  • C# Execute Method (with Parameters) with ThreadPool

    We have the following piece of code (idea for this code was found on this website) which will spawn new threads for the method "Do_SomeWork()". This enables us to run the method multiple times asynchronously. The code is: var numThreads = 20; var toProcess = numThreads; var resetEvent = new ManualResetEvent(false); for (var i = 0; i < numThreads; i++) { new Thread(delegate() { Do_SomeWork(Parameter1, Parameter2, Parameter3); if (Interlocked.Decrement(ref toProcess) == 0) resetEvent.Set(); }).Start(); } resetEvent.WaitOne(); However we would like to make use of ThreadPool rather than create our own new threads which can be detrimental to performance. The question is how can we modify the above code to make use of ThreadPool keeping in mind that the method "Do_SomeWork" takes multiple parameters and also has a return type (i.e. method is not void). Also, this is C# 2.0.

    Hi fellow Umbraco users, I'm currently building my first umbraco website and since I'm completely new to umbraco I've already ran into a problem which I'm sure is pretty straight-forward to do. That said, I'm by no means a beginner when it comes to building sites that run on a (open source) CMS as I've been using Joomla! since it was called Mambo. Anyway, the site I'm building is here: my site What I want to do is to have some content in the white box that changes when you mouseover/hover one of the menu items. Also that content has to stay "active" when you've clicked on a link (i.e. if you click on "Profile" I need to highlight the Profile menu item with the gray color and the white boxs content needs to be what would be related to the Profile menu item. How do I go about this? What would be the best practice when it comes to showing multiple content on a site? I've watched the video about multiple Content Place Holders, but I never really got it to work. I can't get a page to display in the NavigationPlaceHolder (the placeholder I put in the white box), but thats because the actual page is Frontpage.aspx and not WhateverIsInThenavigationPlaceHolder.aspx. If I go to the mysite.dk/WhateverIsInTheNavigationPlaceHolder.aspx it shows up fine. What have I missed here? :) Thanks in advance!     I have a div element containing some text. When the user clicks a word inside that div I'd like to highlight just that word. In order to do this I need to know what character position in the text the click occurred at, so I can then locate nearby whitespace and insert some formatting around the word. Finding out where the click occurred within the text is the trick here. Is that kind of thing possible?

If I open multiple windows, it ignores the additional windows. I think it is creating a server socket for each window, but since they are using the same port, the additional sockets fail to initialize. I need it to create a server socket when the browser launches and continue running when I close the windows (Mac OS X). As it is, when I close a window but Firefox remains running, the socket closes and I have to restart firefox to get it up an running. How do I go about that?

    I'm just getting into Factory Girl and I am running into a difficulty that I'm sure should be much easier. I just couldn't twist the documentation into a working example. Assume I have the following models: class League < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :teams end class Team < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :league has_many :players end class Player < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :team end What I want to do is this: team = Factory.build(:team_with_players) and have it build up a bunch of players for me. I tried this: Factory.define :team_with_players, :class => :team do |t| t.sequence {|n| "team-#{n}" } t.players {|p| 25.times {Factory.build(:player, :team => t)} } end But this fails on the :team=>t section, because t isn't really a Team, it's a Factory::Proxy::Builder. I have to have a team assigned to a player. In some cases I want to build up a League and have it do a similar thing, creating multiple teams with multiple players. What am I missing?

    I have a boost multi_index_container declared as below which is indexed by hash_unique id(unsigned long) and hash_non_unique transaction id(long). Insertion and retrieval of elements is fast but when I delete elements, it is much slower.   • MS Access 2003 - Option Group frame: can I add text boxes that are part of the frame instead of rad

    Ok so this maybe a simple/silly question but I don't know so here goes: In access let's say I want to have a frame control, so I click the option group button and add it to the desgin surface. However, I am not wanting to use this as a option group with radio button selection, instead I would like to add text boxes instead the frame, so that when I reference the frame, it references every control instead of it, hence the text boxes, cbo boxes, etc.....just as it would if they were radio option selections. So can you do this? I want whatever controls I add inside the frame to be easily referenced (i.e. make all controls visible just by using frameExample.visible = true) so that I can build my own tab control groupings..... can this be done? Thanks! EDIT: What I am trying to accomplish is having a form that includes a collection of controls (input controls - cbo boxes, text boxes, etc), that serve as the Main record information. These are saved to a table via an INSERT statement on button_click because this form is unbound. Next I have 8 categories that are relative per each main record (and data that goes along with it). Each of these categories could have a sub form area and a button click that bring it's relative form into the sub form area. These sub forms would be unbound as well as I would just save data via SQL statement. So i know I could accomplish this by running the insert statement from the parent form, on the main collection control's data that would create the KeyID number, then run a SQL statement that would turn around and load that KeyID number right back onto the page in a hidden text box. Then when I click one of the sub forms and load its relative collection of controls, I could then save that data along with KeyID for each of these sub-forms/tables. SO...... I was wondering if instead you could define these controls as a collection so that you could hide and make visible all the ones you need on button clicks and avoid the need for additional forms (subs). I know that if a user enters data into a text box, and then somewhere along the way that box becomes hidden, the data still exists in it and still ends up in the SQL statement.... So I want all these controls to exist on the same form, but I thought what is I could encapsulate them into a frame like an option group, then I could call the frame and all the relative controls would be called up (made visible) as needed.   • Where to put default-servlet-handler in Spring MVC configuration

