  • viewDidLoad not being called by parent UITabBarController

    - by Adam Bishop
Sample: I've created a minimal set of files that highlight the issue here: http://uploads.omega.org.uk/Foo3.zip If viewDidLoad/viewInitWithNibName are called, a message box is displayed. The message box is not displayed, therefore, the methods are not being called. Details: I have an application that is attempting to use a UITabBarController to switch between multiple views. The views are linked up to the UITabBarController using interface builder (select the tab page, open Attributes (Option-1), and fill in the NIB Name field), and so are displayed "automatically" with no extra code-behind to make them appear. Is it intended behaviour that views loaded like this do not have their viewDidLoad method executed? If not, how am I doing it wrong, and what do I need to change. If it is intended behaviour, I can think of a few work-arounds, but any suggestions are appreciated: Scrap the UITabBarController and implement the view switching myself (using initWithNibName and add/insert/push/Subview). Call each of the children's viewDidLoad method manually in the UITabBarController's own viewDidLoad method. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

  • Parsing ISO-8859-1 w/ NSXmlParser

    - by Travis
    I am usin the nsxmlparser and am wondering how I can parse ISO-8859-1 correctly into an NSString. Currently, I am getting results w/ Â for two-byte characters. The XML I'm using (not created by me) starts with <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> Here are the basic calls I'm using (omitted the NSThread calls). NSString *xmlFilePath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:sampleFileName ofType:@"xml"]; NSString *xmlFileContents = [NSString stringWithContentsOfFile:xmlFilePath encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding error:nil]; NSData *data = [xmlFileContents dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; NSXMLParser *parser = [[NSXMLParser alloc] initWithData:data]; [parser setDelegate:self]; [parser parse];

  • Add shadow to UIImage drawn in rounded path

    - by Tom Irving
I'm drawing a rounded image in a UITableView cell like so: CGRect imageRect = CGRectMake(8, 8, 40, 40); CGFloat radius = 3; CGFloat minx = CGRectGetMinX(imageRect); CGFloat midx = CGRectGetMidX(imageRect); CGFloat maxx = CGRectGetMaxX(imageRect); CGFloat miny = CGRectGetMinY(imageRect); CGFloat midy = CGRectGetMidY(imageRect); CGFloat maxy = CGRectGetMaxY(imageRect); CGContextMoveToPoint(context, minx, midy); CGContextAddArcToPoint(context, minx, miny, midx, miny, radius); CGContextAddArcToPoint(context, maxx, miny, maxx, midy, radius); CGContextAddArcToPoint(context, maxx, maxy, midx, maxy, radius); CGContextAddArcToPoint(context, minx, maxy, minx, midy, radius); CGContextClosePath(context); CGContextClip(context); [self.theImage drawInRect:imageRect]; This looks great, but I'd like to add a shadow to it for added effect. I've tried using something along the lines of: CGContextSetShadowWithColor(context, CGSizeMake(2, 2), 2, [[UIColor grayColor] CGColor]); CGContextFillPath(context); But this only works when the image has transparent areas, if the image isn't transparent at all, it won't even draw a shadow around the border. I'm wondering if there is something I'm doing wrong?

  • How to solve validation error on xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation in jdoconfig.xml

    - by mamuso
Since I updated today to GAE 1.7.2.1, I'm having validation errors in eclipse in all my jdoconfig.xml files. I have the default jdoconfig.xml content : [...] <jdoconfig xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jdo/jdoconfig" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jdo/jdoconfig"> [...] And eclipse validation throws: Referenced file contains errors (http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jdo/jdoconfig). For more information, right click on the message in the Problems View and select "Show Details..." When clicking on details I can see a bunch of lines like: s4s-elt-character: Non-whitespace characters are not allowed in schema elements other than 'xs:appinfo' and 'xs:documentation'. Saw 'var_U = "undefined";'. In different lines and different content in "Saw ... " It occurs in every single project I start using the "New Web Application Project..." from the google plugin. So does anyone have this problem? Any fix?

