DropDownList selectedValue not changing display

I have a list of controls that I change based on an event. The controls are contained within a table that is created dynamically. I traverse through a set of controls and if it is a RadioButtonList or a DropDownList I do the following: CType(cntrl, ListControl).SelectedValue = val The radio buttons set just fine but the dropdown list doesn't reset. Can anyone tell me why. The initial table is created on the first Page Load and stored in memory. It's values are changed during the eventhandling and reposted to a MasterPage's content holder.

limit of connections with database and number of java threads in an application

Hi, I am working to develop a JMS application(stand alone multithreaded java application) which can receive 100 messages at a time , they need to be processed and database procedures need to be called for inserting/updating data. Procedures are very heavy as validations are also performed in them. Each procedure is taking about 30 to 50 seconds of time to execute and they are capable to run concurrently. My concern is to execute 100 procedures for all 100 messages and also send reply within time limit of 90 seconds by jms application. No application server to be used(requirement) and database is Teradata (RDBMS) I am using connection pool and thread pool in java code and testing code with 90 connections. Question is : (1) What should be the limit on number of connections with database at a time? (2) How many threads at a time are recommended? Thanks, Jyoti

User controls in masterpage and anonymous user

I am developing a master page which includes the user control that generates a menu from the list with a specific logic. Before including the control into master page I successfully configured anonymous access to the site. After including the control and deploying - site prompts for user name and password. I allowed the anonymous access to the list. Oh yes ... It worked on SHarepoint 2010 beta, but the problem happens when deploying to the Sharepoint 2010 final release. Additional data: I am using Sharepoint Server 2010 with Standard features, standalone instalation on Windows Server 2008 R2 for deployment, and Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate for development of masterpage and user control.

Pure functional bottom up tree algorithm

Say I wanted to write an algorithm working on an immutable tree data structure that has a list of leaves as its input. It needs to return a new tree with changes made to the old tree going upwards from those leaves. My problem is that there seems to be no way to do this purely functional without reconstructing the entire tree checking at leaves if they are in the list, because you always need to return a complete new tree as the result of an operation and you can't mutate the existing tree. Is this a basic problem in functional programming that only can be avoided by using a better suited algorithm or am I missing something?

Delete MSMQ Queue During Uninstall

Is it possible to delete a private message queue that was created by the service user? During uninstallation, we would like to clean up any message queues created by our application. For security purposes, access to these queues has been restricted to the current user (ServiceUser). During uninstall, we have admin privileges, but still get an access denied MessageQueueException when we attempt to delete the queue or modify the privs on the queue. Python - react to custom keyboard interrupt

Hello. I am writing python chatbot that displays output through console. Every half second it asks server for updates, and responds to message. In the console I can see chat log. This is sufficient in most cases, however, sometimes I want to interrupt normal workflow and write custom chat answer myself. I would love to be able to press a button (or combination) that would switch to "custom reply mode". What is the best way to do that, or achieve similar result? Thanks a lot!

Watir question regarding selecting a hidden dropdown.

Hi, I have two dropdowns, the second dropdown does not show until a choice is made from the first one. Using watir, i can select the first dropdown, and when i watch it, the second one becomes active, but it cannot select it. i just tried the regular select_list using name and id. Hi all, I am writing a spring 2.5 application and in my jsp I'm writing my own tags. It's about a list of objects...when I change the number of rows that list shows(a combobox), I am doing a submit on my form returning back to the view(obviosly with the new number of rows returned). When listing with my own tags I need to get the properties from my command object. I have access to the pageContext object but I can't figure where the command object is stored. Java loading user-specified classes at runtime

