  • Geolocation and jQuery - Can't post results using ajax

    - by etombaugh
I'm currently working on a project to make a location-aware site. In essence, the user comes to the page, and their location is found using the HTML5 method and then using jQuery, the location is posted to a page which saves the location/address to a codeigniter session, but if they want to update their location, or change to a different location(IE they want to use their work address as the location instead of their present address), theres a jQuery colorbox that displays and lets them type in a custom address. Everything works flawlessly to get the initial location, but when I try and get the updated location saved, I receive the error "Uncaught TypeError: Object [object DOMWindow] has no method 'lat'" which then Google Chrome references as being an error not in jQuery, but in the file for Google Maps API. Any suggestions? jQuery('.inputsubmit').click(function() { //Takes values from user submitted fields and parses them into an address string var street = jQuery('.inputaddress').val(); var city = jQuery('.inputcity').val(); var state = jQuery('.inputstate').val(); var address = street +" "+ city +", " +state; geocoder = new google.maps.Geocoder(); var geocoderresult= geocoder.geocode({'address': address}, function(results, status) { if (status == google.maps.GeocoderStatus.OK) { var newlocation = results[0].geometry.location; //Posts coordinates and address string to a CodeIgniter function to update users session information jQuery.post("somepage", {location: newlocation, address: address},function(data) { alert("Data Loaded: " + data); }); } else { alert("Geocoder failed due to: " + status); } }); }); I've tried everything I can think of to get the post to work. All of the code works up till the point, and I've commented out the post line and everything works correctly. This is one of our main website's features, to provide instant and quick results based off of location. Thanks!

  • Python __subclasses__() not listing subclasses

    - by Mridang Agarwalla
I cant seem to list all derived classes using the __subclasses__() method. Here's my directory layout: import.py backends __init__.py --digger __init__.py base.py test.py --plugins plugina_plugin.py From import.py i'm calling test.py. test.py in turn iterates over all the files in the plugins directory and loads all of them. test.py looks like this: import os import sys import re sys.path.append(os.path.join(os.path.abspath(os.path.dirname(os.path.abspath( __file__ ))))) sys.path.append(os.path.join(os.path.abspath(os.path.dirname(os.path.abspath( __file__ ))), 'plugins')) from base import BasePlugin class TestImport: def __init__(self): print 'heeeeello' PLUGIN_DIRECTORY = os.path.join(os.path.abspath(os.path.dirname(os.path.abspath( __file__ ))), 'plugins') for filename in os.listdir (PLUGIN_DIRECTORY): # Ignore subfolders if os.path.isdir (os.path.join(PLUGIN_DIRECTORY, filename)): continue else: if re.match(r".*?_plugin\.py$", filename): print ('Initialising plugin : ' + filename) __import__(re.sub(r".py", r"", filename)) print ('Plugin system initialized') print BasePlugin.__subclasses__() The problem us that the __subclasses__() method doesn't show any derived classes. All plugins in the plugins directory derive from a base class in the base.py file. base.py looks like this: class BasePlugin(object): """ Base """ def __init__(self): pass plugina_plugin.py looks like this: from base import BasePlugin class PluginA(BasePlugin): """ Plugin A """ def __init__(self): pass Could anyone help me out with this? Whatm am i doing wrong? I've racked my brains over this but I cant seem to figure it out Thanks.

  • How to store a file on a server(web container) through a Java EE web application?

    - by Yatendra Goel
I have developed a Java EE web application. This application allows a user to upload a file with the help of a browser. Once the user has uploaded his file, this application first stores the uploaded file on the server (on which it is running) and then processes it. At present, I am storing the file on the server as follows: try { FormFile formFile = programForm.getTheFile(); // formFile represents the uploaded file String path = getServlet().getServletContext().getRealPath("") + "/" + formFile.getFileName(); System.out.println(path); file = new File(path); outputStream = new FileOutputStream(file); outputStream.write(formFile.getFileData()); } where, the formFile represents the uploaded file. Now, the problem is that it is running fine on some servers but on some servers the getServlet().getServletContext().getRealPath("") is returning null so the final path that I am getting is null/filename and the file doesn't store on the server. When I checked the API for ServletContext.getRealPath() method, I found the following: public java.lang.String getRealPath(java.lang.String path) Returns a String containing the real path for a given virtual path. For example, the path "/index.html" returns the absolute file path on the server's filesystem would be served by a request for "http://host/contextPath/index.html", where contextPath is the context path of this ServletContext. The real path returned will be in a form appropriate to the computer and operating system on which the servlet container is running, including the proper path separators. This method returns null if the servlet container cannot translate the virtual path to a real path for any reason (such as when the content is being made available from a .war archive). So, Is there any other way by which I can store files on those servers also which is returning null for getServlet().getServletContext().getRealPath("")

