  • Exchange 2010 outlook anywhere - shows internal URL

    - by Frederik Nielsen
I am setting up an Exchange 2010 SP2 for a customer. However, the server address that the server returns with autodiscover is wrong, as it points to the internal domain (.local) - and not the external address. How do I change this? Here's an image to describe what I mean: It is the upper field that is wrong. I dont want users to enable the RPC over HTTP-thing, as the users know barely nothing about computers. Thank you in advance.

  • Sendmail ignoring parameters

    - by André
We're sending ~60k emails to non-local addresses with sendmail and I manually set the -f flag to [email protected]. This all works fine and dandy when I limit my PHP script to 5000 addresses. If I remove the limitation, sendmail ingnores the parameters and sends all emails with a reply-to and return-path of [email protected]. I'm sleeping in between each email for 500ms, that should not be the problem.

  • Change the output format of zsh's time

    - by YGA
Hi Folks, I've just switched to zsh. However, I really don't like how the time builtin command also outputs the command that it's timing. I much prefer the bash style output. Anyone know how to switch it over? Zsh: [casqa1:~/temp]$ time grep foo /dev/null /usr/local/gnu/bin/grep --color -i foo /dev/null 0.00s user 0.00s system 53% cpu 0.004 total Bash: [casqa1:~/temp]$ bash casqa1.nyc:~/temp> time grep foo /dev/null real 0.0 user 0.0 sys 0.0 Thanks, /YGA

  • how to make soulseek portable?

    - by Fuxi
hi all, i was wondering if it's possible to run soulseek as portable on an external hd? the main problem is that soulseek is using local paths to "documents and settings" which means it can't be portable unless i'm copying those files every time. i've tried RegRapper but it seems that it's not possible to map the "document and settings" folder to the external hd. any ideas how it could be done? thx

  • How to run KDM or GDM over ssh

    - by Xolve
I have a computer on LAN running ssh. I can normally tunnel the GUI application using ssh computer-name -X program-name But I wam my full desktop to be running on a remote computer using ssh so that I can just use that computer remotely like a local desktop. For this I think I will need to run KDM (or GDM ) remotely, what configuration do I need to do to make this happen?

  • Routing protocols, distance vector vs link state

    - by Artem Barger
I'm trying to figure out the differences(pros/cons) between two routing protocols approach and I would be great-full for any help, advice and explanation. As far I can say that it seems like distance vector is more static and more local based routing, since it doesn't know the network state whereas link state is more aware of current states therefore it seems more natural to use it over distance-vector, but I have a feeling like I'm missing something. And I would be glad to here about more aspects and different issues I have to consider while choosing one of them.

  • what is ranlib?

    - by Ying
I have been using a MacOSX system for a while, but just only recently started poking into the guts. I found a guide telling me to run 'sudo ranlib /usr/local/lib/libjpeg.a'(installing libjpeg). I have read the ranlib manual, and tried looking online on it. I simply don't understand. What resources do I need to look up to learn more, or can someone give a concise explanation on its use? Thanks in advance!

  • Slow file copying/network browsing in Windows 7

    - by tomp
The file copying on local discs and network shares, and browsing shared folders is much slower on the Windows 7 than it was on Windows XP. I'm sure everyone encountered this problem, I personally have seen it on many different computers. What would you recommend to speed up these operations?

  • Vim configuration slow in Terminal & iTerm2 but not in MacVim

    - by Jey Balachandran
Ideally, I want to use Vim from Terminal or iTerm2. However, it becomes unbearably slow so I had to resort to using MacVim. There is nothing wrong with MacVim, however my workflow would be much smoother if I used only Terminal/iTerm2. When its slow Loading files, in particular Rails files takes about 1 - 1.5s. Removing rails.vim decreases this time to 0.5 - 1s. In MacVim this is instantaneous. Scrolling through the rows and columns via h, j, k, l. It progressively gets slower the longer I hold down the keys. Eventually, it starts jumping rows. I have my Key Repeat set to Fast and Delay Until Repeat set to Short. After 10 - 15 minutes of usage, using plugins such as ctrlp or Command-T gets very laggy. I'd type a letter, wait 2 - 3s, then type the next. My Setup 11" MacBook Air running Mac OS X Version 10.7.3 (1.6 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB DDR3) My dotfiles. > vim --version VIM - Vi IMproved 7.3 (2010 Aug 15, compiled Nov 16 2011 16:44:23) MacOS X (unix) version Included patches: 1-333 Huge version without GUI. It opens files a lot faster but still not as fast as MacVim. But the other two problems still exist. Why is my vim configuration slow? How can I improve the speed of my vim configuration within Terminal or iTerm2?

  • How to make MAMP PRO secure enough to serve as webserver? Is it possible?

    - by Andrei
Hi, my task is to setup a MAMP webserver for our website in the easiest way so it can be managed by my colleagues without experience in server administration. MAMP PRO is an excellent solution, but some guys don't suggest to use it for serving external requests. Could you explain why it is bad (in details if possible) and how to make it secure enough to be a full-scale and not-only-local webserver? Is there a better solution?

  • XP User account cannot write to USB

    - by Quick Joe Smith
Is there a local security policy setting or somesuch to allow limited user accounts to modify the contents of USB drives? Currently I get an "Access denied" error, further saying "Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use." The Administrator account has no such obstacles. Update: The problem is at least solvable by altering NTFS permissions (granting Full Control to Users), and therefore I'm losing hope that there is a more global solution.

  • Securing ColdFusion for internet facing server

    - by Goyuix
What do I need to do to tighten down a ColdFusion server for internet facing apps? The only thing that specifically came to mind was to restrict the CFIDE and JRunScripts directories to a local subnet. Are there settings in the administrator I can tweak to make the applications more secure?

    - by mathee
Hi, guys, I'm running Windows 7. Whenever I disable the wireless adapter, the "Disable" option does not change to "enable". Similarly, for the "Local Area Connection", when I click on "Disable", the adapter gets disabled, but the "Disable" option remains. In summary, I am never offered the option to enable an adapter.

  • Nexenta storage metro cluster - what are components involved?

    - by Jiri Xichtkniha
I'm quite imporesses that Nexenta can build storage metro cluster (site to site storage mirroring). As Nexenta is built on Illumos (successor of OpenSolaris) I was thinking what kind of components are involved in their storage metro cluster. Could anybody enlight me what components are doing this site-site mirroring and if these components are open source so one can build similar storage metro cluster on his own? ZFS is local filesystem so what takes care of clustering?
