I want to select all the DIV tags that have a custom attribute called NODE_ID that have a value of 49_3. then select the and change the src attribute to a different image.   The MovieLens data set provides a table with columns: userid | movieid | tag | timestamp I have trouble reproducing the way they pruned the MovieLens data set used in: http://www.cse.ust.hk/~yzhen/papers/tagicofi-recsys09-zhen.pdf In 4.1 Data Set of the above paper, it writes "For the tagging information, we only keep those tags which are added on at least 3 distinct movies. As for the users, we only keep those users who used at least 3 distinct tags in their tagging history. For movies, we only keep those movies that are annotated by at least 3 distinct tags." I tried to query the database: select TMP.userid, count(*) as tagnum from (select distinct T.userid as userid, T.tag as tag from tags T) AS TMP group by TMP.userid having tagnum = 3; I got a list of 1760 users who labeled 3 distinct tags. However, some of the tags are not added on at least 3 distinct movies. Any help is appreciated.

• comparing two cursors in oracle instead of using MINUS

  The following query takes more than 3 minutes to run because tables contain massive amounts of data: SELECT RTRIM(LTRIM(A.HEAD)), A.EFFECTIVE_DATE, FROM TABLE_1 A WHERE A.TYPE_OF_ACTION='6' AND A.EFFECTIVE_DATE >= ADD_MONTHS(SYSDATE,-15) MINUS SELECT RTRIM(LTRIM(B.head)), B.EFFECTIVE_DATE, FROM TABLE_2 B In our system a query gets killed if it is running for more than 8 seconds. Is there a way to run the queries individually ..put them in cursors..compare and then get the results? that way each query will be ran individually rather than as one massive query which takes 3 minutes. How would two cursors be compared to mimic the MINUS?

• PostgreSQL - best way to return an array of key-value pairs

  I'm trying to select a number of fields, one of which needs to be an array with each element of the array containing two values. Each array item needs to contain a name (character varying) and an ID (numeric). I know how to return an array of single values (using the ARRAY keyword) but I'm unsure of how to return an array of an object which in itself contains two values. The query is something like SELECT t.field1, t.field2, ARRAY(--with each element containing two values i.e. {'TheName', 1 }) FROM MyTable t I read that one way to do this is by selecting the values into a type and then creating an array of that type. Problem is, the rest of the function is already returning a type (which means I would then have nested types - is that OK? If so, how would you read this data back in application code - i.e. with a .Net data provider like NPGSQL?) Any help is much appreciated.

  I have tables A, B, C, where A represents items which can have zero or more sub-items stored in C. B table only has 2 foreign keys to connect A and C. I have this sql query: select * from A where not exists (select * from B natural join C where B.id = A.id and C.value > 10); Which says: "Give me every item from table A where all sub-items have value less than 10. Is there a way to optimize this? And is there a way to write this not using exists operator?

  I'm relatively new to MySQLi prepared statements, and running into an error. Take this code: $user = 'admin'; $pass = 'admin'; if ($stmt = $mysqli->query("SELECT * FROM members WHERE username='$user' AND password='$pass'")) { echo $stmt->num_rows; } This will display "1", as it should. This next piece of code though, returns "0": $user = 'admin'; $pass = 'admin'; if ($stmt = $mysqli->prepare("SELECT * FROM members WHERE username=? AND password=?")) { $stmt->bind_param("ss", $user, $pass); $stmt->execute(); echo $stmt->num_rows; } Any ideas why?

  Hi, I have houses that belongs to streets. A user can buy several houses. How do I find out, if the user owns an entire street? street table with columns (id/name) house table with columns (id/street_id [foreign key] owner table with columns (id/house_id/user_id) [join table with foreign keys] So far, I'm using count which returns the result: select count(*), street_id from owner left join house on owner.house_id = house.id group by street_id where user_id = 1 count(*) | street_id 3 | 1 2 | 2 A more general count: select count(*) from house group by street_id returns: count(*) | street_id 3 | 1 3 | 2 How can I find out, that user 1 owns the entire street 1 but not street 2?   I need to generate unique and consecutive numbers (for use on an invoice), in a fast and reliable way. currently use a Oracle sequence, but in some cases generated numbers are not consecutive because of exceptions that may occur. I thought a couple of solutions to manage this problem, but neither of they convincing me. What solution do you recommend? • Is the UIDatePicker really the best iPhone UI mechanism for selecting dates?

  Hello! I'm diving into iPhone/iPad development and I'm trying to find an elegant mechanism for allowing the user to select dates. It seems to me that a calendar control would be the best way to go, but I don't see one in anywhere in the SDK. All all I see is this overblown, the-price-is-right-looking DatePicker control. Is this the only control that comes with UIKit for allowing the user to select dates? What about the calendar that the Notes app uses? Also, I should note I'm really trying to avoid using 3rd party code frameworks that have little or no documentation, because I'm new to all this and sufficient documentation is a must at this point. Thanks so much in advance for all your wisdom!

