  How do I change the default file permissions for files created on a Mac server? In case it's relevant, this is a Mac Mini running Mac OS 10.6.7. It's currently used mainly as a file server, and there are several users who need to share files. These files need to be writable by all, rather than the default which is writable only by the owner. I've been trying to do something with umask and a startup script, but I'm not sure there's a startup script that will apply to connections via Finder. I also need this to apply to files created on a client (also Macs) and copied onto the server.

• Sql Server 2008 - Cannot connect to local default instance

  I recently rebuilt my machine to Windows 7 x64, installed Sql Server 2008 enterprise. I can connect fine to other remote instances via Management Studio (be they 2000, 2005 or 2008), but i cannot find my local default instance. I have verified that a directory was created for the default instance C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER I can connect to SQLEXPRESS instance fine I have rerun setup to ensure I have everything installed I have verified that the SQLSERVER(MSSQLSERVER) service is running I have tried brownsing for the instance and see all the others available except my local one I have tried using this for servername: TSOUTHERLANDPC\MSSQLSERVER, the first part being my local machine name My issue is not the same as this post or this post. Any ideas?

• IIS7 Recover Default Website

  So I deleted my default website by accident on a Windows 2008 server in IIS7. This is bad because I now lost my Exchange OWA virtual directories... users are not happy =(. Also lost my https certificate I'm pretty sure. So I'm hoping there is an easy way to recover all that stuff being that it's Windows 2008 and all... Any help appreciated. I have no idea where to start or how to recover any of this stuff besides creating a new site called default website and then hitting the MS Exchange manual on how to install OWA from scratch.

• Word 2010 & 2007 Blue Background on screen as default

  Default blue background and white text in Microsoft Word. I have just moved to Word 2010 (Student Version now released) and although it is possible to create individual documents with a blue background it is not possible to set the program with a blue background as a default. I understand this was discontinued with Office 2007. The only way I can open a document with a blue background is to create a Template with a blue background and use that for each document I wish to create. I'm sure there must be a method of hacking the registry to accomplish this. Can you assist. There must be countless people who who they knew how.

• DHCP settings out of range Internet shuts off after a few minutes

  I recently upgraded from windows eight to windows 8.1 I do not know if this has anything to do with anything I have a 64 bit OS. My Internet goes off by itself every 5 minutes even though my wireless icon at the lower right of the screen still shows connected I had an error message in the last event in it said that might DHCP settings were out of range. I get my internet at my house through a wireless portable hotspot through my smart phone. But i haven't ever had any problems before and i only have this problem on this network. If i turn airplane mode on and reset my network card, the internet will come back to life but soon die. i don't experience this problem while on a different network or if i'm on WiFi. • Centos Virtual host loading default page

  I have asked a question which was related to this but not same, I have a centos VPS, which has two wordpress websites, one is mbas.co.in and another is onlinemba123.com, now for virtual hosting using just ONE IP ADDRESS, first I started mbas.co.in, which is working fine, when I added onlinemba123.com then, it is loading default Centos page instead of my website, and I am just testing my onlinemba123 website, I haven't configured DNS for it, I am testing it through editing my PC's hosts file, My website folder names are also same as in the conf file below Now my question is how can I load my website instead of Default page, is my virtual host config fine?   We have a web site that should only be available for authorized users. So we deny anonymous access for the site. However we do allow anonymous access to the default page and the login page. When we installed SP1 the behavior of the server changed. Now if the user is trying to access the root of the site, say http://mysite.com, she is redirected to login page rather than the default page. Is there a hotfix to bring back the previous behavior?

• Glassfish with Webservices on non default port

  I have a simple web service that I created that deploys perfectly on a default Glassfish V2.1 install on both a windows and a linux system. HOWEVER, In the production environment, Glassfish has the default port for the domain changed from port 8080 to port 80. Now when I try to deploy the web service it will not deploy to the server. The production server is brand new and only was a few webpages on it. Other than the port everything else seems to be the same. I cannot change the port on the production server. In fact I tried to change the port on the linux test server tfrom 8080 to port 80 and I get the same result as the production server. Any ideas - other than don't use glassfish? :)

• Url rewriting stops working after changing default port on iis7

  I have migrated the IIS6 webserver 2003 websites to IIS7 webserver 2008 using msdeploy tool. Application pool setting are changed with "Enable 32-bit Applications=true", "Managed_Pipeline_Mode=Classic","Identity=NetworkService" Framework=v1.1/2.0. All the websites are working fine on default port along with url rewriting migrated from iis6. When I start the webserver on port other than default port by changing bindings, url rewriting stops workings and get 404 error in logs. I think I don't have to change the handler mapping cause I am running it in classic mode. How can I troubleshoot this?

