  • SharePoint domain authentication

    I have a local domain controller setup, which is MYDOMAIN.com, and on a seperate local server I have a MOSS site running. the DNS is all working fine but when I try to connect to the MOSS site using domain credentials I can't use syntax: MYDOMAIN/MyAccount it is expecting [email protected] What can I do to fix this issue, so I have normal domain login capabilities like every other sharepoint site out there?

    I have a domain controller running on Windows 2008 Server R2 and users login to application servers on which Windows 2003 Server SP2 is installed. I have applied a Group Policy to clean temporary internet files on exit i.e to delete all temporary internet files when users close the browser. But the group policy doesn't seem to work as user profile size keeps on increasing and the major space is occupied by temporary internet files therefore increasing the disk usage. How can i enforce automatic deletion of temporary internet files?

    From what I understand, the noarch suffix means that it's architecture independent and should work universally. If this is the case, why should I install architecture-specific packages at all? Why not just go straight for the noarch? Are there optimizations in the x86 or x64 binaries that aren't found in the noarch binaries? What's best for high performance applications?   • Constant crashes in windows 7 64bit when playing games

    I've tried everything I can possibly think of in trying to fix this problem and I'm totally out of ideas, so any help would be appreciated: The problem: whenever I fire up a game, it works for a short while with no problems and then it would crash. Either its a hard crash, forcing me to reboot, or windows would report that the display driver has stopped working and recovered. Here is a list of things I've already tried: Drivers - tried the latest drivers (catalyst 9.12) as well as the stock drivers that came with the video card. Also have the latest BIOS/chipset Memtest - Ran Memtest86+ overnight, had no problems, the windows diagnostic tool also does not find any problems. Overheating - Video card/cpu temperatures are well below peak (42 and 31 Celsius receptively) PSU Voltage - CPUID shows that the voltage levels are all above what they should be. The PSU itself is only roughly 16 months old and is a good model. HDD - No errors when checked GPU - Brand new (replaced previous card since I thought it was the problem, apparently not) Overclocking - Everything is at stock levels, memory voltage is set to manufacturer's standard Specs: Motherboard: ASUS P5Q Pro CPU: Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0 ghz OS: Windows 7 home premium 64 bit Memory: Mushkin Enhanced 4GB DDR2 GPU: Sapphire HD 5850 1GB PSU: SeaSonic M12 600W ATX12V DirectX: DX11 Event Viewer after a crash always has these logged: A fatal hardware error has occurred.   • ESXi 4.1 host not recognising existing VMFS datastore

    Existing setup: host1 and host2, ESX 4.0, 2 HBAs each. lun1 and lun2, 2 LUNs belonging to the same RAID set (my terminology might be sketchy here). This has been working just fine all along. I added host3, ESXi 4.1, 2 HBAs. If I view Configuration / Storage Adapters, I can see that both HBAs see both LUNs, but if I view Configuration / Storage, I only see 1 datastore. host1/2 can see both LUNs and I have VMs running on both too. I have rescanned, refreshed and even rebooted, but host3 refuses to acknowledge 1 of the datastores. Does anyone know what's going on? Update: I re-installed the host with ESX (not i) 4.0, same version as the existing hosts and it's still not recognising the vmfs. I think I'm going to SVmotion everything off that datastore then format it. Update2: I've created the LUN from scratch and the problem gets even weirder. I've presented the LUN to all 3 hosts, and I can see the LUN in the vSphere client's Configuration / Storage Adapters section on all 3 hosts. If I create a datastore on the LUN via the Configuration / Storage section on host1, it works fine and I can create an empty folder via datastore browser, but the datastore is not seen by the host2 and host3. I can use the Add Storage wizard on host2 and it will see the LUN. At this point the "VMFS Label" column has the label I gave with "(head)" appended. If I try the Add Storage wizard's "Keep the existing signature" option, it fails with an error "Cannot change the host configuration." and a dialog box that says 'Call "HostStorageSystem.ResolveMultipleUnresolvedVmfsVolumes" for object "storageSystem-17" on vCenter Server "vcenter.company.local" failed.' If I try the Add Storage wizard's "Assign a new signature" option on host2, it will complete and the VMFS label will have "snap-(hexnumber)-" prepended. At this point its also visible on host3, but not host1. I have a similar setup in a different datacenter which didn't give me all this trouble.

