• Help desk software - specific feature needed

  I am having a hard time finding help desk software that allows for drop down hyperlink selection during ticket creation. The situation is that we do external support for client systems and connect via remotely anywhere or logmein. Right now we use a poorly modified php based system that has a customer drop down menu and then a site drop down list that is then parsed by a bit of java script which opens a url. What I am looking for is the ability to store customer site URL information in the database and during the creation of a ticket be able to select the customer name and then select the site there by placing the corresponding site URL in the ticket. The support tech will then be able to click on this link to access the customer's site. Has anyone used or seen help desk software with this feature?

• Invalid Html Response and JS Errors when you open your Application in Visual Studio 2013

   I was working on an application which uses Telerik controls. The application was working fine for a while. Suddenly, the application stopped working. I mean lot of my application pages becoming very very ugly. I found JavaScript errors on every Browser's console. When I check the page view-source, the generated HTML was messy and invalid. This was only happening with my local machine. If someone else on my network accesses my application pages, he will get the correct HTML and no JavaScript errors. My mind was blowing because the same page was generating invalid HTML(and JavaScript errors) when I access the page using a local browser but generate correct HTML(and no JavaScript errors) when someone else access my application page remotely. Then I realized that I the only change I made last was opening my application in Visual Studio 2013 RTM which I installed few days ago. I closed the Visual Studio 2013, everything work like a charm. Then I became100% sure that this is only happening due to new Visual Studio 2013 feature called Browser Link. I just open the application again and add this in web.config. • Connect android to database

  I am doing a school project where we need to create an android application which needs to connect to a database. the application needs to gain and store information for people's profiles on the database. But unfortunatly we are a little bit stuck at this point because there are numerous ways to link the application such as http request through apache or through the SOAP/REST protocol. But it's really hard to find good instructions or tutorials on the problem since I can't really find them. Maybe that's cause i'm probably using the wrong words on google. Unfortunately I have little relevant information. So if anyone can help me with finding relevant links to good online tutorials or howto's than those are very welcome.

• Is there any way to search within OneNote 2007 attachments

  I'm starting to use OneNote (2007) more. One thing I'd like to do is take notes on papers I have read. That is, I attach, say, a PDF file, and then type in some notes about it. Sometimes I do other stuff like copy some key text or figures from the paper, so OneNote is great for this because all that plus my own notes plus the file itself can all be in one place. However, the OneNote search doesn't seem to be able to search within said PDF files. Windows search finds things, but just in the OneNote cache, not the actual Onenote .one files. (Presumably that will only work for recently accessed stuff, and in any case doesn't take me to my actual notes.) Is there a way to do what I want? If not, does anyone have a suggestion (or link) as to how to best use OneNote to store (and later search for!) this kind of content and notes?

• Make sniqt recognize all tray abilities (or create a working indicator in Qt)

  There is this old thread of mine: How do I create a working indicator with Qt/C++? where I was suggested to use the QSystemTray library for making a tray icon in Ubuntu for my application. Sniqt is a program that takes care of the rest. As known, Ubuntu has got rid of tray icons. Instead, it now uses indicators and only indicators. Sniqt converts the Qt tray icons into working indicators. The problem is that it doesn't do a very decent convertion. Actions like single click, middle click etc do not work, while they do in systems that support tray icons. Is there a way to have these actions back? Can I use QSystemTray icon and still have these interesting (and very helpful, in my occasion) actions in Ubuntu? I would be glad to know the answer to the other thread I talked about earlier (how to make a working indicator using the GTK libraries and prevent the crash), as well. • Help with the RT3290 Wireless adapter

  I know there is a lot of questions about RT3290 wireless adapter, but I read many many of them and noone helped me with my problem. So, I have the HP Pavilion dm1 laptop and I installed Xubuntu 13.10 on it. During the instalation it poped up that I'm able to connect to the internet via network adapter. I did it obviously, but it worked for like 5 seconds, then it said that network connection is down and I couldn't connect to my router, even if i could actually see network connections avaible. Then (when installation ended) I rebooted my computer. My network was avaible! I could connect and browse the internet smoothly. Next day I turned on my laptop and I saw my wireless connection is no longer avaible, so I plugged laptop to the internet via Ethernet cable and started to explore internet searching solution for my problem. I did this: How do I get a Ralink RT3290 wireless card working? And I was able to connect BUT my kernel started to panic every time I started Mozilla or any program that is connecting to the internet. Every tip i searched was almost the same as the link above. I tried to do this many ways. I even Reinstalled Xubuntu to do everything with clear system but the same thing happened. THEN I installed Linux Mint to check whether it is a major or just Xubuntu problem. Linux Mint responded even worse, because I wasn't even able to use terminal (I clearly messed something up). I would really, really appreciate every help, because I do want to solve this problem and finally be able to use Xubuntu/Ubuntu. I'm waiting for advice from anyone patiently. If anyone wants some details, just tell me which ones.

