Fault Handling It is one thing to architect, design, and code the “happy flow” of your automated business processes and services. It is another thing to deal with situations you do not want or expect to occur in your processes and services. This session dives into fault handling in Oracle Service Bus 11g and Oracle SOA Suite 11g, based on an order-to-cash business process. Faults can be divided into business faults, technical faults, programming errors, and faulty user input. Each type of fault needs a different approach to prevent them from occurring or to deal with them. For example, apply User Experience (UX) techniques to improve the quality of your application so that faulty user input can be prevented as much as possible. This session shows and demos what patterns and techniques can be used in Oracle Service Bus and Oracle SOA Suite to prevent and handle technical faults as well as business faults. Q&A This section lists answers to the questions that were raised during the preview event. Q: Where can retries be configured in Oracle Service Bus? The retry mechanism is used to prevent faults caused by temporary glitches such as short network interruptions. A faulted message is resend (retried) and might succeed this time since the glitch has passed. Where to place web.xml outside WAR file for secure redirect?

I am running Tomcat 7 and am deploying a bunch of applications delivered to me by a third party as WAR files. I'd like to force some of those apps to always use SSL. (All the "SSL" apps are in one service; other apps outside this discussion are in another service.) I've figured out how to use conf\web.xml to redirect apps from HTTP to HTTPS, but that applies to all applications hosted by Tomcat. I've also figured out how to put web.xml in an unpacked app's web-inf directory; that does the trick for that specific app, but runs the risk of being overwritten if our vendor gives us a new war file to deploy. I've also tried placing the web.xml file in various places under conf\service\host, or under appbase, but none seem to work. Is it possible to redirect some apps to SSL without forcing all apps to redirect, or to put the web.xml file inside the extracted WAR file? Is there a way to only always show the close, minimise and maximise buttons on every application? The use case is as follows: I have a maximized application in the background, over it is a not-maximized application that has got focus. I want to close the maximized application. I move the pointer to upper left corner. The buttons do not show, since the background application does not have focus. I have to go back, click on it and then go back to the corner to close it. I do that several times a day :-( .

Point an external domain to a shared hosting website

I bought a domain from a seller (GoDaddy), and wish to point it at a shared hosting website (ASmallOrange). Googling tells me it's fairly straightforward: Step 1: On the external domain's DNS, configure two NS records for the two nameservers of the hosting service. Step 2: Wait 2-48 hours. I'm puzzled because it can't be that simple. I've told the DNS where to look, but since it's shared hosting, the hosting service needs to know what site to point the domain to. And indeed, after I've performed the above steps, visiting the domain leads me to a generic message from the shared hosting service. Okay, so I have to configure the DNS on the hosting service, right? The service I use (ASmallOrange) uses cPanel. What I tried is to set up a Parked Domain for the externally bought domain; when I go into the Advanced DNS Zone Editor, sure enough, the DNS for the external domain shows up as something I can configure. Yet, visiting the externally registered domain still points me to the generic shared server page. I'm convinced I'm doing something wrong. Could someone debug my thought process? Or perhaps offer alternate solutions? Right now, I'm considering trying to set up a CNAME record on the external domain to point to the domain I registered through the shared host -- but I have a vague impression that this is bad practice.

The Analysis: The reason you get the message is that SharePoint WFE cannot connect to the SQL database, you need to check the weather SQL server service is started as shown below. Solution: When checking the SQL Server service, I see it is not started. After starting the service, it works like a charm.

DHCP won't start / subnetting

I recently changed the IP address on an Ubuntu 12.04 server I have in my lab, which is running isc-dhcp-server. After doing so and modifying the dhcpd.conf file, my dhcp service would not start. I basically used the same configuration, except I modified everything to use /25 scopes rather than /24. When I try to start / restart the service, I see the following: MY@ubuntuserver:~$ sudo service isc-dhcp-server restart stop: Unknown instance: isc-dhcp-server start/running, process 20918 It looks like it starts, but it isn't actually running and Webmin states that the DHCP service is not running. So my question is, does isc-dhcp-server support subnetting (CIDR) style scopes, or must they be class A / B / C scopes (doesn't seem likely)? I've double checked the interface reference (this is a VM with only one defined eth0 interface) and everything else I can thing of.

Detect Subscribers To Event In Real Time

I'm using C++ in the QT framework to write an application that detects an application running in memory. I can use the FindWindow method, but that requires that I know the windows title before hand. What would be the best method for identifying behavior of the application in memory to match it to a title? For example, if I know (before scanning) that a given application subscribes to the OnKeyPress event, is it possible to hook to it that method, detect all of the subscribers and enumerate them to find the application i'm looking for? If so, how would I go about doing that without integrating into the kernel? Thanks in advance for all the responses.

