  • using checkbox as radio button

    Hi, I am looking for a way for users to select one of the two options (strength or weakness) for a list of qualities. for eg: strength weakness not applicable 1. Communication 2. Punctuality ... Radio button lets me select either a strength or weakness. However, I want the user to check only those qualities that apply and if a user accidentally selects a quality there is no way to undo the selection for a radio button unless there is a third radio button called not applicable or have the user re-enter the page. I was wondering if there is a way to be able to get the flexibility of a checkbox (check / uncheck) in addition to disabling or enabling the other checkbox when one of them is checked or unchecked instead of using three radio buttons. I don't think I have seen this behavior before so wondering if there is a more elegant way of doing this. I am open to other ideas to get the same functionality. Using a checkbox as radio button was just a thought. thanks much.

    Hello, I am using jquery.autocomplete.js and jquery.apitags to select a few elements from a div (.ac_results) This works great, and I can select multiple elements etc. However the jquery-aptags plugin does only fire when enter is pressed. This might confuse some users if they use the mouse to click instead of the arrows/enter on the keyboard.   • Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: .... The status code returned from the server w

    Hi All, I have seen a few posts regarding this issue but not one specific to my problem and I have no ideas as to what I need to do to debug this. I have some combo boxes on an aspx pages, when I select a value from the first one, it fills the second with value and so on with the third and fourth. This works with no problems until I wrap an asp.net UpdatePanel around the combo boxes and try to "ajaxify" the whole process so the page isn't dancing around. The exact error I get is: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: An unknown error occurred while processing the request on the server. The status code returned from the server was: 404 Some things to note: I am using URL rewriting - This is what I think is causing the problem The error will occur whenever I choose a selection for a SECOND time. This means that I could select a value from the first combo box and get the same error (so it is happening on the second postback - No matter which combo box it's from). I have tried setting the EnablePartialRendering="false" on teh scriptmanager but as I said, it works when not using ajax, so I don't know how to debug the issue. My server is Windows 2008 running IIS& with ASP.NET 2.0. I would really appreciate your help Thanks in advance.

    I have a C++ application that needs to support binary database content (images, etc). When using MS Access or MS SQL Server this data is wrapped inside an OLE object. How do I strip this OLE header information? Note that I can't just look for the beginning of a specific tag as the content can be png, jpg and a whole heap of other formats. Should I use something like COleDataObject?

  • Wordpress - related posts by custom taxonomy problem

    Hello, I'm trying to display related posts based on a custum taxonomy. I found a query at wordpress.org that kind of works. However the original post gets duplicated in the results multiple times. (words is the name of the custom taxonomy I use) What seems to happen is that the single post gets duplicated according to what amount showpost is set. Any idea's what could cause this?   • How can I highlight the corresponding titles of clicked links?

    I'm writing an XSL file that contains a side-nav menu with a list of links. When the user clicks on one of the links, the page jumps to the corresponding table of information for that link. How can I make it so that when the link is clicked, the title of that table (not the link itself) is highlighted? It should also un-highlight if another link is clicked.     Hi, I am using PHP 5.2 on SUN OS server. In IE the dropdown width is limited to the size i.e 100px. So only the first 15-16 characters of the account name are displayed all the time. However in chrome or firefox, even if only 15-16 characters are displayed initially, when the drop down arrow is clicked upon, it show the entire name (however long it may be). This does not happen with IE. So if the account name is, lets say, "1223456789abcdefghijkl" then: For IE: shows only "123456789" all the time Ffor chrome or firefox: shows "123456789" and when it is dropped down it show the full name as "123456789abcdefghijkl".     I am trying to compare two tables to find rows in each table that is not in the other. Table 1 has a groupby column to create 2 sets of data within table one. groupby number ----------- ----------- 1 1 1 2 2 1 2 2 2 4 Table 2 has only one column. number ----------- 1 3 4 So Table 1 has the values 1,2,4 in group 2 and Table 2 has the values 1,3,4.   • Using outer query result in a subquery in postgresql