  • how do I insert an hidden token in my form to prevent double posts? (PHP)

    - by jpjp
I want to prevent users from accidentally posting a comment twice. I use the PRG (post redirect get) method, so that I insert the data on another page then redirect the user back to the page which shows the comment. This allows users to refresh as many times as they want. However this doesn't work when the user goes back and clicks submit again or when they click submit 100 times really fast. I don't want 100 of the same comments. I looked at related questions on SO and found that a token is best. But I am having trouble using it. //makerandomtoken(20) returns a random 20 length char. <form method="post" ... > <input type="text" id="comments" name="comments" class="commentbox" /><br/> <input type="hidden" name="_token" value="<?php echo $token=makerandomtoken(20); ?>" /> <input type="submit" value="submit" name="submit" /> </form> if (isset($_POST['submit']) && !empty($comments)) { $comments= mysqli_real_escape_string($dbc,trim($_POST['comments'])); //how do I make the if-statment to check if the token has been already set once? if ( ____________){ //don't insert comment because already clicked submit } else{ //insert the comment into the database } } So I have the token as a hidden value, but how do I use that to prevent multiple clicking of submit.

  • connecting to MySQL using JDBC in eclipse

    - by Noona
Hello, So I want to create a JDBC connection to MySQL server that is installed on my pc, here are the steps, I installed MySQL with the username and password "root", downloaded mysql-connector-java and from theere I coped the JAR "mysql-connector-java-5.1.12-bin" to "C:\Sun\SDK\jdk\jre\lib\ext", I then added it as an external JAR in my project in eclipse, now in my class I have this code: public void initialiseDatabase() { try { // Load the Driver class. Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"); //Create the connection using the static getConnection method databaseConnection = DriverManager.getConnection (databaseUrl+databaseName, dbUserName, dbPassword); sqlStatement = databaseConnection.createStatement(); } catch (SQLException e) {e.printStackTrace();} catch (Exception e) {e.printStackTrace();} } (this is going to be psuedocode cause I am reading from a properties file and don't want the one helping me reading through long lines of code from main to figure out all the variables), where databaseUrl = "127.0.0.1" dbUserName = "root" dbPassword = "root" databaseName = "MySQL" //this one I am not sure of, do I need to create it or is it set inherenrly? now the MySQL server is up and running, but when I call the method initialiseDatabase the following exception is thrown: "java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver found for rootroot at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(Unknown Source) at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(Unknown Source) at Proxy$JDBCConnection.initialiseDatabase(Proxy.java:721)" when line 721 is: sqlStatement = databaseConnection.createStatement(); Where have I gone wrong? thanks

  • debugging scaffolding contingent upon degbugging boolean (java)

    - by David
Recently i've found myself writing a lot of methods with what i can only think to call debugging scaffolding. Here's an example: public static void printArray (String[] array, boolean bug) { for (int i = 0; i<array.lenght; i++) { if (bug) System.out.print (i) ; //this line is what i'm calling the debugging scaffolding i guess. System.out.println(array[i]) ; } } in this method if i set bug to true, wherever its being called from maybe by some kind of user imput, then i get the special debugging text to let me know what index the string being printed as at just in case i needed to know for the sake of my debugging (pretend a state of affairs exists where its helpful). All of my questions more or less boil down to the question: is this a good idea? but with a tad bit more objectivity: Is this an effective way to test my methods and debug them? i mean effective in terms of efficiency and not messing up my code. Is it acceptable to leave the if (bug) stuff ; code in place after i've got my method up and working? (if a definition of "acceptability" is needed to make this question objective then use "is not a matter of programing controversy such as ommiting brackets in an if(boolean) with only one line after it, though if you've got something better go ahead and use your definition i won't mind) Is there a more effective way to accomplish the gole of making debugging easier than what i'm doing? Anything you know i mean to ask but that i have forgotten too (as much information as makes sense is appreciated).

  • In JSF - What is the correct way to do this? Two dropdown lists with dependency.

