• Android: debug certificate expired error

  I started up Eclipse today, created a new project, and immediately had an error before I had changed a single line: Error generating final archive: Debug Certificate expired on 11/12/11 When installed, the Android SDK generates a "debug" signing certificate for you in a file called "debug.keystore". Eclipse uses this certificate rather than forcing you to create a new one for every project. In older versions of Eclipse, the certificate was only valid for 365 days, but as I understand it the default has been changed to 30 years in newer versions. If for whatever reason you don't want to upgrade Eclipse, you can manually delete the certificate to for Eclipse to generate a new one. You can find the location in Preferences -> Android -> Build -> Default debug keystore (mine was in C:\Users\myUserName\.android\); just delete the "debug.keystore" file, then go back into Eclipse and Clean the project to generate a new file.

• Loops, Recursion and Memoization in JavaScript

For example, 5! = 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 120. The value of 0! is 1. We can use factorials to demonstrate iterative loops and recursive functions in JavaScript.  Here is a function that computes the factorial using a for loop: Output: Time Taken: 51 ms Here is the factorial function coded to be called recursively: Output: Time Taken: 165 ms We can speed up the recursive function with the use of memoization.  Hence,  if the value has previously been computed, it is simply returned and the recursive call ends. • Greek Letters rendered incorrectly in LibreOffice

  Using an old archive that I have (with Maxwell's equations), the Greek letters display as squares. I tried to change something in the alphabet but even the fonts don't have any Greek letters (they appear like squares too), both Greek and iGreek letters packages. Sounds like a package that's not installed, or corrupted. I still re-downloaded and reinstalled LibreOffice. I don't know what I have to install. The equations look fine in OpenOffice.org (I made the file with it). What should I do?

• Need to redirect Wordpress category archives

  I recently changed my Wordpress category structure a bit, changing some of the names and placing some under different parent categories. I don't use category name in my post URLs, so that's not a problem. But my category archive pages are indexed and have page rank I don't want to lose. So I need to redirect: "/category/old_cat_name" to "/category/new_cat_name". Or in some cases to /new_cat_name/new_sub_cat. I gather that I can't do this though the WP Redirection plugin and that I have to modify my .htaccess. Can someone show me what lines to add there--or is there another better way to do this? Thanks.

  How to search for packages that provides a virtual package? For example, I want to search for packages that provides "x-terminal-emulator" in the "main" repository of Ubuntu 12.04. One way to do this is to parse the package index: curl http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/precise/main/binary-amd64/Packages.gz | zcat | grep -B12 '^Provides: x-terminal-emulator' | grep ^Package: which gives me the following results: Package: gnome-terminal Package: konsole Package: xterm Is that a better way to do this? I had some dynamically added DOM elements and re-applying bindings worked before. It always seemed like a workaround/hack, but now Knockout is telling me that I shouldn’t do it. The quick way to fix this is to use ko.cleanNode($(‘#id’) and this works. A different/possibly better way, as suggested by x0n might be to use templates and Knockout’s template binding (<script type=’text/html’>…</script>).   Thanks again to the StackOverflow community for quickly providing me with the solution. • Ogre3D : seeking advices about game files management

  I'm working on a new game, and its related level editor, based on Ogre3D. I was thinking about how i could manage the game files, knowing that Ogre use .mesh files for models, .material for materials/texture information etc... . At first i thought about a common .zip folder decompressed at runtime (the same way Torchlight and Ogre samples do). But this way the game assets become a monolithic archive, loading takes time, and could be difficult to eventually patch them. So, let's say i have a game object named "Cube" i want to load in my program. Going for modularity, what if i create a compressed file (using zlib compression routines) named Cube.extname, containing its sub-files Cube.mesh, Cube.material and so on ? Are there any alternatives or should i stick with compressed objects? PS: Just to clear things, the answer is unrelated to my program code, at the moment i'm using "resources.cfg" pointing to the OgreSDK media directory.