On the Windows XP Login screen there was a drop down menu allowing them to log on to the Local Machine. However in Windows7 there is no such box and it is confusing staff. Windows 7 tries to log into the domain by default, it doesn't seem to remember where the user last logged into. Is there a way to set Windows7 to log on to the local machine by default instead of the domain? I do not want the staff to have to type for example stafflaptop1\User1 when they log on.

  Installation: Windows Server 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Service role When I logon locally my command window (cmd.exe) displays with default font that is 8x12. But when I logon remotely and open command window, it opens with the smallest possible font selection. Opening window properties and setting font size, the default 8x12 font is missing from the list. What should I do to get this font back in the list? Following screenshots show settings when logged on locally and remotely.   if my understanding is correct, the following is what happens when a host A wants to communicate with a machine X outside its network. 1) The host ,checks it routing table to find out if there is any direct routes to the machine. 2) It finds out that the machine is outside its network and has to sent the packets to the default gateway(router) R. 3) The host sents an ARP broadcast to get the mac of the router R. 4) After getting the MAC, the host creates a packet with src IP and MAC as that of the host A, dest IP of the remote machine X and dest MAC of the router R. 5)The router R receives the packet, either drops its or sents its to its next hope, which can be another router or the remote machine X itself. Can anyone explain, how the steps would be, if i set the default gateway of the host A as host A itself...?

The documentation here is unclear to me, and the only mailing list conversation that I could find here does not shed any (comprehensible, to me) light on the matter either. I have a bunch of name-based virtual hosts declared like this: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName example.com ... and I'd like to have an entry that fires when none of those match, i.e. when a request comes in without a virtual host name, or with a virtual host name that has not been declared. Should I use *:80 or default:80?

  I just came across a problem that I seemed to have found a solution, but was a little surprised by the issue. In gVim, when I save a new document (new from "within" gVim), ala :w afile I realized it saves with I guess no file format, and thus is not visible in iPhone's PlainText app. Solution seems to be, save using :w afile.txt then the problem seems solved. Is this a good way to solve it? Should I change a default somewhere, either in Windows or _gvimrc file? I may consider doing some TeX'ing in vim at some point, so perhaps a default that allows for overriding in saving, and doesn't force txt when opening "any of all" documents.

  I have a CentOS server (rel6) that had python installed (2.6), but I needed a few features in 3.3+. I installed 3.3 into a seperate folder and made a symbolic link to execute it: I installed setup tools: yum install python-setuptools I installed a needed module"pandas" easy_install pandas I executed my pyton script, which encountered an error that required i use a newer version I downloaded and installed Python 3.3.5 to it's own folder so as to not override my default python wget http://www.python.org/ftp/python/3.3.5/Python-3.3.5.tar.xz tar xJf ./Python-3.3.5.tar.xz cd ./Python-3.3.5 ./configure --prefix=/opt/python make make install Made s symbolic link to allow me to execute this new python: ln -s /opt/python3.3/bin/python3.3 ~/bin/py The problem is that when I execute the python script with my new py alias, it does not have all the addons needed (explicitly MySQLdb) which the default install does. How do i go about installing the MySQLdb module, or any for that matter, to be reachable or useable for the new Python 3.3.5 installation? Or is there a way to make the current modules in 2.6 available to 3.3.5 as well?

  I've been dinking with the xorg.conf file on my system and now when I try to start X I get a flickering effect and no usable image. I think (and this is just a guess) that it's a settings out of bound error of some kind but I don't know what setting. I'm almost completely sure that the hardware is good given that everything is brand new.and works just fine in text mode. Any ideas?

  Hello, We earlier used IIS web server. To redirect some URLs ending with .asp, we created a directory structure based on URL's to be redirected; wrote VB script in .asp files to redirect present page to desired page and placed these .asp files in appropriate directories. Finally copied this directory structure to the docroot of IIS webserver. Due to some reasons, we had to switch to IHS web server. As IHS does not support .asp files, we can't use same directory structure having .asp files to redirect our URLs. Please let me know the default file type that is supported by IHS webserver (as the default filetype supported in IHS is .asp). Thanks in advance! SK