    - by Ben
Hi, I'm making two dropdown lists in JSF which are dependent. Specifically, one list has all the languages and the second list contains values that are displayed in the currently selected language. I've implemented this by having the second list use information from a Hash and rebuilding that Hash in the setter of the currently selected language. JSF Code Bit: <rich:dropDownMenu value="#{bean.currentlySelectedLanguage}" id="languageSelector"> ... (binding to languages hash) ... <rich:dropDownMenu value="#{bean.currentlySelectedScript}" id="ScriptPullDown"> ... (binding to scripts hash) ... Backing Bean Code Bit: setCurrentlySelectedLanguage(String lang){ this.currentlySelectedLanguage = lang; rebuildScriptNames(lang); } I'm wondering if that's a good way of doing this or if theres a better method that I am not aware of. Thank you! EDIT - Adding info.. I used a a4j:support that with event="onchange" and ReRender="ScriptPullDown" to rerender the script pull down. I could probably add an action expression to run a method when the value changes. But is there a benefit to doing this over using code in the setter function?

  • AVAudioPlayer not unloading cached memory after each new allocation

    - by Rob
I am seeing in Instruments that when I play a sound via the standard "AddMusic" example method that Apple provides, it allocates 32kb of memory via the prepareToPlay call (which references the AudioToolBox framework's Cache_DataSource::ReadBytes function) each time a new player is allocated (i.e. each time a different sound is played). However, that cached data never gets released. This obviously poses a huge problem if it doesn't get released and you have a lot of sound files to play, since it tends to keep allocating memory and eventually crashes if you have enough unique sound files (which I unfortunately do). Have any of you run across this or what am I doing wrong in my code? I've had this issue for a while now and it's really bugging me since my code is verbatim of what Apple's is (I think). How I call the function: - (void)playOnce:(NSString *)aSound { // Gets the file system path to the sound to play. NSString *soundFilePath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:aSound ofType:@"caf"]; // Converts the sound's file path to an NSURL object NSURL *soundURL = [[NSURL alloc] initFileURLWithPath: soundFilePath]; self.soundFileURL = soundURL; [soundURL release]; AVAudioPlayer * newAudio=[[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithContentsOfURL: soundFileURL error:nil]; self.theAudio = newAudio; // automatically retain audio and dealloc old file if new m4a file is loaded [newAudio release]; // release the audio safely // this is where the prior cached data never gets released [theAudio prepareToPlay]; // set it up and play [theAudio setNumberOfLoops:0]; [theAudio setVolume: volumeLevel]; [theAudio setDelegate: self]; [theAudio play]; } and then theAudio gets released in the dealloc method of course.

  • onTouchListener togglebutton, ignores first press?

    - by Paul
I have a togglebutton that should run code when I press it down and more code when I let go. However the first time I press and let go nothing happens. Every other time it is fine, why is this? I can see the method only runs the first time when I let go of the button (it does not trigger any onTouch part of the method though), how can I get around this, and have it work for the first press? public void pushtotalk3(final View view) { ((ToggleButton) view).setChecked(true); ((ToggleButton) view).setChecked(false); view.setOnTouchListener(new OnTouchListener() { @Override public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event) { //if more than one call, change this code int callId = 0; for (SipCallSession callInfo : callsInfo) { callId = callInfo.getCallId(); Log.e(TAG, "" + callInfo.getCallId()); } final int id = callId; switch (event.getAction()) { case MotionEvent.ACTION_DOWN: { //press ((ToggleButton) view).setBackgroundResource(R.drawable.btn_blue_glossy); ((ToggleButton) view).setChecked(true); OnDtmf(id, 17, 10); OnDtmf(id, 16, 9); return true; } case MotionEvent.ACTION_UP: { //release ((ToggleButton) view).setBackgroundResource(R.drawable.btn_lightblue_glossy); ((ToggleButton) view).setChecked(false); OnDtmf(id, 18, 11); OnDtmf(id, 18, 11); return true; } default: return false; } } }); } EDIT: the xml for the button: <ToggleButton android:id="@+id/PTT_button5" android:layout_width="0dp" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:text="@string/ptt5" android:onClick="pushtotalk5" android:layout_weight="50" android:textOn="Push To Talk On" android:textOff="Push To Talk Off" android:background="@drawable/btn_lightblue_glossy" android:textColor="@android:color/white" android:textSize="15sp" /> EDIT: hardware problem, can't test solutions atm.