Am I personally liable for bugs in medical software I've developed as an employee? [closed]

Some background: I'm employed at a small, Australia-based web agency that is dipping it's toe into Mobile Application development (iOS). The project that I'm working on provides a way for users to save medication dosage information which is sync'd with a backend server. Users must agree to ToS, Disclaimer etc before using the application. This is my first iOS application, and the project is currently over budget. As a result, management is not devoting the resources to Q&A and is pushing instead for more features. I am an employee of the agency, that has been contracted by a non-for-profit. The application will probably be released under our agency's name, but we also have the option of releasing it as the not-for-profit. My question is, if there are bugs found in the application, and as a result a user takes an incorrect dosage of a medication, am I personally liable? Is there anything that I can or should do in order to protect myself personally?

How to leverage the internal HTTP endpoint available on Azure web roles?

Imagine you have a Web application using an in-memory collection that changes occasionally, loading it from storage on the Application_Start global.asax event and updating it whenever it changes. If you want to deploy this application on Azure you need to keep in mind that more than one instance of the application can be running at any time and therefore you need to provide some mechanism to keep all instances informed with the latest changes. Because that the communication through internal endpoints between Azure role instances is at no cost, a good solution can be maintaining the information on Azure Storage Tables, reading its contents on the Application_Start event and populating its changes to all instances using the internal HTTP port available on Azure Web Roles. You need to follow these steps to leverage the internal HTTP endpoint available on Azure web roles: 1. Define an internal HTTP endpoint in the Web Role properties, for example InternalHttpEndpoint 2. Add a new WCF service to the Web Role, for example NotificationServices.svc 3. Add a method on the new service to receive notifications from other role instances. 4. Declare a class that inherits from System.ServiceModel.Activation.ServiceHostFactory and override the method CreateServiceHost to host the internal endpoint. Note that you can use SecurityMode.None because the internal endpoint is private to the instances of the service, this is provided by the platform. 5. Edit the markup of the service right clicking the svc file and selecting "View markup" to add the new factory as the factory to be used to create the service 6. Now you can notify changes to other instances using this code:

So my question is: What is apache tomcat and why we need it? Can't we deploy any piece of code or any application without apache tomcat? For windows, what framework we need to deploy(or same tomcat can be used for same)? Please make me understand the basic concept so that I can understand the deploy process or per-requisites of deploying process. what I know (to deploy) Just copy the tar file or zip file to any concerned dev environment and restart the server. When people refer to an architecture that involves a single service API that all clients talk to (a client can be an iPad app, etc), what is the "client" for the web app -- is it A) the web browser itself. Thus, the entire app is written in html/css/javascript and ajax calls to the service are made to fetch data and changes are made through javascript or B) you have an MVC-like stack on a server, only instead of the controllers calling to the model layer directly, they call to the service API which return models that are used to render the traditional views or C) something else?

First few questions: What is Upgrade Code? Advanced installer has option, Product Version (identify by Upgrade Code) What is Product Code? Advanced installer Product Version (identify by Product Code) Component is installed : GUID. What is GUID? All the above three has values like this: {49EB7A6A-1CEF-4A1E-9E89-B9A4993963E3} I don't know what these values are but it seems that computer is recognizing software using this kind of strange ID. My required applications are MySQL DBMS MySQL .NET Connector One fact that I discovered is Upgrade Code & Product Code can be extracted from its "msi installer". Now, What exactly are these ProductCode & UpgradeCode & GUID. Which denotes what? Why are above observations contradicting? I don't care about versions. I don't want to depend on Application Name then how do I check if MySQL driver & MySQL ADO .NET. Does detection become simple if they are .NET assemblies? How to do then? I don't want to ship the assemblies with my deployed files.

WCF via SSL connectivity problems

Hello, I am hosting a WCF service from inside a Windows service using WAS. When I set the service to listen on 127.0.0.1, I have connectivity from my local machine as well as from my network. However, when I set it to listen on my outbound interface port 443, I can no longer even see the wsdl by connecting with a browser. Strangely, I can connect to the service by using telnet. The cert I am using was generated for my interface by a CA, and I have successfully used this exact cert with this service before. When checking the application log, I see that the service starts without error and is listening on the correct interface. From this information, it seems to me that the config file is in a valid state, but somehow misconfigured for what I want. I have, however, previously deployed this same setup on other sites using this config file. In case it is helpful, below is my config file.