I'm working on robot simulation in Java (a Swing application). I have an abstract class "Robot" from which different types of Robots are derived, e.g. public class StupidRobot extends Robot { int m_stupidness; int m_insanityLevel; ... } public class AngryRobot extends Robot { float m_aggression; ... } As you can see, each Robot subclass has a different set of parameters. What I would like to do is control the simulation setup in the initial UI. Choose the number and type of Robots, give it a name, fill in the parameters etc. This is one of those times where being such a dinosaur programmer, and new to Java, I wonder if there is some higher level stuff/thinking that could help me here. So here is what I've got: (1) User Interface Scrolling list of Robot types on the left. "Add " and "<< Remove" buttons in the middle. Default-named scrolling list of Robots on the right. "Set Parameters" button underneath. (So if you wanted an AngryRobot, you'd select AngryRobot on the left list, click "Add" and "AngryRobot1" would show up on the right.) When selecting a Robot on the right, click "Set Parameters..." button which would call yet another model dialog where you'd fill in the parameters. Different dialog called for each Robot type. (2) Data structures an implementation As an end-product I think a HashMap would be most convenient. The keys would be Robot types and the accompanying object would be all of the parameters. The initializer could just retrieve each item one and a time and instantiate. Here's what the data structures would look like: enum ROBOT_TYPE {STUPID, ANGRY, etc} public class RobotInitializer { public ROBOT_TYPE m_type; public string m_name; public int[] m_int_params; public float[] m_float_params; etc. The initializer's constructor would create the appropriate length parameter arrays based on the type: public RobotInitializer(ROBOT_TYPE type, int[] int_array, float[] float_array, etc){ switch (type){ case STUPID: m_int_params = new int[STUPID_INT_PARAM_LENGTH]; System.arraycopy(int_array,0,m_int_params,0,STUPID_INT_PARAM_LENGTH); etc. Once all the RobotInitializers are instantiated, they are added to the HashMap. Iterating through the HashMap, the simulation initializer takes items from the Hashmap and instantiates the appropriate Robots. Is this reasonable? If not, how can it be improved? Thanks

Make Directory.GetFiles() ignore protected folders

Hello Everyone, I'm using the Directory.GetFiles() method to get a list of files to operate on. This method throws an UnauthorizedAccessException for example when trying to access a protected folder. I would like it to simply skip over such folders and continue. How can I accomplish this with either Directory.GetFiles (preferably) or another method? Update: Here is the code that throws the exception. I am asking the user to select a directory and then retrieving the list of files. I commented out the code (so this is now whole method) that iterates through the files and the problem still occurs. The exception is thrown on the Directory.GetFiles() line. I can't see a cropper in IE7/8. No problem in FF and the demo (with IE7/8).

Hi, i have this cropper in my app. login: fer password: m Note: after loginning you will be redirected to another page. Then click again the link i mention. I can see it working in FF, but not in IE7/8 (Windows XP SP2, just installed). It's supposed it works ok, because I don't have any problems to operate the demo in both browsers, and in IE 8 Developer Tools the all the .js's necessary appeared as loaded. I have contacted with the developer of the cropper but he didn't reply. Any idea? Javi

ASP.NET DropDownList Replacement

Currently, I'm populating a drop down list when a file is created in a configurable folder. if (!downloadRspDropDown.Items.Contains(new ListItem(txt, fileData.FullName)) Then, I add the file and remove "No Responses Available". However, if the same file is resubmitted (i.e., the file name is the same but the timestamp is different), then I want to remove the older entry and replace it with a new entry in the drop down list. I have the filename, so I go into the "else" block from the line of code above. From there, I'm checking to see if I have the same filename and a different creation time. if (downloadRspDropDown.Items.Contains(new ListItem(txt, fileData.FullName) && downloadRspDropDown.Items.Contains(new ListItem(txt, fileData.CreationTime) From here, I want to find the position, remove it, and add the new text. This approach isn't working. Can anyone offer an alternate approach?

Problem with JQuery swapImage();

Hello!~ On my articles page (http://www.adrtimes.squarespace.com/articles) I have each entry start with an image that changes on rollover. This is working fine. However, on my homepage (http://www.adrtimes.squarespace.com), I am loading in the 2 most recent articles that are not categorized as video, and the 2 most recent articles that are tagged as video. I am using jQuery load() to pull in the content from the articles page. Everything works ok with that except the swapImage rollovers on the homepage. i tried including the swapImage function as callbacks but only one group or the other will rollover properly, not both groups of content. I'm not sure what the problem is!! How to make a div expand vertically to wrap the content within it?

