• Cannot loop through Excel 2003 files in SSIS 2008

  Hi, I am trying to execute a SSIS 2008 package on a 64-bit OS and import Excel 2003 files to SQL Server 2008. I have created an OLEDB Connection to the Excel file with a Connection String that retrieves the Excel file from a variable, inside the ForEach Loop Container. The Run64BitRunTime is set to false. I am not able to edit the SQL Command on the OLEDB Source in the Data Flow task. It returns an error : Error 2 Validation error. Load List Staged Table: Load List Staged Table: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "List OLEDB to Excel" failed with error code 0xC0202009. There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed. 0 0 Appreciate any help.

  I am currently writing my truly first PHP Application and i would like to know how to project/design/implement MySQL Views properly; In my particular case User data is spread across several tables (as a consequence of Database Normalization) and i was thinking to use a View to group data into one large table: CREATE VIEW `Users_Merged` ( name, surname, email, phone, role ) AS ( SELECT name, surname, email, phone, 'Customer' FROM `Customer` ) UNION ( SELECT name, surname, email, tel, 'Admin' FROM `Administrator` ) UNION ( SELECT name, surname, email, tel, 'Manager' FROM `manager` ); This way i can use the View's data from the PHP app easily but i don't really know how much this can affect performance. For example: SELECT * from `Users_Merged` WHERE role = 'Admin'; Is the right way to filter view's data or should i filter BEFORE creating the view itself? (I need this to have a list of users and the functionality to filter them by role).

  Hello! Couple of questions regarding Twill and Mechanize: 1) Is Twill still relevant as a web-automation tool? If yes, then why is not currently maintained? If no, has Mechanize matured further to support Twill-style simple scripting? Or is there another package that has stepped up to fill the gap? 2) I was able to very quickly setup a couple of test suites in python using Twill, but I'm a little confused on how to access the information that Twill spits out in my python program. That is, I can do showforms() and see the form values neatly listed and I can use fv to update the form values and submit. But how do I access one of those form values as a python var? • C#: standard Windows menu bars in Windows Forms

  I noticed that adding a MenuStrip (from the VS Toolbox) to my form design doesn't yield a menu bar like many native Windows applications. Instead I get a menu bar like VS's own. None of the style settings for MenuStrip appear to mimic the much more common native menu bar. Is there a way to add a menu bar to my Windows Forms application that looks the same as the one you see in Notepad, Task Manager, Windows Explorer and others? (Preferably with the designer, but I wouldn't mind adding it programmatically either.)

• Server crash = How does a TCP/IP (and the browser-client) behave after this?

  Hello Experts, i would be thankfull for an explanation what happens with HTTP(TCP/IP) transmissions when the server crashes unexpectedly, how does the client Browser (Firefox / IE) handle this event. What happens in the following two standard cases: Clients-actively sends data: The TCP/IP Connection has been estableshed and the Client (Web-Browser) is Sending a POST Request with some data and in the middle of the process of sending the server crashes. What does this mean for the client? As far as I know TCP/IP does not "acknowledge" a send data-package so the client does not know that the server crashed. How will the client behave? (Firefox and Internet Explorer)? The Server is actively sending data: As above the tcp/ip connection has been established and the Server is sending a large website to the client (browser). In the middle of the sending-process the server crashes, so no futher packets are sent. How does the client browser react to this event (Firefox and Interne Expolrer) Thank you very much!! Jens

• How do you implement caching in Linq to SQL?

  We've just started using LINQ to SQL at work for our DAL & we haven't really come up with a standard for out caching model. Previously we had being using a base 'DAL' class that implemented a cache manager property that all our DAL classes inherited from, but now we don't have that. I'm wondering if anyone has come up with a 'standard' approach to caching LINQ to SQL results? We're working in a web environment (IIS) if that makes a difference. I know this may well end up being a subjective question, but I still think the info would be valuable. EDIT: To clarify, I'm not talking about caching an individual result, I'm after more of an architecture solution, as in how do you set up caching so that all your link methods use the same caching architecture.

• [ASP.NET] Problems with error: "Access to the path <path> is denied."