    I have two tables points and contacts and I'm trying to get the average points.score per contact grouped on a monthly basis. Note that points and contacts aren't related, I just want the sum of points created in a month divided by the number of contacts that existed in that month. So, I need to sum points grouped by the created_at month, and I need to take the count of contacts FOR THAT MONTH ONLY. It's that last part that's tricking me up. I'm not sure how I can use a column from an outer query in the subquery. I tried something like this: SELECT SUM(score) AS points_sum, EXTRACT(month FROM created_at) AS month, date_trunc('MONTH', created_at) + INTERVAL '1 month' AS next_month, (SELECT COUNT(id) FROM contacts WHERE contacts.created_at <= next_month) as contact_count FROM points GROUP BY month, next_month ORDER BY month So, I'm extracting the actual month that my points are being summed, and at the same time, getting the beginning of the next_month so that I can say "Get me the count of contacts where their created at is < next_month" But it complains that column next_month doesn't exist This is understandable as the subquery knows nothing about the outer query. Qualifying with points.next_month doesn't work either. So can someone point me in the right direction of how to achieve this?   • how can I speed up insertion of many rows to a table via ADO.NET?

    I have a table that has 5 columns: AcctId (int), Address1 (varchar), Address2 (varchar), Person1 (varchar), Person2 (varchar) . I'm generating random data to insert into this table via a C# console application. I've tried doing this random data insert via SQL-Server and decided it was not a good solution -- SQL is not good at random on an each-row basis. Generating the random data -- 975k rows of it -- takes a minimal amount of time. It's in a List of custom objects. I need to take this random data and update many rows in the database with the new random data. I tried updating the rows one at a time, very slow because of the repeated searching of the List object in code. So I think the best approach is to put all the randomized data into a table in the database, then update all the other tables that use this data. I.e. UPDATE t SET t.Address1=d.Address1 FROM Table1 t INNER JOIN RandomizedData d ON d.AcctId = t.Acct_ID. The database is very un-normalized so this Acct data is sprinkled all over the place. I've got no control of the normalization. So, having decided to insert all of the randomized data into a single table, I set out to create insert scripts: USE TheDatabase Insert tmp_RandomizedData SELECT 1,'4392 EIGHTH AVE','','JENNIFER CARTER','BARBARA CARTER' UNION ALL SELECT 2,'2168 MAIN ST','HNGR F','DANIEL HERNANDEZ','SUSAN MARTIN' // etc another 98 times... // FYI, this is not real data! I'm building this INSERT script in batches of 100. It's taking on average 175 ms to run each insert. Does this seem like a long time? It's going to take about 35 mins to run the whole insert. The table doesn't have a primary key or any indexes. I was planning on adding those after all the data in inserted (thinking that that would be faster). Is there a better way to do this?

    I have an Excel source going into an OLE DB destination. I'm inserting data into a view that has an INSTEAD OF trigger that handles all inserts. When I try to execute the package I receive this error: "Failure inserting into the read-only column ColumnName" What can I do to let SSIS know that this view is safe to insert into because there is an INSTEAD OF trigger that will handle the insert? EDIT (Additional info): Some more additional info. I have a flat file that is being inserted into a normalized database. My initial problem was how do I take a flat file and insert that data into multiple tables while keeping track of all the primary/foreign key relationships. My solution was to create a VIEW that mimicked the structure of the flat file and then create an INSTEAD OF trigger on that view. In my INSTEAD OF trigger I would handle the logic of maintaining all the relationships between tables My view looks something like this. CREATE VIEW ImportView AS SELECT CONVERT(varchar(100, NULL) AS CustomerName, CONVERT(varchar(100), NULL) AS Address1, CONVERT(varchar(100), NULL) AS Address2, CONVERT(varchar(100), NULL) AS City, CONVERT(char(2), NULL) AS State, CONVERT(varchar(250), NULL) AS ItemOrdered, CONVERT(int, NULL) AS QuantityOrdered ... I will never need to select from this view, I only use it to insert data into it from this flat file I receive. I need someway to tell SQL Server that the fields aren't really read only because there is an INSTEAD OF trigger on this view.