  • Configuration file 'C:\my\App.Config' is being used to configure all executables

    - by Taylor Leese
I have a Visual Studio setup project that installs an application into the task scheduler and also installs a GUI application to manage some configuration parameters in the registry. This being the case, the setup project installs two different primary outputs (.exe's) as part of the process. I am getting the following warning when I rebuild the setup project: Configuration file 'C:\my\App.Config' is being used to configure all executables Is there any way to remove this warning? The suggested MSFT solution apears to be to use a different setup project for each .exe, but I only want the users to have to run one installer. Any suggestions?

  • What means: libtool: -dynamic not specified the following flags are invalid: -ObjC

    - by Olie
I inherited a project (lucky me!) which relies on a static library. Trying to build the static lib, I get this error: /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/usr/bin/libtool: -dynamic not specified the following flags are invalid: -ObjC It is followed by these two lines, which I do understand, but this appears to be a separate problem (missing file.) /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/usr/bin/libtool: can't locate file for: -lFlurryWithLocation /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/usr/bin/libtool: file: -lFlurryWithLocation is not an object file (not allowed in a library) Command /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/usr/bin/libtool failed with exit code 1 Am I wrong, and it's all related? Will the 1st line error go away if I fix the missing file part? Either way, what does the -dynamic not specified part of message mean? Thanks!

Any help ? [string release]; [myUrl release];

  • Marrying Core Animation with OpenGL ES

    - by Ole Begemann
Edit: I suppose instead of the long explanation below I might also ask: Sending -setNeedsDisplay to an instance of CAEAGLLayer does not cause the layer to redraw (i.e., -drawInContext: is not called). Instead, I get this console message: <GLLayer: 0x4d500b0>: calling -display has no effect. Is there a way around this issue? Can I invoke -drawInContext: when -setNeedsDisplay is called? Long explanation below: I have an OpenGL scene that I would like to animate using Core Animation animations. Following the standard approach to animate custom properties in a CALayer, I created a subclass of CAEAGLLayer and defined a property sceneCenterPoint in it whose value should be animated. My layer also holds a reference to the OpenGL renderer: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import <QuartzCore/QuartzCore.h> #import "ES2Renderer.h" @interface GLLayer : CAEAGLLayer { ES2Renderer *renderer; } @property (nonatomic, retain) ES2Renderer *renderer; @property (nonatomic, assign) CGPoint sceneCenterPoint; I then declare the property @dynamic to let CA create the accessors, override +needsDisplayForKey: and implement -drawInContext: to pass the current value of the sceneCenterPoint property to the renderer and ask it to render the scene: #import "GLLayer.h" @implementation GLLayer @synthesize renderer; @dynamic sceneCenterPoint; + (BOOL) needsDisplayForKey:(NSString *)key { if ([key isEqualToString:@"sceneCenterPoint"]) { return YES; } else { return [super needsDisplayForKey:key]; } } - (void) drawInContext:(CGContextRef)ctx { self.renderer.centerPoint = self.sceneCenterPoint; [self.renderer render]; } ... (If you have access to the WWDC 2009 session videos, you can review this technique in session 303 ("Animated Drawing")). Now, when I create an explicit animation for the layer on the keyPath @"sceneCenterPoint", Core Animation should calculate the interpolated values for the custom properties and call -drawInContext: for each step of the animation: - (IBAction)animateButtonTapped:(id)sender { CABasicAnimation *animation = [CABasicAnimation animationWithKeyPath:@"sceneCenterPoint"]; animation.duration = 1.0; animation.fromValue = [NSValue valueWithCGPoint:CGPointZero]; animation.toValue = [NSValue valueWithCGPoint:CGPointMake(1.0f, 1.0f)]; [self.glView.layer addAnimation:animation forKey:nil]; } At least that is what would happen for a normal CALayer subclass. When I subclass CAEAGLLayer, I get this output on the console for each step of the animation: 2010-12-21 13:59:22.180 CoreAnimationOpenGL[7496:207] <GLLayer: 0x4e0be20>: calling -display has no effect. 2010-12-21 13:59:22.198 CoreAnimationOpenGL[7496:207] <GLLayer: 0x4e0be20>: calling -display has no effect. 2010-12-21 13:59:22.216 CoreAnimationOpenGL[7496:207] <GLLayer: 0x4e0be20>: calling -display has no effect. 2010-12-21 13:59:22.233 CoreAnimationOpenGL[7496:207] <GLLayer: 0x4e0be20>: calling -display has no effect. ... So it seems that, possibly for performance reasons, for OpenGL layers, -drawInContext: is not getting called because these layers do not use the standard -display method to draw themselves. Can anybody confirm that? Is there a way around it? Or can I not use the technique I laid out above? This would mean I would have to implement the animations manually in the OpenGL renderer (which is possible but not as elegant IMO).