  Hi, I was looking for the the trick to resolve that error (google, stackoverflow.com etc) and every nothing works. I need to dinamically create an .aspx file via the asp.net application. What I've done to try fix it: 1) In the folder's Properties - Security, I've added IUSR_TONY and also IIS_IUSRS and allow them the Full control to the folder. Just to check if that will help. Nope, it won't. 2) in the IIS Manager, I tried to change the Application's Pool Defaults Identity (based on that) I checked all options, with no success I don't know what to do more to fix it. Any ideas ?

How do I force Clojure to call the test(int) method? user=> (.test (new foo.TestInterop) 10) "Test(Object)" I want to call methods like Component.add(Component comp, int index) in AWT, but instead keep calling add(Component comp, Object constraints), so the buttons on my toolbar always appear in the wrong order.

• Custom tool error: Command.proto:11:18: "Message2" is not defined.

  I am using the latest version of protobuf-net with VS2008 integration. I have created 2 messages (Message1 and Message2), 1 message in 1 proto file. When I try to reference Message2 in Message1 the code generator tool gives me error "Message2" is not defined and won't generate the code file. The package for both messages is same. It look like that because of the integration of the tool with VS2008 it expects all the messages in same .proto file to compile. Currently I have to paste an empty message with same name in Message1.proto file, like this: message Message1 { optional Message2 message2 = 1; } message Message2 { } And then later on remove the declaration of class Message2 from Message1.cs. Are there any settings that I need to do so to avoid this error, or is providing an empty declaration the only way?

  i try to install moodle web software...i m using wamp server and sqlserver 2005 version. i install php driver for php5.3.0 thread safe version..i just paste that php_sqlsrv_ts.dll driver file into my php ext directory...i include this line extension=php_sqlsrv_ts.dll in my php.ini file... now i restart my wampserver...i m getting this error... This may seem as an open-ended question but I'll surely accept the most impressive and upvoted answer ;) Basically, I could describe my own case - I just fail 5 times a day with my intuition cause very frequently I can be just not up-to-the-speed with my requirements/manager/team/etc. and I just have to make code quickly - that's why proper formalization in many cases stands aside. I want to gather some experience of yours - what was the most epic failure when you did rely on you implicit reasoning/intuitive knowledge/immediate perception etc. of course everything you describe should be related to programming/computers. It's mostly just to measure the danger of using that 'it's obvious..' words. I've made it com. wiki to be properly transformed after gathering enough views count. Thank you!

• Using ScriptCombining through a ScriptManager on a Master Page

  ASP.NET 3.5 SP1 adds a great new ScriptCombining feature to the ScriptManager object as demonstrated on this video. However he only demonstrates how to use the feature with the ScriptManager on the same page. I'd like to use this feature on a site where the scriptmanager is on the master page but can't figure out how to add the scripts I need for each page programmatically to the manager. I've found this post to use as a starting point, but I'm not really getting very far. can anyone give me a helping hand? Thanks, Dan

• IIS7 + ASP.NET MVC Client Caching Headers Not Working

  Hey folks I've deployed an ASP.NET MVC app on IIS7 and Windows Server 2008. I've read posts on here, and around the web, but can't get the darn client-side caching to work. I'm trying to cache everything in the /Content folder. So far I've select that folder in IIS manager, and set the appropriate HTTP Response Headers (under Common Headers). I've also checked the web.config file in the /Content folder and the values there are being set. All resources in /Content come back with this (from FireBug): Cache-Control no-cache, no-store, must-revalidate Pragma no-cache Content-Type image/png Expires -1 Last-Modified Sun, 11 Oct 2009 19:01:40 GMT Accept-Ranges bytes Etag "f318d643a54aca1:0" Server Microsoft-IIS/7.0 X-Powered-By ASP.NET Date Sun, 11 Oct 2009 20:40:01 GMT Content-Length 620 Note the Cache-Control and Expires values for this static image being requested. The site is currently compiled in Debug (this will change), but surely that wouldn't make a difference? Obviously I'm overlooking something, any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

• .NET Data Adapter Timeout SP Issue

  We have a SQL Server stored procedure that runs fine in SQL Manager directly, does a rather large calculation but only takes 50-10 seconds max to run. However when we call this from the .NET app via a data adapter it times out. The timeout however happens before the timeout period should, we set it to 60 seconds and it still times out in about 20 seconds or less. I've Googled the issue and seen others note issues where a SP works fien directly but is slow via a data adpater call. Any ideas on how to resolve this?

