    I have tried rectifying the code below. But I am not able to find a solution. After executing the code, firebug says "document.getElementById(haystack.value) is null". I tried if(document.getElementById(haystack).value ==null) but it was of no use.   • Jquery question : maintain focus upon appending a row?

    The function below checks whether the id entered is already in the database, and if it is, then it adds some html to the table. I'm not sure if it's directly related to my issue or not, but, essentially, a user will place the focus on the id input field and enters an id. Using ajax, it posts to a php script and returns data if rows are found and nothing if it doesn't. If the user then tabs over to the next input field (zipcode), or clicks in another input field, they essentially have to do so twice. The cursor "flashes" in the field briefly and then focuses out. I tried adding in a focus(), but the behavior didn't change.   • Why this search can not generate correct result?

    Hi, All: Below is to find same customer and if he is in list, the number add one. If he is not in the list, just add him in the list. I use Search function to do this, but failed and generated incorrect records. It can not find the customer or the right number of customers. But if I use For..loop to iterate the list, it does well and can find the customer and add new customer in that for..loop search procedure. (I did not paste for ..loop search procedrue here). Another problem is that there is no difference between setting list.sorted true and false. It seems Search function is not correct. This search function is from an example of delphi textbook.     With jQuery I'm retrieving positions of a sortable list using 'serialize', like this: var order = $('ul').sortable('serialize'); The variable 'order' then receives the following: id[]=2&id[]=3&id[]=1&id[]=4&id[]=5 Now how can I use this data in an ajax call? This is how I plan to do it, but it's ugly and I can't change the parameter name 'id': $.post('ajax.php?'+order,{action:'updateOrder'}); Maybe I need to unserialize, then implode the variable 'order' and assign it to just one parameter?

What's weird is that the database is updating successfully when ajax is called, however the success function is not running.     What could happen if my template looks for variables which weren't assigned? For example: var uwfs_id = '{$tpl_uwfs_id}'; This snippet is from my javascript code. I outputted the value and it is simply empty. I know I could use isset(). But I couldn't find anything about how Smarty handles non-existing variables. So, what happens if template can't find a variable, because it wasn't assigned?

In order to make function calls to our back-end php code we've implemented something called an ActionProxy like this: function ActionProxy(action, input, callback){ $.post("ActionProxy.php?method="+action, { data: input}, function(data, textStatus, XMLHttpRequest){ //return data.ResponseWhatever } }); The problem we're having is that using data outside the ActionProxy is impossible due to variable scope limitations (we assume), setting var res = data.ResponseWhatever or return data.ResponseWhatever is pretty futile. How would one handle these responses most appropriately so that functions calling the actionproxy can access the response values?