  • Animating sprites in Cocos2d

    - by Christian Budtz
    How do I avoid unneccesary deallocation? I'm running this code: CCSpriteFrameCache * cache = [CCSpriteFrameCache sharedSpriteFrameCache]; [cache addSpriteFramesWithFile:@"boosttexture.plist"]; CCAnimation * animation = [[CCAnimation alloc] initWithName:@"boosting" delay:1/24.0f]; [animation addFrame:[cache spriteFrameByName:@"ship.png"]]; [animation addFrame:[cache spriteFrameByName:@"ship_boost_l_r.png"]]; id action = [CCRepeatForever actionWithAction:[CCAnimate actionWithAnimation:animation]]; [spaceShipSprite runAction:action]; When the animaton is running (granted - its an ugly one), I get this in the console: 2010-04-14 13:40:16.311 Booster2K10Beta[521:20b] cocos2d: deallocing CCSpriteFrame = 00EBA620 | TextureName=4, Rect = (1.00,32.00,32.00,32.00) 2010-04-14 13:40:16.411 Booster2K10Beta[521:20b] cocos2d: deallocing CCSpriteFrame = 00EBA620 | TextureName=4, Rect = (1.00,32.00,32.00,32.00) 2010-04-14 13:40:16.496 Booster2K10Beta[521:20b] cocos2d: deallocing CCSpriteFrame = 00EBA620 | TextureName=4, Rect = (1.00,32.00,32.00,32.00) It seems unneccesary that the same SpriteFrame gets dealloc'ed 24 times per second - how do I avoid that?

  • Objective C HTML escape/unescape

    - by Squeegy
Wondering if there is an easy way to do a simple HTML escape/unescape in Objective C. What I want is something like this psuedo code: NSString *string = @"&lt;span&gt;Foo&lt;/span&gt;"; [string stringByUnescapingHTML]; Which returns <span>Foo</span> Hopefully unescaping all other HTML entities as well and even ASCII codes like Ӓ and the like. Is there any methods in Cocoa Touch/UIKit to do this?

  • TTStyledTextLabel offset between link and regular text when changing from default font

    - by Guy Ephraim
I'm using Three20 TTStyledTextLabel and when I change the default font (Helvetica) to something else it creates some kind of height difference between links and regular text The following code demonstrate my problem: #import <Three20/Three20.h> @interface TestController : UIViewController { } @end @implementation TestController -(id)init{ self = [super init]; TTStyledTextLabel* label = [[[TTStyledTextLabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 230)] autorelease]; label.text = [TTStyledText textFromXHTML:@"<a href=\"aa://link1\">link</a> text" lineBreaks:YES URLs:YES]; [label setFont:[UIFont systemFontOfSize:16]]; [[self view] addSubview:label]; TTStyledTextLabel* label2 = [[[TTStyledTextLabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 230, 320, 230)] autorelease]; label2.text = [TTStyledText textFromXHTML:@"<a href=\"aa://link1\">link2</a> text2" lineBreaks:YES URLs:YES]; [label2 setFont:[UIFont fontWithName:@"HelveticaNeue" size:16]]; [[self view] addSubview:label2]; return self; } @end In the screen shot you can see that the first link is aligned and the second one isn't How do I fix it? I think there is a bug in the TTStyledTextLabel code...

  • Loop an UIScrollView

    - by Ilya
Hi, I've got an UIScrollView and in it different images(about 30). I'd like to make it possible, when user reaches the last image to show the first one after it and so on. And I want to implement the same feature with the first image(to go to the last one). I'd like to loop the images smoothly that user won't even notice that he is making another loop. What is the best way to achieve this? Thanks.