  • MAMP Pro .xip.io, fixing urls with htaccess

    I've got all my websites set up with MAMP Pro. For instance, I got it set up, so when I go to example.com, the browser displays the website that's set up on my iMac. Now, I wanna get MAMP Pro to work so I can view my website on my other computers/devices (which are all hooked up on the same network.) So far all I had to do is check the checkbox "via Xip.io (LAN only)", and now I can view my website on my other computers/devices within my LAN by simply going to example.com.10.0.1.13.xip.io. Problem is, whenever I'm on this other computer/device, when I click on the links, I get 404 error. ie. whenever I go to example.com/news, I get the 404. But when I go to example.com.10.0.1.13.xip.io/news, THEN I get the right page. So in order to solve my problem I need to rewrite the urls. So whenever someone clicks on a link ie. goes straight to example.com/news, he'll go to example.com.10.0.1.13.xip.io/news. I don't want to change all the links in my MySQL file, but I believe I can do it simply with the htaccess file.   • Processing-time billing in Amazon EC2

    Hi all! I think my question is fairly basic, but I would like a clarification: in the Pricing part of AWS we can see that Amazon charges people around .10 by the 'instance computing hour'. I've seen in a blog post somewhere (can't remember where exactly, and even if I did I think it was in Portuguese anyway) that this way your minimum monthly payment would be $72 (= .10 $s/hour x 24 hours x 30 days). Is this correct? (I don't think it is!) In my understanding is that this 'virtual computing time' is only used when your machine is actually doing something (serving pages, serving the admin via ssh, whatever), so real billable usage would be less than 720 hours/month in most webserver scenarios. Is my view correct? If it is, then it leads me to another question: is it economically interesting to buy access to one of these instances for testing? I mean, would I have the 'freedom' to 'forget' about it for a month and receive a very-close-to-zero (as in, a few cents) bill? Do you do it/know of anybody who does? Any thoughts on the matter (as in, "yes, it's a good idea", or "yes, but there's this 'gotcha': ...", or "no, nobody does it because of...")? PS: sorry for the loong question text. I highlighted the main questions for easy view. Also, I'm not sure if this question is actually more than one and if it's desirable for the community, so, sorry if it is too! Thanks in advance!

  • Why do fonts sometimes look "fat" on Mac OS X?

    Sometimes when resuming from suspend, the fonts in Mac OS X look "fatter" than normal. Unfortunately right now I can't get my Macbook Pro to exhibit the "normal" behavior for comparison, it has been abnormal yesterday and today. If I can get screenshots of what I think is 'normal', I'll add them. "Fixing" this has been random. I use an external monitor, and sometimes unplugging it and plugging back in, or even turning it off and back on has worked. Sometimes with the display attached (or not) detecting displays works. Sometimes logging out or rebooting entirely is what it takes. Displays used: Macbook Pro 15" built-in display Dell 27" LCD (2009 model) Software where I see this happen, at least most noticably: Firefox (screenshots below) iTerm Things MacIrssi (screenshots below) I am using Mac OS X 10.5.8.     hi, i will get an ibm x3500 in the next days and wondered which linux i should use. i tend to use ubuntu 10.04 server, haven't heard anything bad about it and i'm a big debian fan. there will be a raid 5 powered by the ibm hardware raid controller (don't know which one). is it possible to monitor and manage it wit hthe ubuntu 10.04 server distro? or should i go another way and choose something like redhat (haven't used it though...)? thanks in advance regards

    My problem is that im trying to setup a server farm but the nodes all come up as offline. I dont get a connection error saying that the servername is wrong, but get "offline" after it "test connection" I have: - Setup firewalls rules to allow Remote and file share on Domain and private network - Installed WWF 2.0 on both servers - Account that im using is a domain account that is Administrator on both machines. www01 is the same server as the controller below, but same results if i try www02 as primary. Any ideas?

  • Is there any way to synchronize Outlook RSS Feeds with BlackBerry?

    Does anyone know how I can view the contents of my Outlook 2007 RSS Feeds from a corporate-issued BlackBerry? Our Inbox and Calendar are already integrated with corporate exchange servers but it looks like nobody cares too much about the RSS Feeds. Is there some setting on my Blackberry or in Outlook I could possibly tweak to include these updates? I know there are many standalone RSS readers available for blackberry (Google Reader for example) but I mention Outlook RSS Feeds specifically in my question because I am subscribing to a number of RSS feeds I've setup on my intranet for various version control systems that would be inaccessible to an external RSS reader. It seems like I might have to setup some sort of email commit notifications if I want anything from my blackberry but I much prefer the 'pull' method of an RSS feed viewer over receiving streams of emails. Please feel free to suggest any alternatives! Edit: I've additionally tried moving my "SVN Repository" folder directly into my Mailbox instead of keeping it as a child of the RSS Feeds folder. This allows me to view the SVN Repository folder on my blackberry where previously the RSS Feeds folder and all children were hidden but unfortunately it never seems to get populated with the items that are displaying in Outlook. I've even made a fresh commit to make sure that the SVN Repository folder still works correctly in Outlook from outside the RSS Feeds folder but no luck on the BlackBerry end of things.   • Truncated content with Apache on Vagrant VM