Move to Next Customer. If rsSalesPersons is not at EOF, move to Next SalesPerson; if rsSalesPersons is at EOF, MoveFirst to loop back to the first SalesPerson. Assign this (current) SalesPerson to the (current) Customer. Repeat step 2 until rsCustomers is at EOF (EOF = True, i.e. End-Of-Recordset).     I have a situation where I need to repeatedly execute a stored procedure Now this procedure (spMAIN) has a cursor inside which looks for a value from a table as T1,which has the following structure ID Status ---- -------- 1 New 2 New 3 success 4 Error now the cursor looks for all rows with a status of 'New' Now while processing , if that instance of the cursor encounters an error, another SP say spError needs to be called, the 'Status' column in T1 needs to be updated to 'Error' and spMAIN needs to be called again which again repeats the process, looking for rows with 'new' how do I do it?     I'm selecting table data of the current user: SELECT [ConfidenceLevel], [LoveLevel], [HappinessLevel] FROM [UserData] WHERE ([UserProfileID] = @UserProfileID) I have set a control to the unique user ID and it is getting the correct value: HTML: <asp:Label ID="userID" runat="server" Text="Labeluser"></asp:Label> C#: userID.Text = Membership.GetUser().ProviderUserKey.ToString(); I then use it in the where clause using the Configure Data Source window unique ID = control then controlID userID (fills in .text for me) I compile and run but nothing shows up where the table should be. Any suggestions?   • Poor execution plans when using a filter and CONTAINSTABLE in a query

    We have an interesting problem that I was hoping someone could help to shed some light on. At a high level the problem is as below: The following query executes quickly (1 second): SELECT SA.* FROM cg.SEARCHSERVER_ACTYS AS SA JOIN CONTAINSTABLE(CG.SEARCHSERVER_ACTYS, NOTE, 'reports') AS T1 ON T1.[Key]=SA.UNIQUE_ID but if we add a filter to the query, then it takes approximately 2 minutes to return: SELECT SA.* FROM cg.SEARCHSERVER_ACTYS AS SA JOIN CONTAINSTABLE(CG.SEARCHSERVER_ACTYS, NOTE, 'reports') AS T1 ON T1.[Key]=SA.UNIQUE_ID WHERE SA.CHG_DATE'19 Feb 2010' Looking at the execution plan for the two queries, I can see that in the second case there are two places where there are huge differences between the actual and estimated number of rows, these being: 1) For the FulltextMatch table valued function where the estimate is approx 22,000 rows and the actual is 29 million rows (which are then filtered down to 1670 rows before the join) and 2) For the index seek on the full text index, where the estimate is 1 row and the actual is 13,000 rows As a result of the estimates, the optimiser is choosing to use a nested loops join (since it assumes a small number of rows) hence the plan is inefficient. We can work around the problem by either (a) parameterising the query and adding an OPTION (OPTIMIZE FOR UNKNOWN) to the query or (b) by forcing a HASH JOIN to be used. In both of these cases the query returns in sub 1 second and the estimates appear reasonable. My question really is 'why are the estimates being used in the poorly performing case so wildly inaccurate and what can be done to improve them'? Statistics are up to date on the indexes on the indexed view being used here. Any help greatly appreciated.

    When I created a default MVC application in VS2K10, the master view (Site.Master) had a ContentPlaceHolder for the <title> tag. Is there a better way to set metatags like title and description than using a ContentPlaceHolder in the master and setting that ContentPlaceHolder's value in each view? How do you configure your views' metatags in a large-scale site with dozens and dozens of pages?

  • Pass encrypted querystring between php and asp.net (c#)

    I need to pass a single variable in a querystring from one application (in PHP) to another (in ASP.NET). It's a one way transfer...That is I need to encrypt it in PHP and decrypt it in ASP.NET (c#). I'm barely a newbie on PHP and I'd like not to have to do more than add a tag to the page that needs to do the passing. The data will be anywhere from 5 - 15 characters..only letters and numbers. Thanks!
