  • Does every browser open a new HTTPSession

    I am working on a webbased application which has JSP and servlets. In my application, I am binding some objects to sessions like the following code -- HttpSession session = p_req.getSession(); session.setAttribute(DOWNLOAD_With_WARNINGS, downloadMap); Later I am retrieving them using session.getAttribute. I would like to know if every time I open a new browser does it open a new HTTP session. Because , if I do a setAttribute with some value in one browser instance, that change is visible when I do a getAttribute using the other browser instance.

    LogEvents(System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetString(queryPlaces.ToBson)) I want to be able to output not just the content of System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetString(queryPlaces.ToBson) but also the actual string of System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetString(queryPlaces.ToBson) itself, perhaps with line numbers and file names. I know that I can do this easily with objective-c. How can I do that with .net? I've heard that that's what reflextion is for. But how? There is no macro in vb.net right?

  • Reason for .Net UI Element Thread-restriction

    We know that it is not possible to execute code that manipulates the properties of any UI element from any thread other than the thread the element was instantiated on... My question is why? I remember that when we used COM user interface elements, (in COM/VB6 days), that all UI elements were created using COM classes and co-classes that stored their resources using a memory model referred to as Thread-Local-Storage (TLS) , but as I recall, this was required because of something relaetd to the way COM components were constructed, and should not be relevant to .Net UI elements. Wha's the underlying reason why this restriction still exists? Is it because the underlying Operating System still uses COM-based Win32 API classes for all UI elements, even the ones manipulated in a managed .Net application ??

  • PHP Multi-Domain Sessions; ini_set Not Working?

    Hello, I'm trying to set it up so if you log in to my website the session carries over to all sub-domains of my website. For example, if you go to domain.com and log in, then go to sub.domain.com, you'll already be logged in at sub.domain.com. To my understanding, you would want to use ini_set('session.cookie_domain','.domain.com') and then session_start(), then set your session variables, but this isn't working. Example of what I'm doing: Code for domain.com: <?php ini_set('session.cookie_domain','.domain.com'); session_start(); $_SESSION['variable'] = 1; ?> Code for sub.domain.com: <?php session_start(); echo $_SESSION['variable']; ?> But $_SESSION['variable'] isn't set. I've also tried using ini_set() in the sub.domain.com code, but it made no difference. I've verified that setting session.cookie_domain is working by using ini_get(). What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

    Hi, I'm having an interview for an internship in the coming days and would like to know if there are any books that are particulary suited for preparing interviews. The interview is not particulary hard, just some questions about .Net and C# plus an algorithm to code. I tried C# in a Nutshell but it goes in too much detail for what I want to achieve. I'm more looking for a good yet small book that explains the important concepts of the .Net framework and C#, I already know the details, just want formal explanations so I'm confident when answering.     Does the .NET String.Format method allow placement of a string at a fixed position within a fixed length string. " String Goes Here" " String Goes Here " "String Goes Here " How is this done using .NET? Edit - I have tried Format/PadLeft/PadRight to death. They do not work. I don't know why. I ended up writing my own function to do this. Edit - I made a mistake and used a colon instead of a comma in the format specifier. Should be "{0,20}".     I would like to implement a way to trace every line of code in an application that is written for .net v4.0. An example would be. If I had the following function. private bool hasValue(string value) { if(string.isnullorempty(value) { return false; } else { return true; }} Then when the function is called I want detailed trace logs to contain something like this: Function called |Line 10 |Signature private bool hasValue(string value)|ValuesPassed hasValue("") Line Evaluated | Line 11 | if(string.isnullorempty(value) |ValuesPassed if(string.isnullorempty("") - evaluation returned true entered line 13 |signature return false|return action taken. This tracing can be done manually, but its a lot of work, and would dirty the code. Isn't there a way to get this level of tracing automatically with .net or 3rd party plugin? Thank you

    Hi all, I'm trying to apply some kind of limit on an asp:Repeater control, so that I can get only the first 5 results from repeating. The only suggested solution I have found is about limiting the sql statement results. In my case, this is not possible. I need to find some other kind of solution. Are there any other asp controls that I could use which are similar to Repeater?   • Django - Weird behaviour of sessions variables with Apache

    In a Menu class with Section children, each Section has an available attribute. This attribute is initialized during the instance creation. The process of getting the availability is not trivial, so I stock a Menu instance for each user in a session variable. With the Django embedded webserver this works well. But when I deploy the application on an Apache webserver I can observe a very weird behavior. Once authentified, a click on a link or a refreshment of the page and the availability of each Section seems to be forgotten (empty menu but in the log file I can see that all Sections are here) then a new refresh on the page the availability is back, a new refresh the menu disappears once again, etc. There is no cache activated on the web server. The menu is initialized in a context processor. def get_base_context(request): if 'MENU' not in request.session or \ not request.session['MENU'].childs or\ request.session['MENU'].user != request.user: _menu = Menu(request.user) _menu.init() request.session['MENU'] = _menu (...) I have no idea what could cause such a behavior. Any clue?

  • Set a session hash outside of RoR program?

    Hi, I have had my new rails program up for a few days now. I'm running it on Ubuntu 10.4 with apache2 in another location than the website it's made for (it's a standalone database application for physiotherapists). The people I made it for now want me to deploy it to the public part of their website, only with one change. Those who open it via the link in the public-part should not be able to click one button! I was thinking of doing something like this in my view: <% if session[:inside]%> <%=button_to 'Sækja mælitæki', @link_to_mt%> <%end%> How could I set session[:inside] only to true if the program was started from within the private part of the webpage? I thought of creating two new actions, the other would set session[:inside] to true and the other to false, but that seems to me like a security risk, is it not? BR, Sindri
