumption that this is caused because of the following line: <Project DefaultTargets="DesktopBuild" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003" ToolsVersion="3.5"> The Xml Namespace doesn’t appear to exist as far as I can tell, although it looks like a standard one. Please can anyone tell me if this is a standard XML namespace, how or where I can view its contents and whether the warning that I am seeing may be caused by it?

• HTTP Digest Authentication Fails With URL Parameters (CakePHP)

  I have a RESTful API set up and working with CakePHP using mapResources() and parseExtensions(). Authentication is handled by CakePHP's security component using HTTP Digest Authentication. Everything works fine, unless I add parameters to the url, in the form: http://example.com/locations.xml?distance=4 Which causes the authentication to always fail. Any ideas? Edit: This seems to be an issue with the regex in parseDigestAuthData(). There's a semi-fix here: http://old.nabble.com/paginator-conflicts-with-Security-%3ErequireLogin---td16301573.html which now allows me to use the format: http://example.com/locations/index/distance:4/.xml But that's not RESTful and doesn't look all that pretty. Still, getting closer!

  I read this comment in the OpenID post on the stackoverflow blog. Kibbee says : One nice feature of OpenID that I use is the ability to delegate the openID verification. So I can set up my own domain name, and then put a tiny bit of XML on that page that tells the site (like stackoverflow) to go to some other openid Provider (in my case MyOpenID). The big plus is that I have complete control over my Open ID account. If MyOpenID goes down, I can just switch to another provider. I think anybody who has their own domain name should go for this option. What is this tiny bit of XML that will allow my server to act as an openid provider/forwarder?

  I'm trying to create my first custom Google Gadget to be used privately in my company's Google Sites intranet. Ideally I'd like to just show a thumbnail that the user can click that will open a modal window with the full video. This requires my including a couple of small JS libraries in my widget. For my widget I created this XML: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <Module> <ModulePrefs title="Video Demos" /> <Content view="url" href="http://www.website.com/_gadgets/video.php"> </Content> </Module> The "video.php" page has simple HTML on it and includes two JS files for the modal window using but doesn't work. Are you not able to include external scripts like this? If not, what are my options here?

  I've been mandated to write an application to migrate the Active Directory access models to another environment. Here's the context: I'm stuck with VB.NET 2005 and .NET Framework 2.0; The application must use the Windows authenticated user to manage AD; The objects I have to handle are Groups, Users and OrganizationalUnits; I intend to use the Façade design pattern to provider ease of use and a fully reusable code; I plan to write a factory for each of the objects managed (group, ou, user); The use of Attributes should be useful here, I guess; As everything is about the DirectoryEntry class when accessing the AD, it seems a good candidate for generic types. Obligatory features: User creates new OUs manually; User creates new group manually; User creates new user (these users are services accounts) manually; Application reads an XML file which contains the OUs, groups and users to create; Application informs the user about the OUs, groups and users that shall be created; User specifies the domain environment where to migrate the XML input file designated objects; User makes changes if needed, and launches the task operations; Application performs required by the XML input file operations against the underlying AD as specified by the user; Application informs the user upon completion. Linear features: User fetches OUs, groups, users; User changes OUs, groups, users; User deletes OUs, groups, users; The application logs AD entries and operations performed, plus errors and exceptions; Nice-to-have features: Application rollbacks operations on error or exception. I've been working for weeks now to get acquainted with the AD and the System.DirectoryServices assembly. But I don't seem to find a way to be fully satisfied with what I'm doing and always looking for better. I have studied Bret de Smet's Linq to AD on CodePlex, but then again, I can't use it as I'm stuck with .NET 2.0, so no Linq! But I've learned about Attributes, and seen that he's working with generic types as he codes a DirectorySource class to perform the operations for OUs, groups and users. Any suggestions?   EDIT:: installed mysql-server but no phpmyadmin (since phpmyadmin was installed before mysql, that resulted an error). How to reinstall phpmyadmin with database (there is no phpmyadmin datbase)? unstalling it and reinstalling it didn't help. i was trying to install phpmyadmin (and zend framework) through synaptic manager but in the middle i was prompted for password i thought it was phpmyadmin password and i proceeded but i got error and i aborted. and then again i tried to reinstall, it reinstalled but i am not getting phpmyadmin. The best I've been able to come up with is something like this (where xml is an XDocument instance): var s = new MemoryStream(); var sw = new StreamWriter(s); xml.Save(sw); sw.Flush(); s.Position = 0; TextReader tr = new StreamReader(s); However, this seems a little clunky, so I was wondering if there's an easier way?

• Ivy: Publishing all artefacts in a directory

  I'm looking to move to Apache Ivy for dependency management on one of our existing projects. The project publishes many artefacts, and the artefacts it produces are likely to change in the future, so I don't want to enumerate all of the publications in the ivy.xml file -- I'd like Ivy to just publish all the files in a given directory. I considered auto-generating a list of the files built and using XSLT to insert it into the ivy.xml, but that seems a little cumbersome for what I'd expect to be a reasonably common requirement. Is there a better way to do this? Can Ivy pick up all the files in a directory and ignore the publications in the Ivy file? Or is there some way to get Ivy to use different files for publication and for fetching, so I can avoid having to use XSLT to merge the files.

• Read SharedPreferences when you haven't set the name of the file.

  When you createa a PreferenceScreen on Android, your application creates a default SharedPreferences file for the settings. I want to read this name, or get a reference without specifing the name. Currently I use: SharedPreferences prefs = ctx.getSharedPreferences("prefs", 0); SharedPreferences.Editor ed=prefs.edit(); But this returns another copy of the preference. When I checked the folder in /data/data/myapk/shared_prefs I see two files, one named prefs.xml and the other is my [package name]_preferences.xml (this was created by the PreferenceActivity); How do I get an instance of the shared preference with the usage of the default file name, so I should not mention a name for it?