  • RestSharp post object to WCF

    - by steve
Im having an issue posting an object to my wcf rest webservice. On the WCF side I have the following: [WebInvoke(UriTemplate = "", Method = "POST")] public void Create(myObject object) { //save some stuff to the db } When im debugging this never gets hit - it does however get hit when I remove the parameter so im guessing ive done something wrong on the restSharp side of things. Heres my code for that part: var client = new RestClient(ApiBaseUri); var request = new RestRequest(Method.POST); request.RequestFormat = DataFormat.Xml; request.AddBody(myObject); var response = client.Execute(request); Am I doing this wrong? How can the WCF side see my object? What way should I be making the reqest? Or should I be handling it differently WCF side? Things ive tried: request.AddObject(myObject); and request.AddBody(request.XmlSerialise.serialise(myObject)); Any help and understanding in what could possibly be wrong would be much appreciated. Thanks.

  • Problem accessing variable in a nested form partial

    - by brad
    I have a nested form in a rails view that is called like this <% f.fields_for :invoice_item_numbers do |item_no_form| %> <%= render 'invoice_item_number', :f => item_no_form %> <% end %> and the partial (_invoice_item_number.html.erb) looks like this <div class='invoice_item_numbers'> <% if f.object.new_record? %> <li><%= f.label :item_number %><%= f.text_field :item_number %> <%= link_to_function "remove", "$(this).parent().remove()", :class => 'remove_link' %></li> <% else %> <li class="inline"><%= f.label :item_number %><%= f.text_field :item_number %> </li><li class="inline"><%= f.label :description %><%= invoice_item_number.description %></li><li><%= f.label :amount %><%= f.text_field :amount %> <%= f.check_box '_destroy', :class => 'remove_checkbox' %> <%= f.label '_destroy', 'remove', :class => 'remove_label' %></li> <% end %> </div> This fails with the error message undefined method `description' for nil:NilClass Why does invoice_item_number return a nil object in this partial? It is obviously being defined somehow because if I change it to something else (e.g. item_number.description then the error message becomes undefined local variable or methoditem_number' for #instead. The invoice_item_number object that is being displayed by this partial is being used perfectly well by the form helpers as<%= f.text_field :item_number %and<% f.text_field :amount %both work perfectly well. I have tried a number of solutions such as using@invoice_item_number` and explicitly defining an object in the render method but these have not worked. Presumably there is a very simple answer to this.

  • MVC 2 - Name Attributes on HTML Input Field when using Parent/Child Entities

    - by Click Ahead
Hi All, I'm pretty new to MVC 2 using the Entity Framework. I have two tables Company {ID int identity PK,Name nvarchar} and User {ID int identity PK,UserName nvarchar,CompanyID int FK}. A Foreign Key exists between User and Company. I generated my ADO.NET Entity Data Model, a Controller and a view to insert a record. My HTML form has the fields Company and UserName and the idea is when I click save a Company and User is inserted into the database. Sounds straight forward right! My question is as follows: I created a strongly-typed view derived from my 'User' entity. I'm using the the html helper Html.TextBoxFor(model = model.Organisation.Name) but the html name attribute for this input field is 'Organisation.Name'. My problem with this is that the dot throws up all sorts of issues in JQuery, which sees this as a property. If I want to change the name I read that I can use DataAnnotations but because I used the Entity Designer this involves using Buddy Classes. Seems like a bit of overkill just to change the html name attribute on this input field. Am I approaching this the right way or am I missing something here? Thanks for the help !

  • Cannot use await in Portable Class Library for Win 8 and Win Phone 8

    - by Harry Len
I'm attempting to create a Portable Class Library in Visual Studio 2012 to be used for a Windows 8 Store app and a Windows Phone 8 app. I'm getting the following error: 'await' requires that the type 'Windows.Foundation.IAsyncOperation' have a suitable GetAwaiter method. Are you missing a using directive for 'System'? At this line of code: StorageFolder guidesInstallFolder = await Package.Current.InstalledLocation.GetFolderAsync(guidesFolder); My Portable Class Library is targeted at .NET Framework 4.5, Windows Phone 8 and .NET for Windows Store apps. I don't get this error for this line of code in a pure Windows Phone 8 project, and I don't get it in a Windows Store app either so I don't understand why it won't work in my PCL. The GetAwaiter is an extension method in the class WindowsRuntimeSystemExtensions which is in System.Runtime.WindowsRuntime.dll. Using the Object Browser I can see this dll is available in the .NET for Windows Store apps component set and in the Windows Phone 8 component set but not in the .NET Portable Subset. I just don't understand why it wouldn't be in the Portable Subset if it's available in both my targeted platforms.

