  • EJB3 lookup on websphere

    I'm just starting to try to learn Websphere, and I have my ejb deployed, but I cannot look it up.   • How to hide GetType() method from COM?

    I made an automation Add-In for Excel, and I made several functions (formulas). I have a class which header looks like this (it is COM visible): [ClassInterface(ClassInterfaceType.AutoDual)] [ComVisible(true)] public class Functions {} In a list of methods, I see: ToString(), Equals(), GetHashCode() and GetType() methods. Since all methods of my class are COM visible, I should somehow hide those 4. I succeeded with 3 of them: ToString(), Equals(), GetHashCode() but GetType() cannot be overriden. Here is what I did with 3 of them: [ComVisible(false)] public override string ToString() { return base.ToString(); } [ComVisible(false)] public override bool Equals(object obj) { return base.Equals(obj); } [ComVisible(false)] public override int GetHashCode() { return base.GetHashCode(); } This doesn't work: [ComVisible(false)] public override Type GetType() { return base.GetType(); } Here is the error message in Visual Studio when compile: ..GetType()': cannot override inherited member 'object.GetType()' because it is not marked virtual, abstract, or override So, what should I do to hide the GetType() method from COM?

Unless I assign x to the Ajax.Request e.g. x=new Ajax.Request(urly,options). It then will alert [Object object]. How can I return the value of transport.responseText to the onclick function?

    hello, i have dropdownlist of year which is coming dynamically.i have filled the dropdownlist using object datasource.on inserting in the listview control it is working fine. but when i click on edit button that dropdownlist value should be set which is coming from the database. e.g. if i have a row which contains Year=2006 and month="Jan" then on click on edit button these dropdown list should be fill up. i have written the code in ItemDataBound to set the value of the dropdownlilst.but when i use findcontrol its taking null so object reference error is coming. so please provide me the solution. thanks samir

    I am trying to populate GridView, using EntityDataSource(code behind), I need to able to sort GridView. Each dictionary is filled by string. I used the following way.   • Python: convert buffer type of SQLITE column into string

    I am new to Python 2.6. I have been trying to fetch date datetime value which is in yyyy-mm-dd hh:m:ss format back in my Python program. On checking the column type in Python I get the error: 'buffer' object has no attribute 'decode'. I want to use the strptime() function to split the date data and use it but I can't find how to convert a buffer to string.     Its great when you can return a null/empty object in most cases to avoid nulls, but what about Collection like objects? In Java, Map returns null if key in get(key) is not found in the map. The best way I can think of to avoid nulls in this situation is to return an Entry<T> object, which is either the EmptyEntry<T>, or contains the value T. Sure we avoid the null, but now you can have a class cast exception if you don't check if its an EmptyEntry<T>. Is there a better way to avoid nulls in Map's get(K)? And for argument sake, let's say this language don't even have null, so don't say just use nulls.

  • Error details in embedded IronPython

    Hi, I'm executing IronPython in my application. A script produces an UnboundNameException with the message "name 'source' is not defined". Because the script is correct in my opinion I would need more error information, but I'm not able to get them from the exception. The exception itself seems not to contain any information about line number of the source of the exception or something like this. I searched on Google, but all available information seems to be outdated. The Data dictionary of my exception is empty which means that Data["PythonExceptionInfo"] does not exist. The file version of my IronPython assembly is 2.0.20209.0 Any hint how to get more error details? cheers, Achim

    I have simple map-reduce type algorithm, which I want to implement in python and make use of multiple cores. I read somewhere that threads using native thread module in 2.6 dont make use of multiple cores. is that true?     I'm switching from scala 2.7 and ordered to scala 2.8 and using ordering. It looks quite straight forward but I was wondering could I make it a little less verbose. For example: scala> case class A(i: Int) defined class A scala> object A extends Ordering[A] { def compare(o1: A, o2: A) = o1.i - o2.i} defined module A If I then try to create a TreeMap I get an error scala> new collection.immutable.TreeMap[A, String]() <console>:10: error: could not find implicit value for parameter ordering: Ordering[A] new collection.immutable.TreeMap[A, String]() ^ However if I explicitly specify the object A as the ordering it works fine. scala> new collection.immutable.TreeMap[A, String]()(A) res34: scala.collection.immutable.TreeMap[A,String] = Map() Do I always have to explicitly specify the ordering or is there a shorter format?   • COM/DCOM problem when hosting executable is run as a service

    I am struggling for days now with the following problem: We have an executable that hosts a COM server, say x.exe. The COM object is instantiated as follows on the calling site: hRes = CoCreateInstance(CLSID_InterceptX, NULL, CLSCTX_SERVER, IID_IInterceptX, (void**)&pInterceptX); It all works fine when x runs as an regular application. We have a tool (I don't know how it works) that encapsulates x.exe so that it runs as a service under Windows (x.exe is a running process). In this case, we never receive a COM call in x.exe (validated by logging). Here is the weird part: From logging the calling site, I can tell that the COM object has been successfully instantiated and also the call to an interface function does not produce an error (SUCEEDED(hres) is true). Any ideas?

    I want to create a specific generic method in Scala. It takes two parameters. The first is of the type of a generic Java Interface (it's from the JPA criteria query). It currently looks like this: def genericFind(attribute:SingularAttribute[Person, _], value:Object) { ... } // The Java Interface which is the type of the first parameter in my find-method: public interface SingularAttribute<X, T> extends Attribute<X, T>, Bindable<T> Now i want to achieve the following: value is currently of type java.lang.Object. But I want to make it more specific. Value has to be the of the same type as the placeholder "_" from the first parameter (and so represents the "T" in the Java interface). Is that somehow possible, and how? BTW Sorry for the stupid question title (any suggestions?)

    I need to retrieve the name of the stored procedure that a crystal report is running. Is there any way to do this in C# using the CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument object? I can't seem to find a property that will give me the stored procedure name. Is this even possible? I've been through almost all the properties I can think of. The DataDefinition object has collections for the Formula, Parameter, Group Name, and Running Total Fields, but not one for the Database Fields.

    I have a method and I want different users to pass me xml files. These files will have different names for the elements I am looking for and the elements I am looking for maybe at different structures. My first impression was that we should just tell them to pass in the xml in a standard format. However this is how they have their data and they insist that it is much easier if they don't have to convert it. What can I do to take in data of all types?   • How to handle value types when embedding IronPython in C#?

    There is a well known issue when it comes to using .NET value types in IronPython. This has recently caused me a headache when trying to use Python as an embedded scripting language in C#. The problem can be summed up as follows: Given a C# struct such as: struct Vector { public float x; public float y; } And a C# class such as: class Object { public Vector position; } The following will happen in IronPython: obj = Object() print obj.position.x # prints ‘0’ obj.position.x = 1 print obj.position.x # still prints ‘0’ As the article states, this means that value types are mostly immutable. However, this is a problem as I was planning on using a vector library that is implemented as seen above. Are there any workarounds for working with existing libraries that rely on value types? Modifying the library would be the very last resort, but I'd rather avoid that.

This leads me with (I think) three solutions: Sort rules before passing them into the evaluator. Change the parameter type to something that enforces a sort order. Sort within the evaluator. I like option 3 because it always ensures that it is sorted and I like option 1 because it seems more cohesive. And option 2 seems like a good compromise. Is a scenario like this context specific/subjective, or is there really a best practice to be applied here?

What can I use?