    I'm using Vagrant to run a CentOS VM in order to try and achieve local development parity with our live servers. I've symlinked /var/www/html with the /vagrant shared directory and am forwarding port 80 for viewing at http://localhost:4567. I'm developing using SublimeText 2 on OS X Mountain Lion. Once I figured that iptables was tripping me up, all was well and good. Until I noticed something strange. I have a sample HTML page consisting of several paragraphs of lorem copy. I can view this fine in a browser on OS X. But when I make an edit, for example removing a paragraph, and refresh the content is truncated with the paragraph I deleted still visible. When I cat the files on the server I can see the changes I made but these aren't even reflected when I curl localhost. I strongly suspect that it's a problem with my Apache settings — with which I didn't really tinker — as the issue doesn't arise when I stop Apache and run sudo python -m SimpleHTTPServer 80 in the directory to view pages instead. What gives?

  • Eucalyptus / no bootable EBS yet - any alternatives to Eucalyptus?

    I've read a couple of articles that Eucalyptus doesn't support bootable EBS yet. This is a problem since you can't make a backup form an instance like you a able on Amazon cloud or Rack Space Cloud. If you ever reboot the physical Ecalyptus sever that's running the node controller the instance is gone along with all your settings. Are there any alternatives to Eucalyptus or is just the only game in town when it comes to open source cloud?

When I join a PC to the new domain it creates a new profile. How can I migrate (or whats an easy way) the local profile to this new domain profile? Can I keep all settings, desktop layout, outlook 2003 settings etc while doing this?

  • After adding a SSD to my MacBook, the HD never spins down.

    I added a SSD to my MacBook Pro 17 as the primary drive attached to the SATA controller. I moved the HD to the optical bay using the OptiBay from MCE Technologies which I use for my home directory. The problem I have encountered is the HD seems to never stop spinning. I have modified the sleep settings, hoping one of the various options would solve my problem without success. Any suggestions for me?

  • Slow Write Speed on ESXi host

    I have an ESXi 5.0 free host with an internal datastore of 7.2K 5 disk RAID 5 using a PERC 710 mini RAID controller in a Dell Poweredge R620 Server with 32GB Ram and a 12 Core Xeon. I seem to get slow write speeds in the guests so I checked out ESXTOP and I see 15MB/s write speed there on this host, which is comprable to the guests. What could be causing such horrible write speeds? Is RAID 5 really this slow to write??

  • Winamp playing sound but no video

    I am having problems playing video in Winamp (the movie I am trying to play is an AVI - not sure if other formats work). I have installed the K-Lite Codec Pack, and the video does work in Winamp Classic. I can also play the video in Winamp on another machine (although I can't remember the exact configuration details of that machine - and I don't think they're relevant). There are a few symptoms: The content of the Video view is either empty, transparent, or displays rendering from other programs. Opening the Visualization view shows the following error: MILKDROP ERROR DirectX initialization failed (GetDeviceCaps). This means that no valid 3D-accelerated display adapter could be found on your computer. If you know this is not the case, it is possible that your graphics subsystem is unstable; please try rebooting your computer and then try to run the plugin again. Otherwise, please install a 3D-accelerated display adapter. Trying to open streams via the SHOUTCast TV plugin shows Error opening video output, and the video does not open. Opening the file with WMC causes the following error (although the movie still plays): Error creating DX9 allocation presenter CreateDevice failed D3DERR_NOTAVAILABLE There are no warnings displayed in Device Manager, although the display adapter is the standard Windows one. Running DxDiag shows no problems (codec for Video listed as XviD 1.1.2 Final). GSpot reports that codecs are installed. System specs: - Windows Server 2008 r2 Standard 64-bit, with latest updates; - .NET 3.5.1 installed; - Winamp v5.6.01 (latest version); - DirectX 11 (Latest version); - K-Lite Codec Pack 7.0.0 (Full); - Machine is HP DC7600 - full specs here. Please comment if there is any more information which will help to diagnose the problem.
