• Gzip not working in browser

  According to whatsmyip.org none of my browsers (Firefox, Chrome etc) on W7 are gzip enabled, it's saying 'NO, your browser is not requesting compressed content' which agrees with Chrome developer tools as I was testing a site and it was complaining that the page and css etc weren't compressed. I've searched for an answer but cannot find anything for this. I've tested from another pc connected to the router and that works fine, something on this pc is broke.... Any help tia

Is there another way using some kind of existing software that will let me execute a job every minute, but that won't launch another instance if that job doesn't return (i.e. because the search engine process has failed)?

• Cisco 861 Router forces one-to-one NAT

  I have a cisco 861 router that only allows one-to-one NATs in order to access the Internet. I would like for computers to get an address via DHCP from this router, and be able to access the Internet without needing to set a static NAT to one of my public IPs. What is wrong with the configuration? I have a basic understanding of the IOS CLI, most of the configuration file (edited for content) was created by my company's long gone Senior Network Engineer.

• How do I configure Gnome 3 so that it doesn't pop up a dialog for 'open with files' when I mount a drive?

  I am running Gnome 3 on Ubuntu 11.10. In the file manager, when I click a drive under 'Devices', Gnome 3 always pops up a dialog with the choices 'open with files' and 'eject' and then I need to click 'open with files' to get rid of that dialog. Is there a way to configure Gnome 3 not to do that? I am in file manager already, clicking a drive should show the content in the right pane. Why does it still ask me to 'open with files'?

  My question is: why if I run some file with name aliases for example with content such as: alias lsa="ls -a" directly: $ ./aliases it don't create the alias (may be only in script context). But if I run it with command "source": $ source aliases it do the work? I mean after execution the alias "lsa" existing in context of command shell? "man source" give: "No manual entry for source", and in google I just found that it runs Tcl, but why Tcl influence shell context and bush not?

  Possible Duplicate: sudo unable to write to /etc/profile I want to do: echo "something" >> /etc/config_file But, since only the root user has write permission to this file, I can't do that. But this: sudo echo "something" >> /etc/config_file also doesn't work. Is there any way to append to a file in that situation without having to first open it with a sudo'd editor and then appending the new content by hand?

  While connected to a VPN (SwissVPN service), a content filter at a site I'm working at blocked a web page. This was perplexing, since the local site's filter should not be able to see my traffic, right? So I assume my web browsing activity was not going through the VPN tunnel. • Streaming from a second computer

  I play games on my laptop, and they run at about 30-45 fps, which is bearable for me. But when I try to stream, the frame rate drops to 20 or lower, which is unplayable for me. I have a second computer though (a Mac, the laptop is Win7), and I'm wondering if there is anyway to stream the game content (onto Twitch.tv) from my laptop using my Mac. Its is waiting for something. So when I cancel and try to update manually on server, I see: Working copy "." lockedsvn And only after manual cleanup and update again, I get updated revision, that was really commited.   Is there a way to get rid of escape codes in terminal output? Say even if the script are sending that codes they are ignored by terminal and text displayed as is, without colors, bolds etc. I need to display terminal output on a HTML page. For now i'm using javascript to remove escape codes, but it becomes clunky cause i receive output by chars, and have to wait until all content received then update it, leading in weird effects.

  Hi, I'm trying to run a simple GWT project where I'm trying to do a simple persitence via hibernate to a HSQLDB database. The database I'm using I have been using for at least 2 years with several osgi applications without any problems. So all I done is reused the same configuration and added a simple object mapping file. The problem I have is that I get a socket creation error when ever I try to persist the object with in GWT jetty. I now the database is up and running, I can telnet to it, run OSGI projects that uses the same config with out problems. • Android app crashes on emulator - logCat shows no errors

  I have just added the SherlockActionBar library to my android project. After some small changes (FragmentActivity - SherlockFragmentActivity, getActionBar() - getSupportActionBar(), imports) it all compiled nicely. After I run the app, however, the debugger stops, as though it had encountered an exception. However, there are no errors shown in the LogCat output. I just can't wrap my head around what's going on.   Hi, I have situation in with I stucked and don't know way out. The problem is in my bigger model, but I have made small example which shows the same problem. I have 4 tables. I called them SuperParent, NamedParent, TypedParent and ParentType. NamedParent and TypedParent derives from superParent. TypedParent has one to many association with ParentType. I describe mapping for entities using queryView. The problem is then I want to get TypedParents and Include ParentType I get the following exception: An error occurred while preparing the command definition.   Problems: One of my colleague is having a wired issue today with Search Service Application in SharePoint2010.After he created the Search Service Application, he could not browse to the Search Administration (http://ybbest:5555/searchadministration.aspx?appid=6508b5cc-e19a-4bdc-89b3-05d984999e3c) ,he got 404 page not found every time he browse to the page. Analysis After some basic trouble-shooting, it turns out we can browse to any other page in the search application ,e.g. Manage Content Sources(/_admin/search/listcontentsources.aspx) or Manage Crawl Rules(/_admin/search/managecrawlrules.aspx).After some more research , we think some of the web parts in the Search Administration page might cause the problem.   I am trying to map a Texture2D resource in DirectX11 via SharpDX. The resource is declared as a ShaderResource, with Default usage and the 'Write' CPU flag specified. My call however fails with a generic exception from SharpDX: _Parent.Context.MapSubresource(_Resource, 0, SharpDX.Direct3D11.MapMode.Write, SharpDX.Direct3D11.MapFlags.None, out stream); I see from this question that it is supported. The MSDN docs and this other question hint that instead of using Context.MapSubresource() I should be using Texture2D.Map(), however, the DirectX11 Texture2D class does not define Map() (though it does for the DX10 equivalent). If I call the above with MapMode.WriteDiscard, the call succeeds but in this case the previous content of the texture is lost, which is no good when I only want to update a section of it. Has the Map() method been removed in DirectX11 or am I looking in the wrong place? Is the MapSubresource() method unsuitable or am I using it wrong?
