According to an answer from here, artificial neural networks are obsoleted by Support Vector Machines, Gaussian Processes, generative and descriptive models. What is your opinion?

Why do I need to Demand permission? Why can't it simply fail (commenting out the .Demand() call)?
ref: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315529
Thanks!
try
{
// Demand the permission to access the C:\Temp folder.
permFileIO.Demand();
resultText.Append("The demand for permission to access the C:\\Temp folder succeeded.\n\n");
}
I am trying to use rich text in a QComboBox but it does not support it. Perhaps I should write a subclass? But I am unsure on what I would need to override as I have never done anything like this before. Please help. Thanks!
The official Web Agents user documentation does not state what version of SAML is supported. I am trying to integrate this with a Policy Server that is not running Sun's OpenSSO policy server, so my only requirement is to support SAML 2.0. Has anyone had experience with this type of setup?
We have successfully migrated all of our PHP and Ruby apps to use New Relic RPM both for Application performance measurements and server monitoring. We are very please with results, which have enabled us to improve the overall performance of the platfrom numeral times. We still have a lot of Perl applications which we need to support for legacy purposes, but in comparison to our New Relic powred apps we are completely blind to whats happening inside the apps and in peak hours. Is there something like "New Relic" for Perl apps?
I'd like to avoid coding one from scratch, so I'd like to see what the open-source community can offer :-)
Required features:
Easy way to insert items with photo

I'm going on PHP and MySQL because of the hosting service I can't change, so please don't talk to me about alternatives :P
I'd like to know what's the one you like the most and why should it be better than the others
UPDATE: I need also multi language, Italian and English are a must.
I'm using Pandoc to convert Markdown to Docbook, doing stuff to it then rendering the Docbook to XSL-FO using Apache FOP. Unfortunately, Pandoc makes tables with table-layout="auto" and FOP only supports table-layout="fixed".
Is there a XSL-FO renderer which does support table-layout="auto"?
Here is example from J. Richter book "CLR via C#":
Nullable<Int32> y = null;
How exactly this works? Nullable is a struct, and I can not figure out is this compiler special support or implicit boxing of null value or something else.
Is there any way to generate database models from existing database (sdf file) for .NET Compact Framework 2.0? Since it doesn't support LINQ I cannot use SqlMetal.
I'm looking for free for commercial use tool.
I am converting a PHP MySQL web application written for English language into a Multi-Language site. Do you know any vulnerabilities that affect web applications in another language? Or perhaps vulnerabilities that could be introduced in the conversion of code base to support multiple languages. (If you know any vulnerabilities of this type in another language I'll give you a +1)
Instead of returning a List<Long> of ids when calling PersonDao.getAll() we wanted not to have an entire collection of ids in memory.
Seems like returning a org.springframework.jdbc.support.rowset.SqlRowSet and iterate over this rowset would not hold every object in memory.
The only problem here is i cannot cast this row to my entity.
Is there a better way for this?
I need to take data from one table and import it into another table. In pseudocode, something like this:
For Each row in table1
If row.personid is in table2 then
update table2.row
Else
insert row into table2
End If
Next
What is the best way to do this in T-SQL? As I understand it T-SQL doesn't support For Each..Next, so what alternatives do I have?
I'm trying to read a 17MB excel file (2003) with PHPExcel1.7.3c, but it crushes already while loading the file, after exceeding the 120 seconds limit I have.
Is there another library that can do it more efficiently? I have no need in styling, I only need it to support UTF8.
Thanks for your help
Hi,
I am trying to decide on an ORM tool for my project, and I am thinking about EF4.
What are the major (if any) annoyances/limitations with this product? Also, does it support caching?
Thanks
So, it seems that VS 2010 does not support SRSS projects. At least not old ones....Does anyone know what the status on this situation is and whether one can author new SRSS reports using VS2010 or if one should just use VS2008 BIDS?
Update: As of jQuery 1.4, $.live() now supports focusin and focusout events.
jQuery currently1 doesn't support "blur" or "focus" as arguments for the $.live() method. What type of work-around could I implement to achieve the following:
$("textarea")
.live("focus", function() { foo = "bar"; })
.live("blur", function() { foo = "fizz"; });

I wasn't sure if this is SuperUser or StackOverflow material, but since the end result is for programming I'll start here. I'm looking for a lightweight editor with svn support. What is your favorite?
I have a daemon running on a server that's latched onto a TCP/IP port. I'm looking to see if there's currently any support iPhone/Cocoa-touch frameworks that gives a nice OO wrapper for speaking to the daemon over an IP socket. I need to be able to interactively query the daemon with commands and retrieve back information.
If there isn't any OO wrappers for such a task, what's the next best bet?
IMAPI2 interface IFileSystem uses COM IStream interfaces to represent file data. There is AddTree method that adds specified directory contents to IFileSystem. So AddTree must create IStream's in the process. I wonder what implementation of IStream it uses? If it uses the standard OLE implementation than we have a nasty problem because OLE streams doesn't support files bigger than 4Gb.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue?
I have one SDK that is available in Java and another SDK that is available for .Net and would like to write a single application that interfaces with both of them. I imagine I will need to use a cross platform communication framework that can support named pipes (or other in memory communication), what is the best choice?
After some more research I found Hessian -- does anyone know anything about the maturity of this project?
Hi,
I am using SEQUENCE keyword in SQL Loader control file to generate primary keys. But for a special scenario I would like to use Oracle sequence in the control file. The Oracle documentation for SQL Loader doesn't mentioned anything about it. does SQL Loader support it?
