  • PIL's Image.show() brings up *two* different viewers

    When toying with images in the python shell, I use image.show(), where image is an instance of Image. Long ago nothing happened, but after defining a symlink to mirage named "xv", I was happy. The last few days, show() will bring up both ImageMagick's display and also Mirage. It's not clear where show() gets information on what to run. Documentation wasn't helpful. How to make it behave and bring up only what it thinks is xv?

  • segfault on vector<struct>

    Hello, I created a struct to hold some data and then declared a vector to hold that struct. But when I do a push_back I get damn segfault and I have no idea why! My struct is defines as: typedef struct Group { int codigo; string name; int deleted; int printers; int subpage; /*included this when it started segfaulting*/ Group(){ name.reserve(MAX_PRODUCT_LONG_NAME); } ~Group(){ name.clear(); } Group(const Group &b) { codigo = b.codigo; name = b.name; deleted = b.deleted; printers = b.printers; subpage = b.subpage; } /*end of new stuff*/ }; Originally, the struct didn't have the copy, constructor or destructor. I added them latter when I read this post below. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/676575/seg-fault-after-is-item-pushed-onto-stl-container but the end result is the same. There is one this that is bothering me as hell! When I first push some data into the vector, everything goes fine. Later on in the code when I try to push some more data into the vector, my app just segfaults! The vector is declared vector<Group> Groups and is a global variable to the file where I am using it. No externs anywhere else, etc... I can trace the error to: _M_deallocate(this->_M_impl._M_start, this->_M_impl._M_end_of_storage- this->_M_impl._M_start); in vector.tcc when I finish adding/copying the last element to the vector.... As far as I can tell. I shouldn't be needing anything to do with a copy constructor as a shallow copy should be enough for this. I'm not even allocating any space (but I did a reserve for the string to try out). I have no idea what the problem is! I'm running this code on OpenSuse 10.2 with gcc 4.1.2 I'm not really to eager to upgrade gcc because of backward compatibility issues... This code worked "perfectly" on my windows machine.     Well, the title seems indicating I'm a lazy guy but it's not the truth... I'm messing with this weird circumstance a whole day. My laptop is a Dell Latitude D630 which has a Oz776 (usb idVendor == 0x0b97, idProduct == 0x7772) smartcard reader, but I'm not sure if it is functioning well. It can successfully recognize my Gemplus GPK4000 smartcard and my SIM card, but not SLE5528. When inserted any PVC card with no chip or AT24C01 card, it would not choke but report immediate PowerUp failure. When I tried it on Windows(Windows 7, "runas other user", smartcard login), it chokes too while PVC cards and AT24C01 report immediate failure.

  • Get_user running at kernel mode returns error

    Hi, all, I have a problem with get_user() macro. What I did is as follows: I run the following program int main() { int a = 20; printf("address of a: %p", &a); sleep(200); return 0; } When the program runs, it outputs the address of a, say, 0xbff91914. Then I pass this address to a module running in Kernel Mode that retrieves the contents at this address (at the time when I did this, I also made sure the process didn't terminate, because I put it to sleep for 200 seconds... ): The address is firstly sent as a string, and I cast them into pointer type. int * ptr = (int*)simple_strtol(buffer, NULL,16); printk("address: %p",ptr); // I use this line to make sure the cast is correct. When running, it outputs bff91914, as expected. int val = 0; int res; res= get_user(val, (int*) ptr); However, res is always not 0, meaning that get_user returns error.   • Inode to device information

    I have 3 questions: I want to figure out if a file belongs to a USB device given the file inode. By looking in the latest kernel sources (2.6.33) on LXR, I think one can find that information by following pointers as follows: inode-super_block-block_device-backing_dev_info-device-device_driver(or device_type). However, the kernel that I am working with - 2.6.22.14 - does not have struct device pointer in the backing_dev_info object. So how can I figure out to which device does a file belong to from just the inode? I see that each of the inode, super_block and block_device contain an object of type 'dev_t'. But even after searching a lot, I could not find out how to convert 'dev_t' into struct device *. Is there any way to get that infomation? I tried to print device major and minor numbers using imajor(inode) and iminor(inode). However, for every file - belonging to hdd or usb - it always prints major and minor number as zero. Why would that be happening? I searched online for USB major numbers and I found out that major number for a USB is 180.     Sometimes, when running a Mono .NET application (it seems to not depend on the input data, as it does not change), I run into following situation: when trying to Dequeue an element from a (non-empty, I check its Count beforehand) Queue, an exception is thrown: Unhandled Exception: System.InvalidOperationException: Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object at System.Collections.Generic.Queue1[DBWorkItem].Peek ()[0x00000] at System.Collections.Generic.Queue1[DBWorkItem].Dequeue () [0x00000] at DBProcessor.process (System.Object q) [0x0006b] in <... Though I can certainly catch this exception, the element is dequeued and lost. Has anyone else encountered this behavior, too?

