• HTML 5 Video OnEnded Event not Firing

  I'm trying to react to the HTML 5 onended event for the video tag without success. In the code snippet below I added the mouseleave event to be sure the jQuery code is correct and that event does activate the alert() box. The video plays just fine but onended does not cause my alert() to fire off. • Converting John Resig's Templating Engine to work with PHP Templates

  I'm trying to convert the John Resig's new ASP.NET Templating Engine to work with PHP. Essentially what I would like to achieve is the ability to use certain Kohana Views via a JavaScript templating engine, that way I can use the same views for both a standard PHP request and a jQuery AJAX request. I'm starting with the basics and would like to be able to convert http://github.com/nje/jquery-tmpl/blob/master/jquery.tmpl.js To work with php like so... <li><a href="{%= link %}">{%= title %}</a> - {%= description %}</li> <li><a href="<?= $link ?>"><?= $title ?></a> - <?= description ?></li> The RexEx in it is a bit over my head and it's apparently not as easy as changing the %} to ? in lines 148 to 158.   I'm looking for a method of how to change the contents of a div when an option on a select dropdown is selected.   I'm trying to write a bookmarklet that will allow me to view the Web Of Trust (WOT) ratings for all the links on a page before visiting them. While WOT provides their own bookmarklet, it is not very useful since you need to visit the page first before viewing the rating. This will be used on SeaMonkey, so I can't just install the WOT extension, either. WOT has a Javascript API that allows you to activate the ratings on any page it is included in, so I am using that as a base. However, it never seems to work correctly as a bookmarklet. Here's one attempt where I tried to keep the code as close to the API as possible. I only modified the wotinject function so that it would work in a bookmarklet and added a timeout so that the rating widget wouldn't be loaded before jQuery. var wotprotocol = (document.location.protocol == "https:") ? • DataTables - Remove DataTables from HTML Table created in different JavaScript File

  So I have a site I visit everyday for work. The DataTables implementation on this site is atrocious. The DataTable is applied to an HTML table that is generated when the page is rendered and then the DataTable is initialized on it. I figured this is great because I can create a little TamperMonkey script to remove the horrible DataTable and create one that functions how I need it to. The DataTable is created via inline Javascript at the end of the document body. I tried the following per the DOCs for the destory() method. // ==UserScript== // @name // @version 0.1 // @description Makes the Invoice Table more user friendly // @include URL // @require http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.2/jquery.min.js // @require http://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/datatables/1.10.1/js/jquery.dataTables.min.js // @copyright 2014+, Me // ==/UserScript== $(function() { var t = $('#customer_invoices').DataTable(); t.destroy(); }); It does not "remove those enhancements and return the table to its original un-enhanced state, with the data shown in the table" as stated in the docs. It does not appear to do anything. I think it is either because the table has not been Datatable initialized yet, or that I am not able to access the original DataTable initialization in a different scope. Any help is greatly appreciated as this has me banging my head on the desk.

• How to maximize a floating div width when one div is removed or hidden?

I toggle removing and adding 'sidebar' using jquery but unable to maximize '#page-content' to take up the empty space when sidebar is removed.I tried removing 'margin-left:250px;' but the #page-content is going to the bottom. • How to reliably send a request cross domain and cross browser on page unload

  I have javascript code that's loaded by 3rd parties. The javascript keeps track of a number of metrics, and when a user exits the page I'd like to send the metrics back to my server. Due to XSS checks in some browsers, like IE, I cannot do a simple jquery.ajax() call. Instead, I'm appending an image src to the page with jquery. Here's the code, cased by browser: function record_metrics() { //Arbitrary code execution here to set test_url $esajquery('#MainDiv').append("<img src='" + test_url + "' />"); } if ($esajquery.browser.msie) { window.onbeforeunload = function() { record_metrics(); } } else { $esajquery(window).unload( function(){ record_metrics(); } ); } FF aborts the request to "test_url" if I use window.onbeforeunload, and IE8 doesn't work with jquery's unload(). IE8 also fails to work if the arbitrary test_url setting code is too long, although IE8 seems to work fine if the is immediately appended to the DOM. Is there a better way to solve this issue? Unfortunately this really needs to execute when a user leaves the page.

  I need large Calendar (not jQuery datepicker) with possibility to schedule events and show them on calendar. Calendar must support month/week/day views. It is very desirable for Calendar not to reload whole page when view changes (AJAX refresh). It must be easily customizable (CSS themes) and localizable. It should support drag & drop (for scheduled events). Such Calendar must be rendered on client side from JSON data snippet. I know there are too many requirements to find Calendar that matches them all but all they are important. I have found some free open source Calendar controls, but almost all are tightly tuned for ASP.NET but not MVC or have very "heavy" JavaScript codebase. Ideally i see it as jQuery extension but not server side ASP.NET control. The best ready-to-use solution I have found is FullCalendar by Adam Shaw (http://arshaw.com/fullcalendar/). It is jQuery plugin which source code I can change to fit my needs. If you can suggest some better existing solutions I'll be very appreciative.