  On my pages(ASP.NET 3.5) where all input controls have tab order set whenever next input control is not enabled or hidden it goes to the address bar and then to next available control. To fix this behavior, i.e. make it land to the next available control w/o going to address bar I am trying to use jQuery: $(':text,textarea,select').blur(function() { $(this).next(':text, textarea, select').filter(':enabled:visible').focus(); }); But it still goes to the adress bar in some cases. What do I need to correct here?

Visitors are recognized by a unique has storred in a cookie and in the favorites table. I need to alter this query so that I can get just the last months worth of songs.   Is it possible to create a full text index on a VIEW? If so, given two columns column1 and column2 on a VIEW, what is the SQL to get this done? The reason I'd like to do this is I have two very large tables, where I need to do a FULLTEXT search of a single column on each table and combine the results. The results need to be ordered as a single unit. Suggestions? EDIT: This was my attempt at creating a UNION and ordering by each statements scoring.   Hello, I'm storing timestamp as int field. And on large table it takes too long to get rows inserted at date because I'm using mysql function FROM_UNIXTIME. SELECT * FROM table WHERE FROM_UNIXTIME(timestamp_field, '%Y-%m-%d') = '2010-04-04' Is there any ways to speed this query? Maybe I should use query for rows using timestamp_field >= x AND timestamp_field < y? Thank you I've just tried this query... SELECT * FROM table WHERE timestamp_field >= UNIX_TIMESTAMP('2010-04-14 00:00:00') AND timestamp_field <= UNIX_TIMESTAMP('2010-04-14 23:59:59') but there is no any performance bonuses. :(

• is there a downside to putting N in front of strings in scripts? Is it considered a "best practice"?

  Let's say I have a table that has a varchar field. If I do an insert like this: INSERT MyTable SELECT N'the string goes here' Is there any fundamental difference between that and: INSERT MyTable SELECT 'the string goes here' My understanding was that you'd only have a problem if the string contained a Unicode character and the target column wasn't unicode. Other than that, SQL deals with it just fine and converts the string with the N'' into a varchar field (basically ignores the N). I was under the impression that N in front of strings was a good practice, but I'm unable to find any discussion of it that I'd consider definitive. Title may need improvement, feel free.

• Storing year/make/model in a database?

  Here's what I'm thinking (excuse the Django format): class VehicleMake(Model): name = CharField(max_length=50) class VehicleModel(Model): make = ForeignKey(VehicleMake) name = CharField(max_length=50) class VehicleYear(Model): model = ForeignKey(VehicleModel) year = PositiveIntegerField() This is going to be used in those contingent drop-down select boxes, which would visually be laid out like [- Year -][- Make -][- Model -]. So, to query the data I need I would first have to select all distinct years from the years table, sorted descending. Then I'd find all the vehicle makes that have produced a model in that year. And then all the models by that make in that year. Is this a good way to do it, or should I re-arrange the foreign keys somehow? Or use a many-to-many table for the years/models so that no year is repeated?

The following query throws "Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type datetime." if the piece of data found in the xml cannot be converted to datetime (in this specific case, the date is "0001-01-01" in some cases).   Hello I want to generate a Unique Random number with out using the follow statement : Convert(int, (CHECKSUM(NEWID()))*100000) AS [ITEM] Cause when I use joins clauses on "from" it generates double registers by using NEWID() Im using SQL Server 2000 *PD : When I use Rand() it probably repeat on probability 1 of 100000000 but this is so criticall so it have to be 0% of probability to repeat a random value generated My Query with NewID() and result on SELECT statement is duplicated (x2) My QUery without NewID() and using Rand() on SELECT statement is single (x1) but the probability of repeat the random value generated is uncertainly but exists! • How to click through JGlassPane With MouseListener to UI behind it

  I have a JFrame and a bunch of JComponents on top of the JFrame. I need to make use of the JGlassPane and I used this implementation to set it up. JPanel glass = new JPanel(); frame.setGlassPane(glass); glass.setVisible(true); glass.setOpaque(false); After doing so I can't select any JButtons or other JComponents under the JGlassPane. Is there a way to have only the components on the GlassPane selectable while still having the ability to select components under the GlassPane? Edit I forgot to mention (not knowing this would be relevant) that I did attach both a MouseListener and a MouseMotionListener to the glass pane. Is there a way to pass the Mouse Events to other components and only use them when needed?

  Hi, I'm developing an iPhone application with FB connect, the JavaScript API includes really powerful methods like wait.on for combining requests... Any way using those API methods via iOS and Xcode? about the FQL responses, I'm using both: request:didReceiveResponse: AND request:didLoad: methods. all the FQL queries I send provoke didReceiveResponse but not all of them provoke the second one (didLoad). @"SELECT uid,eid FROM event_member WHERE uid in (select uid2 from friend where uid1=%d limit 100)", userID when the limit is 1-2 it provokes them all, when it grows too 100 (friends to fetch) it provokes only the first.. does anyone know this problem?
