  • Is it possible to setup a .NET4 webforms route to an asmx endpoint?

    Is it possible in my RegisterRoutes method in global.asax, to map some routes to an asmx? Ideally I would like to do something like: routes.MapPageRoute("ServiceSearchCats", "services/search/cats", "~/Services/Search.asmx/Cats"); (and therefore my endpoint for the service becomes "http://mydomain.com/services/search/cats", instead of the ugly "http://mydomain.com/Services/Search.asmx/Cats" url)

  • Any way to make DataContractJsonSerializer serialize Dictionaries properly?

    The DataContractJsonSerializer is not able to serialize Dictionaries properly. Whereas JavaScriptSerializer serializes Dictionaries as {"abc":"xyz","def":42} for example, the DataContractJsonSerializer gives [{"Key":"abc","Value":"xyz"},{"Key":"def","Value":42}] instead. This is really problematic and I want to know how can I serialize Dictionary objects correctly in my WCF service.     Our WCF svc files contain the following: <%@ ServiceHost Service="Foo" Factory="Bar" Language="C#" Debug="true" %> What does debug=true mean in this case? web.config has debug=false, but I don't know what this one means and can't find a reference on MSDN.

    I'm using the windows search 4.0 service (wssql) to find some files, it works fine on my computer but on our server which has two drives C: and D: always returns 0 rows when searching D: Also i'm not sure if it's related but cd d: goes back to c: in the command prompt.

  • Sending POST Requests without waiting for response?

    I am writing a simple REST service, which responds to requests from clients. All in PHP. My concern is, that when my server responds to a request, it could end up tying up resources if the client side is too slow in sending back "ok" response. How do I send a POST request via lib_curl setting it to not wait for any responses, but rather quit immidiately after the POST data have been sent? Is this even possible? Thank you !

I want to add some methods that operate on both models though. for example, addX() will create an object from both models A and B. What's the best way to structure code in this situation, since it doesnt make sense to have the method belong to either of the models methods.     Hello everyone I have installed xampp 1.7.3. After starting apache and mysql service when I write http://localhost/ in the internet explorer address bar it shows 'The page cannot be displayed'. But for Firefox it creates no problem and shows Xampp index.php page. Now how can I solve this problem? Thanks in advance

  • Ria Services - Delay load images (or any heavy binary data)

    I have an RIA Service that returns image data (Byte[]) and caption of image (String) from SQL Server. The data part can sometimes be a few MB's so it can take quite a while to load. I would like to load the bytes independently of the caption (which loads very fast). Is there a way to do this without having to create a second image context?

  • WCF App using Peer Chat app as example does not work.

    I converted a VB .Net 3.5 app to use peer to peer WCF using the available Microsoft example of the Chat app. I made sure that I copied the app.config file for the sample(modified the names for my app), added the appropriate references. I followed all the tutorials and added the appropriate tags and structure in my app code. Everything runs without any errors, but the clients only get messages from themselves and not from the other clients. The sample chat application does run just fine with multiple clients. The only difference I could find is that the server on the sample is targeting the framework 2.0, but I assume that is wrong and it is building it in at least 3.0 or the System.ServiceModel reference would break. Is there something that has to be registered that the sample is doing behind the scenes or is the sample a special project type? I am confused. My next step is to copy all my classes and logic from my app to the sample app, but that is likely a lot of work. For instance, some anti virus applications register an LSP and analyse network traffic that way. Is there a friendly way to accomplish the same sort of thing on OSX?

  • Rails time zones

    I'm calling an external web service API that returns a timezone as listed in the Olson timezones database (e.g. "America/New_York"). However some of the values the API returned are "US/Pacific", "US/Eastern" and apparently don't match any of the Olson timezones in Rails 2.3.2. Can anyone shed some light on this?     I was able to play the audio in background of the application in iPhone. However I would like to know if there is any service that enables the playback of audio after the user exits the application? I know that SDK 4.0 promises multitasking and background processes of the application. But i would like to know if this is enabled for audio playback in the earlier versions?