The following script will do most of that. sed -e '/^\/*/ d' -e '/*\/$/ d' filename This script will remove all lines that start with * and end with */. I want it to remove the line only if is meets both criteria not one.

  • What is the effect of running an application with "Unlimited Stack" size

    Hello All, I have inherited some code that I need to maintain that can be less than stable at times. The previous people are no longer available to query as to why they ran the application in an environment with unlimited stack set, I am curious what the effects of this could be? The application seems to have some unpredictable memory bugs that we cannot find and running the application under valgrind is not an option because it slows the application down so much that we cannot actually run it. So any thoughts on what the effects of this might be are appreciated. Thank you.

  • error loading (TypeLoadException) on asp.net/xsp/mono on debian/opensuse

    When i reset apache and load my website i get the first error below. I have no idea what the problem is. If i reload the page again (without restarting apache) i get the 2nd error, probably because the first error occurred and BaseUser is the first class/func that Application_Start uses. Why am i getting this load exception? Whats messed up is i tried using mono's VMWare img to debug it and i got the very same exception (until i restarted which now refuses to give me anything but 404 errors).   • xstream and ibm j9 sdk incompatibilities on linux

    I encountered an incompatibility with xstream and IBM J9 jdk (the 32bits version). Everything worked fine when I used sun jdk but fails on IBM jdk (on linux only. on windows it's ok with both jdks). When debugging, the error appears to be that xstream uses a java.util.TreeSet internally but the set's iterator returns elements in the wrong order (I know this sounds very strange, but this is the behavior that I saw). Googling for related bugs didn't give any meaningful results I tried upgrading pretty much any component possible but no luck. I tried the following configurations: ibm jdk 1.6 SR 7 (bundled with WebSphere 7.0.0.9), xstream 1.2.2 ibm jdk 1.6 SR 8, xstream 1.2.2 ibm jdk 1.6 SR 8, xstream 1.3.1 (I tried those both with tomcat and with WebSphere server, so actually there are 6 configurations using IBM jdk). The code in question is in class com.thoughtworks.xstream.core.DefaultConverterLookup, around line 44. It uses an iterator from class com.thoughtworks.xstream.core.util.PrioritizedList, which uses a custom comparator, but all the comparator does is compare integers (the priorities). Has anyone seen this before? Any idea what can I do or change?

  • MySQL - ERROR 1045 - Access denied

    In some way I have managed to get this error when I try to access into MySQL via the command line: [root@localhost ~]# mysql -u root -p Enter password: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) I have tried resetting the password without any luck using this HowTo. I have uninstalled mysql completley and reinstalled but I still get asked for a password. I have no idea why this is the case! Can someone please help me get a default install of MySQL. Environment Fedora Core 10, Full Root Access, Apache and PHP installed Thank you for any help!! EDIT To all those that would like to save themselves a few hours of "blood coughing" - when you uninstall MySQl completely delete everything that is left behind. If you don't do this, it will never be a FRESH install.

How would I go about changing this script to run "pdf2swf test.pdf test.swf" if "pdf2swf test.opt.pdf test.swf" fails? If the second attempt fails, then I would "exit 2". Thanks

    I heave searched Google for this and cannot seem to find a soloution I have bsd-mailx on my server and it sends mail just fine However I wished to have a development environment at home. I need mailx such that php can use its mail function. However the mail is failing to resolve the domain name @gmail.com I am aware that my ISP talk talk may be blocking this is they have a mail server smtp.talktalk.net I assume I would have to add somthing to /etc/mail.rc and use heirloom maEdit turned out I had a instance of send mail running that was doing weird things.. after killing ilx not bsd-mailx,,but would still need to set default smtp relay Im on ubuntu 12.4 thankyou Edit turned out I had a instance of send mail running that was doing weird things.. after killing that, I was able to add the smtp relay, but its now saying that the sender domain does not work. I assume this domain has to route back the the same machine the mail originated from. as i dont have a domain for my home address.
