  • Query a stored procedure for it's parameter names and types

    Is there any easy way to query a stored procedure (Oracle - PL/SQL) for what parameters it expects? I know that I can query USER_SOURCE to get the whole procedure but I'd then have to parse the whole procedure, and if the parameter is of type [table].[column]%TYPE I'd then have to query the table schema as well. Either using just sql or via ODP.Net.

    Is there a way in .NET 2.0 (C#) to serialize object like you do using XmlSerializer in a simple / customizable human readable format thats for instance looks like PXLS or JSON? Also I know that XML is human readable, I'm looking for something with less annoying redundancy, something that you can output to the console as a result for the user.

    Hi there, i have a VB.NET program that handles the content of documents. The programm handles high volumes of documents as "batch"(2Million documents;total 1TB volume) Some of this documents may contain control chars or chars like f0e8(http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/f0e8/browsertest.htm). Is there a easy and especially fast way to remove that chars?(except space,newline,tab,...) If the answer is regex: Has anyone a complete regex for me? Thanks!

  • Checking for DBNull throws a StrongTypingException

    I am using a dataset to pull data from a DB. One of the fields in a row is NULL. I know this. However, the following vb.net code throws a StrongTypingException (in the autogenerated get_SomeField() method in the dataset designer): If Not IsDBNull(aRow.SomeField) Then 'do something End If According to documentation and this question it should be fine. edit: If aRow.SomeField is DBNull.Value Then also returns the same error. Argh.

  • How to subtract dates in YYYYMMDD format?

    I have 2 integer fields that represent dates in the YYYYMMDD format. What is the best way to subtract 2 of these fields to get the correct # of days between them? For instance, if I take the difference between 20100511 and 20100428 I would like the result to be 13 and not 83. I know I need to convert the integer fields into date formats but everything I have tried either throws an exception or doesn't work correctly. What am I missing? Answers in vb.net please

  • IList<T> and IReadOnlyList<T>

    My problem is that I have a method that can take a collection as parameter that, Has a Count property Has an integer indexer (get-only) And I don't know what type should this parameter be. I would choose IList<T> before .NET 4.5 since there is no other indexable collection interface for this and arrays implement it, which is a big plus. But .NET 4.5 introduces the new IReadOnlyList<T> interface and I want my method to support that, too. How can I write this method to support both IList<T> and IReadOnlyList<T> without violating the basic principles like DRY? Can I convert IList<T> to IReadOnlyList<T> somehow in an overload? What is the way to go here?   • What groupbox method (if any) monitors radio button selections?

    I'm creating a VB.NET application that includes two radio buttons inside of a groupbox. If the first radio button is selected, a certain tab on a tab form should be enabled. If the second radio button is selected, that tab should be disabled. Is there a groupbox method that monitors both radio buttons and fires when the selection changes? Or do I need to set up individual methods for each radio button?