• XSLT: Is there a way to "inherit" canned functionality?

  i am once again having to cobble together a bit of XSLT into order to turn generated XML into (rather than simply generating HTML). i'm having huge deja-vu this time again. i'm once again having to solve again basic problems, e.g.: how to convert characters into valid html entity references how to preserve whitespace/carriage returns when converting to html how to convert to HTML as opposed to xhtml how to convert dates from xml format into presentable format how to tear apart strings with substring This is all stuff that i've solved many times before. But every time i come back to XSLT i have to start from scratch, re-inventing the wheel every time. If it were a programming language i would have a library of canned functions and procedures i can call. i would have subroutines to perform the commonly repeated tasks. i would inherit from a base class that already implements the ugly boilerplate stuff. Is there any way in XSLT to grow, expand and improve the ecosystem with canned code?

• XSLT transformations in Ruby and JRuby

  Simple question: are there any solid XSLT libraries that work in both Ruby and JRuby? REXML works in both, but does not have XSLT support. ruby-xslt doesn't work in JRuby. The latest Nokogiri betas do support JRuby, but the support is still buggy and throws occasional NullPointerExceptions for XML input that works fine in Ruby. (In particular, any transforms that don't result in valid XML cause it to barf, even if xsl:output is set to 'text'!) JXslt is just a wrapper for Java's Xalan/Saxon and doesn't work in Ruby. Please tell me I'm missing something?

• Problem with WiX major upgrade!

  Okay, my last question on this journey of WiX upgrades managed to get my settings file to be preserved! However, There is another component that is being preserved that I don't want to! I need it to overwrite, and it's not. The component "Settings" now works, with the NeverOverwrite="yes", and a KeyPath="yes". However, the component immediately below it does not work! It needs to overwrite both the MDF and the LDF with new ones from the install! I've tried lots of stuff, and am stumped. Please and thank you!   I've tried searching but couldn't come up with a defined way on how to add your own packages to a GWT project. My tree structure looks like this: -com.mycompany -public MyApplication.html MyApplication.gwt.xml -com.mycompany.client MyApp.java -com.mycompany.gui TableLayout.java The answer I've seen out there says to add the packages relative to the root directory of the gwt.xml file, like so: <module> <inherits name="com.google.gwt.user.User" /> <entry-point class="com.mycompany.client.MyApp" /> <source path="client" /> <source path="gui" /> </module> It then complains: Unable to find type 'com.technicon.client.MyApp' Hint: Previous compiler errors may have made this type unavailable Hint: Check the inheritance chain from your module; it may not be inheriting a required module or a module may not be adding its source path entries properly Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong and how to fix this?

I am looking for client-side javascript plugin for jquery(prefered, or maybe other framework) or other javascript framework, that implements dynamic, interactive user interface (fig. 1) Requirements: 1) user interface shall be dynamic (client-side, javascript). 2) the displaying of the next control shall be dependent on input of previous control(s) 3) the dependency shall be implemented in declarative form (settings, mapping, xml...) 4) this scope of controls shall be supported: dropdown list - fixed list (static, list of items has fixed scope of items) edit input (loop-up) - dynamic list, dependent on user input dropdown list - fixed list (dynamic, list of items dependent on previous input) static structure controls to display dynamic data. 5) this scope of dependencies shall be implemented: one-way: one to one one-way: one to many 6) this scope of dependency actions shall be implemented: hide (remove) control show (add) control show disabled set default value 7) controls shall be filled in by using ajax requests to the server-side application (json, xml...) • Install JBIComponent from adminCommandsService

  I'm trying to install a JBI component inside ServiceMix 4.3 from a Java class. This JBIComponent is packed as .jar. I wanted to know if the jbi.xml descriptor is mandatory in .jar package like in .zip. I searched a lot of info and I'm not quite sure but as it looks like for the java classes that install the component is necessary this descriptor but when my maven project creates two files, one .zip and one .jar. The zip one has a jbi.xml descriptor inside META-INF. But the .jar that is generated doesn't have this descriptor. http://grepcode.com/file/repo1.maven.org/maven2/org.apache.servicemix.nmr/org.apache.servicemix.nmr.bundle/1.5.0/org/apache/servicemix/jbi/deployer/impl/AdminCommandsImpl.java This is the class that I'm using to install it. • Flex Dataprovider caching issue.

  I have two combobox controls. If i change combobox A then I am reading from xml and populating combobox B. The xml is loaded into memory in Application's creationComplete method. When I select values in combobox A and then open combobox B, I am seeing the values correctly, but when I deploy it on the server in a different machine (which is in a different subdomain), then my combobox B values are not cleared and are retained by old selection, when I select the combobox B, then it is getting refreshed. I am making the dataprovider = null for combobox b, and when I am assigning new collection then i am refreshing the arraycollection as well. But still the problem is not solved.

• How to populating Ontology at runtime?

  Hi, I have a configuration file with a lot of data like sensor locations, type, rules for activating devices etc. Basically related to a pervasive system. I plan to design an ontology for this domain. The doubt in my mind is how should I populate the ontology with the information in the configuration file, as the configuration files are going to change every now and then. Earlier I was planning to use XML, so I can just read the configuration file at runtime and create an XML as per the XSD. Do we use the same technique for Ontologies? If yes then what is the format of the populated ontology? Thanks Chan