  I have a davicom dm9601 USB ethernet card. When I plug in the device, it is detected and drivers are loaded, but I can't connect to internet using it. • Wireless doesn't work after installing 11.10

  I just did a fresh install of 11.10 32 bit and I can't get my wireless to work. I installed the drivers the Broadcom STA wireless drivers through additional drivers and rebooted, but it still doesn't see any wireless networks Did something change in 11.10 that makes the wireless card not work anymore? I was using 10.10 before, and it worked fine. • How to properly store dotfiles in a centralized git repository

  I'd like to put all my dotfiles (like .profile, .gitconfig, etc.) in a central git repository, so I can more easily keep track of the changes. I did this, but I would like to know how to properly handle keeping them in sync with the actual ones in ~/. I thought that you could just hard link the two using ln, but this does not seem to work as I expected, i.e., if I edit one file, the other does not change. Maybe I misused the ln command, or else I misunderstand how hard links work. How do people usually do this? Judging by GitHub, it's a pretty popular thing to do, so surely there's a seamless way to do it that someone has come up with. By the way, I'm on Mac OS X 10.6.

• How to convert an image to a .dwg file

  My girlfriend is making an art project where she is having an image printed and cut out on a metal plate. The firm responsible for doing this is demanding a .dwg file (and something called polyline; some sort of setting maybe?). Neither of us have heard about this file format, and I find the information about it quite confusing. Most pages seem to link to some schetchy "FooToBarConverter" software, that I frankly don't trust. Could someone please enlighten us on what we need to do, or point to some safe and preferably free software that could do this? (An explanation of the dwg format and the polyline thing would also be much appreciated)

• Using a permutation table for simplex noise without storing it

  Generating Simplex noise requires a permutation table for randomisation (e.g. see this question or this example). In some applications, we need to persist the state of the permutation table. This can be done by creating the table, e.g. using def permutation_table(seed): table_size = 2**10 # arbitrary for this question l = range(1, table_size + 1) random.seed(seed) # ensures the same shuffle for a given seed random.shuffle(l) return l + l # see shared link why l + l; is a detail and storing it. Can we avoid storing the full table by generating the required elements every time they are required? Specifically, currently I store the table and call it using table[i] (table is a list). Can I avoid storing it by having a function that computes the element i, e.g. get_table_element(seed, i). I'm aware that cryptography already solved this problem using block cyphers, however, I found it too complex to go deep and implement a block cypher. Does anyone knows a simple implementation of a block cypher to this problem?

• Does the google crawler really guess URL patterns and index pages that were never linked against?

  I'm experiencing problems with indexed pages which were (probably) never linked to. Here's the setup: Data-Server: Application with RESTful interface which provides the data Website A: Provides the data of (1) at http://website-a.example.com/?id=RESOURCE_ID Website B: Provides the data of (1) at http://website-b.example.com/?id=OTHER_RESOURCE_ID So the whole, non-private data is stored on (1) and the websites (2) and (3) can fetch and display this data, which is a representation of the data with additional cross-linking between those. In fact, the URL /?id=1 of website-a points to the same resource as /?id=1 of website-b. However, the resource id:1 is useless at website-b. Unfortunately, the google index for website-b now contains several links of resources belonging to website-a and vice versa. I "heard" that the google crawler tries to determine the URL-pattern (which makes sense for deciding which page should go into the index and which not) and furthermore guesses other URLs by trying different values (like "I know that id 1 exists, let's try 2, 3, 4, ..."). Is there any evidence that the google crawler really behaves that way (which I doubt). My guess is that the google crawler submitted a HTML-Form and somehow got links to those unwanted resources. I found some similar posted questions about that, including "Google webmaster central: indexing and posting false pages" [link removed] however, none of those pages give an evidence.

