  • Is there a pure-managed DirectX wrapper?

    I'm currently in need of a purely managed code DirectX wrapper for .NET. While SlimDX is great, its use of unmanaged code makes it impossible to perform proper dead code analysis on, for the purpose of merging it into your assemblies. With a pure managed wrapper, I'd be able to include just the pieces I use in my assembly, allowing very, very small binaries (my goal is to be able to write 64k demos entirely using .NET). Does such a thing exist, or am I going to be getting intimate with P/Invoke?

  • Accessing the project system from a Visual Studio MEF Editor extension

    I'm writing a Visual Studio editor extension using the VS 2010 SDK RC. I'd like to be able to figure out what the references of the current project are. How do I get access to the project corresponding to the current editor? The documentation on editor extensions doesn't seem to include information on how to access non-editor parts of Visual Studio. I did some searching and it looks like in VS2008 you could write add-ins that would access the project system, but I'm trying to get at this functionality from a MEF editor extension.

  • Binding Silverlight UserControl custom properties to its' elements

    Hi. I'm trying to make a simple crossword puzzle game in Silverlight 2.0. I'm working on a UserControl-ish component that represents a square in the puzzle. I'm having trouble with binding up my UserControl's properties with its' elements. I've finally (sort of) got it working (may be helpful to some - it took me a few long hours), but wanted to make it more 'elegant'. I've imagined it should have a compartment for the content and a label (in the upper right corner) that optionally contains its' number. The content control probably be a TextBox, while label control could be a TextBlock.   • Help w/ Sluggish "rake cucumber"

    I've been trying to debug some super slow performance in running my cucumber features. I've run various calls through ruby-prof and think I see the bottlenecks (not too familiar with using ruby-prof) but do not know the cause or more important the solution.   • "ResolveAssemblyReference" task fails and System.BadImageFormatException, but assembly isn't used an

    I am getting an error about the assembly "C:\Ora10g\bin\Zip.exe". The trouble is this solution does NOT use anything in Oracle at all. I could not find a single reference to 10g anywhere in the project. I inherited this from another person who left our group. He never had this issue. Another member of my team said he got this before but reinstalling the client portion of 10g fixed it. No such luck there. I even tried using WinGrep to search the entire solution folder for "Ora10g" but it wasn't there. Any ideas? I can't build this solution until I can figure out how to get rid of this false reference to Oracle. VS 2005 solution. Contains a couple WinForm apps, a couple class libraries, and a web service.     I have my little designer tool (my program). On the left side I have TreeView and on the right site I have Accordion. When I select a node I want to dynamically build Accordion Items based on Properties from DataContext of selected node. Selecting nodes works fine, and when I use this sample code for testing it works also.   • WPF DataTemplates with VS2010 designer support + reusable - would you do it that way?

    Ok, I am currently tidying up all my old stuff. I ran into the issue of "code only DataTemplates" - which are really a pain in the ass. You can't see anything, they are really hard to design, and I want to improve my project. So I had the idea to use the following solution. The main benefits are: You have designer support for your data template You can easily include example sample data The file naming is consistent and easy to remember The preview does not require an additional XAML wrapper (even with code only controls) I will try to explain and illustrate my solution using a few pictures. I am interested in feedback, especially if you can imagine a better way to do it. And, of course, if you see any maintenance or performance issues. Ok, lets start with a simple PreviewObject. I want to have some data in it, so I create a subclass which will automatically fill in some dummy data. Then I add a list to the control, and name this list. Afterwards I add a DataTemplate, this is the sole reason for the whole control (to be able to see and edit the DataTemplate in place): Now I use this control to get my DataTemplate, to use it in other places. To make this easier, I added some code in the code behind, see here: Now I want a control to show me a list of PreviewItems, so I created a "code-only" control which creates an instance of my service (or gets one using DI in real world) and fills its list box with it: To view the result of this work, I added this control inside the same named XAML, this is basically only to be able to see the final result: What I do not like in this solution: The need to create the last control in "code only". So I tried something different while writing this post. The following two screenshots illustrate the approach. I am creating an instance of the service inside the DataContext, and I am using bindings to supply the Itemssourc and the ItemTemplate. The reason for the strange "static property" is refactoring support. If I hardcode the path in the designer (e.g. using "Path = PreviewHistory") and I refactor the names (which happens quite often, early design phase) - I screw up my controls without realizing it.   • WPF - Only want one expander open at a time

    I have a UserControl with a templated grouped listbox with expanders and only want one expander open at any time. I have browsed through the site but haven't found anything except binding the IsExpanded to IsSelected which isn't quite what I want. I am trying to put some code in the Expanded event that would loop through Expanders and close all the ones that aren't the expander passed in the Expanded event. I can't seem to figure out how to get at them. I've tried ListBox.Items.Groups but didn't see how to get at them and tried ListBox.ItemContainerGenerator.ContainerFromItem (or Index) but nothing came back.     Is there any way of retrieving an absolute URL for a file on a mounted volume in Cocoa? For example, say afp://server/Documents is mounted at /Volumes/Documents. How can I get full URL to a file on the mounted volume in the form of afp://server/Documents/path/to/file? I've tried using statfs but the value of f_mntfromname doesn't contain a url, it contains the same value that is given by the mount command.

    I have app that is running Ruby 1.9.2, Rails 3, and postgreSQL 8.3. It was originally setup and working with postgreSQL 9.1, but I uninstalled 9.1 and installed and changed to 8.3 insure compatibility on a Heroku shared database setup.   • SSIS DTS Package flat file error - "The file name specified in the connection was not valid"

    I have a pretty basic SSIS package that is attempting to read a file hosted on a share, and import its contents to a database table. The package runs fine when I run it manually within SSIS. However, when I set up a SQL Agent job and attempt to execute it, I get the following error: Executed as user: DOMAIN\UserName. This leads me to believe it's a permissions issue, but every attempt I've made to fix it has failed. What I've tried so far: Run as the SQL Agent account (DOMAIN\SqlAgent) - yields same error. DOMAIN\SqlAgent has "Full Control" permissions on both the share and the uploaded file. Set up a proxy account with a different account's credentials (DOMAIN\Account) - yields same error. Like above, "Full Control" permissions were given over the share to that account. Gave "Everyone" full control permissions over the share (temporarily!). Yielded same error. Manually copied the file to a local path and tested with the SQL Agent account. Worked properly. Added an ActiveX script task that would first copy the remotely hosted file to a local path, and then have the DTS package reference the local file. Gave a completely nondescriptive (even by SSIS standards) error when trying to run the script. Set up a proxy account, using my own personal account's credentials - worked correctly. However, this is not an acceptable solution as there are password policies in place on my account, as well as being a bad practice to set things up this way in general. Any ideas? I'm still convinced it's a permissions issue. However, what I've read from various searches more or less says giving the executing account permissions on the share should work. However, this is not the case here (unless I'm missing something obscure when I'm setting up permissions on the share).

    I'm working an project (pure hobby, "Sharping my skills") which has one unified back-end and multiple front-ends (ASP.NET MVC 1.0/JQuery and Silverlight 2). When I try to add reference to my business layer assembly in the Silverlight 2 project (VS2008); It gets rejected, because it's not a Silverlight assembly. Is their a way to include and reference a non-Silverlight assembly in a Silverlight app?