  • Performance of map overlay in conjunction with ItemizedOverlay is very poor

    - by oviroa
I am trying to display one png (drawable) on a map in about 300 points. I am retrieving the coordinates from a Sqlite table, dumping them in a cursor. When I try to display them by parsing through the cursor, it takes for ever for the images to be drawn, about .5 second per image. I find that to be suspiciously slow, so some insight on how I can increase performance would help. Here is the snippet of my code that does the rendering: while (!mFlavorsCursor.isAfterLast()) { Log.d("cursor",""+(i++)); point = new GeoPoint( (int)(mFlavorsCursor.getFloat(mFlavorsCursor.getColumnIndex(DataBaseHelper.KEY_LATITUDE))*1000000), (int)(mFlavorsCursor.getFloat(mFlavorsCursor.getColumnIndex(DataBaseHelper.KEY_LONGITUDE))*1000000)); overlayitem = new OverlayItem(point, "", ""); itemizedoverlay.addOverlay(overlayitem); itemizedoverlay.doPopulate(); mFlavorsCursor.moveToNext(); } mapOverlays.add(itemizedoverlay); I tried to isolate all the steps and it looks like the slow one is this: itemizedoverlay.doPopulate(); This is a public method in my class that extends ItemizedOverlay that runs the private populate() method.

  • Custom data forms in CakePHP

    - by Affian
I'm building a controller to manage group based ACL in CakePHP and when I create or edit a group I want to be able to select what permissions it has. The group data table only stores a group ID and a group Name as the permissions are stored in the ACO/ARO table. I have an array from the ACO that I want to turn into a set of checkboxes so you can check them to allow access from that group to that ACO. So first off, how do I turn this array into a set of checkboxes. The array looks like this: array( [0] => array( [Aco] => array( [alias] => 'alias' [id] => 1) [children] => array ( [0] => array( [Aco]=> ...etc )) [1] => array( ...etc ) My next question is how can I check these once the form has been submitted to the controller to allow the selected actions? [Update] Ok changing the angle of my question, how can I use the Form helper to create forms that are not based on any Model?

  • Memory leak when returning object

    - by Yakattak
    I have this memory leak that has been very stubborn for the past week or so. I have a class method I use in a class called "ArchiveManager" that will unarchive a specific .dat file for me, and return an array with it's contents. Here is the method: +(NSMutableArray *)unarchiveCustomObject { NSMutableArray *array = [NSMutableArray arrayWithArray:[NSKeyedUnarchiver unarchiveObjectWithFile:/* Archive Path */]]; return array; } I understand I don't have ownership of it at this point, and I return it. CustomObject *myObject = [[ArchiveManager unarchiveCustomObject] objectAtIndex:0]; Then, later when I unarchive it in a view controller to be used (I don't even create an array of it, nor do I make a pointer to it, I just reference it to get something out of the array returned by unarchiveCustomIbject (objectAtIndex). This is where Instruments is calling a memory leak, yet I don't see how this can leak! Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Edit: CustomObject initWithCoder added: -(id)initWithCoder:(NSCoder *)aDecoder { if (self = [super init]) { self.string1 = [aDecoder decodeObjectForKey:kString1]; self.string2 = [aDecoder decodeObjectForKey:kString2]; self.string3 = [aDecoder decodeObjectForKey:kString3]; UIImage *picture = [[UIImage alloc] initWithData:[aDecoder decodeObjectForKey:kPicture]]; self.picture = picture; self.array = [aDecoder decodeObjectForKey:kArray]; [picture release]; } return self; }

  • How can I find out if two arguments are instances of the same, but unknown class?

    - by Ingmar
Let us say we have a method which accepts two arguments o1 and o2 of type Object and returns a boolean value. I want this method to return true only when the arguments are instances of the same class, e.g.: foo(new Integer(4),new Integer(5)); Should return true, however: foo(new SomeClass(), new SubtypeSomeClass()); should return false and also: foo(new Integer(3),"zoo"); should return false. I believe one way is to compare the fully qualified class names: public boolean foo(Object o1, Object o2){ Class<? extends Object> c1 = o1.getClass(); Class<? extends Object> c2 = o2.getClass(); if(c1.getName().equals(c2.getName()){ return true;} return false; } An alternative conditional statement would be : if (c1.isAssignableFrom(c2) && c2.isAssignableFrom(c1)){ return true; } The latter alternative is rather slow. Are there other alternatives to this problem?