• Remove another user's lock obtained with sp_getapplock on SQL Server

  We have a system that uses sp_getapplock to create an exclusive mutex any time someone opens an order in the GUI. This is used to prevent multiple people from making changes to an order simultaneously. Sometimes people will open an order and go home, leaving it open. This effectively blocks anyone from being able to make changes to the order. I then get emails, calls and end up doing a kill <spid> in enterprise manager. Obviously I've gotten sick of this and want to make a quick self-service webform. The main problem I've run into is that kill requires sysadmin privileges, which I do not want to give to the user that the our website runs as. I have tried sp_releaseapplock but this doesn't let you release another user's lock (even when calling it as a sysadmin). So, finally my question; does anyone know of an alternative method to release a lock that was obtained by another user using sp_getapplock?

• Java: using endpoint to publish webservice to tomcat server

  hi all, i am creating a simple SOAP web service. i am to ensure that it runs on a tomcat web service. im trying to implement this with JAX-WS (see code) my question is: does the Endpoint.publish use the tomcat server to host this or is it a mini glassfish kind of server? should i be extending UnicastRemoveObject or something similiar instead? ideally it would be able to be packaged into a .WAR and dropped in the directory and just work. It doesn't seem to work with my installed tomcat server as is because it says the port is already in use. • Routinely sync a branch to master using git rebase

  I have a Git repository with a branch that hardly ever changes (nobody else is contributing to it). It is basically the master branch with some code and files stripped out. Having this branch around makes it easy for me to package up a leaner version of my project without having to strip out the code and files manually every time. I have been using git rebase to keep this branch up to date with the master but I always get this warning when I try to push the branch after rebasing: To prevent you from losing history, non-fast-forward updates were rejected Merge the remote changes before pushing again. See the 'Note about fast-forwards' section of 'git push --help' for details. I then use git push --force and it works but I feel like this is probably bad practice. I want to keep this branch "in sync" with the master quickly and easily. Is there a better way of handling this task?

• pgf/tikz: String Symbols as Input Coordinates

  Hi all, I'm new to pgf so i was trying out some examples from the pgfplot manual. One example is especially relevant for my current task but, alas, it would not compile. Here is the code: \documentclass[11pt]{article} \usepackage{tikz} \usepackage{pgfplots} \begin{document} \begin{tikzpicture} \begin{axis}[symbolic x coords={a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i}] \addplot+[smooth] coordinates { (a,42) (b,50) (c,80) (f,60) (g,62) (i,90)}; \end{axis} \end{tikzpicture} \end{document} the compiler quits with the following error: ! Package PGF Math Error: Could not parse input 'a' as a floating point number, sorry. The unreadable part was near 'a'.. I have no clue how to correct this behavior. Other plots (smooth, scatter, bar), which contain only numerical data compile fine. Could anybody give me a hint? Cheers K.

  Hi I have a SSIS package that copies data from table A to table B and sets a flag in table A so that the same data is not copied subsequently. This works great by using the following as the SQL command text on the ADO Net Source object: update transfer set ProcessDateTimeStamp = GetDate(), LastUpdatedBy = 'legacy processed' output inserted.* where LastUpdatedBy = 'legacy' and ProcessDateTimeStamp is not null The problem I have is that I need to run a similar data copy but from two sources table, joined on a primary / foreign key - select from table A join table B update flag in table A. I don't think I can use the technique above because I don't know where I'd put the join! Is there another way around this problem? Thanks Rob.

This is accessed through project properties configuration manager menu. I would like to know if this feature is the same in the professional version and the express edition of MVS 2010 in terms of speed optimization. I have the express edition. Also, I would like to know if C programs run with the same speed as in both the professional and express editions. I have created the Voter table in which I need to insert the record. I ma passing the values from the JSF to EJB, it is working.I have created JPA controller class (which automatcally generates the persistence code based on the data base classes) Ex: getting the entity manager etc., em = getEntityManager(); em.getTransaction().begin(); em.persist(voter); em.getTransaction().commit(); I have created the named query also: @NamedQuery(name = "Voter.insertRecord", query = "INSERT INTO Voter v values v.voterID = :voterID,v.password = :password,v.partSSN = :partSSN,v.address = :address, v.zipCode = :zipCode,v.ssn = :ssn, v.vFirstName = :vFirstName,v.vLastName = :vLastName,v.dob = :dob"),But still not able to insert the record?