    In my web.xml, the default servlet mapping, i.e. /, is mapped to Spring dispatcher. In my Spring dispatcher configuration, I have DefaultAnnotationHandlerMapping, ControllerClassNameHandlerMapping and AnnotationMethodHandlerAdapter which allows me to map url to controllers either by its class name or its @Requestmapping annotation. However, there are some static resources under the web root which I also want spring dispatcher to serve using default servlet. According to Spring documentation, this can be done using <mvc:default-servlet-handler/> tag. In the configuration below, there are 4 candidate locations that I marked which are possible to insert this tag. Inserting the tag in different location causes the dispatcher to behave differently as following : Case 1 : If I insert it at location 1, the dispatcher will no longer be able to handle mapping by the @RequestMapping and controller class name but it will be serving the static content normally. Cas 2, 3 : It will be able to handle mapping by the @RequestMapping and controller class name as well as serving the static content if other mapping cannot be done successfully. Case 4 : It will not be able to serve the static contents.   • Drupal: Template Files, Modules and Content Types for Advanced Theme

    Intro I am in the process of trying to convert my first HTML/CSS design into a theme for Drupal. I have used ModX for quite a few designs and appreciate the ability to create different page templates and custom variables to be assigned to those templates. However I seem to be having some issues making the transition. The site I am working on theming in Drupal is for a real estate agent. Each page/section will have a different set of content associated with it and will need to display only that content. For example, there will be a page for current listings, each of which will be formatted by a custom content type. However, when I call the content on the home page (or on other pages) I do not want to see this listing data. Layout The layout of the site and the regions associated with each page/section is as follows: Home Spotlight Featured 1 Featured 2 About Spotlight Bios - Profiles of each agent (each will be a node with name, contact info, pic, etc) listed on the page; multiple nodes listed Sidebar Listings Spotlight Listings - Profiles of properties (each will be a node with locations, basic info, pic, etc) listed on the page; multiple nodes listed Sidebar Services Spotlight Content - general paragraph text area Sidebar News/Blog News/Blog Items - List of stories with summaries and links to full article Sidebar Each page/section will use the same header and footer. Issue I have done some reading on Drupal, custom content types (and CCK), Views, and Pathauto. However I have not been able to get a clear picture of how to put it all together to accomplish what I am attempting. What I really would like to know is which modules to use, how best to use them, which elements I need to use where, and what template files I should be using to theme the elements I need to use. Any help or reference to useful resources would be much appreciated.

  • Javascript : Submitting a form outside the actual form doesn't work

    Hello all, I'm trying to achieve a fairly easy triggering mechanism for deleting multiple items from a tablegrid. If a user has enough access he/she is able to delete multiple users from a table. In the table I have set up checkboxes, one per row/user. The name of the checkboxes is UsersToDeletep[], and the value per row is the unique UserID. When a user clicks the button 'Delete selected users' a simple validation takes place to make sure at least one checkbox is selected. After that I call my simple function Submit(form). The function works perfectly when called within the form-tags, where I also use it to delete a single user. The function: function Submit(form) { document.forms[form].submit(); } I've also alerted document.forms[form]. The result is, as expected [object HTMLFormElement]. But for some reason the form just won't submit and a pagereload takes place. I'm a bit confused and can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone point me in the right direction?   • How to move list items from two lists (from different areas) to one specific list by clicking the li

    I've been having some issues setting up a list of items and moving them between each other. Is it possible to have multiple lists, with a link inside each item to move it to a specified list? i.e. List of actions with a plus next to the action, click the plus and move to a specified box? Furthermore, would it be possible to then load a lightbox (code would have to be inline I'd guess) from that page and move those names to the specific list as well? Example Images Thanks much! More broad view of my efforts so far... The initial issue being that I could not use listboxes due to their being rendered natively inside each individual browser. Through listboxes I was able to set this up, but with a trigger via the code below (found on stackoverflow). While it gave me partial functionality it did not get the target I was looking for. document.getElementById('moveTrigger').onclick = function() { var listTwo = document.getElementById('secondList'); var options = document.getElementById('firstList').getElementsByTagName('option'); while(options.length != 0) { listTwo.appendChild(options[0]); } } I then moved onto jqueryui's sortable and it's ability to connect multiple, and most important, style-able lists and to be dragged between each other. This works for the side by side tables, but it does not offer the usability I was looking for overall. So, I've come to where I'm unsure as to where to move forward. While I can get around PHP, I wouldn't know where to start with this one personally. I'm open to any and all options! Thanks much!

  • Suggestions for entering mobile development -- pure iPhone SDK, Andorid SDK. Mono Touch or Titanium?

    I am entering mobile development. I have been working primarily in .NET since 1.0 came out in beta. Before that, I was mostly a C++ and Delphi guy and still dabble in C++ from time to time. I do web apps quite a bit so I am reasonably proficient with Javascript, JQuery and CSS. I have also done a few Java applications. I started web programming with CGI and live mostly in the ASP.NET MVC world these days. I am trying to decide on which platform/OS and tool to select. I am concerned with the size of the market available for my applications as well as the marketibility of the skills I will pick up. The apps I have in mind would work on both phones and pads. Some aspects of what I have in mind will play better on the bigger screens that will be available on pads. Here are the options I am considering: Apple iPhone/iPad using pure Apple SDK (Objective-C) Apple iPhone/iPad using Mono Touch (C#) Android using pure Android SDK (Java) Multiple platforms using something like Titanium to generate native apps from web technologies (HTML, CSS and Javascript) Multiple platforms using HTML5 web applications that run in the browser (HTML, CSS and Javascript). Which option would you choose? Do you have a different suggestion? What are the pros and cons?