In order to prevent it from terminating I tried to stop on of the threads in the program but I cant seem to get it working. require 'rubygems' require "xmpp4r/client" require "xmpp4r/roster" include Jabber def connect client = Client.new(JID::new("[email protected]")) client.connect client.auth("test") client.send(Presence.new.set_type(:available)) client end def create_message(message, to_email) msg = Jabber::Message::new(to_email, message) msg.type = :chat msg end def subscribe(email_id) pres = Presence.new.set_type(:subscribe).set_to(email_id) pres end client = connect roster = Roster::Helper.new(client) roster.add_subscription_request_callback do |item, pres| roster.accept_subscription(pres.from) end def create_callback(client) $t4= Thread.new do client.add_message_callback do |m| puts m.body puts "................................Callback working" end end end puts "Client has connected" msg = create_message("Welcome to the winter of my discontent", "[email protected]") client.send(msg) create_callback(client) def check(client) $t3 = Thread.new do loop do puts "t3 still running........." Thread.current.stop $t4.join end end end check(client)

  • Correct use of Classloader (especially in Android)

    - by Sebi
I read some documentations about classloaders, but im still not sure where and why they are needed. The Android API says: Loads classes and resources from a repository. One or more class loaders are installed at runtime. These are consulted whenever the runtime system needs a specific class that is not yet available in-memory. So if i understand this correct, there can be many classlaoders which are responsible for loading new classes. But how the system decides which to use? And in which situation should a developer instantiate a new classloader? In the Android API for Intent there is a method public void setExtrasClassLoader (ClassLoader loader) The description says: Sets the ClassLoader that will be used when unmarshalling any Parcelable values from the extras of this Intent. So can i define there a special classloader so that i can pass object with an Intent which are not defined in the receiving activity? An example: If activity A which is located in Project A (in Eclipse) defines an object which i want to send to Activity B in Project B using putExtra of the Intent object. If this object which is send over the Intent is not defined (source code in project B), then there is a NoClassDefFoundException. So can i use the method setExtraClassloader to avoid this exception? If yes, how can i decide which classloader object i have to pass? And how do I instantiate it correctly?

  • Can I stop the dbml designer from adding a connection string to the dbml file?

    - by drs9222
We have a custom function AppSettings.GetConnectionString() which is always called to determine the connection string that should be used. How this function works is unimportant to the discussion. It suffices to say that it returns a connection string and I have to use it. I want my LINQ to SQL DataContext to use this so I removed all connection string informatin from the dbml file and created a partial class with a default constructor like this: public partial class SampleDataContext { public SampleDataContext() : base(AppSettings.GetConnectionString()) { } } This works fine until I use the designer to drag and drop a table into the diagram. The act of dragging a table into the diagram will do several unwanted things: A settings file will be created A app.config file will be created My dbml file will have the connection string embedded in it All of this is done before I even save the file! When I save the diagram the designer file is recreated and it will contain its own default constructor which uses the wrong connection string. Of course this means my DataContext now has two default constructors and I can't build anymore! I can undo all of these bad things but it is annoying. I have to manually remove the connection string and the new files after each change! Is there anyway I can stop the designer from making these changes without asking? EDIT The requirement to use the AppSettings.GetConnectionString() method was imposed on me rather late in the game. I used to use something very similar to what it generates for me. There are quite a few places that call the default constructor. I am aware that change them all to create the data context in another way (using a different constructor, static method, factory, ect..). That kind of change would only be slightly annoying since it would only have to be done once. However, I feel, that it is sidestepping the real issue. The dbml file and configuration files would still contain an incorrect, if unused, connection string which at best could confuse other developers.

  • Run JavaScript code at ASP.NET page load

    - by vaibhav
I have a radiobox <asp:RadioButtonList CssClass="list" Style="width: 150px" ID="rdo_RSD_ExcerciseRoT" runat="server" Font-Bold="false" RepeatDirection="Horizontal" RepeatLayout="Table" TextAlign="Left" > <asp:ListItem Text="Yes" onclick="en();" Value="Y"></asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem Text="No" onclick="dis();" Value="N" Selected="True"></asp:ListItem> </asp:RadioButtonList> AS you may see second listitem is selected by default. But issue is, when my page is getting load dis() is not getting called. I want to run dis() on page load too. I tried google, some blogs suggest the use of Page.RegisterStartupScript Method. But I dont exactly know what is the problem and why we should use this above mentioned method. I would appreciate if someone please tell me why this function is not getting called and how to call it. Edit: I am giving Javascript code also, if it helps. <script type="text/javascript"> function dis() { ValidatorEnable(document.getElementById('<%=RequiredFieldValidator32.ClientID%>'), false); } function en() { ValidatorEnable(document.getElementById('<%=RequiredFieldValidator32.ClientID%>'), true); } </script>