• Is there a way to get an ASMX Web Service created in VS 2005 to receive and return JSON?

  I'm using .NET 2.0 and Visual Studio 2005 to try to create a web service that can be consumed both as SOAP/XML and JSON. I read Dave Ward's Answer to the question How to return JSON from a 2.0 asmx web service (in addition to reading other articles at Encosia.com), but I can't figure out how I need to set up the code of my asmx file in order to work with JSON using jQuery. Two Questions: How do I enable JSON in my .NET 2.0 ASMX file? What's a simple jQuery call that could consume the service using JSON? Also, I notice that since I'm using .NET 2.0, I i'm not able to implement using System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptService. • Use of clone() and appendTo() with draggable - unexpected results with dragging

  I'm constructing a UI for a doctor scheduling app. We have several doctors, each of whom can go in one of several locations on a scheduled day (M - F). I have the main day/location grid (table) in the center of the screen. At the left is a table for the doctor names. On loading, each table cell contains a span (outlined) with the doctor name. The doctor name can go in one slot for each day. I didn't want to just put 5 copies of the doctor name, because the doctor might not be available all 5 days of the week. The idea was: Drag the span and drop into the calendar table. On the drag "start" event, clone the span and append it to the table cell. Now there is another span ready to be dropped into the calendar table. One line of code does the work: $(ui.helper).clone(true).prependTo(ui.helper.parent()); This works. But when I move the cloned span, the original one moves in sync - preserving the spatial relationships as I move the clone around (no doubt there's a "position:relative;left=XX;top=YY" inserted somewhere). I'm sure there's a way to do what I'm thinking of, while keeping the two spans independent. But I'm not thinking of one. Does anyone have an idea? Thanks! • Using max-width = 100% and max-height = 100% on an image, calculate the display width/height

  I am creating a slideshow for images of various sizes to display centered vertically and horizontally within a canvas area. In my CSS, I set the width and height of the image to 100% so that each image would proportionally fill the canvas. I want the canvas to auto-size itself to fit within the viewer's screensize as the original size of the images is quite large (up to 800 pixels tall). I am using jQuery 1.4, and using the height of the image to calculate the top value for absolute positioning it to the middle of the canvas. I have tried using jQuery to get the .height(), innerHeight(), and outerHeight(), but it always gets the full size of the image. I extracted the DOM element from the jQuery object and tried using .width, .offsetWidth, and .clientWidth, but that too always seems to return the full size of the image. Firebug displays the correct dimensions, so I know there's some way of calculating the actual display height of the image, I just can't figure out what it is. How do you get the actual display height of an image if you've set max-height = 100%? I didn't want to have to calculate and set the height of each image in the js, but if I have to, I will. It just seems like I should be able to set the canvas size and have the images auto-adjust.

• Checkbox does not change when clicked directly on it

  I have a table of data and have one checkbox per row for the user to select the item. I'm using the following jQuery code to allow the user to select the item by clicking anywhere in the row: $("tbody tr").click(function() { var checkbox = $(this).find(':checkbox'); checkbox.attr('checked', !checkbox.attr('checked')); }); The problem is if I click directly on the checkbox, nothing happens. ie. if the checkbox is not checked, it remains unchecked. If I click anywhere else in the row, the checkbox changes status. I'm thinking that the jQuery code is causing the action to be performed twice. If I click on the checkbox, the checkbox will change but then the jQuery code for clicking on the row will be performed and the checkbox will be changed back. Not sure if that is actually happening but that is my guess. How can I get a checkbox to be toggled when a user clicks on a row and the same thing if they click directly on the checkbox?

• Dynamically created iframe not working on Safari

  I have a weird problem and I find no answer on google... I dynamically create and fullfil an iframe with jquery on a page. It works fine withFF and IE, but not with Safari. The iframe is created but empty (the message "greetings from the iframe !" is missing). • Iframe in Tab Madness!

  I've searched all over and have found possible solutions but they don't quite work how i need them to. I am really new to jQuery but I'm trying :-) I have an iframe that sits in a Tab ( Tabs powered by jQuery) In the third tab sits an iframe that holds a slideshow My problem: When I click on the third tab which houses the iframe all the controls appear, the carousel seems to be working, but ...no pictures!!! Firefox helped me find what fixes the problem, now i just need to find a way to do fix it. In Firefox when i right click on the iframe and go to This frame - Reload Frame VOILA! Pictures are back! Question: Is it possible with jQuery to tell when the third tab is selected and to refresh a div which contains the iframe when that third tab is selected? • How to speed up the reading of innerHTML in IE8?

  I am using JQuery with the DataTable plugin, and now I have a big performnce issue on the following line. aLocalData[jInner] = nTds[j].innerHTML; // jquery.dataTables.js:2220 I have a ajax call, and result string in HTML format. I convert them into HTML nodes, and that part is ok. var $result = $('<div/>').html(result).find("*:first"); // simlar to $result=$(result) but much more faster in Fx Then I activate enable the result from a plain table to a sortable datatable. The speed is acceptable in Fx (around 4sec for 900 rows), but unacceptable in IE8 (more then 100 seconds).