  (in via Nancy) Customers using EPM 11.1.2.3 and a web browser to launch the Essbase Administration Services Console will lose the ability to launch EAS Console via the Web URL if they apply Java 1.7 build 45. Development is currently investigating this issue. Workaround: If Java 1.7 Update 45 has been installed, it will need to be uninstalled and a previous version will need to be installed. Older versions of Java are available in the Java Archive Note: Though it may work, Java 1.7 is not supported in previous versions of EAS. • How to retrieve packages from an ISO?

  I have an ISO image of BackTrack and I want to try it, but I don't want to mess up my bootloader with installing 2 Linuxes and a Windows. As BackTrack is Debian based I want to use its packages in my current Ubuntu. I tried mounting the ISO with Archive Mounter but whole operating system seems to be in casper/filesystem.squashfs file. I have seen this answer but none of those methods work, because I can't find any pool directory. The only file I suspect is filesystem.squashfs which is 3.3 GB in size. Please help me install tools from BackTrack's ISO.

• Dynamic MMap ran out of room when trying to sudo apt-get anything

  I was having an error in Update Manager that asks me to do a partial upgrade and it fails. Now I can't sudo apt-get install anything. I tried to fix it, and now I can't sudo apt-get anything. Every time, I get this output: Reading package lists... Error! E: Dynamic MMap ran out of room. Please increase the size of APT::Cache-Limit. Current value: 25165824. (man 5 apt.conf) E: Error occurred while processing libuptimed0 (NewVersion1) E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_lucid_universe_binary-i386_Packages W: Unable to munmap E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened. I have no idea why this is happening or how to fix it, and I fear that if I try something that probably doesn't work that it will make my problem worse. (Just for reference I am currently running 10.04 (Lucid) on my machine.)

• How are generics implemented?

  This is the question from compiler internals perspective. I am interested in generics, not templates (C++), so I marked the question with C#. Not Java, because AFAIK the generics in both languages differ in implementations. When I look at languages w/o generics it is pretty straightforward, you can validate the class definition, add it to hierarchy and that's it. But what to do with generic class, and more importantly how handle references to it? How to make sure that static fields are singular per instantiations (i.e. each time generic parameters are resolved). Let's say I see a call: var x = new Foo<Bar>(); Do I add new Foo_Bar class to hierarchy? One of the persons answering even suggested that granting a fixed IP Address would be a breach of security!I find it very disturbing that two companies that present themselves as innovative should still not be preparing for IPv6. The answer I would have expected was that all new equipment being supplied was IPv6 compatible and that plans were in hand for a switchover to IPv6. Instead new equipment would be supplied that would have to be replaced when IPv6 comes. Equally disturbing was that the call center people who answered did not know why a fixed IP address was important or why the change to IPv6 would have to come.I would rather not name and shame the two companies, however I will be looking elsewhere for my next Internet Service Provider.

Brings USB 2.0 emulation and more!I upgraded the version on my Solaris Express (get that from : http://www.oracle.com/solaris/index.html and follow the Download Solaris Express link on the right) laptop (pfexec pkgrm SUNWvbox and then pfexec pkgadd -d the .pkg in the compressed archive file, and install the extensions from the VBox GUI once it's launched). If you are on an old fashion OS without proper RBAC, replace pfexec by sudo. Which you can also do on Solaris if you really want to. :)I tell you, it's Christmas, for sure!Merry VBox!Gilles.

• Script / App to unRAR files, and only delete the archives which were sucessfully expanded.

  I have a cron job which runs a script to unrar all files in a certain directory (/rared for argument's sake) and place the expanded files in /unrared. I would like to change this script so that it deletes the original rar archives from /rared only if they successfully extracted. This does not mean that unrar has reported that they have been fully extracted, because I have had data corruption during decompression before. Ideally (pie-in-the-sky, just to give you an idea of what I'm shooting for,) the unrar program would include this functionality, comparing an expected md5sum value with the actual md5sum value and only deleting the archive if they match. I don't mind scripting this entire process if I have to, but there must be a better way than unraring twice and comparing md5sums.