  Here is a question about updating Oracle VM: Question: How can I perform Oracle VM 3 server updates from Oracle VM Manager? Answer by Gregory King, Principal Best Practices Consultant, Oracle VM Product Management: Server Update Manager is a built-in feature of the Oracle VM Manager. Basically, Server Update Manager automatically configures YUM updates on all the Oracle VM Servers, pointing each to our Unbreakable Linux Network (ULN) update channel for Oracle VM. The servers periodically check with our Oracle YUM repository and notify the Oracle VM Manager that an update is available for each server. Actual server updates must be triggered by the Oracle VM administrator – they are not executed automatically. At this point, you can use the Oracle VM Manager to put a server into maintenance mode which live migrates all the running Oracle VM Guests to other Oracle VM Servers in the server pool. Once all the Oracle VM Guests have been migrated, the Oracle VM administrator can trigger the update on the server. The entire process is documented in the Installation and Upgrade Guide of Oracle VM Documentation so I won’t spend time detailing the steps. However, configuring the Server Update Manager is exceedingly simple. Simply navigate to the Tools and Resources tab in the Oracle VM Manager, select the link for Server Update Manager and ensure the following values are added to the text boxes as shown in the illustration below: YUM Base URL: http://public-yum.oracle.com/repo/OracleVM/OVM3/latest/x86_64 YUM GPG Key: file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-oracle Every server in the pool will be automatically configured for YUM updates once you choose the Apply button. • notification icons in Gnome Shell cause lag

  Before marking this as a duplicate please read my question throughly. OK I am having a bit of a problem with Gnome Shell (3.3.90); Any time there are any icons in the bottom notification bar it causes massive lag when opening/closing and interacting with the Activities panel. If I close all applications that have a notification icon the lag goes away 100%. In My case it's drop box, but any program that requires a icon in the notification area will cause this issue to happen. I am using an AMD A6-3420M running Catalyst 11.11, however I can confirm that this is not a driver issue. I had the same issue on a system running a GeForce 8600GT,and a HD6850, and there is another question on here titled "Gnome Shell lags after a while" where the user is having the same exact issue and He is also using a nVidia card, a 9800GT to be specific. Please, this question has been asked several time and every time people say its a fglrx issue and close the question, or they mark the question as a duplicate and link to a question that says its an fglrx issue. This is not a driver issue, I understand that the AMD drivers caught heat for quite some time for Gnome Shell compatibility issues but those issues have been resolved. Aside from this issue Gnome Shell runs beautiful on my HD650, my A6-3420M, and my 8600GT. Having said that, does anyone know how to correct this issue? Closing Drop Box is not an option for me either.

• Rope Colliding with a Rectangle

  I have my rope, and I have my rectangles. The rope is similar to the implementation found here: http://nehe.gamedev.net/tutorial/rope_physics/17006/ Now, I want to make the rope properly collide with the rectangle such that the rope will not pass through a rectangle, and wrap around the rectangle and all that good stuff. Currently, I have it set so no rope node can pass through a rect (successfully), however, this means a rope segment can still pass through a block. Ex: So the question is, what can I do to fix this? What I have tried: I create a rectangle between two nodes of a rope, calculate rotation between the nodes, and get myself a transformed rectangle. I can successfully detect a collision between rope segments and a (non-transformed) rectangle. Create a new node or pivot point around the corner of the block, and rearrange nodes to point to the corner node. Trouble is determining what corner the rope segment is passing through. And then the current rope setup goes wonky (based on verlet integration, so a sudden change in position causes the rope to wiggle like a seismograph during a magnitude 8 earth quake.) Among other issues that might be solvable, but its turning into a case by case thing, which doesn't seem right. I think the best answer here would just be a link to a tutorial (I simply can't find any, most lead to box2D or farseer, but I want to at least learn how it works before I hide behind an engine).