I have a div which wraps a number of images that are generated dynamically. I don't know how high the list of images is. My problem is the div that contains the dynamically generated images doesn't behave like it is housing any content - I want it to extend to the height of the list of images. Each image is itself wrapped in a div. This is the wrapper div: .block { padding:10px; margin-top:10px; height:auto; background-color:#f9f9f9; } This is the markup dynamically generated for (one of) the images: <div class="block"> <div style="float: left; padding: 2px 2px 2px 2px;"><IMG SRC="45.jpg" BORDER="0"/></div> ..... Eclipse call hierarchy skips calls in undefined #ifdef regions

Hi all, The "call hierarchy" and "declaration" features in Eclipse CDT omit results that exist in undefined (greyed out) #ifdef regions. Example: void blah(void) { #ifndef ABC foo(); #else //line is greyed out bar(); //line is greyed out #endif //line is greyed out } The call hierarchy for foo() will list blah() as a caller; the call hierarchy for bar() will not list blah(). I'm not expecting it to do full resolution of which #define blocks will get compiled, I simply would like it to return all calls/declarations of the function I'm searching for, regardless of the #define blocks that surround it. Other IDEs such as SlickEdit are able to do this. Does anyone know of a way to get Eclipse to adopt this behavior? Thanks.

Django dictionary in templates: Grab key from another objects attribute

I have a dictionary called number_devices I'm passing to a template, the dictionary keys are the ids of a list of objects I'm also passing to the template (called implementations). I'm iterating over the list of objects and then trying to use the object.id to get a value out of the dict like so: {% for implementation in implementations %} {{ number_devices.implementation.id }} {% endfor %} Unfortunately number_devices.implementation is evaluated first, then the result.id is evaluated obviously returning and displaying nothing. I can't use parentheses like: {{ number_devices.(implementation.id) }} because I get a parse error. How do I get around this annoyance in Django templates? Thanks for any help!

DotNetNuke adds wrong module to page

I've deployed DotNetNuke 07.03.02 to Azure using Azure's own wizard - worked fine. Been using DNN for years on personal server without issues. However, when I try to add a module to a page (i.e regular editing) DNN adds the wrong module to the page; seemingly FirstOrDefault from the list of installed modules. I.E, I want to add the "HTML" module (or any other) to a page but instead I get the "Banners" module. If I then uninstall the the Banners module it now adds the "Modules list" module. See below example, where I'm editing the "About" page of my site and have tried to add the HTML module. I hope anyone with insight into DNN (on Azure) can provide info. I am a .Net developer, but have so far had no reason to dig into DNN's inner workings.

How to scan for available networks for Blackberry device from application?

Hi All, Is there any RIM API available which will help to get the list of available network service or only Wi-Fi networks for a device and set selected network access point for any network communications? Is it possible programmatically to disable the Mobile networks like GPRS, WAP, etc? For Ex: When a application is started it should scan for WiFi connections (even if there are no previous WiFi network access points are set on device) and list the available WiFi connection. Then user will select the appropriate WiFi connection to connect for any network communication. Outside the application any internet communication (like browser or any other application) should done through same selected WiFi connection. The scanning for WiFi and setting the connection is almost similar to Blackberry WiFi Setup. If anyone know how to implement this using available RIM API and let me know its possible or not. How do I include extremely long literals in C++ source?

Essentially, I need to store a large list of whitelisted entries inside my program, and I'd like to include such a list directly -- I don't want to have to distribute other libraries and such, and I don't want to embed the strings into a Win32 resource, for a bunch of reasons I don't want to go into right now. I simply included my big whitelist in my .cpp file, and was presented with this error: 1>ServicesWhitelist.cpp(2807): fatal error C1091: compiler limit: string exceeds 65535 bytes in length The string itself is about twice this allowed limit by VC++. What's the best way to include such a large literal in a program?

What is the easiest way to send a Javascript array via JSON to PHP?

I have a few arrays that I want to send to process with PHP. Using json2.js I will stringify the arrays like so: var JSONlinks = JSON.stringify(link_array); var JSONnotes = JSON.stringify(note_array); but then I'm confused. Do I need to use a XMLHttpRequest object? Is there another way? If that is the simplest way, could someone please just share the most basic instance of the code needed in order to send to PHP where I can then use JSON decode? I think it might help others in the future really. I'm currently using Jquery and I know there are many options out there for frameworks and each one may or may not make this process any easier. If you're using a framework in your reply please mention why you'd choose that framework rather than just javascript.

i can't see a context menu of WPF windows app through VNC

I can open a context menu but cannot see the opened menu list through VNC. (I know that i can open the context menu by checking the vnc server machine directly) I tested on different vnc servers / clients machines (although all of them are windows Vista), and different wpf app, but still I cant see any menu list. Is this a reported problem? I found some information about wpf problem relating to windows desktop, but i dont know about vnc. ADDED : I dont have this problem on windows native apps or windows forms apps under my vnc environment.
