  • ASP Force Download

    In PHP I can do: header("Content-type: application/octet-stream") and then anything that I output is downloaded instead of showing in the browser. Is there a similar way to do this in ASP? I have seen about all the file streaming and such using ADODB.Stream, but that doesn't seem to work for me and always requires another file to load the content from. Bit of an ASP noob, so go easy on me. :p All I want to do is have a script that outputs a CSV and that will force download instead of showing in the browser.   • Easy way to convert regex to a java compatible regex?

    hi all I have a regex defined in python/ruby/php that is like this "(forumdisplay.php\?.*page=%CURRENTPAGE%)" when I do it for java, I have to double escape that question mark to //? like so: "(forumdisplay.php\\?.*page=%CURRENTPAGE%)"; is there a function I can use to do that automatically? or would I need to change all my regexes over to work with the java regex engine? thanks

  • iPhone toolbar shared by multiple views

    Another iPhone noob question. The app I'm building needs to show a shared custom UIToolbar for multiple views (and their subviews) within a UITabBarController framework. The contents of the custom toolbar are the same across all the views. I'd like to be able to design the custom toolbar as a xib and handle UI events from its own controller class (I'm assuming I can subclass UIToolbar to do so?). That way I could define IBOutlet & IBAction items, etc. Then I could associate this custom toolbar with eachs of the UITabBarController views (and their subviews). But I'm having trouble finding out whether that's possible - and if so, how to do it. In particular, I want to be able to push new views onto UINavigationControllers that are each associated with parent UITabBarController tabs. So, to summarize, I want a: custom toolbar shared by multiple views which are managed by multiple navigation controllers and the navigation controllers are associated with different tabs of a parent tab bar controller The tab bar controller itself is launched modally, though I don't believe that's relevant. Anyway, the tab bar controller is working, as are its child navigation controllers. I'm just having a little trouble figuring out how to persist the shared toolbar to the various subviews. I'd settle for a good clean way of implementing programmatically... though I'd prefer the flexibility of keeping the toolbar's visual design in a xib. Anyone have any suggestions?

    As far as I can see the key advantage of dynamic languages like Ruby or Python over Java/Scala/C# etc is "hot" applying of your changes to source code to the running application. What are the frameworks for JVM or .NET that support the same workflow - apply changes to configuration and source code on the fly? Can they also watch changes to custom configurations and notify application? Note: Frameworks for dynamic languages on JVM/.NET like Grails or Compojure are out of scope here.

  • Can't find momd file: Core Data problems

    Aw geez! I screwed something up! I'm a Core Data noob, working on my first iOS app. After much Stack Overflowing I'm using this code: NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"CoreData" ofType:@"momd"]; if (!path) { path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"CoreData" ofType:@"mom"]; } NSAssert(path != nil, @"Unable to find Resource in main bundle"); CoreData is the name of my app. I've tried to put in initial data into the app by finding the path to the sqlite file in my iPhone simulator, and then going and inserting into that sqlite file. But at some point, I moved the sqlite (thinking it would create a fresh copy), deleted the app from the simulator, and the sqlite file is gone. I'm not sure if I'm leaving out some part of the process (this was a few hours ago) but the end result is that everything is screwed up. How do I resubstantiate this sqlite / momd file? "Clean" and "Clean all targets" are grayed out. I'm happy to post the relevant code from my app that would help shed some light on this problem but there's tons of code relating to Core Data which I don't understand, so I'm not sure what part to post! Any help is greatly appreciated.

    I know the process id of an application in Mac OS X. How can I switch to it (using applescript, or python, or whatever)? By "switch", I mean, put in focus. The usual solution is to use the applescript code tell application "Foo" activate, but here the name is not useful because I have many instances of the same application running. I am however able to get the process id of the application. How can I switch to this application programmatically?

    i am new to WPF so maybe this will be "noob" question but i can't find answer to it (and it seems so easy)... well i am programing WPF app and i want to use smth similar to css for webpages, so i found ResourceDictionary and tried to use it... I have main window in which i create Frame and on click some UserControl is loaded to that same Frame.I include my ResourceDictionary (root/style/Styles.xaml) to my main window like this: <Window.Resources> <ResourceDictionary x:Key="styles" Source="style/Styles.xaml" /> </Window.Resources> in which i have: <ResourceDictionary xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"> <Style x:Key="ProductsRequired" TargetType="{x:Type Label}"> <Setter Property="Height" Value="28" /> ... I don't use it on my main window but want to use it on my UserControls, which are loaded to that main window and i try to use it like this: <Label Name="product1" Style="{DynamicResource ProductsRequired}" /> Warning i am getting all the time is: The resource "ProductsRequired" could not be resolved. I even tried including Styles to my UserControl <UserControl.Resources> <ResourceDictionary x:Key="styles" Source="../style/Styles.xaml" /> </UserControl.Resources> and nothing happens...     At present, I'm using something like this to build a list of 10 objects: myList = (from _ in Enumerable.Range(0, 9) select new MyObject {...}).toList() This is based off my python background, where I'd write: myList = [MyObject(...) for _ in range(10)] Note that I want my list to contain 10 instances of my object, not the same instance 10 times. Is this still a sensible way to do things in C#? Is there a cost to doing it this way over a simple for loop?

  • Internal loop only runs once, containing loop runs endlessly

    noob question I'm afraid. I have a loop that runs and rotates the hand of a clock and an internal loop that checks the angle of the hand if it is 90, 180, 270 and 360. On these 4 angles the corresponding div is displayed and its siblings removed. The hand loops and loops eternally, which is what I want, but the angle check only runs the loop once through the whole 360. As the hand passes through the angles it is correctly displaying and removing divs but is doesn't continue after the first revolution of the clock. I've obviously messed up somewhere and there is bound to be a more efficient way of doing all this. I am using jQueryRotate.js for my rotations.   • Most inappropriate function or variable names you have encountered?

    I was reading through my daily doze of RSS when I noticed a link to the python compiler documentation where class names like assList, assName and assTuple exist. While starting names with 'ass' is perfectly acceptable to me, it just sparked this idea that there probably exist much better examples of this. Have you personally used or otherwise encountered any inappropriate function or variable names? Personally I have used 'crap' and 'moo' for temporary purposes, forgot them and at a later point they came too integrated for me to bother with fixing them.