  • How do I make UITableViewCell's ImageView a fixed size even when the image is smaller.

    - by Robert
I have a bunch of images I am using for cell's image views, they are all no bigger than 50x50. e.g. 40x50, 50x32, 20x37 ..... When I load the table view, the text doesn't line up because the width of the images varies. Also I would like small images to appear in the centre as opposed to on the left. Here is the code I am trying inside my 'cellForRowAtIndexPath' method cell.imageView.autoresizingMask = ( UIViewAutoresizingNone ); cell.imageView.autoresizesSubviews = NO; cell.imageView.contentMode = UIViewContentModeCenter; cell.imageView.bounds = CGRectMake(0, 0, 50, 50); cell.imageView.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 50, 50); cell.imageView.image = [UIImage imageWithData: imageData]; As you can see I have tried a few things, but none of them work.

  • Encoded nsstring becomes invalid, "normal" nsstring remains

    - by shoreline
I'm running into a problem with a string that contains encoded characters. Specifically, if the string has encoded characters it eventually becomes invalid while a "normal" string will not. in the .h file: @interface DirViewController : TTThumbsViewController <UIActionSheetDelegate,UINavigationControllerDelegate,UIImagePickerControllerDelegate> { NSString *sourceFolder; NSString *encodedSourceFolder; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *sourceFolder; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *encodedSourceFolder; in the .m file: - (id)initWithFolder:(NSString*)folder query:(NSDictionary*)query { if (self = [super init]) { sourceFolder = folder; } return self; } Up to now everything seems to run as expected. In viewDidLoad I have the following: sourceFolderCopy = [self urlEncodeValue:(sourceFolder)]; //I also have this button, which I'll refer to later: UIBarButtonItem *importButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:@"Import/Export" style:UIBarButtonItemStyleBordered target:self action:@selector(importFiles:)]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = importButton; Which uses the following method to encode the string (if it has characters I want encoded): - (NSString *)urlEncodeValue:(NSString *)str { NSString *result = (NSString *) CFURLCreateStringByAddingPercentEscapes (kCFAllocatorDefault, (CFStringRef)str, NULL, CFSTR(":/?#[]@!$&’()*+,;="), kCFStringEncodingUTF8); return [result autorelease]; } If I NSLog result, I get the expected values. If the string has characters like a white space, I get a string with encoding. If the string doesn't have any characters that need to be encoded, it just gives me the original string. I have a button on the nav bar which begins an image import process by opening an action sheet. Once the method for the action sheet starts, my string is invalid - but only if it contains encoded characters. If it is just a "normal" string, everything is fine and acts as expected. Am I off on my encoding? At first I thought it might be a memory problem but I can't figure out why that would affect only encoded strings. Here's where the action sheet is defined (and the first place I can see the encoded string becoming invalid) the NSLog statements are where it crashes: - (IBAction)importFiles:(id)sender { NSLog(@"logging encodedSF from import files:"); NSLog(@"%@",encodedSourceFolder);//crashes right here NSLog(@"%@",sourceFolder); if (shouldNavigate == NO) { NSString *msg = nil; msg = @"It is not possible to import or export images while in image selection mode."; UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Unable to Import/Export" message:msg delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"OK" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alert show]; [alert release]; [msg release]; } else{ UIActionSheet *actionSheet = [[UIActionSheet alloc] initWithTitle:@"What would you like to do?" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Cancel" destructiveButtonTitle:nil otherButtonTitles:@"Import Photos (Picker)", @"Export Photos", nil, nil]; [actionSheet showInView:self.view]; [actionSheet release]; } } I don't get any crash errors going to the console. By using breakpoints I was able to see that the encodedSourceFolder is invalid in the action sheet method.

  • how to programatically set the current page for UIPageControl?

    - by RexOnRoids
I have 3 "pages" (page 0, page 1, page 2) in a UIScrollView that are snapped to by finger swipes. There is a UIPageControl there too. The UIScrollView starts off presenting page 0. What I want to do is present page 3 FIRST sometimes. How can I do this programatically. Simply setting currentPage (of UIPageControl) to the page number does nothing by the way.