Windows Embedded Compact 7 is available as a public CTP and it already supports a wide range of CPUs and both the device emulator and VirtualPC emulated environments. So I’ll have to learn a new (and longer) name for my favorite OS… but I (and all my two readers!) will be able to test it as soon as the download from connect web site completes (I'm sorry for my readers, but you'll have to download it by yourselves). • Earmarks of a Professional PHP Programmer

  I'm a 19 year old student who really REALLY enjoys programming, and I'm hoping to glean from your years of experience here. At present, I'm studying PHP every chance I get, and have been for about 3 years, although I've never taken any formal classes. I'd love to some day be a programmer full time, and make a good career of it. My question to you is this: What do you consider to be the earmarks or traits of a professional programmer? Mainly in the field of PHP, but other, more generalized qualifications are also more than welcome, as I think PHP is more of a hobbyist language and may not be the language of choice in the eyes of potential employers. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Above all, I don't want to wast time on something that isn't worth while. I'm currently feeling pretty confident in my knowledge of PHP as a language, and I know that I could build just about anything I need and have it "work", but I feel sorely lacking in design concepts and code structure. I can even write object oriented code, but in my personal opinion, that isn't worth a hill of beans if it isn't organized well. For this reason, I bought Matt Zandstra's book "PHP Objects, Patterns, and Practice" and have been reading that a little every day. Anyway, I'm starting to digress a little here, so back to the original question. What advice would you give to an aspiring programmer who wants to make an impact in this field? Also, on a side note, I've been working on a project with a friend of mine that would give a fairly good idea of where I'm at coding wise. • MAMP not opening the correct file

  I am a first time web app developer trying to develop a web application. I downloaded MAMP and have a simple index.html file in the htdocs folder. The apache root directory is also set to htdocs folder. But for some reason it would not execute index.html when i type localhost:8888. I used to have a different folder in htdocs and now the link is always directed to localhost:8888/folder instead of localhost:8888/index.html. How can i direct the MAMP to open index.html and not that folder?

• OpenGL setup on Windows

  I have been trying to use OpenGL for two days now. First on Mac, then on Windows. The problem with Mac is that it doesn't support the newer versions of OpenGL. I ran a tutorial that actually did get some things working, but it only works in XCode (i.e., I can't create a new file, paste in the same code, and get it to work). Because of these issues, I moved to Windows. My Windows 7 has OpenGL 4.3, which is the same that is used in alot of other tutorials. However, not one of these tutorials gives any instruction on how to set it up for the first time. I have come across some vague posts saying that some libraries need to be linked. But WHAT libraries, and HOW do I link them? Please help. I am pretty desperate to set this up as this project is due for work soon. I have actually used OpenGL before at my university, but the computers already had everything set up. The project itself is very easy, but setting up OpenGL is not something I know how to do.

• My site not directing links correctly.

  I have a site at http://badassmonkeys.com/ and when i click any of the links it does not direct it to the actual page but still pulls up the link. For some reason it works perfectly on linux cpanel and actually loads the pages, but on windows in apache, or in IIS even with a rewrite mod for it, it just doesnt work. The links dont go correctly. Is it a php.ini setting? This is my htaccess file if curious, but it works perfect in linux, but not on windows....   I have a D-LINK DIR-655 and i wish to do the following: My PC is connected to the internet via eth0 (Wired) and it has a wireless card. I wish to connect to the DIR-655 Router and share my connection via the router but wirelessly. I do not want to connect via a cabled wired to the router. I want to connect to the router via wifi. After that i want to make the Router share the wireless connection am giving it to other PCs wirelessly. So the sharing and connecting in all PCs will be done via WiFi.

• PostgreSQL, Ubuntu, NetBeans IDE (Part 1)

  While setting up PostgreSQL from scratch, with the aim to use it in NetBeans IDE, I found the following resources helpful: http://railskey.wordpress.com/2012/05/19/postgresql-installation-in-ubuntu-12-04/ http://ohdevon.wordpress.com/2011/09/17/postgresql-to-netbeans-1/ http://ohdevon.wordpress.com/2011/09/19/postgresql-to-netbeans-2/ For quite a while I had problems relating to  "/var/run/postgresql/.s.PGSQL.5432", which had something to do with "postmaster.pid", which I somehow solved via a link I can't find anymore, and which may not have been a problem to begin with. A key moment was this one, which was useful for setting the password of a new user I'd created: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7695962/postgresql-password-authentication-failed-for-user-postgres This was useful for setting up a table in my database, which I did by pasting in the below into NetBeans after I made the connection there: http://use-the-index-luke.com/sql/example-schema/postgresql/where-clause Now I have a database set up with all permissions everywhere (which turned out to be the hard part) correct: The next step will be to create a NetBeans Platform application based on this database. I'm assuming it shouldn't be any different to what's described in the NetBeans Platform CRUD Tutorial.
